Chapter 1-Prologue to the Greys
Carrick Grey and Grace Trevelyan met as teenagers. It was by chance. They lived on different sides of the track. Carrick was a rich kid from Bel Air. He went to a private school, played every sport possible, and made straight A's. His father always expected the best.
He was doing a good deed, driving his drunk friends home, when the car started sputtering and stalled. It stalled close to an auto body shop. He walked away leaving his drunk friends asleep. "Excuse me sir, I see you're closing, but my friend's car just stopped."
He saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, with copper hair and gray eyes, no match to his blonde hair and blue eyes. "Son, your car?" Carrick rubbed his head, "Yes sir. It stalled. I can pay you extra, but I need to get my friends home before curfew. They partied too much tonight." He looked at his daughter smiling, her eyes begging him to help him. "Ok let me take a look."
Theodore Grey walked over and looked in the car first, "Have you been drinking?" Carrick answered quickly, "No sir. I don't drink. My father would kill me." His daughter giggled and it sent a shock to Carrick's private parts. "My name is Carrick Grey." They looked at him, "I'm Theo and this is my daughter Grace. It's nice to meet you." Carrick looked over "I'm a junior and I go to Brentwood. How about you?" Theo fiddled with the wires and quickly said, "She's a sophomore and Brentwood is way out of our league. Start the car, son."
Carrick felt really uneasy. He came from money, but he was different from all of the people around him. He never really threw it around. He climbed in and it started the car. "Thank you sir. How much?" Theo smiled, "It's on the house. Your friend should have the engine looked at or he should just buy a new one." Theo closed the trunk and grabbed his daughter. Carrick felt like shit until Grace turned back and gave him a wink.
When he drove by he remembered the name, TNT auto body. When his drunk friend woke up, he told him about the car. They towed it to the shop and a week later his friend pulled up at school with a new car. "Hey, what was wrong with the car?" His buddy said, "Something about the engine. He said it could be fixed for 2000 but we turned it in."
Carrick grabbed some paper and an envelope. He dropped by the bank and grabbed money. Then he drove all the way to Hollywood. He saw Theo leave and that was all he needed. He wrote the note and folded it in the envelope. When he walked in the bell rang and he saw an older woman with copper colored hair and some strands of white, but when he saw she had gray eyes, he knew it was Grace's mother. "Ma'am, your husband helped me and my friends last week."
He explained the entire story. "I'm sorry if he hurt your feelings. He's a proud man." He handed her an envelope and she tilted her head. "Just give this to him." He left and started walking to his car. "Hey you!" It was Grace and she was smiling like that night. "My dad's going to flip when he opens that."
They talked and she told him she lived in Mission Hills and went to Northridge. "It's a small house, but what we can afford." Carrick smiled, "I don't have money either, my father does. I get it, I'm a rich kid, but I don't see people for money." He gave her his number, "I would love to go out sometime. Call me."
When Theo got back Eloise explained the envelope. Theo opened it and saw the money. He read the note.
Theo,
You were right. I guess you truly know rich kids. My friend rolled into school with a new car, babbling something about the engine and costing 2000 dollars. I am from Bel Air, but I'm not a normal rich kid. I really appreciate your help that night. Since you were right about the engine, that money belongs to you. And before you try to track me down and give it back, it's not from my father, it's from me. I clean pools to make my own money. Thank you sir!
Carrick Grey
Grace was honest with her parents. She always was, because trust and honesty were important in their relationship. "He gave me his number and I would like to call him." They gave her permission and she did call him. She called him all of the time. Theo worked late and crazy hours, but Carrick often made the 20 minute drive to have dinner with them.
Theo was tough on him at first, because Grace was his baby. "Does your father know you want to date a girl from Mission Hills?" Carrick didn't lie, "No sir, he thinks I'm cleaning pools. He wouldn't approve." Grace and Eloise looked at him, "What about your mom, honey?" Carrick smiled, thinking of his mother, Mia. "She died when I was 10. She would approve, I'm just like her."
Carrick pulled up and picked up Grace, she was a year younger, but she had her parents permission. "Ready to help me clean the pools? It's a dirty job." They cleaned all day and they finally got to the last house. "Carrick you just caught us." Carrick shook hands, "Hey Mr. Taylor. This is my helper, trying to expand my business and get some help, she's learning on the job." He waved at Grace. "We're heading out of town, need to catch the plane. Leave the vacuum and pump on." Carrick waved, "Yes sir."
Grace was gathering the leaves with the net and Carrick was cleaning the filter. "Can you swim?" Grace smirked, "Yes! Why?" Carrick jumped up, "Because you're cleaning the deep end and you're dragging the net too low and if you fall in, I didn't know if I needed to save you." Grace rolled her eyes and mumbled something about the net. Carrick turned on the pump and dropped the vacuum in, but he heard a splash. Grace could swim and she popped up treading water.
Carrick ran to the edge, "Are you ok?" He grabbed her hand to pull her out, "Can you swim?" Carrick rolled his eyes back, "Of course, I'm a pool cleaner. What do you…" Grace yanked him in. When he came up she didn't see those cute blue eyes, she saw dark. Then a smile, "That's it you're mine!" Grace screamed and took off swimming, but she wasn't fast enough. Carrick grabbed her just in the 4 feet. "That wasn't nice."
They were nose to nose. "Kiss me." Carrick leaned in and kissed her softly. She wrapped her legs around him and felt his hardness. "We should get out." When they did get out she looked straight at his package. He was still hard. Carrick grabbed a towel hanging on the fence and saw her erect nipples through her shirt, "Here, I have clothes in the truck. Be right back."
Grace looked at the house and thought it was beautiful. She also knew that it was probably nothing to Carrick. "Come on, the pool house has a shower." They walked in, "This place is better than mine." Carrick gave her a short sleeve shirt with a surfboard on it and some blue swim trunks. "If you pull the strings and make it tight, they will be baggy, but it should work."
Carrick pulled off his wet shirt, showing his muscles. Grace looked at him and moved closer, "Are you taking a shower with me." She touched his chest and stomach. Carrick liked it too much, "We can't." Their foreheads were touching, "Why?" Carrick moved back, "Your father would kill me." They didn't do anything, but they were sexually frustrated after that.
They had dinner and Theo saw all the signs. He walked him to his car, "Are you sleeping with my daughter?" Carrick explained everything that happened, "I didn't sir. I knew you would kill me." Theo respected his honesty and control. "I'm not giving you permission, but do you love her?" Carrick smiled, "I do."
When he came back the next day, Grace was in a mood. "I brought you lunch." Grace clicked the remote, "Not hungry." He sat down to eat alone and she stomped off to her room. He got up and walked through the house he had never been past the bathroom. He found Grace crying on the bed.
He sat beside her, "You don't want to touch me." Carrick grabbed her, "Are you crazy, I do." Grace cried, "Is it because I'm a virgin and you're not?" Carrick hung his head, "No baby." Grace straddled him and she felt his hardness again. "Well something down there likes me." Carrick knew his body was responding, "My whole body likes you."
They kissed and touched each other for a long time. "Is it going to hurt?" Carrick had an idea and just maybe she would get off, but not go all the way. He slid his fingers through her wet folds and rubbed until she came. "Did that hurt?" Carrick kissed her, "I love you!" Grace gripped his shoulders, "Holy shit! I want you."
Carrick pulled out a condom. "It will hurt Grace." Grace kissed him, "I love you too." Carrick put the condom on and pushed in. He gave her a moment to adjust, "Shit! You're big!" He knew once she pushed back she was good. He went slow and they made sweet love.
After a month he created a monster. They were in love and had sex every chance they got. They were teenagers and teenagers and sex didn't mix. They had a major fuck up when they had sex in the car. The condom never went on and he didn't pull out. They both screamed, "Fuck!" That word was said for two different reasons, Grace felt the release, but Carrick being more experienced knew the other part. "Baby, no condom." Grace cried.
They started their family as teenagers, totally unplanned. They had dreams, but being teenage parents, made it difficult. At just 16 Grace gave birth to Elliot Carrick Grey. He was adorable and had Carrick's blonde hair and blue eyes. Her parents Theodore and Eloise were beyond upset, but Carrick's father, who he was named after and was a criminal lawyer, disowned him altogether.
Even though Grace's parents weren't happy, they still helped them. Carrick's family had money, but Grace's family had love. Theo offered him a job at the body shop. "Son, this is what I know. I can teach you and you can provide for your family, but you'll never be rich." Carrick continued cleaning pools and learned the business. That was so far from Carrick's dream of a lawyer, but he did it to provide for his family.
Carrick and Grace lived with them and that allowed them to finish high school. Brentwood was long gone and Carrick attended Northridge. He also went to the tech center and learned automotive repair. Grace wanted to be a doctor, but after having Elliot she was smart enough to use her high school tech class to start her nursing career.
Two years later they welcomed Christian Trevelyan Grey, yet another slip. He was adorable too, he had Grace's copper hair and gray eyes. Once that happened Carrick no longer put off what he should have done when they knew about Elliott, he proposed. They were married a month later. "Grace, I want you to finish nursing school. Your mom said she would continue to watch the boys. I have some plans to help your dad's business." Theo talked to Carrick, "Theo, I'm sorry I disappointed you." Theo saw Elliot and Christian with his daughter, "Son, cherish these moments."
Carrick worked hard at the auto shop and he still cleaned pools. "Theo, we need a tow truck. It will bring in so much more business." Theo shook his head, "What happens when we pick up a car and they want it to go to another mechanic?" Carrick smiled at his old way of thinking, "It won't matter, we can charge them double." Theo wasn't sure, but he and Carrick gathered all of their extra money for 4 months and Carrick purchased a used truck.
After only two months, the shop's money doubled, "Kid, how did you know?" Carrick shrugged, "I don't know. I saw the numbers you were pulling in and just thought towing would bring in extra and we could charge for that too. It was just an idea." Carrick saw Theo was drowning and he needed to help.
Grace finished nursing school and with her working now and pulling overtime, they were doing ok. Elliott and Christian were being brought up with the same values and better expectations. They had trust, honesty, love, and discipline in their lives. Things were pretty good and they would stay the same for a while.
