Finis Chaldea 2004

.

"I'm sorry." Shirou nods down as he stands up, realizing that he's been lying down in the hallway. He hides his slight blush as he bows down, apologizing to the girl in front of him.

The girl has a somewhat purplish pink and grey hair that cavers her right side of her face, hiding some of her features. She has violet eyes that are hiding behind frames of glasses. She is wearing a hoodie over a shirt with a small tie and is wearing skirt with stockings.

The young girl smiles gently before shaking her head. "No, it's no problem. It was just odd. I mean it isn't morning or night yet."

Shirou chuckles as he shakes the back of his head. He looks around and sees a gray hallway with glass windows that show the outside world. There was a powerful snow storm outside that seemed to never stop as each second passes.

"Where… am I?" Shirou asks to himself.

The girl perks up. "Ah, yes. That's a question I can answer." She gives a small smile. "You are currently in the main hallway in front of the Central Command Room. It's right in front of the Main Chaldea Gate."

"Chal…dea…"

He didn't recognize that name. It sounded so foreign to him. It was clearly the name of an organization, but who was it aligned with? The Clock Tower? The Church? He only learned a bit about it from…

A girl in a red shirt and black skirt crosses her arms. Her ocean blue eyes staring at him as he guiltily scratches the back of his head while apologizing to her for his actions.

Who?

"Senpai, are you alright?"

"Huh?"

He looks at the girl who stares at him in worry. "You looked like you were having a really bad headache. You were gripping your head very tightly."

He drops his hand without even knowing it was clasping his head. "Oh… I'm sorry… I just don't remember how I got here."

"Sleeping on the floor?" The girl tilts her head in curiosity.

He shakes his head. "Not just that, but here in general. What is Chaldea?"

"You… don't remember? Chaldea is a security organization dedicated to protecting mankind. This place acts as both as a research facility and an observatory."

"Protecting mankind… huh."

For some reason, Shirou felt odd hearing those words. As though he should be happy but at the same time had bitter feelings towards it.

"When I was younger… I wanted to be a Hero of Justice."

Who was that? He can't even remember that anymore. Scratch that, there was so much that Shirou couldn't remember. There were only two names that stuck out to him in his own mind.

Sakura Matou. Someone he loved. Someone he still loves. Someone he will save no matter the consequences.

Illyasviel von Einzbern. His older sister. Someone he failed to protect and save. Her dying wish and will was for Shirou Emiya to live, no matter what form or shape.

Merlin sent him here for a reason. He just doesn't know what reason. All he knows is that this world is in trouble and that it most likely has something to do with Chaldea. The more he tries to think, the less he knows. He doesn't have that much information.

"Are you having another headache, Senpai?" Mash asked with a worried expression and a neutral one at the same time. Almost as though it was one of the very few and rare times that she uses and shows emotions.

"Ah… I'm sorry about that. It's just that I'm having difficulty remembering things." He replied honestly.

The girl looks deep into thought. "Maybe it has something to do with the Spiriton Trial you had earlier?"

"Spiriton Trial?"

"For you not to even remember that, something must have gone wrong…" She looks down in slight worry. No, it's not even right to call it that. It's more like she's just mimicking the emotions of those around her and can only experience it slightly.

"Fou! Fou!"

Shirou turns to see the small creature that woke him up jump onto Mash's lap then onto her shoulder. It continued to yell in a cute, high pitch voice that sounded way too familiar to Shirou.

It looked like a mix of a cat, rabbit, and mouse. The color of its hair and eyes looked oddly familiar to Shirou. For some unknown reason, even to him, he sniffs the air. "It smells like flowers."

The creature looks at him, and as though understanding, jumps onto his shoulder and licks him.

"Huh? Oh. Easy there."

The girl giggles. "That creature's name is Fou. We just found him one day and we took care of him ever since. He tends to do as he pleases here in Chaldea." Mash pets its head once more before it jumps and runs away. "See?"

"I see." Shirou mutters as he watches the creature walk off into the distance.

He turns back to the girl who smiles. "Normally, I'm the caretaker of him since he doesn't usually attach himself to anyone. So, congratulations Senpai. You're now it's second caretaker."

That smile is wrong. It's gentle, it's kind, but it isn't genuine. Shirou knows this. He had that same smile for so long until-

Footsteps. These sounded heavier than Fou's.

"Mash. What are you doing here?" A gentle voice came in. Shirou turned to see a man dressed with formal green clothes and a green top hat. His face has the features of someone gentle and trusting. Almost like some sort of father figure.

Mash… so that was her name. Shirou looks down in guilt as he didn't even ask her that, more focused on the situation he was in.

Mash pushes up her glasses. "Oh. I was taking care of the next Master Candidate. He seemed to be lying on the floor."

The man stops in his steps and stares directly at Shirou.

It was only for a moment, but Shirou swore he felt something nasty as the man stared at him before the feeling faded away.

The man smiles before looking at him. "So, you're the next Master Candidate huh? And your name is?"

Shirou perks up before answering. "Shirou. Shirou Emiya."

The man's attitude changes again. "Emi…ya…:

"Yeah? Is something wrong?"

The man looks again before shaking his head. "No… no there's nothing wrong. My name is Lev Lanur. I'm one of the technicians employed here."

"Umm, mister Lev, is it possible for someone to lose their memories after they try out the Spiriton Trial? Senpai here seems to have trouble remembering things. I even found him asleep on the floor."

The man shakes his head with a puzzled expression. "I'm not so sure. I don't think it's possible to. Although I can explain him sleeping on the floor was thanks to him sleepwalking after the trial."

He turns to Shirou. "Speaking of which, how long have you trained in using it? Months? Weeks?"

It's Shirou's turn to shake his head as he has a downcast expression. "Sorry. I can't even remember that much."

"Memory loss… That sound's incredibly concerning. I would like to send you to the infirmary, but the Director's orientation is starting up soon." Lev checks his watch before his eyebrows raise up again. "In fact, it's starting in a couple of minutes. You should find a seat soon. I think Mash can guide you there."

Shirou, who is still confused is grabbed by Mash, who drags him by the hand to the orientation, leaving Lev Lanur all by himself.

"How troublesome… I thought we dealt with the last one… for it to be an Emiya of all things… well, perhaps the plan may still work given time."

.

.

.

"Welcome to the special organization Chaldea." A young girl in white hair speaks loudly. Like a proud leader. She is wearing a black and orange suit that matched her eyes. Her name is Olga Marie Animusphere. The current director of Chaldea.

Shirou is in the front row. So even though he's sleepy, he's forcing himself to stay awake through it all. His head slightly wavering up and down.

The girl continues. "You have all been chosen thanks to your Rayshift aptitude and your capabilities to become a Master. Right now, we are working on fixing a new Singularity."

Singularity? What?

Master? Wasn't that something he was…

That's right. He was a Master in the 5th Holy Grail War… but then… who was his Servant?

"A point in history that threatens the future of mankind. We have found one in the isles of the East, in Japan. Right here." She points towards Japan. Right where she was pointing was a familiar place to Shirou Emiya. It caught his attention.

The city's name is…

"We named it Singularity F. We based it off the name of the city named- "

"Fuyuki… where the Holy Grail War was held."

Everyone's eyes turned towards Shirou.

Olga in particular held a glare. "Why… yes. But how did you know that? The Holy Grail War was last held in 2004."

Wait.

What?

"I'm sorry, but what year is it?" Shirou asks with seriousness, standing up suddenly.

One of the other master's chuckle. "Oh boy, looks like someone's about to get slapped."

"You…" Olga prepares to slap him.

Shirou turns to the screen and sees a date. It was marked as the date of the current day.

December 2017.

More than a decade into the future.

"Wha…"

.

.

.

"You really need to go to the clinic Senpai. You've been placed on the sidelines for the first mission." Mash says as she helps Shirou walk into the infirmary.

Shirou is still in shock on what is happening.

Mash sighs. "I've managed to call the doctor. He was sleeping in the room assigned to you, so we managed to get him out there."

It was unexplainable. His last memory is from 2004 yet his appearance doesn't match his supposed age. But his descriptions are vivid and real. Too real.

Perhaps… he is involved in this singularity?

He begins to walk up straight. Mash needing to help him less and less.

"I'm sorry." An abrupt apology that came out of nowhere.

"Huh?"

"I mean… I just brought more trouble for you. I'll try to find the infirmary on my own… you can go your way to the mission." Shirou states, with a tired and exasperated voice.

Mash hesitates before nodding. She turns to leave but she looks at Shirou once more. "I'll leave the care of Fou to you." She then walks the opposite direction, leaving Shirou alone with his thoughts.

He thinks about the fluffy creature before he walks down the hallway. He looks up to see Lev Lanur smiling.

"Man, first day for you and you already got slapped, huh." He chuckles slightly.

Shirou couldn't help but tense in fear. There's something about Lev Lanur that just isn't right. The way he smiles, the way he acts. His posture, his appearance, his aura. Everything about him just screamed that it was false.

It's almost as though he was trying to play as a human.

Shirou chuckled slightly. "Yeah. I don't really feel so well, so I'll head straight to the infirmary." He walks past Lev and goes straight ahead.

Lev stares at Shirou's retreating figure before walking away.

After walking for a bit, Shirou finds a sign with a red cross on it. "I guess this is the infirmary…" Shirou opens the door before bumping his body into someone, sending both of them onto the floor.

"Ouch." Shirou holds his chest as that's where he got bumped. He looks up to see a small girl with twin tails and wearing glasses. She seemed to be Asian and wore white robes with the Chaldea sigil on her chest. She had black hair that was tied into long but thin twintails. She rubs her head before glaring at Shirou.

"Rrrgh. Next time watch where you're going." The short girl grumbles she stands up while holding her head.

"Ah. I'm sorry…" Shirou apologizes, but in falls into deaf ears as she walks away.

Shirou hears a small chuckle. "Don't mind her. She's usually like that and doesn't talk much to people."

Shirou looks up to see a man in some sort of regal attire. White shoes, white pants, white suit, white cape, blue necktie. He has long blonde hair and blue eyes. It wouldn't be so surprising if you mistook him for some sort of powerful monarch.

Shirou…!

I ask of you. Are you my Master?

Another headache.

Shirou holds his head and winces in pain. The constant aching and the annoyance of the headaches were slowly getting to him.

"Oya? Are you alright?" A feminine yet masculine voiced asked.

Shirou looks up to see another newcomer who came along with the powerful man. He had grey and pinkish hair, and wore black clothes that show off his figure. He is wearing make up on his face and on his lips as he smiles a gentle smile. He seemed to be someone who would socialize well with others and fit into any type of crowd.

The man turns towards the newcomer. "I'm not so sure, Pepe. He bumped into Hinako and now he seems to be having some sort of headache."

The man named Pepe smiles before turning to the blonde. "Well, make sure whatever you're curious in him, you find it fast. We only have a few more minutes before we have to Rayshift."

With that, Pepe leaves.

"Sorry about that. I heard that you are the last Master candidate." He extends his hand towards Shirou, who was lying on the ground the entire time.

"Umm, yeah. I guess I am." He takes his hand and gets lifted back up onto his feet.

The man still smiles at him. "Since you are one, I might as well let you know my name. My name is Kirschtaria. Kirschtaria Wodime. I'm currently the leader of the A team."

"Ah, Wodime. I see you're here with my patient." Another voice pops in.

Shirou looks behind him and sees a man with orange hair tied into a ponytail. He has somewhat emerald eyes and his clothes looked like they belonged to a nurse, mixed with the colors of white, silver and green.

The nurse smiles at him and waves his hand. "Man, I just got called off from my precious break time… Anyway, I'm the head of the medical department, Romani Archaman."

"Romani. I just wanted to speak with him for a bit." Wodime smiles while Romani sighs and shakes his head.

"I know I like to take it easy, but you're cutting it close here, Kirschtaria. The Rayshift is about to begin. You're the head of the operation when you're out there."

So… he is the leader of the operations when they enter Singularities…

Wait…

"So why are you here? Isn't the Rayshift about to begin in a couple of minutes." Shirou asks, looking at the clock.

Wodime smiles. "Well, yes. But there's something- "

There is no warning.

The entirety of Chaldea shakes under a powerful explosion. The lights go from white to red, signaling the alarms to blare out their horns.

Romani looks up. "Wha-what's going on?!"

"Warning. Warning. Fires have broken out within the command room."

Wodime immediately stands up and rushes out. "We have to check the command room!"

Shirou looks down for one second before nodding, running after Wodime with Romani following suite.

Running down the hallways, Shirou can't help but feel like he's remembering something. His mind blanks out here and there, but there's something that comes to his mind that he can't help but feel. A form of some horrifying nostalgia.

Kirschtaria manages to reach through the door first. As it opens, his eyes widen.

There was a massive explosion. Someone must have planted bombs here. You could feel the magical energy that was dispersed into the room as it felt suffocating.

Romani turns around. "I can't let the light of the Chaldea system die out! Both of you, go back the way you came!"

He runs to go upstairs.

Meanwhile, Shirou stares at the door before turning as he realizes something.

Senpai.

"Mash!" Shirou rushes in to the debris, ready to search for her.

On the other hand, Wodime hesitates for a slight bit before searching for his own team. Perhaps there was a chance that they could be saved, since he delayed two of them for the slightest of moments.

"Pepe! Akuta!" He yells out as he goes deeper into the chaos. Running around, searching for them.

He goes to where his team should have been and finds Akuta outside her own pod, breathing heavily. She didn't seem to have any injuries, but she did seem to be affected by the explosion. "Akuta!"

She raises her hand, stretching towards him. He is so close to reaching her but he sees her mouth move.

"Don't… come… near…"

It's the last thing he hears before someone smacks him from behind, knocking him out cold.

.

.

.

Save me!

Please don't let me die!

AAAAAAAAAGH!

He should cover his ears. He's heard this before. So many times.

Every night, he hears these voices. Every time he walks through fire or even sees it, he hears these voices. Every time he tries to help people, he hears these voices.

How does he know this? He doesn't. Rather it's more of a gut feeling that he's been in a position like this before. His body is shaking as he runs through the debris. His throat is getting parched and he breathes in all that smoke.

"Mash!" He calls out.

She was the first person he knows and is probably one of the only people he can currently trust. He doesn't truly know anybody else yet.

"Fou!"

He hears it. The small creature from before.

He turns to see it jump from a high place and into the deeper part of the room, near the globe. As though it is trying to lead him somewhere. Or rather, someone.

He chases after it and sees a giant piece of rubble.

It's crushing Mash Kyrielight.

"Mash!" He leaps off and goes down to her level, immedieately reaching to grab the giant slab of stone that is on top of her.

She looks at him with pained eyes. "Sen…pai… don't… you have… to get… out… of… here…" Her body struggles to raise itself to tell him to leave. She can't even move her arms without shaking.

He feels his hands sizzle and burn. He ignores the pain. He's felt it before…

How does he know that?

He shakes his head. This isn't the time to think about that. Someone else could be dying right in front of him and he had to save her.

Magic. He recalls being able to reinforce things. He recalls the methods and the steps and begins to fire his own circuits.

"Trace… on!"

With his arms strengthened, he attempts to lift the giant boulder. The weight is so powerful, he feels like he's tearing his own arms off with that weight. It feels like it is constantly stretching and pulling itself apart as he tries to get her out.

But it doesn't budge. All he's doing is exhausting meaningless effort and burning his hands.

"Senpai… I can't get out anymore… I can't feel my legs…"

That… couldn't be…

She was just walking a few minutes ago… she was just…

'Ah.'

'Thank goodness.'

'I just lost an arm.'

'It would have been something else if I lost my entire body, but I've managed to protect Illya. The only reason I've felt this much pain is because I've never lost a limb before and though my whole body disappeared.'

Are… these… his memories…?

Missing… arm? But he has both of them right here?

Wait… who was the one…?

Why are these memories popping up now of all times!? He has to-!

"Warning. Warning. Central Bulkhead is now closing."

He turns to see the gates lock up, leaving Mash and him alone to die. He can't tell whether that Wodime person or the other two from the so called, A-Team were alive or if they managed to escape as well. The only thing that he can tell is that Mash wouldn't make it anymore.

"Finding Master Candidates. Confirmed. Now beginning Rayshift in sixty seconds."

"Sen…pai… I have… one… request…"

Shirou looks down at the bleeding girl who's smiling sadly.

"Can… you hold… my hand?"

It's such a simple request. Yet it is also the most difficult one.

This is most likely her last request.

Holding her hand would be like confirming that she is never going to see the light of day ever again. That she will never live beyond the day that she met him.

But denying that request is just as cruel. Even as Shirou would attempt to save her, deep down, he knows that he is incapable of doing so. Dying without having the most simple of desires come true is one of the most painful ways to go.

"Mash… I…" He hesitates. For the slightest of seconds, he pictures a girl with purple hair staring at him, lying down in the same position as Mash is.

He grabs her hand. "I'm so sorry."

For the first time ever, he looks at Mash Kyrielight and sees something other than false emotion.

A genuine smile.

"Thank you… Senpai."

He remembers that smile. Someone he knew smiled like that when he first met that person. But then again, Shirou doesn't remember that person.

No… he faintly recalls that he was saved by that person. When he held his hand, the person smiled with such joy, that instead of relief, he felt jealousy.

Does… that mean… he's saved someone?

"Beginning Rayshift."

The world is engulfed in white, causing Shirou to close his eyes to prevent himself from becoming blind.

By the time he opens them, he is in an all too familiar setting, in a familiar time.

He's back here.

Back in hell.

Singularity F

2004

.

.

.

Shirou traverses through the burning city. He's not running nor is he injured. He's just… walking. He doesn't know when he started, he doesn't know if he'll even stop at all. He just… walks.

This image is all too familiar.

He places his hands up to his ears, blocking out the people screaming at him.

He doesn't even know them. He doesn't even know them.

How does he remember, what does he remember, why is he remembering? All these questions about his own memories are flooding into his brain.

He can't tell. He's struggling to put himself back together as he ends up walking through the streets. The despair, the pain, the anger, the resentment, the loss. All of them make way and ignore Shirou Emiya for unknown reasons.

Shirou walks through the fire.

Reliving the past that defined him.

.

.

.

Atop of one of the many buildings in the Shinto district, a red bowman scours the city with his perfect eyesight. He will never let anything living pass through him.

It is his duty to protect her now after Shirou Emiya had failed to do so.

"Trace on."

In his hands is a morphed and twisted Noble Phantasm that belonged to the great warrior, Beowulf. It is a sword that will always track down it's prey without stop. A weapon to be feared as it thirsts for blood and guts.

Hrunting.

He takes aim at a place where the skeletons suddenly became active and fires. He aims for the buildings so that they would take collateral damage.

He drops his aim and sighs.

He knows that there is no point to this. This singularity will fall and be forgotten since Artoria is struggling to keep it together, even with the power of an omnipotent Holy Grail. This world would end soon, and both he and her would be forgotten within the canals of time.

He placed his trust in Shirou Emiya and he failed. He was supposed to save Sakura Matou and destroy the Holy Grail.

In the end, all of them had died. Illya was sacrificed by Saber, Tohsaka and Sakura died by their own hands, and Shirou died in his battle against Saber, delivering a fatal blow. He struck in her Spirit Core so deeply, that she is still healing till now.

He chuckles. Marinating an entire Singularity while being injured is no easy feat. But for someone as stubborn as her, she somehow found a way to do so. Even when altered, that part of her personality hasn't changed.

Yet… something feels off about this singularity.

Like there's some missing piece of the puzzle that hasn't been solved yet.

Archer looks down and…

No…

That should be…

His pupils narrow down with rage.

"You bastard… How are you still alive?! Shirou Emiya?!"

.

.

.

Shirou looks forward. Dozens and dozens of skeletons block the way. Each of them armed with swords, lances, bows and arrows. All of them preventing Shirou from walking forward.

Normally, one would cower in fear and run away. The sight of such monstrosities in this unknown land would be terrifying.

But not someone as twisted as Shirou.

For some reason, he held no fear. He has faced worse than this before. He will face it again.

"Get the hell out of my way!" Shirou yells as he opens his hands. His circuits flare up and the fire. The skeletons charge forth. Two of them jumping ahead and thrust their lances at him.

Two seconds.

In two seconds, he would be pierced by two lances. Therefore, he would either need to be strong enough to dodge them or he would need a weapon in the span of two seconds.

Projection magic. That was one of the few magics that Shirou Emiya knows and has mastered. Whether be it from some miracle or years of training, he cannot recall.

He sees it. The image in his mind. A pair of swords. One is as black as a shadow, seemingly empty save for the red hexagonal pattern. One is as white as light itself, seemingly void like the clouds in the sky. Yin and Yang. They were swords favored by a certain warrior who fought to protect all of mankind till he grew bitter and regretful. A rec clad warrior, a sharpened sword, a weaponized iron. He stands strong in a storm of steel.

Who was he?

He doesn't remember. He isn't even sure he knows his true identity nor his name at all. However, in the end he still remains in the mind of Shirou Emiya.

"Projection…"

His skin is burning. His arm is heating up to the point where he feels like it's about to tear itself apart. His right eye feels the crackling of an imaginary flame that isn't even there. The pressure of projecting weapons weighed down on him like a truck.

But he would make it.

The twin blades manifest in his hands in flashes of light.

"…start!"

He slashes at them. Within those two seconds, both skeletons shatter and break.

How did he summon these things? How did he know that he could use projection? He doesn't know and at this point doesn't care. Right now, there were enemies right in front of him. He needs to deal with them.

Shirou Emiya's eyes glare at the oncoming swarm of skeletons.

He charges at them.

"HROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

.

.

.

"Haaaaa!" Mash smashes the shield against more and more skeletons that tried to approach her and the Director.

She has changed from her jacket and suit into wearing some black and purple armor that reached to a skirt. For some reason, there was a hole that showed off her stomach. She wields a shield that's almost twice her size and is shaped like a circle and a cross.

She has transformed into a Demi-Servant. Currently of the Shielder class.

She could feel that Shirou was currently her Master, but the location was a bit blurry since there was just so much magical energy everywhere.

All she remembers is waking up and bumping into the director.

Olga fires another round of Grandr as she begins to sweat. "How many more of these things are there?!"

Mash slams one more skeleton into the earth before looking at the Director. "We should retreat for now! There are too many of them- "

"But even so, where can we retreat too! We've been running around everywhere and there have only been a bunch of Shadows running about!"

Mash grimaces as she knows that she was speaking the truth. They've been fighting for hours now. Pretty soon, Olga would get tired and she wouldn't be able to protect her. Without any support, they will undoubtedly die here.

"Mash! Behind you!" Olga screams as she tries to aim a Grandr shot.

She turns to see something in a black mist. It has a feminine figure and her weapons were bound to chains.

A Servant.

She tightens her grip on her shield. If that would mean she would have to fight her, then she would…!

The Servant disappears for only a second and Mash is sent flying back towards Olga. The impact from her leap shattered the ground and left a powerful shockwave.

"Agh!"

Her arms felt like they would have been torn off if she didn't place enough magical energy into the shield. Her breaths are already erratic. She looks up and her heart beats even faster.

This is what it is like to fight a Servant. It was not like how she trained at all. In fact, it was the opposite. Every instinct in her body is telling her to run away. That she wouldn't be enough to defeat her.

But…

"Haaaaa!" She has someone she has to protect.

She slams the shield front first into the enemy Servant who gets knocked back. Some distance is now placed in between them.

"You…" The Servant glares at her. Suddenly, chains began to sprout, attaching themselves between buildings to form webs. The Servant leaps from the ground and uses the chains as footing to leap off of one end to another.

Fast. That's all Mash can think. The Servant leaping off of one chain to another, leaping to the ground to confuse her and leaping off again. She was going in so many directions, it was almost as though she was nowhere and everywhere at once.

'Here it comes…!' She didn't know how she was going to get hit. She just felt it. Like some sort of gut feeling that came to her. She raises her shield.

There it is. The sound of a cannon firing. In blinding speed, the Servant strikes the shield, pushing Mash back dozens and dozens of meters and sending her to roll across the rubble and dirt. There was an even greater distance between her and Olga now.

"Di…rec…tor…" She coughs out a small bit of blood. Her arms wobbling and wiggling as she tries to stand up.

"Mash!" Olga screams as she points towards the Servant and fires. The Servant weaves through each Grandr shot and gracefully and ends up right in front of the poor girl.

Olga's eyes widen. This can't be how she dies… that's just…

The Servant goes close to her ears. "You're… too slow." She raises her spike and prepares to strike it down.

'Is… is this how I die? But I haven't… I haven't…

The dagger drops down in thunderous speed. Olga closes her eyes.

"I haven't even done anything with my life yet!"

The dagger stops.

Olga opens her eyes as the Servant stares behind herself. The skeletons seem to have all been destroyed by someone…

Standing tall, armed with his two swords, is a boy with red hair flowing with the smoke of the city and eyes glaring gold. He is wearing the standard Chaldean uniform, but even so, this aura was all too familiar to the Servant.

"How are you still alive… Shirou Emiya?"

The boy glares, his golden eyes piercing right through the Servant. Small strands of his hair slowly burning away from crimson red to steel grey. He aims one of his swords towards the Servant.

The Servant chuckles. "In the end, you haven't changed a single bit… if only… if only you had enough strength to save Sakura…"

"Don't bring up that name."

She glares at him. "You failed to save her, Shirou."

His grip weakens for the smallest of seconds before tightening it again.

No. He did save her. Right now, he is on a journey so that he could see her again. Whoever this Servant was, whatever this world is, it is not his. These are not people he's known before. These are just obstacles that were in his way.

He stares at the Servant. He doesn't know how he knows this. In fact, he will forget that he's even said this to her in a matter of moments. His mouth just opens up in order to retort.

"But didn't you fail in keeping her from becoming a monster, Rider?"

A momentary silence. But the tense atmosphere after he said that could be felt throughout the entire city. The glares that Shirou is receiving from this Servant are enough to put someone with weaker will than him shaking.

Olga stares in fear as her legs shake while Mash rushes towards her in order to keep her safe. Fou, who somehow managed to find its way to Mash, leapt onto her shoulder. There was about to be a battle.

Wait…

Olga realizes on the spot what's about to happen. She yells at Shirou. "What are you doing you moron?! A Master can't keep up with a Ser- "

That was the starting shot.

Rider leaps forward from the ground and thrusts her daggers at Shirou. Shirou raises both his swords in order to defend himself.

The clashing of metal began.

On the rooftops, the Caster class Servant smiles. "Well shit, kids got some balls."

Fuyuki 2004

.

.

"Senpai?" A young girl calls out, walking through the household.

They just made love. It filled her with more happiness than she thought it would after everything that's happened to her. She's excited for the new life that her and Senpai would have.

The poisons in her body have disappeared. She no longer feels like she's breathing intoxicating air wherever she walks, the threatening pain in her heart left by the worm of her grandfather. She feels complete.

She opens the door to his room. "Senpai?"

He wasn't there.

Oh. She gets it. They were playing hide and seek right? So, she should just walk around the house to find him. It is a large house after all, so there should be many hiding places.

She opens the door to the kitchen. "Senpai?" It is empty.

She opens the door to the vacant room. "Senpai?" It is empty.

She opens the door to the dojo. "Sen…pai?" It is empty.

It doesn't make sense. It doesn't…

"Let's go home… Sakura. Cut ties with a jerk like him already."

The boy smiles. His body is covered in so many swords, each piercing out of vital parts of his body. Half of his face was covered in swords, his shoulder filled with literal spikes, his body dying out. This is the last image in her mind before her vision gives out.

That wasn't real.

There was no way that was real.

It couldn't be…

"Senpai!"

She rushes to the shed he always sleeps in. He had to be there. He has to be there. He should be there. There was no way he wasn't, otherwise that would mean… it would mean…

She opens the door and lets the dusty winds of the shed breeze right through her. She walks inside and looks around.

It was the same as the rest of the house.

Empty.

"No… no…"

She… he couldn't….

"Sakura."

"No…"

"Sakura!"

"No…"

"Hey, Sakura. When all this is over… what do you want to do?"

"NO!"

She falls to the ground. Her body shivering and shaking, her eyes puffing and tearing. This empty shed was where he would always be. This empty shed was where he would train, where he would fix things, where he would sleep.

If he isn't here… if he isn't here…

But it couldn't be… he was last seen walking around with such a damaged body. Something that no longer resembled something human. That should be impossible, so he should just be around the corner.

"Please… please just be a dream… I can't live without you… Senpai…"

She looks up and sees a calendar with a marked date. It's now ten days into March. Ten days since the end of February.

Since she last saw Senpai.

Then it wasn't a dream.

She couldn't even do anything. She couldn't go crazy like she did before, when it was so much simpler. Everything just hurt and hurt.

It is the end of winter. A long and difficult time. She is finally free from the chains that tied her and bound her.

But her only guide vanished from this world.

The redemption starts now. The atonement is here. The end of the beginning.

One is on the path by walking the road he abandoned.

One is on the path by waiting for the promised day.

Till the end of Fate.

The end of the Heaven's Feel.

It is now the start of the Grand Order.
