… Hope's Peak University. A government sanctioned college founded by a man named Izuru Kamukura. This college was built in the middle of Tokyo to showcase their talent and their way of creating any form of art. The art can range from welding, to music, to cooking, to game design, to acting, the list goes on! While its acceptance rate is at a medium, there are two major requirements to enter this university. The person will need to have an associate's degree that falls within the program you want to take, and they need to be at least 20 years old. Once an individual graduates with a bachelor's degree from this university, this will make things a lot easier for their future, for almost every company are connected and will get information about certain students studying in certain programs. Ever since the year of 1995, Hope's Peak University has became the most critically acclaimed college in the entire country...
The year is 2028. A new set of four thousand, five hundred students are making their way to Hope's Peak University. By foot, by car, by bus, whatever anyone can do to make it to orientation on time. One of those very students is a man named Makoto Naegi... He is going in the music program. During his middle to high school years, he played an acoustic guitar, the piano, and the alto saxophone. His parents are big fans of jazz and acoustic music, which made an impact on him and his younger sister. After high school, he went to a community college to study music, while being a DJ for parties and wedding receptions. He had a pair of white bluetooth headphones on him, paired up with his phone while listening to some jazz hip-hop. As he walked amongst his fellow peers, he got a good look at the university he would soon step foot in.
I... Am I really going to be stepping in such a place like this? I feel like I don't belong, and yet. They still accepted me. I can't deny the talent that I have, but... Am I truly prepared? … Yes! I am! I AMprepared! I promise to make everyone proud. I'll do my very best... Maybe I could be the DJ for potential parties here! That would be awesome. I'll be able to show how good I am at mixing and scratching... I hope they have a lot of instruments there too. He took a deep breath and smiled, continuing to walk into the university.
He was blown away by how it all looked inside. There are students chatting with one another, some eating food, some playing on handheld systems and laptops. I'm glad I came prepared... Just to double check though. Makoto went to a nearby table and puts his two bags down. Okay. First, my bookbag. He opens it up to check if he has all the basic supplies he needs. Pencils... Paper... Folders... Books... Awesome. Once he zipped up his bookbag, he goes to his bigger bag. Laptop... Mini TV... Gaming system... Man, I love technology. Everything is portable. That's when a student walked up to him, wanting to say hello.
"Hey there! You one of the new guys?" This student looks to be 5'10 with short, black hair. He's wearing a red jacket with a graffiti style graphic t-shirt, dark navy blue pants, and converse shoes.
"Y-Yeah. I sure am. I'm Makoto Naegi. I'm working in the music program." The student gasped and smiled at him, feeling a bit excited since he is working in the same program as him.
"Me too! I'm actually in band with a few other peeps here in this building. It's nice that there's more than just us going into it. My name is Fujimura Ken'Ichi. I hope we get along!" He said to Makoto, who gave a sigh of relief since he has a good idea with who he might potentially work with.
"I hope so too, Fujimura! You seem like a really nice guy." As he was just about to start a friendly conversation with Fujimura, everyone around the university heard what seemed to be an enthusiastic, yet soft female voice.
"Attention, everyone! Orientation is about to begin! Please meet at the gymnasium as soon as possible! I can't wait to meet all you new faces!" The voice had everyone thinking... Was that the headmaster? Or perhaps, someone who is a part of the staff?
"Let's hold our conversation for later. Come on!" Fujimura said with excitement. The two decided to walk together and meet up with his other band members. After that, they all made it to the gymnasium. It looked enormous! So much wide space for everyone to walk around.
"Whoa... H-Holy crap...!" Makoto was awed by how beautiful it looked too. Then, he looks at his surroundings, seeing the people, who he thought was a super colorful cast of characters. Wow... So this is the new life I'm living? I... If this is a dream, then I don't want to wake up! As he got excited, he and everyone around him looks at the podium, seeing a woman with strawberry blonde hair, wearing a jaguar color palette fuzz coat with fishnet leggings and heels. She tapped on the microphone and began to talk.
"Welcome one, welcome all, to Hope's Peak University! I am your headmaster, Junko Enoshima! I was once a student here too, working in the fashionista program! I am sure you all have heard of me before, yes?" Many of the students, especially those working in the fashion and graphic design program, began to cheer and clap for her. "Aww! You're too sweet! … So, that being said! The four thousand, five hundred of you standing before me right now have been chosen for a reason! A reason so important in your lives that you won't be able to experience something like this ever again!"
That was until she pulls out a little remote from her left coat pocket, pressing a red button. This activated the sealing of the entire campus. A big, bulletproof glass dome covering it all. With an air pumper connected to it. The students could hear the very noise coming from outside, and they saw the glass dome covering the campus, which made students panic in a confused manner. "Alriiiight! Let's get to the best part!" Then, several individuals come out from backdoors, armed with machine guns. They begin to unload led onto the students, making a lot of them scramble around the gym.
"Don't stop until there are fifteen students left!" The sounds of gunfire and screaming had filled up the entire gym. Makoto had managed to hide behind the bleachers for a few seconds. Then, one of the gunmen pulls him out and was ready to shoot him until Fujimura, the new friend he made, speared the gunman to the floor and grabbed his gun, shooting him down. "Get out of here, Makoto!" He said as he shot two more gunmen. "I'll meet you outsi-"
BANG! Before he could finish his sentence, he gets shot in the head by Junko Enoshima, who is wielding a desert eagle. "Don't play hero." She said in the microphone as she watched more and more students get mowed down from gunfire...
Eventually, the gunfire had stopped... Fifteen students were still alive, Makoto being one of them. He had the look of horror when he saw a huge hole in his new friend's head. "F-Fujimura...?"
Junko had a huge smile on her face, taking in a deep breath when she smelt blood, death, and the biggest stench of all that filled the room... Despair.
"Oh man! Nothing's better than a bloodbath in the morning! Anyways, you fifteen students are the last survivors! Which means you all have a MUCH more special importance! You all are strong individuals who will be surviving in a little game! It will be broadcasting live all over the world! Welcome one, welcome all, to the first, ever, KILLING GAME!" Those very worlds sends chills down everyone's spine.
Th-The first ever... What now...? H-How... How in the hell did something like this get approved?! How is this even happening?! Wh-What's... What's going on?! Makoto was wanting to just scream and panic, but he did his best to keep his cool and took deep breaths. However, those deep breaths would be cut short since he can here a few others freaking out. "J-Just the name on its own sounds horrible!" One male student said.
"Aaaanyways! Let me just go over the straight-to-the-point type of rules of the game! The only way you will be able to leave this university is if you kill another fellow student and get away with it in a class trial that will be held if three people see a corpse! If you vote for the wrong guilty verdict, then you all get punished by execution! And the killer gets to leave! If you vote for the right one, then the same thing will happen to the muderer! And you all will have to continue living here until there is only ONE survivor left! Oh, and don't even think about calling the police, your parents, your outsider friends, or anyone of the matter! This dome cuts off all cellular data! Not to mention, if you even think about trying to escape, then I will have one of my boys here gun you down! Which is something the audience doesn't want since it will be just soooo boring! And I know damn well that you all don't want that either. Anyways, I need to get to some paperwork. Bye now!"
She walks off the stage and takes one of the back doors to her office. Silence fills the room for a little bit since everyone who had survived looked around the corpses. Thousands of lives that were taken this soon. The dream that Makoto Naegi thought he was going to live... Quickly became a gigantic nightmare. A nightmare that would last for a long time.
