Inari swings her legs back and forth, watching the students leave the campus. She waves goodbye at the hero students who notice her and leans against the tree she sat on, taking a bite of an apple she nabbed from the cafeteria earlier.
"What are you doing, young listener?" Present Mic asks, making Inari lean over her seat to see him standing at the base of the tree, hands on his hips.
"Waiting to jump Eraser. You know where he is?" Inari asks cheerfully. Present Mic laughs loudly at the answer.
"Right here, problem child," Eraserhead's sudden voice from above Inari makes her curse loudly, jumping. She quickly loses her balance and falls backwards, right on her back.
"Fuck," Inari groans breathlessly before she sits up. "Seriously, Eraser?"
"You need to be more alert, problem child. It'll keep you alive," Eraserhead says dryly, jumping down.
"I didn't have a reason to be alert here, fucker." The white haired woman stands up while rolling her shoulders. She glances at Present Mic and gives Eraserhead a narrowed gaze.
"He can be trusted. Explain," The black haired man demands seriously. Inari glances around, giving Eraserhead a stern look. She glances around before sighing heavily.
"Sis," Hodaka greets, making Inari jump. She turns around and gives her brother a glare. Momiji slaps Hodaka's shoulder when he snickers.
"C'mon," The white haired woman turns around, "we all have a lot to talk about with Eraser and Mic."
"Isn't he Aiza–"
"I'm informing him of the cold case," Inari interrupts Momiji calmly. Momiji quickly shuts her mouth before giving Eraserhead a smile.
"Apologies Eraserhead. Please call me Aiko. I'm a manager at Himura Investigations," Momiji quickly introduces herself, bowing slightly.
Inari leads the way out of UA grounds, a destination already in mind. She glances around and waves at a few people she knows.
"For this case, please call me Moe. If you need to talk about the case in public, Moe is a different person," Inari says quietly. "So is Aiko and so is Kaī."
"You still haven't explained anything, problem child," Eraserhead states dryly, making the white haired woman roll her eyes. Stupid paranoid hero.
Inari glances back and gives the older man a hard stare. She glances back at the curious Present Mic before sighing heavily. A familiar cafe sign catches her eye.
"Let's get some coffee," Inari says tiredly, entering the cafe. "We'll need it."
"Moe! What are you doing here?" A large woman exclaims brightly from behind the counter. Inari smiles and gives the woman a wave.
"Business, Aurelia. Is my seat open?" She asks in Italian. Aurelia Lizaola nods her head, already making Inari's favorite coffee.
"Always. Would your clients like anything?"
"Do you want anything? I'll pay," The 18 year old translates, walking towards the corner booth hidden by the counter.
"Coffee." Eraserhead sits across from Inari.
"No thanks." Present Mic slides next to the black haired man. Momiji and Hodaka sit in the two chairs in front of the booth.
"Coffee for Eraserhead, Aurelia," Inari says before she raises her hand towards her sister. Momiji quickly opens her satchel and takes out three thick files.
"Please sign these non-disclosure agreements. Anything briefed is incredibly sensitive information that no one can afford if leaked," Hodaka says, opening one of the files and taking two non-disclosure agreement contracts.
"It's necessary," The 18 year old adds, leaning into the booth cushions. "I really wished it wasn't."
Shōta and Mic have a minute long silent conversation with each other before signing the contracts. Inari sighs heavily in relief, right as Aurelia walks up with two mugs of coffee.
"You know what to do for any refills!" Aurelia places the coffee down before quickly leaving the group to their business. Inari smiles softly and takes a small sip from the steaming hot liquid energy. God, so delicious.
Inari takes a deep breath and gives the empty cafe a glance over. "What do you remember about the Nagoya Massacres?"
"What the fuck are you playing at, Moe?" Shōta snarls lowly, making the white haired woman roll her eyes
"Private Investigator Himura Eishun was there for every single one." She slouches over her coffee. "He had narrowed down the list of suspects before he was killed in the last one."
Second to worst– "He had witnessed the start of the third one. Some type of disintegrating Quirk had caused that one."
Inari glances up and gives Shōta a narrowed gaze. She sighs heavily at the slightly haunted expression on his face.
"I was thirteen and it began my investigating career, along with his daughter, Himura Inari," Inari adds quietly before taking a long sip of her coffee.
"The third–that one was the worst and most mysterious. Why did Himura not go to the heroes with this evidence?" Shōta hisses angrily.
"Private Investigator Himura Eishun was brutally killed in the last massacre," Momiji answers, incredibly subdued. "He had just gotten physical evidence during that riot before–"
Before Dad became the fucking cataclysm.
"...For the more than likely chance of a mole in the heroes and law enforcement, the investigation was kept inside Himura Investigations until there was either another... incident or more evidence is revealed," Inari forces the conversation back on track. "It is mainly to keep another... one from happening."
"A mole in the investigation? That's an extreme claim," Mic says with a small frown. Inari snorts before downing the rest of her coffee.
"It is, but with Da–with Investigator Himura getting fucking murked and becoming the cataclysm of that–of the last massacre, there is reason to believe someone told the culprit about him," Inari snarks lowly. She takes a deep breath and tries calms herself, raising her mug. Aurelia comes around and fills up her coffee, quickly disappearing back into the kitchen.
"Sorry." Inari takes another sip of her coffee. "You can see why–as the one of the only licensed person still investigating the Massacres–I had immediately given my services to Nezu-san."
Shōta gives Inari a hard glare before downing his coffee in one go. The white haired woman winces slightly and gives the black haired man a small, weak, smile.
"You could have gone to me, Moe. If this cold case is as dangerous as you say it is, I could have helped," He says quietly. Inari chuckles and averts her gaze.
"We've told her she could have gone to you–or other trustworthy heroes–"
"–but she's too fucking stubborn," Hodaka and Momiji interject while glaring at their older sister. Her ears and neck turns slightly pink.
"If this... breach didn't happen, I'd still be investigating on my own. But, if the same person who caused the Massacres is becoming active again, I want to stop it," Inari says, glaring at her siblings.
"As far as investigating goes I will be doing them alone, but I will be keeping you two in the loop," She adds calmly. Shōta gives her a stern stare.
"No. While I respect your skill in investigating, you're still a kid. I'm going to investigate with you. This is too big of a case for one person," Shōta immediately says, making Inari roll her eyes. She gives him a small glare before sighing in defeat.
"Fine, but I'm only agreeing because I know you won't involve other heroes unless I say so," Inari says with a small scowl. "Come by my work sometime next week. I'll fill you in with all that I have now."
Yo! Hope you like the new chapter! Bye!
