"Fuck off! I ain't fuckin' talkin' with you, ya police bitch!" Inari is surprised at the higher pitch Katsuki's voice takes from his furious shout.
She doesn't move from her spot on the ground, in front of the door. "Ain't moving 'til you at least listen to me." If I could move at all.
Katsuki growls furiously and crosses his arms, pouting without physically pouting. Inari sighs heavily and rubs her eyes tiredly.
"If anyone asks you anything 'bout if you interned with me during your last year of junior high, no matter how much you trust them, tell them you did. If the Commission–those fuckers–find out I lied, they will either kill you, or forever ruin your chance of being a hero." Inari tilts her head up. "I wasn't thinkin' clearly an' my Quirk was still affectin' me, but I didn't want the Commission to use you for their own selfish wants. So, I'm sorry."
"What'd you wanna fuckin' talk about?" Katsuki growls out begrudgingly. The white haired woman sighs again and stares at the kid.
"I want you, Hot 'n' Cold, and Broccoli Boi to intern with me. Eraser's gonna tell you 'bout the internships when ya go back to school, but I wantcha to choose me," She says calmly, making the blonde snarl.
"Don't tell me what the fuck to do!"
"Fuckin' Christ, Bakugō Katsuki! Did you fuckin' forget what the Commission just did to you?! The Commission's gonna be tryin' to isolate you 'cause of my fuckin' mistake! I don't want you to be collateral of my mistakes! I ain't doin' that shit again!" Inari groans in pain when she moves suddenly, and lightly bangs her head against the door.
She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. "I'm gonna ask Hot 'n' Cold later 'cause I know he'll be forced by his fuckin' piece of shit father to intern with 'im and Broccoli Boi's gonna intern with me so I can help him control that weird fuckin' Quirk of his."
"I can fuckin' protect myself, Police Hag!" Katsuki snarls ferociously. Inari smiles softly and chuckles.
"I believe it," She answers, "but the Hero Public Safety Commission has been able to get away with literal fuckin' war crimes. If ya don't wanna intern with me, at least let me see your offers. I know who's one of their spies an' who ain't."
Katsuki stays quiet, but Inari knew he didn't disagree. Inari sighs tiredly.
"Help me up. I can't move," She says tiredly, lifting one of her hands. Katsuki rolls his eyes with a scowl, but stands up. He helps the 18 year old up much more gently than she expected. Inari didn't say anything about it, but ruffles the blonde's hair.
"Thanks kid. You did good in the Sports Festival, by the way. Can't wait to see how much you'll grow by next time," Inari says with a grin before she forces herself to walk out of the room. She feels her knees buckle before she collapses.
"Ine! Shit." Inari feels arms wrap around her waist before she hits the ground. The white haired woman glances up when Eraserhead quickly maneuvers her to carry her bridal style.
"'raser." Inari whimpers in pain at any sudden movement. "'m fine, idiot."
"Fine my fucking ass. What the hell were you thinking, Inari?" Eraserhead snarls angrily, making Inari sigh heavily.
"I panicked, yes. It was a mistake. I should have gone in with a plan, but I didn't. It's too late. So, I've gotta fix my own mess," Inari states with an eye roll. "Don't scold me about it. I know, Shōta."
Eraserhead sighs angrily, not bothered to glare at the woman he was carrying. "You better come up with something, while you rest."
Inari doesn't even argue, knowing she's pushed herself to the point that she couldn't work even if she could bare the pain. She really fucked herself up this time.
Inari stares up at the white ceiling with bloodshot eyes. Her body felt like it was hit by three buses, then ran over by a bullet train. God, it hurt.
"Hey, Police Hag, you awake?" Inari yelps at the sudden question before groaning in pain when she instinctively moves her body. She turns her head and gives Katsuki a small glare.
"No, I'm just talking in my sleep with my eyes open. Of fucking course I'm awake Pomeranian! Can't exactly fall asleep in this much pain."
Katsuki trudges forward with a snarl, a large stack of papers in his hands. "Oh, fuck off! I just want to get this bullshit over with!"
"It's the day you choose your internships already?" The white haired woman states with a small frown. Time flies by when on the good drugs.
"You've been fucking high as a kite this past fucking week. I haven't been able to get any decent fucking conversation with you 'til now," Katsuki snarks in slight irritation, dropping the offers on the bed. Inari rolls her eyes while she uses her bed's remote to make her sit up.
"Let me see this complicated shit." Inari holds out her shaking hand, her other one reaching towards the end table next to her to grab her new glasses. She puts them in with a small frown and starts to quickly leaf through the pile of internship offers.
"Endeavor's a fuckin' flaming pile of trash. Never intern with him, ever. It doesn't fucking matter if he's Number 2 or shit any like that. He's also had the Commission clean up a shitload of the sketchy shit he's done. Best Jeanist hate the Commission and takes extra care with choosing his sidekicks and shit in case the Commission sends spies his way, again. I work with him a lot. Good hero, you'll learn some good shit from him," Inari says, tossing Endeavor's internship offer away from her and placing Best Jeanist's on her lap before grabbing two more.
"Hawks's a good hero and he'd teach you a lot, but right now the Commission has him on a leash. I'm working on getting him out, but you can't go to him right now. Edgeshot's good, but he knows that what he'd teach you wouldn't help you. That's why he didn't give you an internship. Mirko doesn't give out internships. Kamui Woods is new. While he's a good hero, he's still inexperienced. You're better off with one of the experienced heroes, even if they ain't top 10," She adds, tossing or keeping multiple offers as she flies through them. Katsuki watches in slight shock, overwhelmed by all the information about the heroes.
"And remember that I did give you my internship. I also gave Broccoli Boi one and I'm determined to take him as an intern. That boy fucking needs it," Inari says, muttering the last part to herself. Katsuki scoffs loudly and leans back into the chair.
"When the fuck did you get glasses?" He asks curiously, glancing at the black rimmed glasses with narrowed eyes.
Inari shrugs and pushes them up. "The Nomu ruined my eyesight permanently, the fucker. Gotta wear glasses now. Got them this week, I'm pretty sure. I don't know. I's on the good drugs the entire time."
Katsuki stays silent, staring at the glasses with an odd expression. He averts his gaze and messes with his uniform jacket.
"You scared the living shit out of us y'know." The blonde doesn't look up from his lap. "You had to be fucking resuscitated when the paramedics got you on the stretcher. They almost called it."
Inari blinks at the new information. She frowns slightly, staring down at her hands. Eraserhead didn't mention that.
"...If you aren't gonna take my offer, go with Jeanist. He'll treat ya well," Inari says softly, moving the internship offers from her lap.
"Private Investigator Ine, I–" Tenya stops walking in the doorway, staring at Katsuki in slight surprise.
"Hey there Sonic, whatcha need?" The white haired woman asks with a smile. The smile falters when she sees the blank expression on the boy's face.
"Get goin', Pomeranian." Inari leans back into her pillow and gives the blonde a pat on his knee. "Sonic needs to talk with me."
"Don't tell me what to fucking do, Police Hag!" Katsuki snarls with no real heat behind his words. He grabs his stack of offers and trudges out of the infirmary without a glance. Inari waits a few moments, staring at Tenya thoughtfully.
"Ingenium's a good fuckin' hero y'know," Inari comments, tilting her head back with a small wince of pain.
"His active career may have ended, but he'll do just as much good without fighting villains and shit," She continues softly. Tenya stiffly walks over and sits in the chair Katsuki had pulled up.
He stays quiet for a long minute, staring down at his clenched fists. "...Midoriya-kun mentioned that you were going to patrol around Hosu for the internship week."
"You should decline his internship acceptance," Inari thinks to herself, not looking at the teenager.
"I am. I have a couple cases there, even a stakeout case. It'll be a bit of boring work, but it's half of what heroes do when not apprehending villains and criminals," The private investigator answers calmly. She takes a deep breath and glances at Tenya. She gently grabs one of his clenched fists and rests her shaking hands over it.
"As someone who is a part of the law enforcement, I am literally obligated to tell you that revenge isn't worth it and you will be killed by Stain," Inari starts calmly.
"He needs to be stopped. He–Stain needs to pay. My brother is–was a good hero and Stain had taken that from him! From society!" Tenya bursts out furiously. Inari doesn't flinch back at the anger directed at her and calmly rubs circles into the teenager's fist.
"As someone who has killed someone for revenge before, I won't say anything," Inari continues as if Tenya never interrupted her. "But you have to promise me that you will take back up. That you will not allow your anger, your rage, to cloud your mind."
Tenya blinks in shock, eyes widening. Inari stares into his eyes and gives him a hard look.
"Don't kill him. That is the only thing I have to say. I didn't want to talk about this until little bit later with the rest of your class, but there will come moments where the only decision you will have as heroes is to kill someone to save more. Killing someone should never be taken lightly, Iida. You think about this and you have to think about it real good." Inari tightens her hold around his hand. "Do you understand me?"
Tenya stays quiet, making Inari glare at him. "Iida Tenya, do you understand what I am saying? Completely?"
He stays quiet for a moment longer before slowly nodding his head. Inari sighs softly and gives him a smile.
"Then, I'll take you as one of my interns. But," Inari lifts a finger, giving the teenager a pointed look, "I am serious. If there is even a single moment where you wander off to defeat Stain without me or Broccoli Boi as backup, I am ending the internship and you will leave Stain to the proper authorities."
Tenya nods his head with a frown, making Inari sigh. Teenagers are so hardheaded.
"You're such a horrible role model. You know if he dies, it will be all. your. fault." Inari sighs heavily and ruffles Tenya's hair.
"Which is why he'll intern with me. I'll be able to keep a close eye on him," Inari reasons with herself calmly, a scowl forming on her face. This world is too fucked up for these kids.
Hey! Hope you like the new chapter! Sorry for not updating in a bit. I was sick for like a week straight, then I had a small amount of writer's block, then some family shit happened.
Anyways, hope you all are enjoying the story so far! Bye.
