(Niles POV)
As Niles picked up the phone to call Daphne, he shook his head in disbelief, for even he couldn't believe the day he'd had. Against his wishes, he'd been yanked away from his beautiful wife and the Gifted Baby Show to come to the aid of his brother, who was having another battle of ethics; he'd stolen from a neighbor and had enlisted Niles to help him return said object. However, the entire afternoon had been one disaster and Niles wished he'd never answered his cell phone. But he loved his brother and he knew that Frasier would have come to his aid had he been in the same predicament. However, when he'd told Daphne that he had to leave unexpectedly, he could tell that she wasn't happy at all. He was bound to get a lecture from her when he returned on how they both needed to be there in order to plan for the baby and that Frasier could take care of himself. It was all true and Niles should have put his foot down when Frasier enlisted his help.

Now his heart raced as he tried to dial his wife's number. But he'd no sooner pushed the last button when the door opened and an angel appeared in the doorway. In one fluid motion he rose from the sofa and stared at her.
"Daphne..."
"Oh good, you're still here. I was afraid I'd missed you. Well, I always miss you, but you know what I mean."
The compliment was like music to his ears and he went to her, drawing her into his arms for a kiss. "I missed you too, Sweetheart. And I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry. You were just trying to help your brother."
"Can I make it up to you?"
"Of course you can… we can start when we get home."
Niles felt himself reddening, unable to look at his brother or father. "Um, Daphne…"

She laughed and kissed him. "I meant that you can help me unload the things I bought at the Gifted Baby Show, but I like your idea as well. We can get started on that when we put things away."

He kissed her again and it was hard to pull away, thinking of the passion that would come later that evening. Even though she was nearing her due date, they'd found ways to pleasure one another that were far better than anything he could have imagined. "I-I'd like that." He stammered. "Oh…"
"What's wrong?"
He reached for his forehead. "My head is killing me, no thanks to Frasier."
"Hey, it wasn't my idea to climb that stupid ladder, Niles!"
"What are you saying, Niles, that it was my fault?"
"What are you two talking about?" Daphne asked.
"Um, nothing. I'll tell you later. But I have a splitting headache."
She smiled and stroked his hair, and then kissed his forehead. "I'm sorry sweetheart. Let me get you some aspirin and we can go home. I'll take care of you. I am rather tired from all of that shopping."
He couldn't resist kissing her again. "I love you so much, Daphne."
"I love you too. Now just stay here and we'll get you all taken care of. And then we can go home and you can help me unload the car and put things away in the nursery. And then…" She walked over to him and whispered in his ear, making his heart palpitate like crazy.

"Really?"

Daphne grinned. "Yes. I promise I'll make it happen."
He rose to his feet at once. "I can take some aspirin at home, Daphne. I think it's time to leave."
Daphne smiled at Frasier and Martin. "I think so too."
And from the looks on their faces, they seemed to approve.
