(Daphne's POV)

When Cindy and Brad left, Daphne couldn't bring herself to look at anything other than her coffee cup. Her stomach felt as though it was tied in knots and despite the fact that she was very pregnant, she didn't like the feeling at all. It was as though a vision was going to surface at any moment. Roz's perspectives on pregnancy were more honest, Daphne reasoned, but that was precisely why she was feeling this way.
"I really think I like the blue for a boy or a girl, don't you, Daphne?"
She looked up, suddenly realizing ling that her husband had been speaking to her. But for how long she had no idea. "What?"
"I said, I think I like the-."
She burst into tears, which was nothing new and Niles should have been used to it by now, but judging from the way he was comforting her, he was clearly concerned. How would she even begin to explain to him why she was crying, when she wasn't even sure herself?

"Sweetheart, what is it?"
She looked into her eyes, relishing the feel of his hands on her forearms and blinked, causing more tears to fall. "Oh, Niles I'm scared!"
"What are you scared of?"
"Having the baby."
"Daphne, we talked about this, remember. Nothing is going to go wrong, I promise."
She nodded. "I know, but I just keep thinking about what Roz said about childbirth. What if it hurts, Niles? What if I can't take it? What if…"
"Daphne, Daphne, everything will be fine, I promise."
"But Cindy and Brad said-."
"Look, forget about what Cindy and Brad said. Don't get me wrong, I like them but their method of childbirth is a bit unorthodox, don't you agree?"
"You mean you don't believe in all that stuff… the sympathy nausea, the cravings…."
"No. I mean… I think it's wonderful that Brad feels that he can mimic what Cindy is going through but he can't really and truly know, just like I can't. It pains me to see you this way, Daphne. But one thing is for certain." He took her hand and brought it to his lips.
"What's that?"
"I'll be there for you; with you, for as long as you need me. We're going to see our child into this world together. And I'm going to do my best to make sure you're in as little pain as possible."
She smiled and drew him to her, kissing him again and again. And then she drew back and smiled. "I love you, Niles."
He leaned his head against hers. "I love you too, Daphne."
