The Second to Last Chapter
As I watched them disappear into the Bubble I felt my physical body start to break down before it fell to the ground as I shimmied out of it, much like a snake shedding its old skin.
It was a quick and surprisingly painless process and within seconds I was opening my new/old eyes to a world full of more color and life then my human eyes had ever been able to see. Having regained my former vision I could now see the small earth faries who lived in the human world that was currently flying around me, having been disturbed by the magic the Druids had sent into the ground.
Not wanting any innocent Fae to be caught up in the battle about to happen I made a portal and spoke to them in the Fae tongue,
"This portal will take you to the Fae world, stay there until this battle is over."
As soon as the last fairy had gone through the portal I shut it and turned my attention to my gathering enemies which was a surprising mixture of various Fae and Druids that were gathering in a tight formation but keeping their distance. I wasn't surprised to see the types of Fae that were gathering. They were all dark Fae, mostly the ones who took pleasure in human pain and suffering and lived in the darker reaches of the Fae world however there were a few surprises mixed in among them which caused me to worry.
Taking a few slow deep breaths I steadied my nerves as I began to realize the magnitude of the battle I was about to face when the Bubble which I had placed Bella/Aine, Jacob and Jasper into was sliced open from the inside and Aine in her full Fae form came out along with Jacob and Jasper while I caught a glimpse of human Bella still inside of the Bubble as it was shut back up.
"What are you doing?" I demanded not specifying a name because I was in disbelief about all three of their actions.
"Us? What do you think you were doing? I know you can fight Babt but you don't need to do it alone." Aine replied as she called forth her bow and arrows made of pure starlight, something that would kill any dark Fae upon contact.
"And while we may be as confused as all get out, you're still you regardless of your name and change of face and body." Jasper said and Jacob continued,
"And we can and are more than willing to fight with you so don't think you're getting rid of us that easily!"
I was honestly stunned by their words, I was so used to having to fight alone and watching my own back that their words actually brought tears to my eyes causing me to blink rapidly and shake my head to keep my tears at bay.
"Well now you three have done it! Making me cry on the battlefield. How rude." I said backhanding the tears that did spill out of my eyes off my face before pulling myself together and clearing my throat.
"So what weapons would the two of you like? We've got a long day and night of fighting ahead of us." I said as I kept an eye on the growing hoard of enemies.
"I don't need a weapon." Jacob said as he suddenly leapt into the air and burst into a huge brown wolf, the magic protection I had given him taking the physical form of armor over his vulnerable points.
"I'll take a longsword." Jasper said and I nodded, pulling one of my favorite longswords out of it's resting place in a storage seal in my left arm.
"This has the power of pure lightning. Whatever or whoever it cuts will immediately be burned without even ash being left behind. It will also protect you from any attacks behind you with a lightning barrier. Don't worry it will not work for anyone I do not hand it to." I said knowing that vampires were funny about light and fire.
"Thank you." Jasper replied taking it reverently.
"Alright. Let's get this battle started." I said pulling out my favorite pair of twin daggers that had the power of the elements stored in them.
"Not without us." A familiar voice said from my left calling my attention to it as a crack of light slit the vail that kept the Fae world and the Human world separated. Looking for the speaker I was surprised to see three familiar ladies,
"So I'm guessing you're not actually the Head Nurse and nurses?" I said, staring at the now recognizable elleth's who had once been the Head Nurse, Nurse Yuki and Nurse Yin.
"I am Yexwah, Third Princess of the Quinu Tribe. These are my younger sisters, Yuli and Elva. We are a part of the Protection group who came together to watch over both of you as you grew up as Isabella and Gemma Swan. Sadly we could not interfere in things that were human of nature but now we have come to aid in the battle. If you will allow us to, Queen Babt, Queen Aine." Princess Yexwah said.
Aine and I shared a glance and a quick mental communication before I turned my attention back to Princess Yexwah.
"We welcome you to shed your blood and bet your lives with us as we destroy our enemies." I said reciting the ancient words that I had always used when accepting an alliance for war.
"We are honored to be welcomed. Death to our enemies, long life to our alliance." Princess Yexwah replied, showing me the palms of her hands as she did so. Using my left index finger I slashed a line across my right palm before doing the same to her right palm and placed my bleeding palm over hers mixing our blood as was the ancient custom.
"How many are you?" I asked her now that the formalities were done and our alliance was sealed.
"Three thousand seven hundred and forty-nine all of us veteran warriors from the Last Stand." She replied, straightening up.
"Good because it looks like the Days of Darkness are starting now." I told her letting her know the seriousness of the situation.
The Day's of Darkness had been foretold in an Ancient Prophecy that had been written on the walls in the old Queen's room. I had always known I would be fighting in the Day's of Darkness but I had never been sure which side I would be fighting on.
"The Days of Darkness are you sure?" Aine and Princess Yexwah said in unison, sounding surprised and worried.
"Yes from what I can ascertain there are over three hundred Druids that haven't attacked us yet and some of them carry the mark of being trained by the Witches. Also mixed in with the Dark Fae are Beastmen, Sprites, at least two dozen Enslaved, about a hundred Dark Elves and a few Changelings." I replied naming off the ones I had seen come out of the portals.
"If the Days of Darkness have come shouldn't we call the Old Alliance?" Aine asked me, sounding increasingly worried.
"The Old Alliance was broken when the King and Queen of the Fall attempted to take over the Council of Seasons." I reminded her, I had actually been fixing things up with the Council when we had been trapped and our spirits stripped from our bodies.
"My Queen, I think you should sound the call, just because they don't have to come doesn't mean they won't." Princess Yexwah said, causing me to consider the wisdom of her words before nodding in agreement.
"You are right. Everyone stand back." I said and immediately everyone backed away from me as I tilted my head back and stared up at the sky before closing my eyes and after pulling in a deep breath I bit my left wrist and began to swirl my blood around me until there was enough of it to move up into the sky. Forming my banner and placing the call sign for the Old Alliance I sent the battle banner to the Fae world with my unique signature so all who saw it would know who it had come from.
"Alright everyone, prepare yourselves." I called out as Princess Yexwah's army took formation behind the seven of us and we all waited for one of two things to happen. Reinforcements to arrive from the Fae world or the enemy to begin their attack.
