Sho's Interview
"Have you ever been in love?" The question was asked.
If he'd been asked a year ago, he would have scoffed at the question and brushed it off. Had it been even a month ago, his reaction would have been similar, but now…No… Just thinking about it brought intense heartache and pain. He was silent. Desperately attempting to pull on a mask of some sort to hide this ugly being that dwelt within him.
"I see… It didn't work out?" The hostess asked, and he shook his head in honesty.
"I…" He began a little hoarsely. He could sing like an angel at the drop of a hat, but as of this moment, he just couldn't find that beautiful money-maker. He sighed a little. "I treated her badly and got what I had coming to me." He admitted.
The hostess cocked an eyebrow in interest and straightened in her seat. This sounded like something very interesting. "Surely it couldn't have been that bad." She coaxed her guest.
He shook his head. "We grew up together. She'd always been so giving. Constantly had a smile, even when she didn't have a reason to. Even when she'd seen me with other girls that I thought were better than her. Which at the time, really seemed like they all were. Anyone, but her."
He paused for a moment and the hostess handed him a warm cup of tea. It was always something she did for her important guests. It made them feel more relaxed and gave a homey atmosphere to the show. The viewers loved it and she was always able to pull even the darkest secrets from her guests… Like Ren Tsuruga or as everyone else now knew him as, Kuon Hizuri. She'd been the first to pull out that he'd been married for almost a year and was expecting his first child with the actress Kyouko. Her viewership went up exponentially because of that little reveal. Now she was about to get something juicy on Sho Fuwa.
"At the time, I honestly didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt for what she'd given up to come with me to Tokyo and take care of me." He continued and shook his head. "Not in the way that most would think. She took on three jobs, mostly full-time. She did odd jobs on the side and was barely home when I was. All I actually had to do was write music, go to auditions, eat, shower, and sleep. She never asked me to pay my part in any of it. She supported me and my dream completely." He chuckled a little wryly. "Right up until the moment I showed her my true colors. I honestly didn't expect her to actually hear me telling anyone that old line that I gave to all the girls when they asked about her. She'd come to cheer me up because I was being a spoiled moody brat the night before. Just before she'd walked in she'd heard the line I always used to comfort women that I wanted to 'get closer to'… so that they wouldn't worry about me being involved with anyone but them." He shook his head. "No… that's probably a lie. I think I actually believed it at the time. I really thought she was plain and boring, without any…" He paused, trying to think of a less offensive word or phrase than what he'd used that night. "attractiveness. That she was only brought along to be my maid. The way she was, because everything she did was for me and not herself, she would have never been able to boost my image." He took a drink of the tea. "That was really the only thing I thought about at the time. My image, and what girl or woman that could look good standing next to me. It had never really occurred to me that it could or ever would be her."
He looked up and gave a small smile, confusing the hostess and shook his head again after taking another sip of tea. "Boy did she surprise me." He chuckled. "Stupid me thought she would cry, throw a tantrum or do something that most girls would do."
"She didn't? Even after you said that about her?" She asked, trying to keep the anger and shock out of her voice. If she slipped up, this man wouldn't finish his story and the viewers would be disappointed.
He smiled and chuckled again. "Nope…" He laughed. "Imagine my surprise when I found a full meal from Mos Burger, Strawberry shake and all… flying at my head at full speed." He shook his head. "She had the scariest laugh." He shivered a little. "I suppose, at the time, I should have known that she would be able to fulfill her vow to make me bow to her." He shook his head and laughed a little. "Boy did she ever show me." He murmured, the sound barely able to pick it up. He looked up from staring into his cup and smiled an honest smile. "She's the only one that I can admit defeat to, in the industry and life." He shook his head. "You know? My parents actually adopted her when they found out what I did. They didn't even tell me…"
"Sh-She's your sister?" She asked incredulously.
He shook his head. "NO, no! My adoptive sister and not until a couple of years ago. Jeez… Don't blow it out of proportion. I would never…fall in love with my blood sister."
She furrowed her brow. "Okay… You're talking about Kyouko? Hizuri-san's wife? That Kyouko?"
He sighed out a little sadly. "Yeah… That Kyouko."
She furrowed her brow. "So why are you telling me this. What made you want to reveal something like this… It's so… personal." She almost felt a little bad about the reveal now.
He leaned back in his seat and raked his fingers through his blond hair. "I suppose a cautionary tale, maybe? To warn others like me to appreciate those around them. Those that help them out… don't take them for granted, because I guarantee you will regret it with all your heart. Nobody gets to where they are in this industry without a little help from those around them… And if there is a person there that's given everything for you, be careful or that person will end up giving that beautiful, heartfelt smile to someone that actually deserves it. That treats them as they were meant to be treated and you better believe that someone won't be you."
