Hey, guys! Long time no see!
So, I've had this book planned since April or something, but I ended up getting stuck. BUT it's finally out and I'm so excited to share it with y'all!
I hope you enjoy!
Chapter One
To Lois Kent, there was nothing very special about the sleepy little beach town that she and Clark had chosen for their honeymoon. It was small, and didn't seem to get very many tourists, but perhaps that was the reason Clark had wanted to go there. It would bring less attention to the alien she had just married.
Clark looked over to her and smiled his sweet little grin that just lit up Lois's world like the sun in the sky. He was so adorable, yet he hated when she called him that. So she called him that anyway.
"What's on your mind, Smallville?" She asked as she reached over and squeezed his muscular arm. It was a mix of firm and soft, the perfect mix in Lois's mind. She couldn't help but smile to herself about the man she had won over. A true man of steel with a soft and gentle heart. She couldn't stop the little flutter her heart did.
Clark looked back to the road, but continued to smile to himself. For some reason, he had convinced her that the best way to travel would be a car. She didn't understand why. He literally had super speed, but his big puppy-dog eyes and his little pout won her over.
"You," he said simply. In the fading light of the sunset, his blue eyes sparkled like the beach Lois could see from the window, and his hair shined almost auburn. Everything about Clark made Lois's heart thud in her chest and made her world spin. It must be another superpower of his, because she was head over heels for him.
"Aww, Smallville," she exclaimed, then ruffled his hair. She loved how playful she could be with him. When they weren't making out or working, their favorite thing to engage in was their playful banter. Sure, it had started out harsh and mean, but the longer it went on and the more they fell for each other, the more it became playful and loving. Lois knew that Clark would never hurt her and she knew that she would never hurt him.
"I can't believe we're almost at the hotel," he said after a moment of silence between the two of them. "Driving for almost two days is exhausting."
Lois chuckled. "Now imagine if you had just ran here," she teased. She had tried to convince Clark that the super speed would be the best way to get there, but he had resisted throughout the entire conversation. And he had won, even if he was regretting it now. "We would have been here yesterday instead of being stuck in this car. But you didn't want that."
Clark looked over at her, but he couldn't even manage a comeback or retort. Just a smile. A smile that Lois knew she would cherish forever.
Lois hadn't really been expecting to wake up before Clark.
The sun was just starting to peak up from behind the trees, it too seemed as sleepy as both Clark and the town.
Of course, Lois paid no mind to these things as she began to brew a pot of coffee.
The kitchen was small. Smaller than she would have expected from their rental house, not that it was much of a problem. After all, they would be eating out most days anyway. It was their honeymoon and Superman's vacation.
Lois leaned her jaw against her fist, too tired to keep her head up without the precious coffee that would start her day.
Finally, after what felt like hours, her coffee was finished and in a mug in her hands.
She felt almost antsy though, without a story for her to work on. Her entire day always seemed to center around her work, her passion to make the world a better place. It felt wrong to be without the notebook or laptop in her hands. She had to constantly remind herself that she was on her honeymoon, that she should relax and spend time with Clark.
Clark...
At this point, Lois was a little concerned that he was still asleep. Martha had warned her that he was a heavy and late sleeper, but it had gotten better after he had moved to Metropolis. It didn't happen as often. Especially after he became Superman. Lois was pretty sure he stayed awake on the pure desire to save lives some days...
She sighed, then walked into their bedroom and over to where Clark laid on his stomach. He was still asleep, his eyes closed and arms wrapped around the pillow that supported his head.
Lois reached down and ran her fingers through his soft bedhead. There was something about stroking his hair when it didn't have hair gel in it that made her smile.
After a second though, she reached down and kissed his temple. "Hey, wake up, sleepyhead," she whispered as she rubbed his bare back.
Clark let out a soft moan, then rubbed his eyes. "What time is it?" He asked, his voice as sleepy as his big blue eyes.
Lois looked down at her watch, then back up at her husband. "Time for breakfast," she said. "It's almost eight."
He sighed before stretching. "Really?" He said. "Ugh, I hardly got any sleep last night…"
Lois frowned. Clark never had problems sleeping. "You okay?" She asked.
"Nightmares…" He told her, then shook his head. "But it doesn't matter. I'll be fine."
Lois leaned over and kissed him. "Okay, but tell me if it does matter, okay?"
Clark nodded and smiled his sweet, sweet smile. Lois had always wondered how a city girl had fallen for a farm boy like him, but when she saw his smile, everything made sense.
"I will," he said, then stood up. "Now, we should go get breakfast. I'm starving."
Lois grinned. "As much as I love the idea," she began as she leaned forwards on the bed. "You should probably consider a shirt."
Clark leaned over and kissed her, his lips soft and gentle against hers. "Always so demanding," he said as he kissed her again.
Lois smiled as she let herself lean into the kiss and deepen it. Her love for her husband could hardly be explained with normal words. Love was too small of a word, the passion she felt for him could hardly be contained in it.
Even though she sometimes felt lost without a story to work on, she was excited to be on her honeymoon and spend time with the love of her life. They would finally have time to relax and be with each other.
But too bad life doesn't always turn out the way it's planned.
