As Jack flew to where Sandy was he took out the missing poster of Jamie and looked at it. Jamie was wearing a blue vest with a tan pullover sweater underneath and ripped jeans. It says that he was last seen in green and grey pjs and the date when he was last seen was October 16th, 2 and a half years ago.
Jack was lost in his thoughts, in so deep that when he got to where Sandy was he flew right into him and knocked him over.
"Sorry Sandy!" Jack yelped as he went over to go help him up. Sandy made a bunch of gestures and pictures over his head which Jack assumed meant Sandy was telling him off.
"Sandy, sorry about that but I need your help." Sandy stilled and then pointed to a question mark that had appeared over his Jean and motioned for Jack to continue. So Jack launched into the story about Jamie being missing and Sophie and him thinking it was Pitch and what North had to say on the whole thing.
When he was finished Sandy was quiet and then a flurry of pictures made out of yellow dream sand appeared over his head. Jack had gotten better at understanding him in the past decade so what he got out of all that was this: Sandy had no idea about Jamie so Pitch completely used up his energy to hide it so Sandy did feel when he had been doing things in the past couple years. He occasionally felt energy surges from the general area around Pitches old stronghold where he held the tooth fairy's captive. But the weirdest thing was that some of the energy didn't belong to Pitch. It was similar but not quite right.
That made Jack even more nervous because what if Pitch had a new ally and they were doing something to Jamie?!? He thanked Sandy and flew to where Pitches stronghold was.
There was one problem though, and that problem being, he couldn't get in. The thing about evil fortresses was you usually can't get in without an invite. "Ugh, great." He muttered when he got there. "Just great." He kicked over an ugly gargoyle looking thing. Then Jack had an idea. The thing about this idea was that it was a really bad idea. You see, the idea involved going down to the Warren and asking Bunny for help. Since Bunny could get pretty much anywhere in the world through his tunnels Jack figured he could get him inside Pitches castle looking thing.
Just as Jack was deciding that that was probably the best way to go he heard a voice.
"You'll never find him," came the singsong voice of Pitch Black. "You might as well give up now Jack. Save yourself the trouble."
Jack yelled out "Pitch! Where is Jamie! What have you done with him!" Pitch just laughed and said "Like I said, you will never find him, but," he sighed, "If you insist."
Jack was instantly surrounded in nightmare sand and tumbled and rolled around inside of it, but this stuff was different from the stuff that was on Jamie's bed. The texture was the same but there were swirls of silver in it. Jack didn't pay them too much attention though, he was too busy trying not to hurl.
When the sand dissipated Jack found himself in the centre of the Warren.
"Crikey! What are you doin, mate? Huh?"
Jack flopped over and lay on the ground, trying to get his bearings and trying to figure out how Pitch knew that he had to come here and why he sent him exactly where he wanted to go.
"Jack?" Bunny hopped toward him. "What happened mate?" Jack sat up groaning. "Ugh, my head."
"Sooo, are ya going to tell me why you came to my Warren in a swirl of black sand and nearly squashed me'n my eggs, or you just going to have yourself a little nap?" Bunny asked. When the world stopped spinning and there was only one Bunny and not 5, Jack began his story again. By now he was getting pretty sick of having to re account what happened to everyone but if they helped then it was worth it.
"Jamie, you mean the last light? That one kid who still believed?" Asked Bunny looking at the missing poster and the tiny jar of nightmare sand that Jack had handed him when he got to that part of the story. "That's the one," said Jack.
Just then Jack looked down and reeled backwards. Bunny looked at him and then looked down and took a step back. Right where Jack had landed was a stain of nightmare sand embroidered with silver swirls.
"What the-" Bunny said softly. Jack took the bottle of the original sand from bunny and poured some onto his palm, comparing the two sands. He dumped the sand back into the jar and dusted off his hands.
"This is why I'm here," said Jack, pointing to the sand. "Aside from finding Jamie I need to know how Pitch is making this new sand. It's fairly new or else the sand from the day Jamie was abducted would have silver in it too."
Bunny nodded and then absent minded picked up an egg and started painting it with carful strokes of forest green. "Well, is there anything I can do to help?" He asked looking up to where Jack was painting a blue egg with patterns of frost. Jack looked up and told Bunny his master plan.
"So lemme get this straight," Bunny said after Jack told him the plan. "You are going to rescue Jamie by yourself and you want me to help you sneak inside of Pitch Blacks stronghold, the guy who almost killed us and would have if not for Jamie, using my tunnels?"
"Yep, that's about the size of it," said Jack, gliding down from the top of one of Bunny's warrior egg statues. Bunny took a beep breath before bursting out, "I love this plan! You might get killed, and if you don't, you'll rescue Jamie! It's a win win!"
Jack smirked and replied "Aww Bunny, I thought we were closer than that!" Bunny snorted and beckoned him closer. "Alright mate, I'll get ya to Pitches fortress. Are ya sure you don't want me to come help ya?" Jack came closer and said "Nah, I got it covered. I'll be in and out, quick as a bunny. You know, a stealth mission." Jack snuck around Bunny on his tip toes and then bonked him on the head with his stick. "Ouch!" Cried Bunny giving Jack a look. "Suit yourself mate, but I'll have a tunnel open every hour for the next 24 hours. If you and Jamie aren't back by then I'm going to get North, Tooth and Sandy and we're coming in after ya, got it?"
Jack smiled. "Aww, you do care," which Bunny took as a 'Got it,' and he opened up a tunnel. He made a sweeping bow and said "Ladies first," to Jack. Jack chuckled and leapt into the hole.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Bunny muttered. Then he jumped in after Jack and the tunnel closed up, leaving a pale blue flower in its place.
