"Jamie NO!" Jack yelped, trying to get away but it was too late. Jamie was on him, landing blow after blow onto Jacks head and upper body.
Jack tried to get away but it was no use. When ever Jack tried to get up and fly away Jamie lashed out with his new nightmare sand, anchoring him to the floor.
Jack really didn't want to believe it, that Jamie, his Jamie, his best friend, the first person who could see him, was evil and trying to kill him.
In the background he was dimly aware of Pitch laughing but it sounded dull and far away, like they were underwater.
Jack tried to fight back after he got over his shock but by then it was no use. Jack shot out ice spiked and even tried punching and kicking but Jamie dodged.
"It's no use Jack," Jamie said in that song song voice that Pitch often used. As Jaime was gloating Jack sent out another wave of spikes, this time catching Jamie in the side. It didn't go in but a few drops of scarlet blood dripped out.
Jamie hissed and put a hand to his side, feeling the injury.
"You are going to pay for that, Frost." He yelled as he launched himself at Jack again. This time there was no batting away. Jamie lashes out with the sand and it wrapped around Jack in the form of chains. The black and silver sand chains lacked themselves onto the cold stone floor, forcing Jack to his knees. Jack managed to wrestle one arm free and wipe his forehead. His hand came away sticky with blood.
The chains wrapped around his free arm, forcing it to his side. Then Jamie came in, kicking and punching, blows raining down on his face, arms, chest, stomach. Anywhere that wasn't covered in chains was a target for Jamie.
Soon Jack was curled up in a ball in the floor, shaking. He felt the chains in wrap themselves and he weakly lifted his head to where Jamie was sneering at him.
"Pathetic," Jamie spat. "I was expecting more of a fight from you, Jack. I honestly don't know how you managed to beat my master 10 years ago."
"Ya," said Jack, trying to sit up and wincing from all the pain. "Well at least I don't look like I'm going to a funeral in the 1500's."
Jamie laughed. "Classic Jack, always with the snarky comebacks and sarcasm." Then he lunged out and kicked Jack backward, sending him flying back a few feet. Jack let out a noise that sounded like a hurt puppy.
The sand encircled him again, squeezing him tight and lifting him up off the floor.
Jamie came over and lifted Jacks head up so that they were looking one another in the eye.
"After 2 and a half years you come," whispered Jamie. "2 and a half years. Do you know what happened to me in that time Jack? Do you want to know what he did to me?" Jack could do nothing but stare at Jamie in horror.
"For months when I was all alone in that despicable dungeon I would yell and scream for you until my voice failed me. And did you come? Even after a year had gone by, I was stubborn. I clung to the hope that you would come to save me. But did you show up? No, you didn't. After almost a year and a half of Pitch working on me, doing things to me, TORTURING ME, I finally started to loose hope. Pitch used that, used it to make me hate everything, everyone for not coming to help me. And he offered me a way out, a way to become better. And you know what? I took it."
Jack was going deeper into despair with each word that Jamie said, somehow knowing that he was telling the truth.
"Pitch Black remade me, turned me into his dark prince and you know what? I like it."
With each word Jamie started glowing with dark energy until he was floating off the ground and literally sparking with it.
Pitch came down and stood beside Jack. He leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Beautiful isn't it? What he's become? Of course the first few times he remembered you, he got all sad and cried about it. It wasn't a problem though, all I had to do was re-blender his thoughts, inject him with his worst fears come to life, and soon enough he was my perfect little minion again."
Jack could almost feel Pitch smiling next to his ear. Jamie came down and released the tendrils of sand and Jack came down with a crash.
'The whistle!' Jack remembered. He weakly fumbled around in his pocket and then once his shaky fingers curled around it he curled up on his side so that Pitch and Jamie wouldn't see him blow it. He brought it to his lips and blew into it as hard as he could. No sound came out and Jack hoped that he just couldn't hear it, and that it wasn't broken.
Jamie came over and pushed him, making him sprawl out and drop the whistle. Jamie went over and picked it up, and then went over and presented it to Pitch.
Pitch cursed. Jamie asked what it was and Pitch replied, "It's and Easter whistle, you fool. How could you not sense it on him? Now that stupid Easter kangaroo will be here soon with reinforcements. Come on," he said grabbing Jamie's arm and yanking him away.
Jamie's eyes widened and he yelped, "No wait! I'm sorry, I-" but Pitch made a gag out of nightmare sand and it attached itself to Jamie's mouth. Then Pitch melted into the shadows, taking Jamie with him.
Jack lay there on the black stone floor, bleeding and in pain for what seemed like hours before the doors at the end of the room burst open and Bunny, North and Sandy were rushing toward him.
"Crikey mate, what happened?" Asked Bunny as he and North addressed his wounds. Sandy was keeping look out.
"What took you guys so long?" Jack whispered as his vision went blurry.
"Ah, no mate, stay awake, STAY AWAKE!" Bunny said forcefully, shaking his shoulders a tiny bit. But it was no use. Jack blacked out and the last thing he remembered was hearing North yell at Sandy to send for Tooth and to get him more bandages.
