"I'm starving," Nora complained as she sat on the edge of the kitchen bench swinging her small legs impatiently while she watched her Fathers cook breakfast. She wanted to know why Daddy Dean always fluffed up his hair like that and why Pappa Finny always made those eyes at Daddy. Daddy was cooking the bacon while he hummed merrily to a tune on the muggle radio while Pappa flipped the eggs and watched Daddy with them all too familiar eyes.

"Ah, it's been too long since I've heard your singing." Pappa sighed, moving away from the pan to poke Nora in the cheek. She giggled, fell off the bench and laid on her back on the floor to stare up at her Pappa with a slight twinkle in her eye.

"Well, I've missed you being at home with Nora and I." Daddy smiled, taking the food from the hotplate and placing it on to the cleared table.

Nora clambered to her feet and sat obediently at the table, drumming her little fingers on the table while she waited to be served.

"I've heard that Hermione's been looking after the little one while I've been away!" Pappa laughed as he shovelled egg into his mouth.

Nora thought it quite peculiar that the little bit of hair under Pappa's chin bobbed up and down as he spoke.

She ignored their conversation and kept on trying to aim food at Pappa's little hairs.

"Nora darling, can you stop that?" Daddy asked, catching her hand as she tried to reach out and poke Pappa's hair once more.

Nora just pulled her hand away and giggled.

"But Daddy, it looks funny!" Nora chortled.

Daddy smacked her hand away and pushed more food into her already crammed mouth.

"Well then, Hermione should be here any moment now, you better be good for her, Miss Thomas!" Pappa smiled, standing up from the table and patting her shoulder.

"But Pappa, I don't want you to go!" Nora suddenly wailed, outraged.

She threw herself onto the floor and grabbed hold of Seamus's legs.

"Don't worry Nora, Pappa Finny will be home tonight." Dean tried, hoping that it would soothe her agony.

Nora just glared and sat stubbornly under the table, glaring up at the both of them from where she sat.

"Nora!" called Hermione from the Thomas' front door.

Nora didn't move from where she sat under the table, instead, she flopped on her stomach and covered her head with her arms.

"Wawa!" came two little voices from just outside the kitchen.

"Come out Nora, Rose and Hugo came with me today." Hermione urged, knowing this would probably not coax Nora out from her place.

Rose appeared at one of the kitchen chairs, her younger brother Hugo crawling behind.

"Come on Nora, they'll be back before you know it. Why don't you and Rose pick some flowers from the garden and we can make a special meal for your Dads for when they arrive home," Hermione suggested as she gently pulled Nora from underneath the table.

Nora frowned, but she guessed it wasn't such a bad idea. She really didn't want to hang out with Rosie today, especially when she found her rather annoying and irritating.

Rose grabbed on to Nora's hand and pulled her towards the back door.

"Hugo, stay here will you?" Hermione cooed to Hugo as she swept him up into her arms.

Poor Hugo, Nora thought as she pulled open the back door.

Nora suddenly ran outside the door dragging Rose behind her across the backyard.

"Careful Nora, wouldn't want to hurt Rose!" Hermione warned from inside the house.

Nora let go and ran around to where her Dads had planted flowers and began picking some.

Half an hour later, Rose and Nora appeared in the kitchen with armfuls of beautiful flowers.

"Hermione, we've collected some!" Nora cheered, throwing a handful into the air before setting the rest on the table.

A couple of daisies landed softly on Hugo's sleeping face.

"I can quite see that, girls." Hermione chuckled as she took down one of the many vases that sat on one of the shelves.

Nora helped Hermione fill the vase with water and flowers while Rose tickled her brother with a pink feather she had found while they had been out in the garden.

"I miss my Dads." Nora sighed, placing the last flower into the vase and setting it in the middle of the cluttered table.

"Sometimes I miss my parents too." Hermione smiled, pulling out the ingredients they needed to make their cake.

They had finished baking the cake and Hermione had set the kids down for their afternoon naps when Dean arrived tiredly from work.

"You're home early, Dean," Hermione commented as he walked into the kitchen.

"It's not that early, I usually get home around this time," Dean replied, pulling off his cloak and cap and setting them on the hook.

"Oh right, it's nearly 6 isn't it?" Hermione questioned.

"Sure is. How's she been for you today?" Dean asked, pointing at his sleeping daughter.

"She's been mostly good, took her medicine for her craziness a bit later than last time, dragged Rose through the garden but nothing that serious. She will be more than glad to see you when she wakes up." Hermione assured Dean.

Sure enough, Nora began to wake as she heard hushed voices across the room.

She looked over and got a surprise, her Daddy was actually home. She sprang to her feet and ran to him, throwing her little arms around him and climbed up into his lap.

"Daddy! You're home!" Nora yelled excitedly as she squeezed him tight.

"I am." Dean smiled, affectionately patting her back.

"I got you those!" Nora said, enthusiastically pointing over at the flower-filled vase.

Dean was happy to be home, especially because he had missed his Nora all day.

"They are very pretty, Nora. Why don't you hop along and get into your nightclothes for when Pappa gets home?" Dean asked, affectionally pushing his squirming daughter off his lap.

Nora ran excitedly from the room, singing a little tune as she did so.

"I'm starved, Daddy!" Nora shrieked, running into the kitchen.

"Settle down darling, breakfast will be ready soon." Dean assured his daughter.

"But I want food now!" Nora shrieked again.

"How can you have so much energy this early in the morning, Nora?" Seamus asked, picking up Nora and placing her in his lap.

"Cause you have to be ready for anything." Nora shot back.

The kitchen erupted into laughter as the small family shared jokes around the breakfast table.
