First, I want to say this is an inspired attempt at an almost overused trope, but hey, I'm just writing this for fun. Updates will be random as time is a commodity I do not have being a father with work and other priorities, but when I have free time I will write. With that, have fun, and enjoy the ride.

The void isn't as fun as people think. I should know, I've been there. Heaven, hell, whatever you believe in it may be true, but the void? The Nothingness? It's just as real. And just as boring. I couldn't help but think back and reflect on my life. I was a father, a husband, a brother. The memories of my family were a shining light in the dark, just as they were my light in life. My son and his beautiful smile, not even three years old… and now I won't be there to see him grow up. That thought dampened any joy I felt.

I never feared death. Hell, I knew one day it would come for me. All things end, even gods knew that one day they too shall end. But, I feared what I would leave behind. Not like I had a choice. It was either I die, or my son does. And there was no hesitation in the choice to step out into that street and body block some rich brat's car from hitting my son. The last thing I remember before the void was my son crying, and feeling so much joy knowing that he was still alive. If he was crying, he would live.

I smiled and was about to let my mind drift off, to embrace the nothing when suddenly, there was a pop up before me, one that looked very familiar to my inner gaming nerd.

Congratulations. Through your selfless sacrifice for flesh and blood, you have been selected to be host to the System.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but due to the literal void around me, there was little else to look at. "Wait, what?"

Character creation will now commence!

Caution: This system's Character Creator rewards risk. The more you let fate decide your placement in life, the more buffs, skills, perks and stats will be rewarded to you.

Pick your gender: [Male], [Female], [Random]

…..Well then, isn't this an information overload. I have read a great many gamer fic, at to actually be in one… now is not the time to nerd out. Focus. Now, the system just stated that the more I let fate decide my character creation, the stronger I will be, but at the cost of possibly not getting what I want. However, it is easing me in with a simple question, one that I honestly don't mind the resolution of anyways. I may have been born male, but I always wondered what it would be like to be on the other side of the coin, especially with the knowledge and experience and perspective I have… or possibly had as a male. Plus I'm bi, so either way I win. I chose [Random]

Due to your deduction skills and ability to stay focused, you will gain +1 int and +1 wis at the end of character creation

Due to your willingness to let fate decide your gender, you gain +1 cha and +1 luck at the end of character creation

Rolling for gender.

Rolling….

Rolling….Done

Your gender is [Female]

Huh, sweet. Not even through the first step and already getting some nice little bonuses. A bit unnerving that it's already changed my mental voice to be that of a woman's, but hey, with things like this, going with the flow is for the best. Especially if you don't want to stress yourself out.

Time to choose a world:

[RWBY]

[Final Fantasy 14]

[Rick Riordan verse]

[Sword Art Online]

[Harry Potter]

[Bleach]

[Titanfall/Apex Legends]

[MCU]

[Fairy Tail]

[Random]

Alright, time for some critical thinking here. So, flat out NO to RWBY. I love the show, or should say, I did love the show, but on top of the show kinda going off the rails, Remnant is a fucked world that honestly is only gonna be saved because otherwise it will be a worse story and lots of plot armor. Final Fantasy might be interesting, but frankly, even with the gamer system working to keep me safe from primals, that world doesn't need more heroes. And me stepping in there would just change everything that gave meaning to that world. In other words, I respect it too much to interfere. Sword Art is getting the same treatment as RWBY. While it has its awesome moments, if you are not Kirito, you're no one, and even then only the digital world would hold any of my skills in likelihood. Bleach is out because while the world is awesome, Ichigo is just a more human and flawed Kirito. A much, much better character with weaknesses and flaws, but still uber powerful with insane plot armor. And that is the only reason he lives. Fairy Tail has a awesome magic system and I am almost drooling about how I can get the system to abuse the fuck out of it, but it has one thing that always irked me. And that is that friendship is literally a form of magic. It is insane plot armor bullshit and raises too many questions that will never be answered. Titanfall is amazing… but it would be kind of hard to have fun with the system in that world. Don't get me wrong, I dream of piloting a titan. But…. it would be wasting potential. MCU, while tempting, is a no only because you are either a nobody, or your life is on the line 24/7 because every fish in the pond wants a piece, or yes. Harry Potter would be cool, but I was never much of a fan. I blame my mother for shoving any and everything Harry Potter down my throat as a kid. I can like something, but as soon as people overplay it or don't shut up and let me form my own opinion, I start to not like it or at least be uninterested. That leaves mister RR himself. While I love the Olympian and Roman stories, The Egyptian never really appealed to me. The Norse one is also a fun read, but a bit heavy handed with the humor. But of all the options it's a perfect balance. It has a large place for me to run free, lots for the system to work with, the entire universe does not revolve around a single character, and while I love the stories, I won't feel like I am ruining something sacred like I would be with final fantasy. Overall, while there are three or four I wouldn't mind being in, I didn't want to risk ending up in one of the ones I didn't. So, no random this time. I choose [Rick Riordan verse]

Congratulations! Your new body will now be created into the Rick Riordan verse! Please select your Nationality for your new life!

[Greek]

[Roman]

[Norse]

[Egyptian]

[Random]

Alright, this will be an easy random. I only have a 25% chance of getting the one I don't want, and while the Romans are brutal, at least you don't need to be possessed by a god to have any powers. Time to spin the wheel of [Random] -ness!

For letting fate decide what gods you are beholden to, the system will give you a perk based on what Nationality is rolled.

Rolling….

Rolling….Done

Fate has chosen [Greek] to be your nationality. Due to the fates deciding, you have gained the perk [Will to Live]

[Will to Live]: Most heroes have a habit of refusing to give in to death. Once per combat, if hp is reduced to 0 or below, You will instead remain at 1 hp.

Fucking awesome! So I basically have a single get out of jail free card. Here's to hoping I don't have to rely on it however.

Please, select your race:

[Human] (+50% EXP to all skills, [One of Many] perk, Lvl 1 Mp=20)

[Nature Spirit] (Nature Affinity, [Beauty of Nature] Perk, +4 to all stats except Luck per year, Lvl 1 Mp=80)

[Monster] (Perk based on heritage, Hp= 100+Vit*2*10*lvl, +5 to all stats except Luck per year, Lvl 1 Mp=15)

[Demigod] (+25% EXP to all skills, Dyslexia, [Battle Reflexes] Perk, Perk based on parent, +3 to all stats except Luck per year, Lvl 1 Mp=50)

[Random]

Alright… as much as I want to pick Demigod right away, and boy is it tempting, I am curious how the others would play out. So… please Tyche be on my side this time…. [Random].

For letting fate decide your race, you will be rewarded with +2 luck as well as +1 to a stat dependent on the race chosen.

Rolling….

Rolling….Done

Fate has chosen your race. Your new self will be a [Demigod]. Due to letting fate decide, you also gain +1 Vitality.

Alright, alright, not bad. Really good in fact. Though with all this luck I'm getting Nemesis is gonna hate me. But that's a bridge I'll cross when it comes.

Congratulations! Your selected race qualifies to receive a bonus based off your parentage.

CAUTION: This choice can not be changed and will affect the entirety of your new life. Stat bonuses can be earned, but the perks and social status that comes with your parentage can affect every facet of your life, from who is willing to be your friend, to how you fight. Choose carefully, or pray the fates continue to smile on you.

[Random] (Randomly selects one of the Gods, +20 to mana per level, extra hidden skills and perks)

Caution: Choosing random for your devine parent will be different from the other random choices. Rather than choosing one of the options listed, your divine parent will be truly random based on the Greek pantheon. This includes minor gods, and even titans. Choosing this path is only for those who truly accept and put themselves in the hands of fate.

Okay. No pressure or anything system. So, I can either pick a god, or truly put all my chips down on luck and fate. All the gods have their bonuses and faults...but for this, I know what I want to do. Honestly, I accept that life is uncontrollable. Its bad enough I got to choose what world I get to be born into, and most beings never even get that opportunity. Now, it and more has been given to me. And you know what? I think the chaos of life is at it's best when you have no control over how you are born, where you end up at the start of your life. Because no matter what you can grow. Become something more than just your birth. So, with resolve, I accept that [Random] is just life, and besides, one way or another, I'll still have a godly parent. Hopefully it's not a dickish one.

Are you sure?

[Yes]/[No]

[Yes] I am. Who am I to choose the circumstance of my birth when so many others suffer for it? Even gods, I mean look at Loki. I will not be selfish and be different.

Now choosing devine parent.

[Chaos], The Protogenos of the Void is your divine parent. The Domains of Creation and Destruction are his to command, and his very presence under Tartarus strikes fear into all. Don't anger your father now.

[Chaos] (+2 to all stats, +150 Mana per Level, [Everything came from Chaos] Skill, [Primordial Heritage] Skill, [Spacial Flicker] Skill, [Spark of Creation] Skill, [Chaos Trials] Perk)

I...uh...What? Chaos, the Chaos, is going to be my father? That's insane, Awesome, but insane. Well, here's to hoping I don't fuck over everything. The heritage of the protogenos of creation and destruction…. Wow.

Now select your name.

Trista Inkheart. Its a pretty name, and frankly if I am to be a girl, at least I can have a kick ass name.

Now view your Status Screen to distribute your starting status points:

Name: Trista Inkheart

Race: Demigod

Gender: Female

Title: N/A

Level: 1 (0/100)

HP: 130 HP Regen: 0.5%/10 secs

MP: 226 MP Regen: 2%mp/minute

STR: 2 (Physical Strength, How much you can carry)

VIT: 3 (Controls your Hit Points. Hit point calculation is 100+(VIT*10*lvl))

DEX: 2 (Your movement speed, accuracy, crit chance)

INT: 3 (Your ability to retain information. MP Calculation is base + (INT*2*lvl))

WIS: 3 (Mana Regeneration +1% per 5 WIS)

CHA: 3 (Overall Attractiveness and Persuasion)

LUC: 3 (Drop rate of items, money, games of chance and fateful encounters)

Status Points: 40

Oh boy this is going to be fun. Looking at this I don't really need to worry too much about INT. I am getting 220 MP per level, so even by level five, if I don't touch INT at all, 1130. So for now I'll just round out all my stats to 5, then from there, I'm going to think about it. I have 26 points left. I do want to buff up my vitality, after all there is no point in hitting hard if you can't survive, and Dex is always nice, but me personally, I also want to dump some points into Charisma, luck and wisdom. So, with this in mind, I decided to make my Charisma 8, same with my Vitality and Dex, leaving me with 11. I'll then put another 5 into Wisdom, 2 into Intelligence and split the last 6 between Luck and Strength. I may one day touch Intelligence, after all, memory was never my strong suit so being able to improve that would be awesome, but thinking about this in a game logic sense? The mana gain will be so small compared to the mana I gain at every level that it won't make as much of a difference than the others. And yes I know, like I have room to complain about Min-Maxing when I literally just spread my points across the board, but never underestimate an all-rounder. While they may not be as great as those who specialize, they also have virtually no weaknesses. Besides, a pretty face with a side of luck can get you places.

[Ancient Greek Mastery] (LvMAX): Your ability to comprehend Ancient Greek, it will need a certain amount of practice to come into your skill. Unfortunately, any other language will be hard to learn, even your native one. Enjoy Dyslexia.

[Mist Control] (Locked): Your ability to manipulate the mist. Locked until you reach a certain age and are taught by a practitioner, or are a child of Hecate.

[Mist Resistance] (Lv1): Because of your divine blood, you have a resistance to the mist that shrouds mortal minds.

Creations:

-Dagger: 40+STR per hit, X2.5 crit multiplier MP cost: 2 per second

[Primordial Heritage] (Lv1): Due to the blood running in your veins, your natural regeneration far outstrips that of any normal Demigod. Current regeneration is 0.5% hp/10 seconds. This skill will not gain EXP from self inflicted wounds.

*[Flows of Chaos] (Lv1): When wielding an item created by [Spark of Creation], you can flood more power into the item, destabilizing it. The item explodes, sending fragments before you not unlike that of a shotgun. Damage equals Weapon damage X2 per 50 mana consumed

[Battle Reflexes]: When in battle or life threatening situations, you do not freeze, instead your mind and body work faster, turning you into a natural combatant.

[Will to Live]: When reduced to 0 HP or less, you will instead remain at 1 HP once per encounter.

*[You're Interesting]: Until you are deemed strong enough your Godly scent is lessened, but once you have reached what he deems 'strong enough' your Godly Scent is no longer muffled. Your interesting nature however will persist and will lead to unlikely encounters. +2 Charisma.

*[Attractive(Major)]: A perk normally reserved for children of Aphrodite, your Protogenos blood is more than enough to create similar results. You are naturally more attractive than the average mortal, and will always have a model's body throughout your life, never even gaining temporary flaws like acne, though scars will still form as scars can be beautiful. +5 to Charisma, and another +10 at age 14 and +15 at age 21.

Okay wow, was not expecting that much in the way of powerful abilities, let alone the massive boost to my Charisma. Not that I'm complaining, I mean, As a guy I was never much of a looker. It'll be nice being attractive for once, even if I will need to beat guys off with sticks eventually. I just hope I'm ready for what lies ahead.

Congratulations on making your character! You are now ready to begin your new life!

Game start? [Yes]/[No]

[Yes] I do think it's time to start this journey. I think back to my family one last time, wishing with all my heart and soul that they are cared for in my absence before the darkness is replaced with a blinding light.

Welcome to your new life, Trista Inkheart.
