Hey,

Here's a new chapter. I read all of your reviews and your ideas about who is Hermione's father. I like the way you think. I myself know the father, but I do listen to you. I mean maybe I'll change my mind. I don't think so, your reviews make me happy. Thank you so much.

Enjoy this chapter.

I think you will be surprised with who is in it!

Chapter 11: Your best intrest

Hermione twisted and turned in her bed, she could hear Snape's voice in her head. 'You'll be screwing around with people's mind in no time'. She twisted her head to the right. 'Deciding what's in people's best interest. She turned her head to the other side. Had her mother been like that? Did she use her powers to change people's memories, to keep holes in someone's mind. Did Snape know more than he did? And did her mother removed those memories? Why would she do that? Was it to protect herself or was it to protect Hermione and Snape? If Leyla was in love with Snape, why would she alter his memory? A lot of things didn't make sense to Hermione. Harry's mother's body was missing and it brought Harry closer to actually thinking that his mother was still alive. So was hers, she had visited in a dream. Right now she wanted to visit her again.

As her spirit left her body, she found herself in the garden once more again. Her hair was braided, she had soft blush on her face and she stared in front of her.

"Hermione…" She recognized it immediately as her mother's voice. She turned around to find her standing there, her blond hair was pulled in a ponytail and she was wearing a blue dress.

"Mom?"

"You have to stop asking questions, Hermione." She took a step closer. "This search for the truth is keeping you from the true thing you have to do this year, you and Harry are the only ones that can make it so the students of Hogwarts can protect themselves. They need you."
"Well, there's nowhere we can train." Hermione reacted. "Nowhere Umbridge won't catch us."

"The seventh floor…" She put her hand on Hermione's head. "You think about exactly what you need and it will appear to you."
"Mom." Hermione paused "How do you do it, those powers?"
"Hermione…" She stepped closer. "It's not about what you want, it's about what you need. It's like an extension of you, the more you believe in yourself and your abilities, the more you can."

"What does that mean?"

"You can do anything you put your mind too." She stepped away, for a moment she turned around to Hermione. Hermione's eyes were almost tearing up. "If you want to know what's inside someone, sometimes all you have to do is concentrate. Maybe they'll tell you."

With those words she walked away from Hermione, Hermione kept thinking about those eyes. About the only blue eyes she always had in her mind, she seemed kind. Not like the person that played with people's mind. Was it possible that she could undo the things her mother did to Snape's mind? And if so, could she get the whole story from her professor. She needed to get it. There was nothing else she could do. She needed to help herself and the others. Was she a key in protecting the school? And did she need to put her mind off her mother?

Severus Snape put his hand to his head, had he really said that? Had he said that about her? He knew for sure that she had taken those memories for a reason, he just wished that she would have put something in their place, not leaving them empty. He remembered her like yesterday, her blue eyes were a pair of eyes he could never forget. And his mind kept going back to a certain conversation he had.

FLASHBACK

"So how's your girlfriend?" Voldemort turned around Snape releasing a high sounding laugh, almost like he was happy that he had joined him. "Getting all in that Half-blood god. Don't you feel a little ashamed?"
"No." Snape pushed his lips together thinking about Leyla. He had no idea what was going on , she was mad with him for joining the death eaters. There was nothing he could do, he needed to protect her.
"What happens when you two get litter?" he smiled "Do they share her dirty blood?"

"My lord." A man next to him replied. "The God part is almost never given to the next generation. She is cannot kill you, that's her curse. Her offspring would be powerful, I say that a child coming from you and her would be the most powerful with or wizard known to mankind. So powerful that the laws of magic don't apply to it."
"Is that true, Severus?" Voldemort turned to him. "What Goyle just said?"
"I have no idea." Snape turned away. "My lorde."

"If you killed the girl." Bellatrix spoke "You can raise the child in your evil food prints. It could be the very thing you need to ensure you never lose power and maybe you could even find a way to absorb those powers."
"That's not bad." Voldemort had a smile on his face that scared Snape. "Get her here, Severus. After all, you owe me her life. You won't mind…"

There was nothing Snape could say in a situation like this. He didn't want to say :'yes'. He didn't own the right to sell Leyla to anyone, but he couldn't say no either. He could take it out on Leyla too. He needed her alive, but there were worst fate's than dead. He stared to the floor as he heard Voldemort's laugh.

After that the real holes started happening. Did Leyla take memories away to spare him? Had something awful happened to her. If something happened to her, was it possible that Hermione was Voldemort's offspring. And did he know the answer to Hermione's parentage without actually knowing it. Was there a piece of his brain, Leyla hid his memories. And was it possible to get them back? He had tried several spells, most of them failed. He also tried to write everything down, maybe logic could pull everything together. But nothing could. Fear that he had hurt Leyla or gotten her hurt was all around him. The need to beat up Goyle was there too, he even didn't like his son.

Than he thought about Lily, why had they asked if there was a body? Did they actually believe that Lily was still alive? And how could Lily have survived that Halloween night without any help? Was Leyla there? And if Leyla was still alive that night, where was she hiding? And was she indeed keeping an eye on him. She could be here, right now. He stared around in the room.

"Leyla." Snape stared around in the room. "I know you're in here."

He said those words in the hope that anyone who was in this room would react, maybe he hoped no one would come out. Or maybe he hoped that she would put her arms around his neck, telling everything was okay. Why was he such a softie? Why did Leyla's arms mean the world too him?

"You haven't changed a bit." He turned around to find a young blond he knew from everywhere. It seemed that she hadn't aged as much as he did and she still looked pretty. She stepped to him and moved her arms around his neck. "Sev."
"Leypey." He cried. "Why are you doing this to me?"
"Because…" She shook her head. "Because it's dangerous for me to come out here. Hermione is asking to much questions, she and Harry are putting their noses in something they shouldn't be and you are not exactly helping me by answering."
"What do you mean?" Snape stared at her. "Are they right? Is Lily alive? Don't lie to me."
"Yes." She raised an eyebrow. "It's all pretty complicated."
"Does Dumbledore know?"

"He knows enough." Leyla put her hands to his cheeks, stroking them softly. "You've been in pain, I can see it in your eyes. Why?"
"Don't you see how you left me, Leyviena." Snape stepped away from her. He stepped around in the room, trying not to look at Leyla. He didn't understand why she showed up out of nowhere. Didn't she care about him? At least he knew she was alive, yet looking at her seemed wrong. The first thing he wanted to do was get Hermione, but he was to selfish. "You leave me with uncertainties in my mind, you leave me with the idea that I could have hurt you."

"You didn't hurt me." She put her hand to his head. "Snape it's important that Hermione does not find me. Not before certain events; there were prophecies."
"About Hermione?" He pulled her hair. "Is that why you gave her up? Leyla who's her father? Do I know?"

"You don't." She cried. "I am doing things for the best. You don't understand, there were so many signs, prophecy about Hermione."

"How many prophecies are there exactly about her?"
"Over 40." She looked down. "I have to go."
"You're not going anywhere."

"So there is a room we can get the students together to practice." Ron turned to Hermione. "On the seventh floor? Did your mother appear in a dream to say just that?"
"She did." Hermione nodded her head. "She said I should stop asking questions. She said it was up to me and Harry, so they could protect themselves. She thinks we are the reason Hogwarts can stand up for themselves."

"Wait a minutes, does she ask you to drop her case?" Harry raised an eyebrow. "My mother too? We can't stop asking questions…"

"She said I should drop it…"

"That's easy for you to say." Harry replied. "Hermione, I want to make sure that my mother is in fact dead and not still out there alive."
"I understand, I don't want to give up either." Hermione shook her head. "But is what she said to me, in my dream. It seems like.."

"And what about those powers."

"She says I can learn them." She levitated her eyebrow. "She says if I want to hear people's thought I have to concentrate and they will tell me."

"Sure…" Ron laughed.

Harry took his books and moved out of the common room, he was followed by Hermione and later by Ron. There was nothing they could say, Hermione started to be scared to ask questions. Scared that she was moving away from her destiny. Hadn't her mother said something like that? She noticed that she let herself watch everyone passing by. Their faces were blank to her. She thought about her mother's voice. She wanted to know their thoughts, so she had to concentrate. She concentrated on her face and waited for them to talk, but nothing happened. As they arrived in the common room, Hermione sat down. From far she could see Snape, somehow she thought there was something different about him. Yet she pushed that from her mind. When she focused on Ron, she couldn't hear any thoughts. Why did her mom say it was that easy? She wanted to hear thoughts, but she heard nothing. Snape said it would come natural, her mother said the same. Maybe she was over thinking it, did she need to put another kind of concentration on this. Why didn't her mom give her a guide book: 'mind reading for half-blood gods'? But that did not exist.

Luna sat down, Hermione did not concentrate on her. The only thing she could hear was her voice, going on and on. All kinds of things, anything that could come from Luna. Even more than she used to.
"Luna, there is no…"
"I didn't say anything." Hermione opened her eyes wider. She did it, she concentrated on Luna. Not on her mind, just on Luna coming her way. She heard her thoughts as whispers and as she stared around everyone seemed to have their own whispers going on. Dumbledore had a song in his mind. It brought a smile on her face. Now she could do this, she needed to figure out how she could bring back memories that were lost. Memories that her mother removed from Snape's mind or anyone's mind.

Still her mother's words were everywhere. She thought why she could not ask questions, would something bad happen to her? And if her mother was alive, why had she never come to see her. Hermione couldn't believe. Should she do what her mother told her? Or should she keep chasing her need to know her mother? She needed to do it. If she didn't continue her search, Harry would never figure out if Harry's mother was be alive. Maybe she had to do both.

"We need to find members." Hermione turned to Harry. "We need to do both. We need to find our mothers and we need to teach the school magic."
"That's a good idea, Hermione." Harry shook her hand.

"How do we get people to join?" Harry stared at Hermione.
"We ask Fred and George, off course."

"Snape's acting weird." Ron said as he sat down next to Hermione. They were in the room of requirement. They had never been there before, but this room was exactly what they were looking for. Fred and George had found people that liked to learn magic themselves. There was no one there yet. "You know how Snape started to be kind of nice. Well, he was just an ass. It seemed like…"
"Well, he returned to his old self." Harry replied "What did you expect?"
"I don't understand." Hermione stared to the floor. "After all he started to show another side of him. A soft side."
"He had a moment of weakness." Ron replied "Or do you think someone toyed with his mind?"

"My mom could." Hermione smiled "She toys with people's mind like no one else."

They stopped talking as the students started to enter the room. There were only students from Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. No one from Slytherin had dared to show up. Or were they not asked? Hermione thought so. They stared at Harry.

"Why is he here?" a voice said.
"Because he's our teacher." Hermione replied.

"Why?"

"Because it's true." Ron spoke "Voldemort is back and we need to learn magic. We need to know the things that Umbridge is not teaching us, so we stand a chance."
"So how much magic do you know?" Cho asked "Did Cedric know this too?"
"Cedric did." Harry paused. He had not spoken about that night anymore. "It's not like that, I know magic: yes. It's different out there, at school you get another chance when you fail, in a fight you don't. You have to use all you know when someone is about to die, or you are about to die. You can't…"

With those words they started the training. They came together once a week, they enchanted a coin to know when. That was the only thing that wouldn't be too obvious. If Umbridge found one of those, it wouldn't be clear. Hermione tried to find a way to get memories back, but she couldn't find a way. But there was an even bigger question on her mind: one that she only started thinking about after the first session. Who was her father?

She had thought about it, but never with as much passion as she did now. She had a couple persons who could be her father: one was Snape. Her mother had love him, she could understand why. Snape had flashes of niceness. Only flashes of why her mother loved him.

The second one was Sirius. She didn't know if her mother loved him, but Sirius seemed to think so and they did know each other.

Lupin was the next, he had always been talking about her. There was affection in his voice, but it didn't seem like. Where there other people? People her mother loved. Who could there be?

Hermione walked around, maybe she could ask Snape about more. Maybe she could ask questions about who her mother knew. Maybe he could give her more leads. Maybe he had proof in his mind. And as she passed by him, she noticed the change Ron described. His eyes were cold. The flashes of niceness were not happening right now.
"Professor Snape…" Hermione paused as she stepped closer. "Can I ask you something?"
"Miss Granger…"

"Who did my mom know?"

"Your mother?" He raised an eyebrow. "Why do you think I am involved with your muggle parents? I have never…"
"My mother…" Hermione stared at him. "Leyviena McGonagall."
"I've never met her." Snape stared at her. "I know the sad story of how she disappeared. I know her like that, but personal. No."

"But…" Hermione walked away. How was that possible? Someone did come in and erased everything. This person had taken away her mother from Snape's mind. Why? She had come to see him and he knew something. He had some information in her mind that could bring Hermione to her mother. Was it her own mother had come in? It was the only person that could do it. She needed to know why. She needed to know why her mother would do such thing. Why was Snape's knowledge a problem?

She started to run to the common room. She found Harry and Ron there, sitting together.
"My mom was in the castle." Hermione replied "She removed herself from Snape's mind. He knows something or maybe he had a way to contact him."
"So can you bring the memories back?" Ron spoke "We can find out what she said."
"Ron…" Hermione paused "how am I supposed to do that?"
