"So you really think Sonny and his team can find Griffin?" Lori asks me as I walk into her apartment behind her.
I sigh and explain in a hurry, "if he's missing then yes they will find him but I don't want to think that he's missing and he's just off being stupid or something!"
"Right, of course. It can be a number of things." She assures me, "can I get you anything? A drink, a glass of wine?" She holds up hers to show me she's having one.
I decline the offer, "I'm okay, I just want to think of something that's going to help them find Griffin." I go to the very large windows in her apartment and state out of them into the city landscape. She comes next to me and sips her wine. I say, "I'm sorry for canceling our dinner tonight."
"Oh, please. There is no need to apologize. I just hope everything is okay." She responds.
I then realize then Jason isn't here with her and I ask, "where's Jason? Did you guys not come back together from our place?"
She smiles, "oh, Jason was running late as well and when I called him to tell him what was happening he told he me was going to go back to work, guess he has a lot going on right now."
"Oh?" I ask part of me wondering what he's up to lately.
As if reading my mind, she happily says, "yeah, Jason wants to run for office."
"Really?" I question, knowing Jason never wanted to work in politics and follow his father's footsteps. I never would've never imagined him going into the office after everything he went through this past year.
She says, "yeah, I think everything he went through opened his eyes to something and he wants to help make things change."
"Well, I guess that's good. He'd be a great politician." I encourage her with a smile, "but maybe find someone to help him write his speeches."
She laughs and nods, sipping more of her wine, "ain't that the truth, not so good at words that one."
I hang at Lori's apartment for another two hours before leaving to go home. With my head hanging low as the elevator door opens I lift it to walk to the door and am floored to see Griffin sitting at my door, "Griffin!" I yell his name and run to him. He hazily tries to stand up and uses my door for support and I run to hug him, "what's going on? Are you okay?" I ask. He just mumbles something noncoherent and goes limp in my arms, "Griffin! Come on buddy, stay with me!" I do everything I can to support him and take my phone out to call 911. Once I hang up with them I call Sonny.
"We don't have anything yet but—" Sonny says when he picks up.
"Sonny! Stop! Griffin's here, he's outside my apartment. Help!" I scream out, still trying to get Griffin to wake up by shaking him.
"Wow, what are you talking about? You have to call 911. I'm on my way!" He returns and I can already tell he's moving his ass to get here.
I explain, "I did call, he's passed out and won't wake up. You need to hurry!"
An ambulance gets there within 7 minutes of my phone call and Sonny gets there just as they are wheeling him out on a gurney. He runs over to me, standing in the entryway to my apartment and scoops me into a hug, "what happened? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. He was just sitting against my door. He reeks of alcohol." I explain, not so calmly.
Sonny questions, "did he say anything?"
"Nothing, he barely could stand up before he passed out" I explain, "is he going to be okay? Why was he here?"
Sonny shrugs, "I don't know. Did you ever mention where you live?"
I shake my head, "never."
Sonny nods, rubbing my arm "alright, well I'm going to ride with him to the hospital, see if I can get anything from him. Rollins can drive you to the hospital and take your statement."
"Okay, yeah." I nod and agree, "that sounds good."
He must see me staring at the ambulance with a longing glare and tries to assure me, "hey, he's alive. That's good news. We'll figure this out."
I nod, moving to wipe a tear before it forms. I ask, "can I call the Fitzman's?"
Sonny explains, "I'm going to call this into Benson and she'll take care of it. You just ride with Amanda."
"Okay, yeah." I nod. The paramedics call out that they are leaving and Sonny gives me a quick kiss on my forehead before running off to get in before they leave.
Amanda walks over to me as he leaves and whispers, "are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just glad he's found." I say to her, starting to walk to the street to meet her where she stands to wait for me.
She nods but offers, "you don't think it's weird he showed up outside your apartment?"
I shrug one shoulder, "I guess, I never did mention where I live to him." But my brain keeps moving and I continue on, "but he was a street kid for a long time, I'm sure it was easy for him to figure it out."
"Yeah, that's true. Well, let's go to the hospital." She says and we walk off to go to the car.
Amanda takes my statement when we get there, only interviewing me for a few minutes as I didn't have much information to give. I found him, I called 911 and that's all. She leaves me to go talk with her team and about 30 minutes later the Fitzman's arrive. I stand as they walk in and are told some information before being rushed off to go see Griffin. I sit back down when they are out of sight and wait silently some more. An hour or so later, Sonny and Olivia walk toward me and I stand to meet them, "is he okay?"
"They had to pump his stomach. Twice. He has alcohol poisoning." Olivia sighs out lowly to me, rubbing her hand through her hair.
"Alcohol poisoning?" I question out loud, "he never told me he was into drinking. He used to smoke cigarettes and occasionally some pot."
"Is that what he told you?" Sonny asks.
I nod, "yeah, why would he admit to that and not to drinking alcohol? How much did he have?"
Olivia answers, "a lot. If you got home 20 minutes later, he probably would have aspirated on his own vomit."
"You know, I know I'm not a detective and correct me if I'm wrong here but do you guys actually think Griffin could've had all that to drink then find my apartment? I mean, I'm usually always at Sonny's anyway. I don't even know why I was going there tonight." I spit out my thoughts.
Sonny gets what I'm saying and says, "so you think this wasn't just him acting out?"
I go to say something back but Olivia stops me, "wow, wow. Slow down. Carisi, this is our case so we'll look into everything but you know we can't be discussing things with her." She looks to me with a sympathetic smile, "sorry Addison, you understand."
"Of course, yes. I just want to help" I reply.
Her sympathetic smile turns into a sincere grin, "I know, and thank you." She turns back to Sonny "we should go help canvas the neighborhood with Fin."
"Yeah, sounds good." She walks off and he leans down to give me a kiss, "thanks doll, I'll look into everything." I kiss him back and watch him leave, sitting down afterward and waiting for the Fitzmans to come back out.
