I know this chapter took way too long. I confess I feel awful, yet I finished it. I hope you will enjoy chapter 20.

Chapter 20: A summer at the Snape household

Hermione stared at the pictures. She had asked Severus about her mother and the result was something she had not expected. He began to tell her stories about the woman that was Leyviena McGongall. You could see a joy coming from him as he described her. She was the sweetest person you would ever meet, the smartest and in so many ways she seemed perfect. Hermione could do nothing but twitch her eyes together and listen about her mother. She already knew her mother was braver than anyone she would ever know. She had done everything so Hermione would have a nice life. Her mother had saved her life and every day she wanted to meet her. She stared at the paper, there was no word from her mother and it seemed that she would never meet her. She moved her fingers through her light blond hair. It changed the moment she got her powers back. Getting used to it was entirely different, but it seemed that she felt closer to her mother now.
"So how did you meet?"
"We didn't start spending real time together until the fifth year, but we did meet before that."
"How?" She placed her hand on his arm. "Tell me the story of how you met my mother."

Severus Snape was only 11 years old. His mother had told him about Hogwarts, but he had never been prepared for its beauty. The lake in front of the school had a beauty in the moonlight, but nothing prepared him for the moment that would change his whole world. When he entered Hogwarts he noticed how a small blond girl slipped between them. She had not been with them in the boat ride over there. When she turned towards him, he could see her bright blue eyes. A smile appeared on her face as she looked at him. For a moment he felt like her eyes were burning in her soul. It seemed like she looked at him for a full 5 minutes. Then she returned her attention to the other students. She looked in front of her and even now he couldn't keep his eyes off her.
For only a moment he thought about what house he would end up in. His mother had been in Slytherin. He wasn't sure what house he wanted to be in.
"Who are you?" The blond girl was standing beside him.
"Severus." He paused. "Severus Snape. And you?"
"They call me Leyla." She replied. "But truly my name is Leyviena Theresa McGonagall. "
"You know I like Leyviena better."

"It would take four years before we would meet again. It was after my worst memory, she introduced herself again, as if I wouldn't remember her." Snape smiled. "Your mother was a woman you could not possible forget, even if you tried. Yet she found the very need to introduce herself again. I thought if she thought I didn't remember her, she might not remember me either. Just the way she talked to me, there was a certain understanding. Later I would find out that she could read minds, even then. Your mother understands people on a whole different plane. She was…"
"Special." Hermione added. "Did she ever meet your parents?"
"She did." He smiled. "the summer, she came over unannounced, in a way only Leyla could do."

Snape stared through the window. The winter break had gone exactly the way he'd expected. His father and mother didn't say a word to each other, not even a good morning or anything to recognize each other in the room. He wanted to be at Hogwarts right now, he wanted to sit with his girlfriend under a tree. That was all he wanted, yet right now he was sitting at the breakfast table over his father. The man didn't say a word to his son, not even a good morning as usual. Snape took a bit of the bread and stared at his mother.
"I have a girlfriend." He said to break the silence.
"You a girlfriend?" His father laughed. "No girl in her right mind would go out with you."
"Severus, why didn't you invite her over the winter break?" His mother spoke. "I would like to meet your little girlfriend. What's her name?"
"Leyiena Theresa McGonagall." He spoke. "She's professor McGongall's daughter."
"What is she like?"
"Accept a freak." Tobias reacted. "I bet she's just as ugly as him, I hope she destroys your life, like that woman destroyed mine."
"It's not my fault you got fired." Eileen turned to Severus. "So what is Leyviena like?"
"Beautiful in every way." He answered. "She really sees the best parts of me and she even thinks the worst parts are worth it, I don't think I disserve her. We're really happy together."
"She sounds amazing, Severus." Eileen responded, looking at Tobias who was standing up from the dinner table and taking his position at the tv.
An instant later there was a knock at the door, Severus ran towards it, assuming it could be Lily. When he opened up the door, he saw his girlfriend's familiar blue eyes.
"Your house is very hard to find." She said as she walked past him.
"What are you doing?" He stared at her. "Who has invited you?"
"I invited myself." She laughed. "I'm sure your mother won't mind and your father won't even know I'm here. Please, Severus, let me stay."
"Does your mother know you're here?"
"She was hardly okay with my sudden vacation plans." She reacted "I don't think she's the one to talk, she went to Ireland, visiting my aunt Katherine. So what do you think? Can I stay?"
"Can I say no…" He replied. "You've already walked past me. You've already invited yourself. You know I don't have the power to say no to you."
"That's what I thought." She strode beside him, her suitcase levitated in mid-air, she obviously knew both of his parents knew of the existence of magic. After a few seconds she pulled it in her hand. She stared around the house, everything was dark. There was hardly light entering the room and the light that did enter was polluted by smoke. She looked to her father, her eyes went up and down. Severus could see the disappointment in her eyes. Somehow she expected the father of Snape to be different. Tobias Snape looked to her, he was a man with dark black hair. She had hoped he had been less kind than Severus' stories had suggested, but she found out his stories had been too kind. He wore a dirty shirt and his hair was untidy. It was clear that Severus looked more like she mother. She levitated her hand and stepped towards Severus' mother.
"Leyviena McGonagall." She smiled.
"Eileen." Eileen smiled to the blond. "This is my husband Tobias."
"Nice to meet you." She moved her hand towards him. He didn't take it, he just looked up and down to her. She didn't want to read his mind, she knew there couldn't be anything good in that man's brain.

"She's pretty." Tobias looked at her. "Must be good in bed this one. At least her…"
"Don't you dare speak those words." Eileen turned to him. "Severus, why don't you show her your bedroom?"
"And be sure to not knock her up, son." He replied. "I can say that kids are…"
"Tobias!"
She didn't listen to the two man. She stared at Severus who seemed ashamed of his father. She placed her hand in his and pulled him up the stairs. Away from the people that were causing him pain. She started to run. He didn't need to say what his room was. She simple opened the right door, he had no idea how she did it. She simple knew what he was thinking before he ever did. When she stood in his room, she looked disappointed. There was a matrass, nothing more or nothing less. His books were on the right side of it. The rest of the room had remained empty.
"This is your room?" She looked at him. "You don't even have a bed?"
"I took this matrass from the garbage." He replied. "I only have to be here for 8 weeks."
"I'm sorry." She moved her arms around him. That was the only spot in the world he felt safe. The arms of the person that didn't need to love him, yet she did anyway. She was the only thing that didn't smell like his house. She smelt like Hogwarts. The smell of the food in the great hall and the trees all around the school. Her hair smelled like lavender. He had made the shampoo for her, she had asked for something that smelt nice and he loved lavender. Ever since that moment he could never stop smelling her hair. He moved his hand through her long wavy blond hair. Her hair was truly ice blond. He stared at her. How had a girl like her choose him?
"Why do you love me?" He stared at her.
"For your money, what else." She laughed. "I love you, because you see the real me and not what you want me to be. You don't expect anything from me. You know who I am and you love me for it. Every part of me, even that bad parts."
"You don't have bad parts." He kissed her lips.
"You would be surprised."

"So back then did you know about…" Hermione pointed her fingers to her head. "About the mind control? Reading minds thing?"
"She hadn't told me about that." Snape replied." Part of me thinks she was waiting for a perfect moment and that had not yet arrived. I think you might remember the thing I said about your mother. The fact that you would be playing with minds like her. She did take certain memories from me, but not ever did she do it for her own personal gain. She took them, because she wanted me to feel better. She always thought about other people. That's what got to her. That was her deadly sin, the thing that drove her to help so many. It was her fatal flaw and it seems that you have it too."
"So what happened the rest of that summer?"

That evening they slept on the matrass on the floor. His arms were around her, he didn't let go for one moment. Even when she tried to move away from him in her sleep. There was a fear in him that his father might try something. It was clear that he had found his girlfriend attractive and there were even moments between dinner that he looked at her like a predator. Severus knew that he didn't want his father anywhere near his girlfriend. When his father stared at him from the door, he moved his arms around her closer.
"Pretty thing ain't she?" Tobias whispered. Leyviena didn't open her eyes, she was too deep in sleep. After that day he locked the door. He had never cared what his father did to him, but he would he keep his hand of Leyviena. When the morning light came from the window, Leyla opened her eyes. He smiled as he looked in those blue eyes.
"What do you want to do today?"
"I think we should see a movie." She replied. "I exchanged wizard money for muggle money. I saved it my entire life. I've always wanted to see a muggle movie."

That day they walked to the theatre together, it wasn't that far from the place where Severus lived. He had never gone to see a movie yet, but now he wanted to do it for the first time with his girlfriend. A part of him was happy that he had waited to do it with her. He could be just as surprised as she was. He had watched some movies at Lily's house, but that was the only experience he had. He had no idea what movie she would choose. He stared at her as she looked at the movies in front of them.

"Which movie did she choose?" Hermione stared at Snape.
"She choose." He blushed slightly. "The exorcist 2. She was odd that way, she always wanted to see something scary. Soo we went to see that movie. It was the best moment in my whole life. I have fond memories of that movie."
"So what did she do next?"
"She was planning on changing everything." Snape smiled. "She entered my home and took charge of everything. She wanted to redo my bedroom. She wanted me to have a nice place coming home. And she would go far to give me home with my parents. There was nothing she wouldn't do. That didn't mean I wanted to do what she did."
"What did she do?"

She pulled his arm towards the furniture store. She was going to use the money she saved up to give Severus a true bedroom. He didn't like that, he didn't want that she spent all his money on him. He didn't want to take any of her money, he wanted to give her stuff. Yet he had never found anything to do so. The only thing he could give her was an old book. He never expected that she would find it that important. He wanted to say something, but he knew she would not listen. He knew her better than that. She had spoken about redoing his bedroom for a week. Yet he had been able to stop her for 7 days. Day 8 she had woke up early, she made him get dressed and after that she had packed some food for the way. He had not known she would pull him to the closest furniture store after their dinner. He should have known she would do that, yet he had not.
When they entered the store, he didn't know what to say. As he saw every piece of furniture he had no idea what he wanted in his room. A part of him wanted to paint every surface black, yet he knew she wouldn't want that. He stared at her.
"What do you want?" She turned to him.
"Whatever you want." He smiled at her. "I inherit the house, it could be like our master bedroom."

"You want to move in together?" She smiled at him. "And you'll put me in charge of everything?"

"With you in charge of my home nothing could go wrong." She smiled at him. She started to run and he followed her. He liked to run after her and he hoped he could do it his entire life. He expected her to choose something elegant, yet she had chosen the most basic dresser and bed. After that she had chosen a lot of book cases, she promised him they would fill it with all kinds of books. Just like her room. He loved her, he loved books, but not as much as she did. She had always told him reading would save his life. Yet he always believed she would.
"There is not a place I will go without you."
She had used magic to bring everything to his home and she had used magic again to put everything in his room. First they painted the walls in a bright blue colour. Right after that she placed everything in the closets. When they were done, they stared in gratitude to the books.
"We did it." She whispered. "Are you happy?"
"I didn't need a room to be happy." He kissed her.

"I need to ask you something." She closed her eyes. "I need to tell you something too."
"You can tell me anything." He smiled. "There is nothing that could make me hate you."
"Do you know what a half blood god is?" She stared at him.
"Part witch, part god." He turned to her. "Pure blood wizards hate them."
"I am a half blood god." She replied. "My father is Odin, the god. I've never met him and I don't want to. He harmed my mother. He's a bad entity. But this brings me to what I want to ask you."
She lifted her shirt to show some bruises along her body. He almost thought they were in the exact same places as he got them. How did she get them? Who had hurt her? Was there a moment his father had been able to get to her? His fist clenched together in anger.
"How did you get those?"
"The question shouldn't be how I got those?" She lifted his shirt. "It should be how you got those."
"What?" He looked confused.
"We're romantically linked." She touched his heart. "I can't turn this connection of, our minds. Everything is linked, Severus. That means every blow you deal, I get too. I can't turn it off, but you can. You have to teach yourself to block your mind, or at least stop this connection."
"I love that we're linked." He touched her forehead. "I love you."
"Yeah, but this could be really dangerous." She replied. "The longer we're connected, the more severe our connection grows. It will work both ways Severus. If I get hurt, you get hurt. In months, maybe weeks that will happen. I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"If this connection is broken, nothing will change…" He touched her forehead. "If they harm you, they harm me."
"Promise me, you'll break this connection." She placed his forehead to his. "Promise me."
"I promise." He stared at her. "If it means you'll be able to still read my mind."
"It won't change my powers, Severus." She smiled. "I could still read and control your mind. I would never if it wasn't for your best."
"I don't mind." He smiled at her. "You can play with my mind as much as you want. It would be an honour to have you in my mind."

When he fell asleep, Leyviena stared at him. Would he do what she asked him? She hoped, she didn't want him to get hurt. In all reality she didn't care about how she got hurt. She wanted him to be save. He was the only thing she cared about, she moved her fingers over his skin. He was beautiful, she didn't care what the rest of the school said. To her he was perfect and he would always be. She moved closer to him, when she heard the door open up. She stood up and followed Eileen out of the room. She followed Eileen downstairs. Tobias was gone, he had gone to bed earlier.
"I swear we did not have sex. I love him, I know I belong with him, I can't live without your son and I don't want too." She stared at Eileen. "You can't push me away from your son."
"Thank you." Eileen replied. "I've never seen anyone love like you do. When Severus told me he had a girlfriend, I never imagined it to be the real deal. I thought he would get heart broken. You might not believe me, but I love my son. I can't give him everything I want, because my husband is good for nothing. I work myself to the bone to pay for school. I do everything."
"I know you love him." She nodded her head.
"you're special." Eileen stared at her. "There is something about you. Something that makes me thing you know exactly what's going on in my head. Stay with him. Every day of his life."
"I will never leave him." She smiled. "And if I have to leave him, I'll watch over him every day. I love him and I will never love someone like I love Severus."
"I never believed in love." Eileen smiled. "I married Tobias because it was my only choice. You want my son, you truly want him. I hope you get everything. I would be proud to call you family."

She stared at Eileen. They smiled at each other, she always knew Eileen was a good mother. She had a warm nature, something that Tobias did not have. He hated it and ruined the warm house. She walked up the stairs as she heard Eileen take a glass of water. When she returned to the bedroom, Snape was sitting upright in his bed. He had just woken up and was looking for her. He smiled as she returned to his arms. She knew she didn't need to tell where she had been. He would know without any explanation. Even without the mind reading there was nothing about Severus Snape she did not understand.
"I want to spent my whole life with you." She said. "My life and whatever follows."

"She said that?"
"She did." Snape nodded. "My mother loved her, Leyviena was everything my mother wanted for me. My father would die that night. The doctors said of a heart attack. Leyviena called it justice. Leyla was there when my mother died the winter before our graduation. It was cancer, Leyla wanted to do whatever it takes to keep my mother with us. She even wanted to make a deal with her father, I refused to. I did what she asked me too, I kept it so our link was blocked. It is what I'm teaching Harry, in a lighter form off course. To severe a powerful relationship like that, it takes power. That's why your mom can appear in your dreams, you are starting to form a bond just like it."
"What about now?" Hermione stared at him. "Do you want this connection back?"

"I never want Leyviena to be harmed because of me." He replied. "I love her and I love you. You are my daughter and I might not have shown it, it was too hard to see you. You're exactly like her, you would do anything to protect your friends."

"Will I ever meet her?"
