Luffy and Law were on their own patrol, having headsets on connected to both of their ears, make specifically for that purpose. They clipped to the front corner of their ears and then reached down their chin. They were held in place very well from the tight clips. They didn't hurt, and fit perfectly, and also had trackers in them for extra security.

They could have been connected to Luffy's visor, but it didn't matter much in the long run. They were still functional. The majority of the time, nothing happened, but then they came across a car robbery. They heard screaming, and somebody was in the car with them. The thief and a girl, screaming and crying.

Luffy didn't hesitate to dash after it, but was too slow, so he managed to rip the mic out of his ear, as it was magnetic, the front clipping to the back through the ear membrane and fur. It stuck to the license plate. Law was with the people whose car had been stolen and child kidnapped. Law had already told the agency about it, and that the headset was connected to it as a tracker.

It didn't take long for Thatch to get to the scene to help out, take questions, while Marco flew after the car, following the tracker. It took no time at all for him to find the car and recover it. Stopping it and arresting the criminal, as well as taking the poor girl out of the car and using an agency car to drive her back to her family while the police took the criminal away.

When the girl was returned safely to her family, Marco smiled at Luffy and told him that was definitely the right choice. To not try to stop the car and risk an accident, hurting the girl and driver, but had the split second decision to throw the tracker onto it. Luffy blushed and thanked him. Law pat him on the head, and Luffy smiled.

After that, they returned to the agency, and Ace and Sabo were out at the moment. The two got dressed in their normal clothes, putting their hero costumes away. "Good work today, guys," Thatch said, beaming. Law said Luffy did most of the work. "That's not true, you kept the people calm, as best as you could."

Luffy nodded, and added, "I didn't get them or anything, I just threw the thing at it. It could have failed, I was lucky."

"Don't downplay your achievements," Law said casually.

"Aww," they heard Haruta said, making both of them blush and Law scowl. Haruta just laughed and got back to work. They knew all of the names of the leaders at the agency, a very diverse group of people. Thatch bid them goodbye, and the two left, walking side by side. The two of them were talking, holding hands, when they both heard the sounds of a car driving recklessly.

It was coming fast, and even when they saw it coming at them with an angry driver, Law wasn't fast enough after grabbing Luffy and chucking him out of the way before he was nailed by the car and flew back as the car then swerved and raced away. "LAW!" Luffy screamed, running over. His leg was broken and his head was bleeding. Luffy called 911 immediately, and he and Law were both brought into the ambulance. They examined Law's head, and said his skull was cracked. That was what happened to Luffy! "We- we have to get Recovery Girl!" Luffy said. He called Rayleigh, and begged him to bring Recovery Girl to the hospital to help Law. He was hit by a car and hit his head, his leg breaking.

The teacher was very upset, and said he'd do what he could and be there as soon as possible. Then he called Law's family, and told them what happened. They would meet them at the hospital, too.

Luffy rubbed Law's ears gently as he was unconscious. The smaller was trying to be as calm as possible. He'd had a head injury and survived. As long as Recovery Girl helped, he'd be fine! Yeah. He'd be just fine, like Luffy had been. There was no other option, no reason he wouldn't be okay.

They got to the hospital quickly, and Luffy was left in the lobby. They thought he was a sibling, with good reason, but when he said he wasn't, they made him stay in the lobby. He was crying, pacing back and forth, waiting for his teacher and the healer to come. And they did, after Law's family showed up.

Both groups were in different cities than this hospital. They were far from both Law's home and the school. The family was kept out, but Recovery Girl alone was let in, well known in every hospital in Japan. Nobody had a healing power like hers. Not one that worked so quickly. Luffy was left with Rayleigh in the lobby. He quietly asked what happened, voice serious and usual smile missing.

Luffy explained about their interactions with the criminal that day, and then how a car targeted them and hit Law before speeding away. "He threw me out of the way and then got hit… and hit his head." Luffy touched his forehead where he'd slammed into the wall when Bellamy chucked him how he did. Luffy briefly wondered where he was now, and what he was doing.

Luffy was fine to not go to school at curfew time since he was with Rayleigh. They were sitting side by side when Recovery Girl came out. Luffy didn't know what to expect of her since she smiled every time he'd seen her. And she looked fine right now. Luffy sat up, asking how it went. His feet bad barely touched the floor in the seat. "He should be fine, but he'll be here overnight for observation. Just as you were, he should be just fine." Luffy let out a shaky sigh of relief, taking deep calming breaths.

Rayleigh said they should get back to school, and Luffy nodded. He went in the car the teacher and nurse had driven in. He had his things with him, Law's costume with him as well. He had his phone, but that was it. They drove back, and Luffy hurried to the dorms, starving and wanting to tell everyone the news.

When he got there, there was already food out, still warm thankfully, and Luffy got his share, sitting in his usual seat. "Law hit his head really bad and broke his leg, but Recovery Gril said he should be fine and be out by tomorrow," Luffy announced. Those who'd heard the news all sighed in relief.

His three closest friends and the two they went through hell with had all been the most worried of them. Luffy waited by his phone all night, but no message. When bed time came, Luffy knew he had to sleep alone. He wasn't looking forward to it. He went in Law's room, though. He laid on his bed, curled around his pillow, smelling like him.

He did fall asleep, though he woke up from the blob students crawling on him, their blood burning Luffy as it trickled down onto his skin. He woke with a scream before he took many calming breaths, and then tried again. It didn't work well either. This continued all night long, until he gave up at 4:30 and then just watched a movie on Law's bigger TV.

The next day, Law came back near the evening, and Luffy jumped on him, hugging him tightly. "I'm okay. No lasting damage," Law said, holding Luffy to him. "I'm sorry I scared you."

"I'm sorry you got hit for me," Luffy replied, not making eye contact, face still facing away from Law over his shoulder. Law pointed out that it would have hit him regardless, he was just able to make it so only one of them suffered. Then he said he wanted to go somewhere in private. The two went to Law's room, and he sat at the desk chair.

"Do… do you think that it could happen to me? What happened after you hit your head?" Law asked quietly, looking at his clasped hands, leaning forwards with his forearms on his thighs. He wasn't looking at Luffy, and sounded uneasy. It was a valid point. He was in the same situation Luffy had been in before.

Luffy quietly said he could try. "I don't know if I want to. What if I get something really bad?" Luffy replied that he didn't need to. He was already strong with his quirk. But that it was up to him. Nobody could force him one way or the other.

"No matter what the quirk is, nobody will think different of you. Well, nobody that really matters won't, and neither will our friends or the Whitebeards," Luffy replied kindly. Law nodded, and bit his lip, clearly unsure about what to do. But he decided to try, and they both went outside, out the side door and not the main back doors.

Luffy said he didn't know how he was supposed to try, since Dazzy only just appeared without him attempting to use it and he didn't even know it was there, it just showed up. Law looked forward, seeming outwardly like he was just standing there and doing nothing. Luffy was sitting patiently to the side, quiet.

He could see Todoroki watching from his window that was directly above them. He didn't have his face pressed to it or anything, he had a book in his lap and was just glancing down at them.

Law was getting frustrated before his own glowing thing came out. Only it looked nothing like Luffy's lights. It was harsh and three dimensional. It even left burning foot prints on the deck as it stalked them. Luffy was uneasy from it. His didn't look this threatening at all. He backed up a little bit, and when Law saw this, the light immediately backed off from how confrontational it had been seeming to the smallest.

The light was aloof for some reason. Again, like it existed before Law used it. It made noises and turned its head on Law like it was disgusted. Luffy hid a smile when Law glared at it, challengingly. Like he was scolding it. His second quirk was not nearly as calming and soothing as Luffy's. But it made sense why it wouldn't be the same. They looked similar, yes, but they also had completely different beast forms.

The light disappeared, and Law was visibly disappointed. Luffy said it was cool his could touch things. Luffy's were intangible. "I guess. It seems like an asshole." Luffy nodded, thinking that as well. But maybe he could train the light just fine. "I wish it would be instantly usable like yours."

Luffy said not everyone could be so lucky. "You deserve a good quirk," Law said. "After everything that's happened…" The smallest pointed out that Law had been through all of that stuff as well. Luffy wasn't alone, both of them weren't alone. Tokoyami and Shoji had also been through hell. "But you took it all the most personally."

"That's on me. Nobody makes me feel that way. Besides, I think Tokoyami is probably suffering in ways we aren't. You know why," Luffy said, voice full of sadness and sympathy. "But, Blackbeard is dead and gone. We won't go to that pit ever again. I hope that everyone there died instantly." It sounded calous, but having the blobs alive in the darkness, never to be found, was much worse than all of them dying painlessly.

Law nodded, and moved to put his arm around Luffy, holding him close to his side. "We'll all be okay," Law sighed. Luffy nodded, and leaned his head against Law's arms. He fell asleep and Law easily brought him to his room, laying him on his bed to sleep and went back later. Luffy was still asleep when he came back and got into bed after tucking Luffy in under his usual blanket and pillow.

Luffy was hunkered down in one of the main buildings as the streets flooded from a typhoon. It was typhoon season after all. It had been lucky there hadn't been any yet. But Luffy had been dispatched to work with the Whitebeards with it. Using his light powers, he made all of his light creatures shine brightly, illuminating the streets at periodic points as they helped those that were caught in the rapids. It was night time, and dangerous for rescue workers to save others.

He was bundled up in the room, at the window made of plexiglass and sure not to break. He wasn't doing anything but having his lights guide others. All of them but Dazzy were just lighting up the wide area. Dazzy blinked lights in one direction, showing that was where the flooding ended. It was freezing and windy outside, and Luffy was glad he didn't need to be out there.

He would no dout easily be washed away, and had to wear a heavy backpack. A very heavy backpack, so he didn't blow away. He really was tiny and light, so it was a very real possibility that he could be blown away or swept into the waters easily. He was with Thatch in there. Marco and Law couldn't use their flight abilities without being blown away and being useless in the wind.

Luffy stayed up all night keeping his lights up, and was carried down into the car after falling asleep, exhausted at 3 AM when everyone seemed to be rescued from the cars and buildings that were flooding, with the people in the top floors or braving the rooftops while their homes filled with freezing water.

Thatch carried him back, and drove him and Law back to the school. They had a note for Rayleigh about how late they'd stayed up. So he would be understanding about them missing that day of class. At least in the morning. But they all knew the man would be understanding. It was a big job, and many students had been working there. So many would be absent the next morning.

Luffy was glad his quirk was intangible so Dazzy and the other lights couldn't be blown away. They worked better than spotlights coming from the buildings, as they moved when it was needed. The faupta was proud of himself for being able to assist in his own special way. So, they were driven back to the school and Rayleigh was there at the gates as the rain poured down.

He helped the exhausted boys back inside and up to their rooms. Luffy, in the middle of the night, awoke and moved to Law's room, like usual.

When the storm got worse, class was canceled, as they couldn't even leave the dorm safely. So, they stayed there for the day, Rayleigh coming there to teach, since he was stuck inside, as well. It was cool, getting their lessons from the couches and carpeted floor.

Luffy's body was sore, even though he hadn't done any real physical work the night previous. Just walking through the storm and carrying the heavy bag was uncomfortable and made him sore. Everyone was exhausted. They'd all been working to help with the storm, their first natural disaster to take part in the rescue.

After Rayleigh was done, he gave them stuff to work on while the storm was raging. Well, not raging too much anymore, but still pretty intense. Luffy got a text from Ace, and he opened it to see news clips of the storm, and showing Dazzy leading everyone to the safe zone. He smiled at it. He really did think Dazzy was alive in some way, so he was happy it got some attention for its hard work.

After they were done working, and most of them taking a much needed nap, Law went to the second common room, where nobody really went, and tried working with his belligerent light quirk. It really seemed alive, as it had a personality, bad though it may be. Law was very frustrated when it ignored him and went to digging though boxes in the corner of the room. "Fucking stop it! Listen to me!" It swished a tail at him. It was also burning the boxes.

Luffy summoned Dazzy, who approached Law's light, above it, since his light didn't need to stand on solid ground like Law's seemed to need. When Dazzy got close, the rough, static like edges of Law's calmed into a flat creature, the fur flat. Luffy started laughing about it. Luffy's light calmed Law's. It was so funny. Law walked to him and sat down, dragging him to his lap. Luffy let him, and Law rested his chin on Luffy's head and ears.

"I love you," Law said in a confident voice. Luffy's face turned bright red, but the other couldn't see it. Luffy quietly returned the sentiment. He had thought it would be him to say it first, so it was a pleasant surprise. Dazzy and Law's light were laying side by side on the floor. Luffy was so happy, felt safe and warm.

Uraraka interrupted them, poking her head inside, and asked if Law's light was behaving. "Only when Dazzy is with it so far," Luffy supplied.

"Aww…" she said, making Law bristle. "Sanji is making dinner soon," she added and then left. Neither stood up until they could smell the food ready, and then made their way inside, having their lights return and go out.

"Maybe Dazzy can help you train it. Though I won't always be there. Your light is kind of bratty," Luffy said. Law agreed.

"It's kind of cheesy that it only behaves when it's with your light."

"Maybe you should give it a name. Might make it happier in some way." Law had no idea what to name his anything that wasn't negative. All it had shown so far was disrespect to its quirk owner. Luffy was sure that other quirks didn't have their own personalities or motivations to do things. Or there were, and he just didn't know of any.

When things got back to normal, and the storms ended, Luffy and Law went on another date, this time on a hike in the nearest park. They could climb a steep mountain or hill. After all, they climbed up a straight ledge in that hell hole, up and up, and also down. They would be fine. They had backpacks on, and had their lights out with them.

They were trying to get Law's light, still unnamed, to cooperate. It was racing with Dizzy up the mountain side. Luffy's backpack was not that heavy, but it also wasn't small. Law had the food and first aid in his. They climbed up the mountain, in comfortable silence, paying attention to their surroundings.

The couple climbed up past a guy using climbing gear up the straight cliff. Luffy giggled at his shock. But having clawed fingers really helped them with this kind of thing. Dazzy had been walking up the air during that climb, while Law's light had to leave, as it couldn't climb or fly. It seemed sad that Dazzy was going ahead of it.

But Law brought it back out when they made it to the top. They looked behind them at the scenery of the entire park below, and the city beyond. "Only we could get this high. We're pretty cool!" Luffy said enthusiastically. Law smiled and nodded in agreement. Luffy took out his phone and took photos of the surroundings, all of them looking beautiful.

Luffy turned ahead of them, and asked, "Do you want to keep going up?" Law nodded. After all, they didn't have to climb down, Law would fly them. Luffy wasn't exactly heavy to carry. Law would take them down easily. So, they continued on until it started to get more dangerous, and they were on more unstable rocks.

The smaller looked where he was walking, but accidentally stepped on a lizard, which made him quickly pul his foot up, but he stepped back onto an unsteady rock and twisted his ankle, making him fall down the side, hurting and getting cut. Law shouted his name and started to run down after him.

But his light raced forward and grabbed Luffy before he fell anymore. The poor faupta was covered in dirt and scratches. His head hurt, too, and Law was freaking out over all his injuries, and how far they were from any hospital. "Don't worry, I'll be okay," Luffy assured him.

"You're covered in blood!"

"Just watch," Luffy said, and brought out the orange light that healed him of his wounds. He still had blood and dirt on him, but the injuries were gone. "I'm sorry I scared you. But I'm okay. Though I kind of don't want to climb any higher."

Law hugged him close. He'd been so scared when he was going towards the cliff. He wouldn't have been able to fly to him fast enough. But his light saved Luffy. Law looked at it with a new expression. Not one of anger or irritation, but of such gratefulness. "Thank you," Law said sincerely to his quirk. "You're a hero." Then he had a strange look on his face. "I'm naming you Hero."

Luffy thought it was fitting, and Hero didn't seem upset with it. Dazzy rubbed up against it like a real cat would, in thanks, though it didn't offer any touch. It couldn't save Luffy since it wasn't solid like Hero was. After they ate their snacks and drank some water, Law transformed and picked up Luffy, holding him close with the clawed hands, taking them down the mountain leisurely.

It was amazing. Luffy wished he could fly. Both of their lights were gone, now and they made their way back to the base of the mountain and beginning of the park. When they landed, Luffy looked up at where they came from. They had gone very high. Neither had set out to go so far, but they both wanted to challenge themselves.

Besides Luffy's fall, it was a great hike. And they had some really good photos of everything! Luffy would have taken photos from being held up by Law, high in the air, but he didn't want to drop his phone and need to have his mom buy him another one. He was going to visit her the next day.

"Law, will you meet my mom?" Luffy asked on the bus as they took it back to the train station to return back to UA. Law looked uneasy about it. "She knows you make me very happy. There's no way she would ever not like you. And she already knows you have both of my brothers' approval." The taller still looked worried, so Luffy made sure he wasn't going to pressure him into it.

"I don't know… Not yet," he said, sounding guilty. Luffy took his left hands and made sure Law knew that he wanted him to be comfortable, wouldn't force him. "Thanks," Law said warmly. When they got to the station, they boarded the train with their hero passes, a perk of having a license, and headed back to UA and made it in time. The hike had been for six hours, and both were starting to feel the tiredness.

When they got to the dorm, many of the other students were gone, taking advantage of the weekend and the ability to leave campus, finally. While Luffy really, really wanted to live at home again, he'd see a lot less of Law, and that would make him a bit sad. But they would see each other at school and work. And definitely during their free time.

But lif in the dorms… it wasn't a novelty anymore. He wanted the privacy of home, to be with his mom. He missed her, and missed his house, the backyard. It would just be nice to return to full normal after months of not.
