The Birth of A God: Sasuke

Thunder crashed as Sasuke stared at the destructive power of his mage. A flash of lightning later, and the Uchiha was blitzing forwards, his movements almost impossible to see to the untrained eye. He wasn't holding back, even with his blindness. Nothing could stop him. The powerful Uchiha suddenly disappeared in a flash of speed, appearing behind a large tree before he swung the sword he made, lightning flashing off of it before it carved through the trees thick trunk.

Sasuke took a deep breath, letting his shroud fall, the lightning that shot from his body disappearing. When he activated his shroud it was easier to feel the electromagnetic field that he created with his magic. It widened his range with the technique, allowing him to feel things that were previously completely unknown to him without someone warning him or it broke into his field.

The young Uchiha sat on the ground, letting his sword disappear in a flash of magic. Sighing the Uchiha focused his magic, his powers swirling around him as he tried to access his powers once more. Naruto had said that he would be able to achieve the true power of his Drive, especially if he had grown more capable at using his Lightning God Slayer Magic. He would consider using electrolocation a significant step forwards in his ability to use magic. But there was something he had to do first. Something that he to handle before he knew he could achieve his Drive.

A way to test if he had achieved the correct level.

Sasuke closed his eyes, meditating as an aura of magic appeared around him. He couldn't see the change happen, but he could feel it. The appearance of his inner self. His true thoughts. Similar to the Falls of Truth that Naruto had told him about, the Uchiha opened his eyes, his energy swirling. It was only thanks to Rai's and Kai's training that he was able to do this without being in a place that had a lot of magic flowing through it, more than the natural amount. It required quite a lot of magic to do however.

He frowned as he heard himself speak.

"Sasuke..."

Jet grunted as he threw himself back into his kata's, grunting as he swung his spear around. Gae Dearg cleaved through the air, weightlessly carving through any rocks or trees that got in the way of Jet's movements. With a heave and a cry he finished his kata, launching the weapon forwards, cleaving straight through the largest tree in the area.

Jet grunted, ripping the spear out of the thick trunk, wiping the sweat from his brow with his other hand. The Fairy Tail mage slowly sat on the ground, grunting as he felt the exhaustion of his training slam into him all at once. Groaning the older teen collapsed onto the ground, sweat coating his body. Slowly the man closed his eyes, his body drifting to sleep.

"You look dead."

Jet's eyes opened slowly, noticing the woman before him. "Cana."

"Hey," the attractive brown-haired woman said. "How long have you been out here? I haven't seen you in the guild to much recently. I know Erza wanted to talk with you, but there has to be something else that's been keeping you away. Did you unlock Double Accel or something?"

"No. I'm still not even near breaking down that barrier. I don't even know where to begin. I guess my body just can't handle that type of punishment."

"Then why are you out here by yourself? Working with a spear no less?"

"Well Erza suggested that until I can find a way to break down the barrier into Double Accel I should do something else. Using a weapon wasn't too bad of an idea."

Cana grunted, a smirk forming on her face. "Oh really? It takes a long time to be able to use a weapon effectively. You won't be seeing much improvement with it quickly."

"True," Jet stated. "But it also helps with physical conditioning, so hopefully I'll unlock Double Accel faster. Besides, it's always good to broaden your skill set."

Cana grunted, clenching her fists. "Oh really? And how broad do you think this skill set of yours actually is?"

Jet grinned, clenching Gae Dearg, pointing it at the attractive Fairy Tail mage. "You want to find out?"

The two grinned before their miniature spar began, both testing the limits of their newfound abilities.

Mirajane sighed as she watched Sasuke, leaning against a tree as the rain stormed down towards the ground. Lightning flashed in the sky, likely due to Sasuke's magic. Ever since he had started meditating the weather had begun to change. Storm clouds had formed and it began to pour down rain. The Uchiha hadn't seemed bothered in the slightest, although his face was one of hard concentration.

Sasuke, unaware of Mirajane's presence, stared at the appearance of himself in front of him. "You," he muttered.

"So, my dear self, why have you called me?"

"You know why, there's no need to answer that question."

"Really? I'm afraid I'm confused. Why are you coming to me to see if you can achieve your Drive? It's not quite like your eyes. You aren't plagued by anger like you were back when I was in control."

Sasuke grunted at his other self's commentary. "You mean when I was in control."

"Oh, you think you were in control that whole time?"

"You are me," Sasuke stated plainly. "There is no way around that. We are one and the same. You represent everything I sought to repress when Naruto saved me. I've long known that we were one-in-the-same. I cannot deny responsibility for the pain I've caused on others. I can only atone."

"Ah, ever the Avenger. First it was your family, now your crimes. Even so, that doesn't explain why you've come to see me of all people."

"I have no Drive."

"Now that's a lie."

"It's the truth," Sasuke roared. "Ever since I've come to this world I've had no drive! I'm not like Naruto. Caring for my precious people isn't enough for me to unlock my Drive! And I can't do without something that I care about!"

"Well then, I guess you know your problem then. Someone like you can't care about anything. You've buried your emotions too deep inside of you. Because you fear them."

"I do not fear anything."

"More lies," the faux-Sasuke stated. "You fear yourself. Naruto saved you from yourself once before, so you isolated yourself from your emotions ever since in order to make sure that you never went down that dark path again. The darkness that you are so prone to when your emotions are at the surface. The venom in your blood. The hatred. The power that you naturally crave. There's nothing wrong with that. Embrace it."

"When I embrace it people die!" Sasuke stated.

"And if you do not embrace it you will never know what your drive is. Your drive stems from your emotions, and until you accept them, you will never know what pushes you forward! What wakes you up in the morning!"

Sasuke snarled. "There's always Mito."

"Don't delude yourself. You're worried about her, but not nearly in the same way that you were worried about Naruto back when we were against him, or even Itachi. She doesn't register on the same threat level. There's no connection. No reason to hate her. No, she isn't your reason for fighting. You know what the real reason is. You enjoy it. The sound of your heartbeat in your ears, the feeling of the unimaginable power that obeys your every whim, you crave it. You're just like how you were before you left the Elemental Nations. You are a man who craves power. That is your drive."

Sasuke shook his head. "No! I do not crave power. I only crave to keep what is mine protected."

"Stealing words from Naruto again are we?"

Sasuke snarled, cutting off the connection. This was useless. The rain above stopped, and the lightning paused. The faux-Sasuke just stared at his real self until he too faded, sweat dripping down Sasuke's face.

"Damn it."

"Sasuke?"

Sasuke blinked, turning towards Mira, his mental conversation having made him completely oblivious to her presence. "Mira? How long have you been there?"

"Long enough," she stated. "Who were you talking to? No one was there?"

Sasuke sighed, rubbing his face. He shook his head. "It was nothing. Don't worry about it."

"It didn't sound like nothing." The S-class mage approached Sasuke, placing a hand on his shoulder and kneeling in front of him. "It sounded like you were having a conversation. Something about power?"

Sasuke was silent. Mirajane frowned, tightening her grip on Sasuke. "What is it Sasuke? What is it that when you embrace people die?"

"Nothi-"

"Stop lying to me," Mirajane interrupted. "You've told me things before Sasuke. About your family back in the Elemental Nations. About what they would think of you, about how you feel about your life here. So stop lying. Tell me, what is it?"

Sasuke frowned, glancing at the ground, only for Mira to grab his chin and force him to look at her. "Sasuke, I'm right here. I'm not going to judge you. What is it that you won't let yourself do?"

"My emotions!"

Mira blinked, confused, but Sasuke quickly elaborated. "I cut myself off from my emotions almost entirely. When I don't bad things happen to everyone I care about. It the curse of my family."

Mirajane frowned. "What do you mean? You seem to show emotion at Fairy Tail."

"I'm also extremely distant. No, I don't show any real anger there, because when I do people die. You know my past. Whenever I get angry, truly angry, someone dies. I almost killed Naruto once remember? Shoved my hand through his chest."

"You were younger."

"I'm still the same person," Sasuke stated. "Sure my hatred has decreased, but the thing that causes hatred hasn't. And the manifestation of my hate hasn't weakened in the slightest."

"What are you talking about?"

"My Sharingan," Sasuke stated. "Where I'm from, those who know its origins call it the Curse of Hatred."

"How can eyes be a manifestation of hatred? I know your world was different than ours, but it didn't seem like anything other than the Bijuu could manifest emotions into power."

Sasuke sighed. "My clan, the Uchiha Clan, is one that harbors a great amount of love. You'd be surprised, considering we're typically very stoic. We hide our traits," Sasuke stated. He paused, and Mira waited patiently for him to continue. Clearly this wasn't easy. Sasuke was not comfortable opening up to anyone if his body language was anything to go on. He was leaning away from her, and not looking her in the eyes. There was tension in his muscles as well.

"When our love is lost, that's when we manifest our Sharingan. It's born of hatred, hatred of the loss of love. And when I say hatred I mean an all-encompassing hatred that no longer cares for the consequences of their actions. The stronger and more evolved your Sharingan gets the stronger your hatred becomes. Naruto destroyed that hatred, or at least I thought he did. He dulled it, but it never disappeared. I was just able to control it. But coming here...losing everything I've ever known..."

"It's rekindling those emotions. That's the Drive that you were talking about," Mira stated. Sasuke blinked, looking at her. She really had heard the entire conversation. Mirajane smiled. "That's not a bad Drive Sasuke."

"You're wrong," he stated. "That's not my Drive."

"Your Drive is to protect those that you care about."

Sasuke blinked. "You're more like Naruto than you think Sasuke," Mirajane stated. "You both have the same drive. You fight to protect what you care about, you're just willing to go into the darker side of that that Naruto isn't willing to go into. It's not a difference in intensity but in mannerism. It manifests in your emotion. Until you acknowledge that, I don't think you can achieve your Drive."

Sasuke blinked, silently processing what Mira said. Mira smirked, before in a flash of magic she was covered in her Satan Soul. "I would know," she stated. "I'm much like you. I would do anything to protect Elfman, especially after losing Lisanna. I'd delve into the darkest, most vile part of my nature, and draw out even the most demonic Soul I have to do so, even if it meant sacrificing someone."

Sasuke's eyes widened, staring up at Mira before he smiled. "Well look at us, Fairy Tail's pair of demons."

Mira smiled, returning to her normal state. "Indeed."

Sasuke smirked, and with his hand grasping hers, the lightning began to flash again and his inner self appeared before him once more. Mira, due to her connection with Sasuke, saw the creation, and with a clench of his hand smirked. Sasuke clenched his hand back before he cried out and an outpouring of power surged through the air, and the thunderstorm exploded into a shower of lightning.

Barakiel frowned as he entered the King's throne room. The lights were noticeably darker. However he payed that no mind, kneeling before the King. Toma E. Fiore nodded, before raising his hand, Barakiel standing.

"You wanted to speak with me Barakiel?"

"Yes your Highness. I had a concern that I wanted to bring to your attention."

Toma frowned, nodding. Barakiel held out a letter, the same one that Yajima had given to him. A guard quickly took the letter and handed it to the King. It took him only a few minutes to read the letter before he glanced at Barakiel.

"Is that all?"

Barakiel blinked. "Well currently your Highness, but I think that-"

"There's nothing here," Toma stated. "The Magic Council acted in a rational manner of speaking if the reasoning Yajima explained is true."

"Your Highness!" Barakiel cried, outraged. "They acted recklessly. Those were Fiore-based mages in that tower. Guild members! There were civilians that could have been caught in the blast radius, and for a theory? There's no evidence that the Tower even worked!"

"And they should have risked it," Toma stated. "If even one of his creations work then its far to dangerous to be left to chance, especially to some sub-par Wizard Saints."

Barakiel frowned. Sub-par? Naruto and Sasuke were some of the most powerful Wizard Saints Fiore had, everyone knew that after the Tournament Incident. They had a tendency to be irresponsible, but sub-par was a very large leap in logic. Toma would never regard them in such a manner, especially when he knew so little of magic.

"What about the other comments Yajima makes," Barakiel claimed. Toma blinked.

"They disappeared. Add them to the list of Dark Mages if you want. Put a bounty on them for all I care. But I see no reason why the current Council, it's remaining members, should be under suspicion."

"Because a current member suspects them?"

"If I am to believe him what's to say I should trust him? Why should I trust his suspicion, who's to say this isn't a plot?"

"Because two members of the Magic Council have gone rogue! One disappeared, and the other seemingly vanished into thin air after the Tower of Heaven Incident! You cannot-"

"Mind your tongue Barakiel," Toma stated, causing Barakiel to frown.

"My apologies your Highness. But the Council clearly can't be trusted. They endangered civilians and mages. They won't even shut themselves down after such a risk to the countries security. Surely this cause for at least some action!"

"Enough," Toma stated. "The Magic Council will continue to act with impunity. That is the end of this discussion Barakiel. Do not bring this up to anyone," Toma stated before waving the letter in front of Barakiel. "And I shall be keeping this."

Barakiel frowned, gritting his teeth but giving a curt nod before he dismissed himself from the throne room. The second he was out of sight of Toma he disappeared in a burst of speed, appearing above the city of Crocus, lightning covering his body. Anger flashed on his face as he pulled out a lacrima, Wolfheim's face appearing on the lacrima.

"I'm assuming that he didn't take it well going by the look on your face."

"Not at all. It seems we're on our own."

Wolfhiem sighed, rubbing his brow. "So...a way to take down the Magic Council. There is a way we could do that. It would also cause possibly the biggest security incident in the history of the world."

"And how do you propose that?"

When Wolfheim finished his explanation Barakiel's eyes were wide with horror.

"That is..."

"Unacceptable? Immoral? High Treason? Enough to get both of us executed for even talking about it? Wrong in every sense of the word? Undoubtedly. But it works. And there's a scapegoat."

"Wolfhiem, I can't-"

"You grow to be my age Barakiel," Wolfheim stated. "And you see lots of things that are scary. Legendary mages so powerful they could put the entire country on lock down. Items so powerful they have to be buried under decades worth of secret texts in order to have their existence purged from history. And yet, none of it is as scary as the elite who care only for themselves. The elite can't be touched. Not within the bounds of the law. If you choose to stay within the bounds of the law they will cause more damage than good and you know it," Wolfheim stated.

"Let me do it. It's not as though we can't have a hit squad go after them immediately afterwards."

Barakiel frowned. "Wolfheim I-"

"Are you willing to sacrifice the country for a few? Or a few for the country Barakiel," Wolfheim questioned. "Because that is the ultimate question here."

Barakiel was silent for a long while.

"Do it."

Mito grunted as she reached out, grabbing the lacrima that held Son Goku and Kokuo. She nodded, walking down the long hallway before arriving at a spiral staircase. As the redheaded woman walked down the staircase she arrived in a cell house stored to the brim with people, all looking at Mito expectantly. Mito smiled at all of them, before she quickly pointed at two of them. They rushed towards her, causing her to smile before she reached out with her hands, the bars on the cell melting away and allowing the two to leave the cell. As they left Mito returned her hands, the cells returning back to their original states.

"Mito-sama-" The two began only for Mito to raise a hand, the two quieting instantly. With her other hand she showed them the lacrima, and with the fervor of the most devout of priests they reached out and grasped the lacrima before they each made a small incision in their chests.

"Awake," Mito said. "Awake Son Goku. Awake Kokuo."

The two inserted the lacrima into their chests, before a powerful magic aura swirled around them. The two slowly began to change shape, a smile appearing on Mito's face as the transformation began to be completed.

"It's time."

"Understood," the two stated, their voices completely different.

Gray grunted as he finished lacing up his shoes, grunting once more as he stood.

"Leaving so soon?"

Gray turned, surprised to see Dan standing there, only this time he was in a suit of armor. "Yeah," Gray stated. "I have to be back at my guild soon. We have an event coming up. I don't wanna miss it."

"I see," Dan stated, before he threw a bag at Gray. Gray caught it, surprised as he felt its contents shuffle.

"It's food," Dan stated. "I was gonna give you something to eat, but if you're taking off after only a week, well then I figure you should take it with you. You're still definitely not at top shape yet."

"Thanks," Gray stated, walking passed the man towards the door. "Who runs this place anyway? I haven't seen any guild mages, even when I was walking through the town."

"Most mages don't come to this town, as there isn't much work to be found," Dan stated. "It used to be protecting by an order of knights, one I used to be a part of, however that group joined the Zentopia Church. The Zentopia Church handles the safeguard of this town and also controls this shelter."

Gray's eyes widened. "The Zentopia Church? I thought they didn't have that much jurisdiction in the towns of Fiore ever since the war?"

"The Magic Councils forces aren't as big as the pretend they are," Dan stated. "They may pretend like their armies are never ending, but they aren't, especially with the critical damage they've been suffering from as of late. Therefore the Zentopia Church protects some of the areas the Magic Council can't, in return for our autonomy and rights to act as an independent state."

"So you guys are the ones that protect Kardia Cathedral even though it's in Magnolia?"

Dan nodded. "Yes! Is the Zentopia Church truly not amazing?"

"How come I've never met any guard there then?"

"The guards watch primarily at night," Dan stated. "Kardia Cathedral is heavily visited during the daylight, and with your guild being there we tend to not be too worried about the damage it would receive. You all have a tendency for property damage, but we also have faith that you would defend the Cathedral, thus the guards there typically are not there all the time."

"I see," Gray stated. "Well whatever. It was nice meeting you Dan."

"You as well Gray Fullbuster of Fairy Tail! Go forth in your journey strong my friend!"

Gray waved as he walked away, rolling his eyes. 'Weird guy.'

Gajeel grunted, the sheet of armor that covered his body weighing him down. He was only able to move due to the sheer amount of magic power surging through his muscles, making them stronger and denser than before. The teen groaned. He felt heavy.

"Didn't think my Drive would be like this," Gajeel muttered.

The teen groaned, dragging his body forwards before his eyes widened. That bond, he could feel it. The ground was coated in iron. He could feel it tugging at him, calling out his name. Grinning Gajeel pulled on the tug, a slab of haematite shooting from the ground. Gajeel grinned, resting a hand on it. Slowly he turned, noticing the weight of his armor beginning to wear on him. With a grunt he deactivated his drive, collapsing onto the ground.

"Damn it!"

Gajeel growled in fury. His Drive made him stronger, he could feel it. But it also made him slow. He knew it of course, Metalicana had never moved particularly fast, even for a dragon, but this was completely unexpected. He was surprised Metalicana could move as fast as he did if he had to deal with all that weight on his body. The dragon was clearly stronger than Gajeel had given him credit for.

He would have to build up quite the hefty bit of muscle mass to be able to withstand that weight. Clenching his fists Gajeel roared into the sky. All that training and progress for what? Just to hit another roadblock?

The Iron Dragonslayer could only think of Natsu, and the power the redhead was going to gain with his Drive. There was no doubt in his mind that the fire-based Dragonslayer didn't have the same type of drawbacks an iron-based Dragonslayer would have. His element didn't carry weight to it. Gritting his teeth Gajeel immediately got to work.

What did it matter if Natsu had an advantage? That just meant that he got the easy way.

And fate favored those who worked harder than anyone else.

Laxus smirked as he looked over Magnolia, a grin over his face as the moon lit up the town.

"Bickslow will be back soon, meaning all of the Thunder God Tribe will be back in Magnolia. With the invitations being set out, soon all the extra guests will be here as well. The time has finally come," Laxus stated, a grin on his face. "Your little fairies are gonna eat each other alive."

Laxus roared, his arms widening. "Hear that old man! Your era's about to come to an end!"

"Soon, soon all the fairies will be replaced with my lightning!"

Sorry for the short chapter guys, but I'm afraid there's not much to cover. Sasuke getting his power-up was the central focus, and because I couldn't really think of any way for that to take too especially long it's pretty short. All the other plot threads for Season 1 have pretty much been set up and will either be wrapped up in the current arc and handled in Season 2. So, next chapter begins the final arc of Season 1. I hope you guys are excited.

Question.

Do you want me to start a new story as the sequel (as in in won't be listed under the Story of Lightning and Wind but under something else), or keep it under this one? I know some people have preferences about this so I thought I'd ask you all. Anyways, enjoy the chapter, and get ready. The next update brings the fairies to war with themselves.
