A/N: Joining the list of OCs is Sharp, Howl, and Cosmo!
Fives shivered and hugged himself. "What kind of cruiser loses heat? In space?!"
Echo wasn't shivering, but only because he had on his nicely heated suit. "They'll fix it by morning, Fives. Go to sleep."
Fives snorted. "How can I sleep when I'm freezing?"
"Put on your suit."
"Echo, not even you can sleep in that thing. It's too stiff, and it always pinches me when I try."
Echo didn't argue, which meant Fives had won. Fives threw off his useless blanket and hurriedly put on his fatigues.
"Where are you going?" Echo asked.
"I can't sleep, so I might as well walk to keep warm," Fives said.
Echo scrambled out of bed. "I'm coming with you."
The halls were empty when Fives and Echo emerged. Most squads had found some excuse to leave for another cruiser or planet, and Fives didn't blame them. Only a few of the 501st had stayed behind with General Skywalker and Commander Tano. Fives was pretty sure General Plo Koon and Wolfpack were around somewhere, though.
After a bit of wandering, Fives and Echo spotted Tinker trotting down the hall. Fives called out, and Tinker stopped and turned. He was holding a blanket.
"Can't sleep, either?" Fives asked as he and Echo joined Tinker.
"Not yet." Tinker made a face. "Never thought it could get so cold on a cruiser."
"Yeah." Echo shivered, looking like he regretted taking off his armor. "It's going to be a long night."
Tinker grinned. "Maybe not. Grab your blankets and follow me."
Curious, Fives and Echo did as they were told. Wolfpack was a bit famous for surviving a crash on a freezing planet with no source of warmth for hours before a rescue team could reach them. They hadn't lost a teammate, but kept their methods a secret.
Tinker led them to one of the barracks, then opened the door with a grin.
"Hey, I found some strays," Tinker announced.
Fives and Echo didn't move at first, startled by what they saw.
Wolfpack was… laying on the floor. All in one big pile! Pillows had been piled up like a low wall around the pile of clones. Inside the pillow wall, Wolfpack laid on blankets or each other, sleeping or reading holo-books. Even Wolffe was relaxing inside, leaning his back against Warthog's and with a sleeping Boost slumped against his upraised knees.
"Scoot over, Sharp," Tinker said, stepping carefully into the tangled clones. "Drag Howl over there."
One of the clones set aside his holo-book and hauled one of his brothers -who was snoring quite impressively- over himself and flopped him onto another.
"Sharp!" protested the clone who now had Howl draped over him. "He's snoring in my ear!"
"Good luck with that, Cosmo," Sharp said, impassively going back to his holo-book.
Tinker plopped down and waved at Fives and Echo. "Come on!"
Fives skeptically stepped into the empty space inside the pillow wall. At Tinker's urging, Fives put down his blanket and laid down. His shoulder pressed against Tinker's, but Echo stepped inside before Fives could move.
Tinker snickered and nudged him. "Don't worry, I don't bite."
"Unless you're Kix," Sharp said, prompting chuckles from the rest of the pile.
Echo laid beside Fives, squishing his shoulders against Fives and Boost's feet. Echo squirmed, then stilled. Surrounded on all sides, he was warm for the first time all night! He turned to Fives, only to see him already dozing off.
"Told you," Tinker said with a yawn.
Echo carefully moved so his head was on Boost's feet. Fives, bothered by Echo moving, sleepily rolled onto his side so his arms flung over Echo's stomach. Echo grinned down at Fives, then closed his eyes. He was lulled to sleep by the warm press of bodies and the low murmurings of Wolfpack.
A/N: I don't think Rex is getting his boys back.
Up next: Due to comm failure, Wolfpack resorts to a more... feral method of communication.
