Carol, Daryl and I leave when Rick's group does, as do Maggie, Glenn, and Tara. The others locking up behind us as we all go to scavenge what we can before nightfall. Carol takes the lead, letting Daryl and I trail behind to talk "so just like that, everything's okay?" Daryl asks me.

I turn my head to meet his eyes as we walk along the road "Gareth wanted to keep me alive at Terminus, who knows what for.." I trail off not wanting to think about it too much "then when you were taken with the others, I knew they would kill you. And all I could think about was that if I did get to see you again, I would tell you how much you mean to me." I tell him honestly.

"and how much do I mean to you?" He asks raising his eyebrows.

"you know" I smirk back shyly.

He nudges me, pushing me aside lightly "come on, say it."

"I love you" I mumble back to him.

He laughs, pulling me into a side hug and squeezes tightly "ya, I love yew too" and kisses me on the forehead.

We find the stream that Gabriel told us about, the one he's been going to to get his water from lately. We fill some bottles up and follow it downstream, further then where he has gone before. We head back to the road, searching for plants with berries on them or hunting small animals to kill.

We walk the road, dead leaves blowing in the wind. Daryl walking a head of me alongside Carol, wanting to talk with her. I let them be, happy she was around to save us all from that hell we were in. "Hey, I get it. You don't want to talk about it." I hear Daryl say to her. Although I don't care to ease drop, there's nothing else around to listen to, "you okay?" He asks her.

"Gotta be." She says back to him. A flash back from the jail comes to me, when Daryl and Carol had the same exchange, only Daryl and I weren't in a good place then.

"We get to start over." He tells her. Turning to look at me for a second "all of us with each other. You saved us all by yourself."

Carol answers after a second "we got lucky. We all should be dead." as we come up a small incline there's an old car on the side of the road. "I'll check it." she says, moving a bit faster to get to it.

Daryl waits for me to catch up to him, walking along side together towards her. We get there after she already checked to see if it would start. She goes to the trunk and opens it. "Hey," Daryl gets her attention "we ain't dead. And whatever happened, happened."

"Let's start over." I add on to her, letting her know it's okay to do so.

Daryl looks at me with a grin "we are."

She says to us "I want to" but nothing else follows, not even a but.

"Well, you can." Daryl urges her.

She clicks on the generator in the trunk and it hums with life "we should leave this here for backup in case things go south at the church." She closes the trunk, bending down to lift up her water.

Daryl throws his hand out "want me to carry one of those?" But the one in his hand flies out, and hits the ground.

We all chuckle "no." she assures him and we move along. The road intersects with another and we decide to spread out, search the woods and meet back up at the car in 2 hours.

"Sadie-Mae, stay close." He tells me as I go to move off in another direction.

"of course" I say to him, happy he's behaving like himself again. I search the area, finding some wild growing berries along the way. A few squirrels past by me but I don't have my bow anymore. I try to scramble around when I spot them, to get them towards Daryl for him to take out and bring back to camp.

My watch beeps, and I turn it off quickly, I only ran into 2 walkers alone but as the sun was starting to set I didn't want to draw any more near me. I back track my way towards the road again ready to head back to the church and eat something. Just as I am about to hit the pavement I hear a car coming down the road fast. I stay hidden in the woods as it zooms directly past me. After it goes by I see Daryl running into the road to look at it. "They have a white cross on it?" He asks, not sure he truly saw what he saw.

"Ya. Looked like one" I say back quickly, coming out to the road to meet him. He runs back to the car we found earlier "what's going on?" I question him confused.

He starts to bang against the back lights with his bow "Whoa, whoa! What are you doing?" Carol yells towards him.

"Daryl, what's going on?" I yell too, now standing next to Carol just as confused.

"What are you doing?" Carol asks in a quick breathe, we look at each other worried.

He responds, getting the other light out "they got Beth!" He explains. "Come on. Come on, get in." He gets in the driver side. I get in the passenger side, Carol in the back and he turns the car on and speeds off in the direction the car with the white cross was going.

I already know Beth and Daryl were together after the prison. I know she was taken by someone who drove a car with a white cross, but that's all I know. It's been maybe a week since Daryl and I came together again, I've been too worried to ask questions. "So it was just you and Beth after?" Carol asks from the back seat.

I keep my eyes forward when he answers "Yeah."

"You save her?" She asks.

"She's tough. She saved herself." He answers. "We were out there for a while. We got cornered, she got out in front of me and- I don't know, she was gone. I came out and a car's pulling out with a white cross on the window."

"Just like that one?" I ask staring ahead at the car we are following.

"Yep." He answers, running over a walker lying in the road.

"Rick's gonna wonder where we went." I tell them both.

"Tank's runnin' low." Daryl doesn't address what I say.

"We can end this quick. Just run him off the road." Carol suggest.

"Nah, we're good for a bit." He denies her idea.

I agree with Carol though, encourage her idea "ya but if they're holding her somewhere, we can get it out of the driver."

"Yeah, but if he don't talk, we're back to square one." He reminds us of the other possibility. "Right now we got the advantage. We'll see who they are. If they're a group, see what they can do. And then we'll do what we gotta do to get her back."

I peak out the window, trying to get a glimpse at the sign we are passing "they're heading north, I-85."

Daryl nods, picking the pace up just a little as their speed increases. We follow them into the city, the highway is basically empty "been a while since we've been near one of these" I smile to Daryl, remembering leaving Atlanta after running into one another here when Rick found me again. He doesn't look to me though, and stays focused on what's in front of him, answers.

We get into the city and they stop at a stop sign. They sit idling, no one getting out of the car. "what the hell he waiting for?" Carol comments, sitting up in the middle seat.

"There's two of 'em." I say as the passenger door opens and someone gets out.

Daryl leans up a little "is that a cop?"

Carol adjusts herself for a moment and I see her taking her gun out of her waistband "they might've seen us." She says getting it ready. The man starts to walk off, turning the corner where we can't see him. We just wait, wait for them to make a move.

There's a banging on the window next to me and I jump back frightened. A walker bangs on the window, growling at us. I exhale slowly, trying to get my heartbeat calm again. The man comes back from around the corner, tossing a bike onto the ground. As he moves to get back into the car the walker at our window draws his attention. He stares at it, taking a few steps closer. The three of us don't move, and wait for him to get back in. He gets back into the car, and they drive off turning right where he was just clearing. Daryl goes to start the car but it won't turn on "Aw, shit! Tank's tapped." He says giving up. "They'd have taken the bypass and they didn't. They must be holed up in the city somewhere." The walker keeps snarling at our window. We start to see more come out of the shadows, the sound of one drawing out more. "We gotta move, find someplace to hole up till sunlight." He says seeing what I see.

"I know a place just a couple of blocks from here. We can make it." Carol comments. Daryl and I look at each other and nod. I roll down the window and stab the walker in the head with my knife before we head out.
