Aang beckoned Sokka and Katara towards the back lot behind the student union. "Guys, I'd like you to meet Appa!" Aang stood in a Peter Pan pose as he gestured to the little camper beside him.

Sokka and Katara raised their eyebrows in unison. The camper was a big white thing with brown and yellow stripes up and down it. The camper looked old and a little dirty, like it had been stuck in time since the 1970s. It was big and bulky with rounded sides, and to Katara it kind of looked like the Cat bus from My Neighbor Totoro because the front end looked like a little face of an animal.

"Does it run?" Sokka asked worriedly. He circled around the back of the vehicle and looked at the exhaustion pipe with a skeptical eye.

"It sure does," Aang affirmed. He patted the front end and grinned over at Katara. "I found this little buddy in a parking lot all alone and for sale, so I just had to buy him, didn't I," Aang finished, talking to the camper. "My parents helped me buy him," Aang continued; "so I can do and go wherever I want. I think it's perfect for the trip you guys were talking about to visit all of the state parks!"

"You sure, Aang?" Katara asked. She had suggested the research vacation that she and her brother were planning to Aang on a whim. He was in her biology class with her as her lab partner, but she hadn't expected the boy to immediately offer to come with them because he had a small camper. She didn't even know the kid that well.

Sokka still looked skeptical as he came back to his sister, arms crossed. This research vacation was something Katara cooked up to help them get some credits in the summer by helping out at the national parks since both she and her brother were science majors looking for some extra credit and kudos points form Dr. Pakku, but they just had their little car that was technically still their dad's. Aang seemed like an okay kid, and if he was offering his own car up, it didn't seem right to refuse.

Aang beckoned the siblings to come inside the vehicle to look at the interior. "This buddy flies like you've never seen. I jokingly call him my flying bison," Aang explained as he pointed out the folding bed and small little kitchen that was outfitted inside the camper. There were a few cabinets lining the sides of the camper that were light-wood toned. Katara noticed that there wasn't a bathroom and no sink, but that was okay. She wouldn't have to help empty any tanks with human waste in them. She subtly counted the seatbelts in the camper, satisfied with the four seatbelts she could see.

Sokka looked unimpressed. "Flying bison?" he said flatly, one eyebrow raising. "There's no such thing."

"Sure there is!" Aang insisted. "You've just never seen one."

Sokka grumbled as Katara patted him on the shoulder calmingly. Katara looked between Aang and the nice pleather seats that had an orange and red theme. "How old did you say you were again?" Katara asked, looking at the boy up and down.

He didn't look much older than 13.

Aang scratched the back of his head and looked to the left, avoiding Katara's gaze. "I know I look young for my age, but I just turned fif-I mean nineteen." Aang completed his thought with a bright smile. "Definitely old enough to have a license!"

Katara crossed her arms. "Looks like I'm driving," she muttered to herself.

"I thought you were the wiz kid that entered college early at like fifteen," Sokka folded his arms again, trying to look intimidating.

Aang laughed nervously. "Maybe…?" He turned towards Katara again, hoping to divert the conversation. "Hey Katara, what do you think? Don't you think this camper is perfect for the trip?"

Katara hummed, looking up at the two front seats before nodding. She looked back at Sokka. He was frowning at the younger boy, but she could see he had no other issues about the vehicle or the boy except that he was a little young. "Yeah, I think this could work."
