Somewhere in Edge City

It was almost evening as the sun was setting in the sky leaving a trail of golden light in the sky as its last rays touched the earth below. Settling down ready to enjoy the quiet evening was Stanley Ikpiss, a smile was on his face as he sat down in his chair ready to watch some TV and relax.

As he settled down he turned on his right and saw lying in front of him was the Mask. He sat up and walked towards it holding out one hand to pick it up only to find himself pulling back from it.

The Mask had caused some much damage running relationships, causing property damage, and to nearly getting him arrested. There was only one thing to do the mask had to go but who would he entrust it to the other question was could he remove it from his life completely?

Outside of Stanley Ipkiss' Apartment

It was a clear morning in Edge City as Peggy was walking towards Stanley's apartment block. He had wanted to meet her but he hadn't told her the reason.

She didn't think anything of it as she made her way towards the entrance. As she got nearer she could hear something whispering to her in her, a soft and familiar voice yet not so familiar.

"It's time to wear me again darling, come on you know that you want too!" Peggy looked around.

Staring off hoping to find the owner of the voice; she dismissed it and carried on walking inside the block hoping that Stanley would have the answer as to why he had invited her?

She then got up the stairs and made her way to Stanley's apartment she then opened the door and walked through there she found Stanley sitting down shaking a package that was held in both of his hands as he saw her he rose up from the seat gripping the package.

"Here take this Peggy!" He said as he held it out for her to take, Peggy took the parcel.

"Is this what you invited me here for Stanley?!" She snapped.

"For you to give me a parcel?!" Her tone was icy and cold, Stanley looked at her.

"You don't understand Peggy inside that box is the mask!" He said as he got down on both knees.

"I'm giving it to you for safe keeping as I don't think that I can trust myself with it now?!" Peggy looked towards the package that she held in her hands and then back at Stanley her eyes widened in surprise.

"Why Stanley?" She asked puzzled as to why he would give her the mask.

"Why give it to me when you know what happened when I wore it before?!" She said as she put the package down.

"Please, Peggy!" Stanley begged again.

"I'm asking you as I trust that you will not wear it or use it yourself!" Peggy looked at him and smiled faintly.

"Okay Stanley I'll kept the Mask with me," she said as she carefully tucked it inside her jacket pocket.

She then bid Stanley well as the two of them hugged. She then left making her way back to her apartment block the mask was hers and would be safe now with her.

Later – Peggy Brandt's Apartment

Peggy sat down in a chair in her apartment, the blinds to her windows were half closed, and light poured in casting shadows about the place, next to her was the package containing the Mask. Peggy sat looking at it, her eyes glaring at it.

"Why did Stanley trust me with it?" She asked herself as she sat up. She was about to walk and pick up the package when she heard a voice.

"Why don't you wear me darling then you will have everything you have always wanted to have?" Peggy looked around to see if she could see anyone, nothing but thin air.

"Odd!" She thought to herself.

"It's as if that voice is inside my head!" She didn't think anything of it as she walked towards the package, ripping it open and pulling out the Mask. She then held it up, running one of her hands down its wooden surface as she did. She could feel a sense of power overcoming her.

"Why don't you wear me again darling?" She could hear the familiar voice in her head asking her the same question over and over again.

"I can't!" She said out loud.

"As I promised Stanley that I wouldn't!" The voice was silent and the air grew still. Peggy still held the mask in her hands, turning it over and looking underneath.

"I can make you a star and you will become famous darling!" The voice answered back.

Peggy then held the mask again this time temptation overcame her she then grabbed it with both of her hands then held it and pulled it towards her face. The Mask then lacked on melting and then changing color from brown to green as it spread over her face like hot melting wax.

Peggy then let out a scream but nothing came out of her mouth as her body began spinning into a mini twister around and around the room causing nothing but a mess. What seemed to last a lifetime only lasted a few minutes as there in the apartment stood Peggy now wearing the Mask a mirror was held up to her face as she grinned proudly at her reflection.

"A Star is born again darling!" She said as she looked at herself in the mirror admiring her reflection.

"I wonder why Stanley is?!" She said looking around the room as she put the mirror down to one side.

"I wonder if he still loves me the way that I am?" She then looked around and smiled to herself.

"I wonder if he would like to be Masked himself?" She then spun herself into another mini twister as she did a large hole appeared as if out of nowhere, Peggy stopped spinning and looked inside.

"Time to go to the future and find another mask darling!" She said as she walked into the vortex disappearing inside.

Stanley would be pleased to see another mask very soon he would be masked and hers once more.
