It was a chilly night. The lights were off and the pair were illuminated only by the twinkling starlight and pale moonbeams that spilled from the girl's skylight directly above them.

Marinette lay on top of Chat. Her head positioned right above his heart, listening to it beat rhythmically. While the hero had his arms wrapped around her shoulders, occasionally pressing kisses to her hair.

They laid there on her bed in silence, basking in the other's presence. This was the rhythm they've developed over the past couple of months.

Sometimes they don't need to laugh over videogames, or chat while eating pastries from her parents' bakery. Sometimes they just need to feel the comfort and sense of security that the other provides.

It was quite funny actually, they were lovers in every sense of the word. Right down to the heart racing and the butterflies in their stomachs. They held hands, they cuddled, they exchanged cheek kisses. Always maintaining some sort of skinship when they're together.

They were inseparable and in love. Except they didn't label their relationship as such.

They hid their romantic feelings for the other under seven layers of friendly excuses. The fear of rejection weighing heavily on both of their hearts.

"They were best friends," They told themselves."They don't love me the way I love them. It's better this way."

Marinette and Chat Noir sighed simultaneously and then burst into quiet giggles at the action. His laughs jostling the girl sprawled on top of him.

Marinette propped her chin up on his chest so she could look into his green cat eyes, framed by his black mask. Time stopped as they got lost in green forests and drown in blue oceans.

Their gazes were tendered with the love and adoration they held for the other. Lips upturned into loving smiles.

"I think I might be in love with you," He whispered, barely audible.

It wasn't a grand confession. She wasn't even surprised, which was odd. It just felt like...a truth, being said out loud for the first time.

The moment wasn't rivetingly romantic. The moment was soft, and so very warm.

It wasn't a heart stopping declaration of love. It was just two hearts beating in sync.

It wasn't dizzying or electrifying. It just felt right. Like they've been wandering aimlessly through the dark, and now they've finally found their light.

It didn't bring them a whirlwind of overwhelming emotions. It just made them feel contented. Like they've finally made it home after a long day.

It wasn't an exciting fireworks show. It was the warm afternoon sunshine and the calming white moonlight.

It wasn't showstopping. It was them, and that's what made it beautiful.

She rolled off of him and propped herself up on one elbow, her face hovering just above his.

She bent down and pressed their lips together in the lightest of kisses. It was featherlight, it was chaste, it was theirs.

She pulled back, smiling widely, "I think I might be in love with you too."

Author's Note: This is just a really quick fic that popped into my head after I read the prompt, "I think I'm in love with you."

It's a bit different from what I usually write but I thought it was cute.

Anyway, I have a longer (chaptered) fic that I'm working on. I wanna finish writing the whole story before posting so it's more convenient for readers. So, stay tuned for that!
