AscendedHumanity: I mean, yeah. Think about it. He's going to be using almost all of his abilities so like 80 to 90% of everything in that quirk description would be almost impossible for him to hide. Thus logically giving them that much information is the best option available to him because if he didn't then it would look super suspicious once his abilities were finally found out. This way he doesn't have to try to hide anything. Besides he's a biological god, a walking one man apocalypse. So what does he have to worry about? They can't capture him, they can't kill him, they can't do anything to him really and I pretty much guarantee that they would rather have someone with that much power as a hero rather than an anti-hero or a villain. Besides, this is a world where quirks are a thing. It's not surprising that someone with such a powerful quirk would be born eventually. (Also I DESPISE stories where characters pretend to be weaker than they are and try to hide how powerful they truly are. They're just so annoying.)
StrangeDisease: Well, that's an ability he has, yes. However, I don't really think it will be used much in this story since I don't plan on making him a villain. I mean, how would infecting an entire city — literally the city itself, not the population — be of much use to a hero in training? He's not even legally allowed to use his quirk in public yet, let alone infect the city itself.
Guest: I actually wrote these chapters a few years ago so I honestly don't remember what my logic was behind that. Well, regardless thank you for pointing out that mistake. I have since fixed it.
Runnar: Good advice. I've changed the title. Hopefully this one's a bit better. As for researching Japanese culture, don't worry I have. Also, as for using prefixes like: san, chan, kun, sama, or sensei I've already written up to chapter 4 and will be starting chapter 5 today no. I haven't and won't be doing that. Since I'm writing this in English, not Japanese, I will be using English equivalents should there be any just like the English dub of the anime. Watching the anime I have yet to hear someone use Japanese prefixes even once, unless I just haven't been paying close enough attention. Yes, I know Alex doesn't need to weaken someone to consume them. Thus how he can stealthily consume Black Watch soldiers to sneak into Black Watch bases without being noticed. However he typically does kill them before consuming them, likely just to put them out of their misery as being consumed probably hurts a lot.
Runnar: I realize. Alex did include those they just aren't what he was looking at when he read the documents again. He also forged records for his "grand parents" just to be safe in case someone decided to investigate that far back. Elizabeth's parents moved to Japan from New York but had Elizabeth in Japan. Elizabeth then had Alex while going to college in Kyoto and just decided to give him an English name to match his English last name. That's the backstory Alex came up with. I did not, however, realize that the Japanese structured their names with their last name first and their first names last. I went back and changed the medical records to reflect this. I suppose I need to study Japanese culture a bit more to avoid such mistakes in the future. My apologies.
To everyone else: I'm glad you're all enjoying the story so far and I sincerely hope you continue to enjoy it going forwards! I'm sorry if I don't respond to you individually. I do make absolutely certain to read all of your messages as soon as possible, it's just that I don't always have anything to say in response to some messages and thus have to skip them while writing these replies. So please don't feel like I'm ignoring any of you, because I'm definitely not! Anyways, onto the story!
Alex looked up at the building ahead of him as he approached the main entrance gate of U.A. High School. To be perfectly honest, he'd seen more impressive buildings in Manhattan back in his original world. However, he supposed this place was meant to be a school so it really didn't need to be the size of a skyscraper. Besides, in terms of schools it was indeed one of the nicest looking ones he had ever seen even in the memories of all the people he had ever consumed. Security was a bit heavy, but that was to be expected since this was a hero school and it was by far the most famous in the country meaning it was a prime target for terrorist attacks.
As he walked he accidentally bumped into someone. "Hey! Watch where you're going, loser!" The person shouted, grabbing Alex by the shirt of his uniform in a manner that was clearly supposed to be threatening. And it was an actual shirt this time and not just part of Alex's body like his clothes usually were since he wasn't sure how strict the school was in regards to things like that and he really didn't want to risk it.
Looking Alex saw it was just some blond punk with spiky blond hair and red eyes and a massive attitude problem. Grabbing his wrist and squeezing, not enough to break any bones or even so much as leave a bruise but more than enough to hurt, Alex growled, "Ooh, look who's talking, it's the king of losers himself! Yeah I may have accidentally bumped into you, sorry." He wasn't sorry in the least, especially with the way this guy was acting. "If that really upsets you so much then you have two options. One, you grow the fuck up and get over it like a normal human being, or two, you go cry about it to someone else because I honestly couldn't care less you whiny little bitch. Now let go of my shirt and get the fuck out of my way. Unless, of course, you really want to risk starting a fight which would obviously end up ruining both of our chances of ever getting into U.A. before we could even take the entrance exams."
The blond kid's face went red from pure rage. Alex could tell the bastard wanted to start a fight so bad it hurt, but, to his credit, he managed to restrain himself, if only barely. Yanking his arm out of Alex's painfully tight grip, the blond turned and began marching towards the building in a rage.
Alex just rolled his eyes and continued towards the school himself. Hopefully that would be the only time he ever had to deal with that douche during his next three years here at U.A. He doubted a fucker like that would be allowed in the hero courses and he doubted even more that they would end up in the same class even if that dumbass did somehow manage to get into the hero courses. Regardless, he wouldn't dwell on it. That punk wasn't worth his time and he had more important shit to worry about, such as the entrance exams.
{Later}
Alex had finished the written exam and he was absolutely certain he hadn't gotten a single answer wrong. He hadn't cheated — though he very easily could have if he really wanted to and no one would have ever been able to prove anything — but he had spent some time studying for the written exam over the summer and he was a lot smarter and had a far better memory than a normal human. So he was absolutely certain he had answered everything correctly.
Now he was sitting in an assigned seat in the middle of some auditorium for the orientation of the practical exam. The room was filled with hundreds of people, all of whom were aspiring heroes. Normally Alex would have had some biomass constructs going around collecting D.N.A. samples from each and every last one of them for him, however a couple of days ago he had received a letter in the mail from U.A. telling him that he wasn't allowed to collect anyone's D.N.A. to copy their quirk unless he had the owner of the quirk's express consent first and they were fully cognizant of the fact that he was going to have it permanently beforehand. This apparently went double for the teachers and staff. While he found this rule unbelievably frustrating, it did make some sense as a quirk was part of a person's identity as a Pro Hero thus copying their quirk would be like copying a part of their identity.
Suddenly all the lights in the room turned off, a projector displaying the school's logo activated, and a row of lights turned on and illuminated the stage. "WHAT'S UP, U.A. CANDIDATES?! THANKS FOR TUNING INTO ME, YOUR SCHOOL DJ! EVERYBODY SAY HEEEEY!" The Pro Hero Present Mic shouted from on the stage below. He then held a hand up to his ear as though he were listening for something. The entire room was as silent as a morgue.
After a second or two of awkward silence Present Mic lowered his hand and said, "Keeping it mellow, huh? That's fine, I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam's gonna go down, okay? ARE YOU READY?!"
Once again, the room was as silent as a morgue. In fact, there were livelier morgues. "YEAH!" Present Mic declared in spite of this.
Alex heard some green haired fanboy who was sitting nearby muttering to himself about Present Mic. "Shut it!" growled the blond haired douche that Alex recognized from earlier who was sitting next to the fanboy. Alex immediately felt sorry for the fanboy. No one should have to sit next to a piece of shit like that for any length of time.
"Now pay close attention, listeners! WE'LL BE TESTING YOUR METTLE BY CONDUCTING A TEN MINUTE PRACTICE RUN AT OUR REPLICA CITY DISTRICT!" Present Mic shouted, continuing on as if he were speaking to his usual audience and not an auditorium filled with hundreds of aspiring Pro Heros. "You can take whatever you like! After the presentation everybody gather at your specified battle centers, ya dig?"
This was quite possibly the most stubbornly silent room of high school students either Alex or any of the thousands of people he had consumed had ever seen. Alex knew he was both well over a hundred years in the future and in an alternate version of Earth, but seriously what the hell was wrong with this generation? "OK?!" Present Mic shouted, trying his best to get absolutely any sort of response he possibly could. Alex almost felt as sorry for the Pro Hero on the stage as he did for the green haired kid sitting next to the overly aggressive blond douche.
Shaking his head Alex picked up the Exam Ticket laying in front of him and looked at it. He would be fighting in Battle Center C. Good to know.
"Okay, okay! Let's check out your targets. There are three types of Faux Villains in every battle center! You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty so you better choose wisely! Your goal in this trial is to raise your score by shredding these Faux Villains like a mid song guitar solo! But check it! Attacking other examinees is a big U.A. no no, ya dig?" Present Mic explained, his enthusiasm not having been affected by the crowd's overall lack of excitement.
Suddenly one of the other examinees stood up and raised a hand. "Excuse me, may I ask a question!?" He demanded angrily.
Alex sighed in irritation and rested his face in the palm of his hand. He could already tell this guy didn't have just a stick up his ass, he had a full on tree growing up there. Alex absolutely hated people like this guy…
"On the print out, there are clearly four types of villains listed, not three! With all due respect, if this is an error on official U.A. materials, it is shameful! We are exemplary students! We expect the best from Japan's most notable school! A mistake such as this won't do!" Turning and pointing at the kid with the green hair the pompous asshole continued, "Additionally, you with the unkempt hair! You've been muttering this entire time, stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, leave! You're distracting the rest of us!"
At this point the hypocrisy and arrogance the douche with the glasses was exuding was too much for Alex to not call him out on it. Standing up Alex gave the glasses douche a death glare that would scare even an experienced Pro Hero and said, "Look who's talking, you arrogant prick! If you'd have just shut up and listened, Present Mic would have probably got to that eventually, and if not, oh well who cares? I can assure you, you are the only one in this entire room who gets his panties in a twist over a typo! But nooo… you just had to stand up in front of hundreds of people and make a complete ass of yourself! The rest of us here are mature enough to just ignore the green haired kid and his muttering, so right now you and I are the only two people here that are distracting anyone! And I wouldn't have said shit in the first place if you hadn't been such a stuck up, self righteous, hypocrite! So all of this is entirely on you, buddy!"
The guy with the glasses stared at Alex in a mixture of shock and slowly dawning horror as he realized what Alex was saying was true. He then looked down at the floor in shame, his face starting to flush with embarrassment and humiliation.
"Alright, settle down you two." Present Mic said, trying to calm things down before they could escalate any further. "Now, examine number 7111, thanks for calling in with your request! The fourth villain type is worth zero points! That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way! There's one in every battle center! Think of it like a hurtle you should try to avoid! It's not that it can't be beaten, but there's kinda no point! I recommend my listeners ignore it and focus on the ones topping the charts!"
The guy with the glasses bowed and said, "Thank you very much, please continue. I sincerely apologize for my rude interruption." He then sat back down. Alex, on the other hand, had already been sitting down ever since Present Mic started speaking again.
"That's all I got for you today! I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto! As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down, 'A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes.' Mhm, now that's a tasty sound bite! You ready to go beyond?! LET'S HEAR A PLUS ULTRA!"
'Holy shit, what the hell is wrong with these kids? Are these really teenagers? Why the hell are they so damn quiet?! Present Mic is making this exam orientation damn near a pep rally and these kids are as silent as a bunch of fucking corpses! Are they all on drugs? Are they all being brainwashed?! Were they all replaced with goddamn robots while I wasn't looking?! What in the ever loving fuck is wrong with them?!' Alex thought to himself thoroughly creeped out as yet again the room remained completely overwhelmingly silent in response to Present Mic.
"Good luck! I hope you've practiced hitting more than just books!" Present Mic declared, this eerie silence apparently not having affected him in the slightest.
{Later}
Alex stepped off the bus that brought him to his battle center along with the rest of the examinees. Looking up at the massive wall and gate surrounding the faux city district Alex gave an impressed whistle. Unless those buildings were all made of plastic or cardboard, which he sincerely doubted, U.A. apparently had no lack of budget. Hell, they probably had more funding than both Blackwatch and Gentek combined and that was saying something considering one was a top secret government organization and the other was a major corporation! Judging by what the other examinees were saying, they all shared similar sentiments.
Honestly though, he was just happy to be out of that irritating uniform and back in his normal "clothes". He liked this outfit so much better. Not only because he was used to wearing it since it was what he defaulted to every day since he woke up on the operating table in that morgue, but because he actually really enjoyed the way it looked even with the hood down, as it was right now. Plus, unlike normal clothes, he didn't have to worry about destroying it whenever he morphed into a different form, which was definitely a plus! Though, admittedly, that applied to all clothes he made via his biomass.
"RIGHT! LET'S START!" Present Mic's voice boomed from on top of a nearby concrete building. As soon as he said this, the gates started opening. As such Alex immediately jumped over the rest of the examinees and started bolting towards the battle center at his maximum possible speed, causing a sonic boom. It was exactly double what his max speed was back in his original world, and it was mainly thanks to his new quirk enhanced super strength allowing him to run without his own biomass weighing him down nearly as much as it used to.
"EXAMINEE NUMBER 8661 HAS THE RIGHT IDEA! THE REST OF YOU GET MOVING! THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES! RUN, RUN, RUN LISTENERS! YOU'RE WASTING AIRTIME HERE!" Present Mic exclaimed. This prompted the rest of the examinees in Alex's group, who had all been caught completely off guard by the sudden start, to start running after him towards the battle center.
Alex arrived first due to his head start and superspeed. As soon as he passed through the entrance gate he split into six separate bodies, two of each containing varying amounts of biomass.
The two with the most biomass morphed into his armored form, morphed their right arms into their blade form — the metallic parts of which they heated up until the blades were glowing white hot —, and morphed their left arms into their muscle mass form. They then began sprinting through the faux city district in different directions, sprinting along the walls of buildings, jumping completely over others, and dashing through the air as they began hunting down Faux Villains to crush.
The two with the least amount of biomass sprouted huge pitch black bat-like wings from their backs and took off, flying above two separate halves of the battle center where they searched for Faux Villains from above, alternating between both their standard vision and thermal vision. They were only intended for searching, thus the reason they hadn't morphed their limbs into weapons. Though they very much could fight and to great effect at that if they had any reason to do so.
The two with middling amounts of biomass morphed their right arms into claws and their left arms into whipfists — the metallic blades on both of which they began to heat up until they were all glowing while hot — before sprinting off in two more separate directions much like the bodies with the most biomass had. The only major difference in their method of traversing the battle center being that the bodies with middling biomass were actually able to glide through the air as they weren't in their armored forms thus granting them far greater speed and mobility then the bodies with the most biomass.
It only took a couple seconds for him to start running into Faux Villains. The armored body in the left half of the battle center spotted a three pointer, a two pointer, and several one pointers. The three pointer managed to hit Alex with a concussive rocket, which didn't even so much as slow him down, before Alex launched himself through the air towards it. His superheated mono-molecular blade arm cut through the Faux Villain with ease. When the three pointer was destroyed Alex pounced towards the two pointer and grabbed it with his muscle mass arm, the strength of which was being drastically enhanced by his super strength quirk. He then threw it as hard as he possibly could at the group of one pointers, destroying both the two pointer and four of the one pointers. Springing towards the remaining one pointers Alex immediately began smashing, slicing, stabbing, throwing, and generally obliterating them with contemptuous speed and ease. The armored body in the right half of the battle center encountered a small group of two pointers and began shredding through them in a very similar manner.
The unarmored body in the left half of the battle center was hit by several concussive rockets launched by four separate three pointers. Spearing one with his whipfist, he used that to pull himself closer at ultra high speeds. His sheer weight and momentum was enough to smash the one he speared with his whipfist to bits. He then sent himself rocketing towards another which he ripped apart with his superheated monomolecular claw. The last two were relatively close together so he simply slashed them both to bits simultaneously with his whipfist. The unarmored body in the right half of the battle center was surrounded by a dozen or so one pointers, thus he decided to jump up into the air to get the maximum range he possibly could and used his Tendril Barrage devastator. The one pointers were all completely destroyed in an instant, though Alex had to make a conscious concerted effort to ensure the devastator didn't accidentally hit any of the other examinees as it would have inevitably killed them if it had.
"Hey! Leave some for the rest of us would ya?!" One of the other examinees shouted at one of Alex's bodies in frustration.
Alex just smirked at them and said, "Don't know if you've noticed, but this is a competition! If you can't keep up then it sucks to be you!" He then jumped off across the battle center in search of more Faux Villains to crush.
The winged body flying over the left side of the battle center spotted another group of enemies near the armored body in that half of the battle center. Thus that armored body immediately started sprinting towards the group he spotted.
The other winged body who was flying above the right side of the city saw a nearby examinee with a broken leg about to have an entire building collapse on top of them. As such, with an annoyed sigh Alex had that body land next to them, carefully pick them up, and rocket away at high speeds before the building could collapse. Landing on an empty street Alex gently set them down and asked, "You okay?"
"Y-yeah… My leg's pretty messed up, but at least I'm not being crushed by a building right now. Thanks for saving me back there, I really owe you one." They responded, clearly in pain.
"I could fix that leg for you if you would like. It would only take a second or two. Though I do have to warn you, while it won't exactly hurt and it won't last any more than a couple seconds, it will be fairly unpleasant." Alex offered.
The injured examinee gave him an incredulous look. "You have a healing quirk too?! Seriously, how many quirks do you freaking have?!"
Alex shrugged and said, "One extremely versatile one and a few other much less versatile ones that I only managed to get because of the first one. So is that a yes or a no? We're on a timer here."
"S-sure, I guess. If this means I'll have another opportunity to earn more points before time runs out I'll take it!" The injured examinee eagerly agreed.
"Alright, then I highly recommend you brace yourself and grit your teeth because this is gonna suck." Alex warned as he kneeled down next to them, rolled up the leg of their pants slightly, and grabbed their ankle. Suddenly his hand erupted in a swirl of tendrils as he used his biomass which he converted into healthy human cells to not just repair but completely replace the broken bone. The examinee cried out in shock as it happened but the entire process only took about a second and a half as Alex had said it would.
When it was over Alex let go of their ankle and stood back up. "There you go, good as new."
The examinee pushed themself to their feet and tested their previously injured leg. "Hey, it doesn't hurt at all anymore! Thanks!"
Alex simply nodded at them before turning, walking a short distance away, and launching himself back into the air.
During this entire process Alex had continued racking up points by annihilating Faux Villains elsewhere in the city. He also had his other winged body shift from just searching for more Faux Villains, to also searching for anyone who was hurt or in danger. Now with both of his winged bodies searching the battle center for anyone who needed help, Alex managed to save and/or heal several more people. He was already racking up so many points that he had lost count of how many he had, so he decided he might as well try to help others since he already knew he was going to pass the exam. Besides, he was trying to become a Pro Hero so he just thought that saving and helping other examinees who were in danger or hurt would be a good step in the right direction.
{Dark Observation Room}
"Clearly the students have no idea how many villains are present or their locations. They have limited time, must cover a vast area, and must hunt down every last target." Principal Nezu explained, as he and the other staff members watched the screens displaying a live video feed of the students. "Some use information gathering abilities to plan out strategies while others rely on speed to pull ahead of their peers. Of course, remaining calm under pressure can be a huge advantage, as can pure power and combat ability! The most successful students use a combination of all these tactics. They're the ones who rack up the highest scores."
"Hmm… I'd say this year's group looks promising! Especially examinee number 8661. What was his name again? It was… Mercer, right? The one with the "Bioweapon" quirk." Nemuri Kayama, the Pro Hero Midnight, stated as she watched the screen displaying one of Alex's armored bodies mauling a group of Faux Villains. "How could someone like him not have already gotten in through a recommendation by a Pro Hero? He's certainly got more than enough power and raw talent to have earned one!"
"Apparently Alexander Mercer was homeschooled as his mother was worried his quirk would scare other children and even his teachers. Sadly, that is not an entirely unfounded assessment considering his quirk does indeed sound rather frightening. Unfortunately, that means he never really had the opportunity to meet any Pro Heros for them to be able to recommend him in the first place. However, in this case I personally believe that is actually a good thing as this gives us a prime opportunity to assess his abilities and see what he's truly capable of before classes start. So far, it would appear his quirk description was not exaggerating in the least." Principle Nezu explained, shifting his gaze to the same screen Midnight was looking at which was still displaying one of Alex's armored bodies.
"Then it's a good thing he decided to join U.A. and become a Pro Hero rather than a villain. Anyways, there's still plenty of time before it's over. The real test is yet to come. Let's see how they react." Said another of the teachers as he pressed a big red button.
{Battle Center C}
Suddenly the ground began to shake and explosions of dust began occurring all across the battle center as something absolutely massive rapidly rose up out of the ground. Alex immediately recognized it as the zero pointer. Smiling viciously to himself, Alex had all six of his bodies converge near the zero pointer and meld back together, except for the two winged bodies which he actually created an extra two of and had all four now flying around trying to find people in order to get them a safe distance away. Alex knew there was no real point in fighting this thing, but he had destroyed so many of the other Faux Villains that he was getting bored of breaking them. This thing, on the other hand, was new and it looked like it could actually put up somewhat of a fight!
Alex activated the quirk he got from Mount Lady, growing until he was roughly equal height with the zero pointer. He then proceeded to morph himself into a form he had been wanting an excuse to try out for a while now. It vaguely resembled his standard armored form, except with a few key differences. First were the eight glowing blood red bioluminescent eyes on either side of his face, and the glowing orange and red bioluminescent splotches that started appearing in random spots all over the rest of his body. Second was the massive mouth filled with rows of huge razor sharp metallic teeth, all of which were glowing white hot. Third was the eight extra arms which were each morphed into one of his usual arm weapons, all the metallic bits of which were also glowing white hot. Fourth was the massive spiked and bladed tentacles that were now sticking out of his back, which were thrashing in eager anticipation of ripping apart this new enemy.
The heat around all of the glowing hot metallic bits of Alex's new form was so immense that the air itself seemed to be boiling around them. Alex let out a deep, booming, monstrous chuckle that rattled several buildings around him before he loosed an absolutely nightmarish sound that was something like the unholy combination of a roar, gurgle, hiss, and the screams of the damned at the zero pointer which was so loud and had so much force behind it that it caused the very ground to shake and several nearby buildings to completely collapse. In his monstrous new form Alex flung himself at the zero pointer, leaving a crater in the area that he jumped from, and began absolutely shredding the giant robot in a near rabid flurry of attacks that were utterly impossible to block, dodge, or otherwise react to.
Unfortunately the zero pointer didn't put up nearly as much of a fight as Alex had hoped as he essentially destroyed it with just the first punch from one of his muscle mass arms enhanced with a super strength quirk. Still, he continued attacking it for a couple more seconds and completely reduced it to little more than a massive pile of scrap metal and molten slag. Now extremely disappointed, Alex got up off the partially melted mountain of scrap metal and allowed his metallic bits to cool back down. With a huff of immense disappointment, Alex decided at this point he may as well just end the exam here and now.
After taking a moment to prepare himself, he unleashed a highly modified version of his tendril barrage devastator while still in his giant form. Thousands upon thousands of tendrils shot out of Alex's monstrous body all across the battle center and in a matter of seconds destroyed every last Faux Villain that still remained, of which there were a surprisingly large number of. These tendrils did, however, completely avoid any and all of the other examinees all together and didn't put any of them into any potentially dangerous or life threatening situations as Alex did not wish to be convicted of unintentionally committing a mass murder of school students and aspiring heroes.
Morphing back into his base form, Alex began shrinking back down to his normal size. Stuffing his hands into his pockets he began walking towards the exit gate. Other examinees had their phones out and had apparently been recording the entire thing, not that it had lasted very long. Though, Alex did notice how they would try to back away from him as he walked past them and the fear and apprehension on their faces. It was nothing that he wasn't used to.
"Uh… Ehm… A-AND THAT'S IT! TIME'S UP!" Present Mic's highly unsettled voice declared after a few minutes of dead silence, signaling the end of the practical exam.
{Dark Observation Room}
The room was dead silent as the teachers and staff processed just what the hell they just witnessed in Battle Center C. All of their excitement at Midoriya's heroic sacrifice to defeat the zero pointer in Battle Center A having been completely overshadowed by the shock and horror of seeing the Lovecraftian nightmare Alexander Mercer had turned himself into before shredding the zero pointer as if he were some sort of massive demonic blender and destroying all the remaining Faux Villains in the battle center in a veritable explosion of tendrils. Apparently all without having even so much as scratched any of the other students as the screens quickly began flashing between all the other examinees in Battle Center C and showed that they were all perfectly alive and unharmed.
"Sooo… uh… Does this mean that All Might's record has officially been broken?" One of the teachers asked in an attempt to ease the tension with a bit of humor.
{One Week Later}
Alex was currently sitting on the main couch in the living room of his apartment. He had finally received a letter in the mail from U.A. containing his test results. Morphing one of his fingers into a claw, Alex sliced open the envelope. Morphing his claw back into a normal finger he reached into the envelope, pulled out a small hologram emitter, and set it on the coffee table before turning it on.
A square holographic screen appeared above the projector, and on said screen all three of them were shocked to see All Might himself. "Greetings Alexander Mercer! It is I All Might! Number 1 Pro Hero and the newest teacher at U.A., here to give you your exam results! On the written test you got one hundred percent! On the practical exam you earned a grand total of 525 combat points, completely crushing my previous long standing record of 387 combat points by an absolute landslide! To say that is impressive is a massive understatement, my boy! But that's not all! You see, the practical exam was not graded on combat alone!"
This actually caught Alex completely off guard and he started getting very nervous. He had no idea he was going to be graded on anything but combat! What if he fucked up somehow and ended up getting himself disqualified regardless of his combat score?! Shishitshit! God fucking damn it! Why the fuck hadn't this been in the fucking orientation! AAARG! Alex clenched his fists and was on the verge of breaking something but barely managed to restrain himself as All Might continued speaking.
"There was also a hidden system of Rescue Points! After all, that's what being a hero is all about! Rescuing those in need! A panel of judges watches and they award points for heroic acts beyond just fighting villains! Alexander Mercer, you earned a total of 80 rescue points! Congratulations, you have passed the exam! Welcome, Alexander Mercer, to your hero academia! I, for one, can not wait to see what all you will accomplish!" And with that, the hologram projector shut itself off.
End Notes: Just out of curiosity, who do you think Alex should face in the indoor battles in Chapter 5? I'm thinking Shoji and Todoroki since I think Todoroki would put up the best fight against him even indoors. However, I'm also considering waiting on letting him fight Todoroki until the U.A. Sports Festival just for a bit of added dramatic flair. Bakugo is going to be fighting Midoriya in chapter 4 as he does in cannon, though with a bit of an added change at the end. You'll see what I mean tomorrow in the next chapter. I just thought I'd ask for your input about what you think might be interesting before I finished writing chapter 5.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter as much as if not more than I enjoyed writing it! Constructive criticism is always welcome! I can't improve if I don't know what I'm doing wrong after all.
Stay safe out there everyone!
Edit: Just finished the fight between Alex and Todoroki. It's a bit too late to suggest any other match ups for the indoor battles now.
