Hey everyone! The wait was much longer than anticipated but chapter 11 is finally here! I hope you all enjoy & please review :)
Since the night she told Sesshomaru that she was ready for a baby, they had been at it non-stop. There was no way she couldn't have been pregnant with how often they mate. Rin sighed as she sunk deeper into her bathtub filled with oils and flower petals. A self-care regimen she began when she realized just how stressful it was being the Lady of the Western Lands. As she breathed in the steam from her bath, she began to wonder how long it's been since her last period. She definitely didn't remember whether or not she recorded it in her period chart, but considering that it was getting close to the end of the month she expected it to come soon. Unless she was pregnant of course. She prayed that she was. The anticipation of waiting for her next period to arrive was practically killing her. Not wanting to take a test too early and be disappointed, she decided to wait until the beginning of the next month to take the test. That should be more than enough time for a baby to start brewing.
After a few more moments of letting her mind drift, Rin stepped out of the tub and began to dry herself off. Today had been one for the books. She had dedicated the day to herself entirely. Her morning started with her usual routine, brushing her teeth, a nice hot shower, and her face regimen. Then she enjoyed a breakfast buffet which included all of her favorite breakfast foods. After that, she finished reading a few books, got her nails done, steamed her yoni, got a full body wax, and finally a flower petal bath.
KnockKnock
"Lady Rin, Lord Sesshomaru has returned from his meeting."
"Okay thank you, Suzuki." Rin tried to remember all the servant's names and make them feel like they are more than just servants. It's not like she grew up in this kind of environment so having servants was something that she had to get used to. Seeing them as a family, instead of simple servants, did make it much better. She could tell they preferred it that way too.
She began to skip down the hall as she normally did when she went to greet her husband. Suddenly she stopped and slowly raised her hand to her stomach. Funny, she wasn't feeling like this a few moments ago. Without even giving it another thought, she raced to the nearest bathroom throwing up most, if not all, of the food she had eaten today. She could hear Suzuki right outside the door asking if she was alright and then ordering another servant to fetch her some water before coming into the bathroom and holding her hair back doing her best to soothe Rin.
Not too long after, the other servant returned along with Sesshomaru. He took over holding Rin's hair back and rubbing her back while comforting her with sweet and loving words. Soon she was sitting back catching her breath and wiping away any residue from her lips with the towel that was brought for her. Sesshomaru urged her to drink some water, although a part of him felt that water alone wouldn't fix this.
"Rin, isn't your cycle suppose to be starting sometime this week?"
She could only nod her head 'yes'. He pulled out his phone and began swiping through until he found the app he was looking for.
"Hn, yes according to your chart it was supposed to start on Tuesday. It is now Friday my mate. It may be time to get a test wouldn't you agree?"
Rin could only nod. She had hoped that once she got it all out that she would start to feel better, but that time had not yet come. Luckily, Sesshomaru had already decided to carry her back to their bedroom and she was happy he did. Who knows how long she would have stayed on the floor if he hadn't. As he laid her down he ordered the maid who had brought up water and fruit for Rin to run to the store and buy at least three pregnancy tests. Turning his attention back to Rin. he handed her the glass of water and rubbed her back as she drank.
"You should rest until the maid returns with the tests."
Not feeling the need to put up much of a fight, she drifted to sleep.
Darkness. Nothing but darkness.
That was all Rin could see. The ground beneath her was nothing but water, yet her feet weren't submerged. It was as if she was walking on water! Looking around her she hoped she was not truly alone in such a strange place. She closed her eyes and began counting hoping to wake up from the dream, but of course, it changed nothing. Opening her eyes she screamed at the sight, rather the person, that stood before her. IT WAS HER! Rin was staring at her own reflection, but only she was pregnant! She looked so...happy. She was looking at more than just her reflection. It was like having an entire other human being standing right in front of her.
"Hello.."
She received no response. Thinking that maybe she was only seeing an illusion, Rin moved to touch what she believed was possibly just her reflection in some 3-D kind of way. But as she got closer, the happy expression began to disappear from her face and was soon replaced with anguish and pain. Rin was frozen in fear. Her face changed again, still alive, but you could see she was very dead on the inside.
'I have to wake up! I don't want to see any more!'
Rin tried to run away, only to have her legs fail her. She couldn't move any part of her body. Was it the fear she was feeling? There's no way! It's just a dream. It's all just a dream… Right? It was hard to be sure at this point. Everything she felt, didn't feel like a dream. It felt like she was completely awake. Another wave of fear rushed over her body. This wasn't like before though. No, this was something much darker. Her attention was quickly brought back to her other-self. The dark feeling only got worse as she continued looking. What was once nothing but a blank stare, was now a sinister glare. Her other-self was now covered in head to toe in blood. She no longer recognized the woman in front of her.
'Could this really be me?'
Looking down at Other Rins still very pregnant belly, a plethora of questions and theories came to her head as she attempted to interpret what it all meant. Is something going to happen to the baby? To her? What's with all the blood and that evil look?
Breaking away from her neverending thoughts, she noticed that Other Rin was a lot closer. Like inches away closer. The sinister glare never leaving her face as she stabbed her hands through Rin's heart and stomach.
Rin shot up out of bed panting and placing her hands over her heart and then over her belly. The areas tingled with an unusual numbness. That felt too real to be just a dream. The fact that she can feel something in the areas that the Other Rin pierced her made it very clear to her that it was more than just a dream. The images of Other Rin's constantly changing face and her essentially killing her self, played in her head on repeat. A vision maybe. Maybe some mystical force was trying to tell her that having this baby is a bad idea after all. No, that's ridiculous. Is it though? Things like that happen to people all the time. Of course, she never thought she would be one of those people. She should probably, no she should definitely tell someone about it. Sesshomaru was out of the question. He would have an aneurysm and she was pretty sure that even youkai can't ever recover from that. Just about everyone she considered telling would freak out on an insane level.
Rin jumped when she heard the bedroom door opening. Sighing in relief upon realizing it was Sesshomaru. He seemed to be carrying a small black bag with him. Those had to be the pregnancy test. Her stomach turned in the most uncomfortable way and her heart began to race. She was NOT ready for this! Not after seeing the bizarre things she did in her dream. Sesshomaru kneeled in front of her grasping her hands in his own, letting them rest on her lap.
"Rin I can tell that you are scared. What is causing you to fear? Whatever it is, I will be sure to ease you and protect you."
'But what if you can't protect me this time?'
Rin cleared her throat, took a breath, and smiled sweetly at her loving mate. "I just have pregnancy jitters that's all. I guess they're pretty normal for any woman who's anxious to start a family. I want to be the best mother possible to all of our pups that I can be."
"All of them?" he gave her a playful grin and tickled her sides. She laughed as she tried to stop his quick hands.
"Yes, all of them. I hope you weren't expecting to stop at just one."
Sesshomaru gently cupped her face in his hands and kissed her from the top of her head to her plump pink lips.
"My Rin. You will be more than just the best. You've always gone the extra mile for the ones you love. Even for those who you don't know. I know that you are the perfect mother for our pups."
Rin blinked away the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. He was right. There was no point in doubt herself now all because of a silly dream. Everything will be fine. Her pups will be well taken care of and protected no matter what. It was just a silly dream anyways.
'Just a silly dream. Just a silly dream.'
She picked up the small plastic bag taking out one of the boxes and fiddling with the plastic that was wrapped around it. As she made her way to the bathroom, that familiar dark feeling began to return. Brushing the feeling away was all she was able to do. She quickly took all of the test and set them on the counter after washing her hands. She wrapped her arms around her body, squeezing her arms slightly to attempt to ease her tense body. Things couldn't possibly go as bad as her dream made it seem. It scared her that it was even a possibility, but maybe she should just take heed to Sesshomaru's words. She will be the best mother and her children will be protected. She lifted her head and stared deep into her own eyes daring the other Rin to make an appearance so she could tell her who is in control here. She wasn't going to let some dream scare her into a frenzy.
There was a gently knock at the door and she could hear her name being called. She knows Sesshomaru was freaking out more than he was letting on. Typical ice king. He was always amazingly skilled at keeping his emotions under wraps in any situation. Him being royalty though and constantly having to deal with the press, what could she expect?
"You can come in baby."
It wasn't long before he had his arms wrapped around her doing his best to give her as much comfort as she needed. They sat in silence as they waited for what seemed like forever for the test results to finally show.
"Why don't we sit until your results show mate? I can feel you shaking."
Rin nodded. She didn't even realize that her body was shaking. Her thoughts were taking over and fighting one another. She wanted to stay positive, but the dream felt more than just real. So real in fact that she would barely even call it a dream. As they walked to their bed, her eyes trailed to their large full body mirror for a moment before focusing back on the bed. Looking at her reflection shook her up a bit. She was grateful Sesshomaru came to the door when he did. Why couldn't she rid herself of that strange ominous feeling? It was nothing more than a dream.
'Nothing more than a dream. Nothing more than a dream.'
After a few encouraging words from Sesshomaru and chanting in her head a few more times, she went to the bathroom. A wave of new emotions hit her like a brick. Each test came out positive. Wasn't this what she wanted though? She should feel completely overjoyed, but she only feels partially ecstatic about the news. Still unsure if she should even begin to tell Sesshomaru about her vision dream, she brought the test out to him. He seemed confused though. He expected a different reaction from her. He figured it must have something to do with her not feeling adequate enough for the job. As he took the test from her hands and saw that the results were positive, he couldn't help the way his heart flipped with joy. He scooped Rin into his arms showering her with affection. Reassuring her that nothing would go wrong and that there was nothing to worry about in the first place.
Rin had to admit, Sesshomaru was her greatest support system. Most of the time, she doesn't even have to mention that something is wrong because he can already tell automatically. Even if he doesn't know exactly what's wrong, he still finds a way to be encouraging and strong for both of them. She really couldn't have asked for a more perfect husband and mate than him. He's always made her feel safe and loved. With him, she knows that she can accomplish anything and dominate any obstacle.
Sesshomaru now held her in his arms as they still stood in the bathroom. As Rin opened her eyes, she noticed she was facing the mirror once again. The moment she dared to come after she first took the test had finally come. To her disappointment, the horrific face of the Other Rin had finally made an appearance confirming what Rin had struggled so hard to be in denial of. It was more than just a dream. And if she had to guess, it definitely had something to do with her future and the future of her husband as well as their pups. Whatever it is, she will be prepared. Nothing will come in between her and her children. She will protect them no matter what the cost.
