CHAPTER 3: Egg Project

As Hiccup went to the rest of his classes, he started to think about that name on his arm. Astrid Hofferson. The Valkyrie. He still couldn't get it out of his head. That one name. Whenever he said or even taught about that name he felt a pull. It was such a weird feeling. He just wanted to be closer to her… NO. He couldn't think like that. Astrid hated him. Or did she hate him because she knew and was disgusted. Disgusted at the fact that she was soulmates with a fishbone. A completely useless fishbone. Over the years he grew taller but most of his dorkiness and sarcastic attitude stayed. He grew taller but never filled out so he was still pretty skinny. He cast a quick glance at Astrid and realized that she knew. She's probably known this whole time. He decided for his own good, he should stay away. Astrid could do the project on her own right? The bell rang snapping him out of his thoughts and he bolted for the door.

ASTRID POV

Astrid was having troubles concentrating in class. She couldn't help herself. She removed her bandana and looked at her runes. Her runes were glowing again. They were bugging her and it only seemed worse the more she ignored it. She looked at the name on her arm. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock. It seemed to be reminding her of the person who she should truly be with. The more she looked at it the more she could imagine him. A lean kid with auburn hair, freckles and those forest green... NO. She shouldn't be thinking about him. She had a boyfriend now. She shouldn't be worried about what a messy mop of auburn hair but as the bell rang, Astrid found herself tracking a kid with messy auburn hair as he hurried out the door. Noticing that Hiccup was the first out of the class, she turned to Heather whilst tying back on her bandana hoping that Heather didn't notice.

"Well there goes my chance to see what my partner wanted to do on the project."

"Astrid. You gotta chill out. He probably had to do something." Heather responded, not sounding so sure herself.

"Yeah. Maybe. But what should I do? Go to his house or something to ask him?" Astrid questioned Heather hoping her friend said no.

"Yes. It's not like he's your soulmate or something." Heather joked.

"Yeah. What harm could it do?" Astrid asked nervously.

Oh shit. She was freaking out. What was she supposed to do? She had to go to the Haddock household just for a stupid project filled out and out of all people, it was her soulmate's house cause her soulmate was her partner and this day couldn't get any worse, could it?

HICCUP POV

Hey Hiccup.

What's up Fishlegs?

I won't be able to make it. I forgot that I had to take Meatlug to the vet today so maybe another time?

Alright then, I'm probably gonna take a nap or something. I'm pretty stressed about today. Shit went down bro.

Alright. See ya later Hiccup.

See ya later Fishlegs.

Hiccup started to head to bed thinking about what he should do tomorrow. He changed and got into his bed and ordered some pizza for dinner since he really didn't feel like cooking that day and decided to take a quick nap. When he woke up the doorbell was ringing. He got up thinking it was his pizza. As he got up and walked to the front door, he felt a strange pull that he'd only felt when he was near her. But what would she be doing at his house? He assumed that it was just the pizza delivery man and shrugged off the feeling as lingering feelings from earlier in the day but when he reached for the door handle to open the door, he felt a weird feeling come from the runes on his arm but by the time he realized who was on the other side of the door, it was too late. He had already opened the door and standing right on the other side was the one and only Astrid Hofferson. He didn't know what to think if he could even think. Astrid was here at his house and if it were for any real reason would know. He was about to open his mouth to ask why she was here but she beat him to it.

"Don't ask. Egg Project." And after that she pushed past him and into the house.
