Thousands of years, man and monsters have coexisted. Monsters ruled the earth and dominated as megafauna so far beyond man, from the classical beasts that rule the old world to those living in a world far beyond. But for the longest time, it was beasts that ruled the earth, and the monsters plant a firm foot above us in the food chain. From the most ferocious tigrex to the humble kut ku; all dominate the earth unrivaled and filled every niche and lived in every biome, they came in many size, shapes, and even power, they were as adaptable as they were unstoppable, but it was only a matter of time before man struck back.

Yet even with the rise of the guild and even as ecological calamities befell, the monsters were never silenced in their advances against man. Man struck back, but no true charged slash is a one shot to its most powerful foes no matter how strong such a move is.

The Present Day.

It was past midnight in the rolling hills of Bherna, a cloudless night made way for the moon to shine its rays and lighten up the night. Crickets chirp in the dark night, crows caw, and the roars of monsters in the wilderness far beyond remain loud; uncurbed by the influence of man. Nature remained awake in the great carpet of darkness that is the night, hiding and sometimes thundering about beneath that very large veil, and those in tune with nature too remain awake.

A lone teen of short white-hair entered the village of Bherna, casually walking into the silent streets of Bherna with a small smile and a cheery face. She was dressed with simple bherna armor though without the turban, revealing a simple bob of white hair with a few strands of slightly long bangs that cover some of her fair face, and strapped on her back was a greatsword that was less a greatsword but a literal hunk of rock, literally less a greatsword but what seemed to be a sharp fossil with the smithy doing little to properly hide the clear plant fossil within it. Her armor was not made of monster parts and that cheery yet innocent face spelled it all, she was a rookie and one that didn't seem to have met the horrors of the world firsthand. She merely seemed to be carrying a few mushrooms and that "sword" of hers had little in the way of blood.

Yet despite all this, the white-haired girl peered through the darkness with the same effortlessness as a hunter with heightened senses would, those eyes didn't squint nor were they confused by the dark and there had been little fear as she walked back to the village, traveling miles from forest to rolling hills in the dark. The girl was no good hunter, but she was a hunter, even if she was the complete baseline.

The girl continued to walk across the silent streets with an air of casualness somehow possible after a long job, striding across olden houses and the sleeping folk. Her eyes turned and darted to the side in an instant whenever a curious felyne arose, and her lips curved to a big grin before waving back to any felyne that came her way.

No melynx here, they were in the forest so don't be so scared, but just remain vigilant at least.

Eventually, as the girl walked and walked tirelessly with mushrooms in hand, she came across a small house, a small house dominated with gray walls and grey roofs as she could tell. In front of the doorline was a small red chest with a cutesy model of a qurupeco face. The girl's eyes turned to the little chest and she made her move, walking towards the chest calmly, perhaps even more calmly as to not wake up anyone including the felynes within and once the distance was closed, the girl bent down and placed the mushrooms within her hands into the chest, and with that her smile grew wider.

"Abyssal mushroom delivery done, all in a day's work."

She exclaimed to no one, before then, she extended her arms and stretched a little after presumably an exhausting line of work, with a fossil greatsword like that strapped on her back; it was bound to be exhausting.

"Well, I'm gonna just check the board before I hit the hay."

So the girl again exclaimed to no one before turning around and making her way across the village in a casual yet intentionally quiet stride. Her eyes ignored the adorable moofas or the curious felynes, zeroing in on a fairly large board that held all sorts of papers and notices within it. A quest board sure, but also it seemed to be a general newsboard.

And unlike before even noon, there was one thing that seemed different.

A massive notice had been placed all over the board, a notice for all hunters, the big red notice was so big that the average hunter could see it from afar, gaining the attention of the white-haired girl like a deviljho seeing food.

An eyebrow raised, the girl began quickly heading over to the massive notice that was seemingly just now placed and read over it, curiosity began to grow even more as she read.

BREAKING NEWS: Hunter deaths on the rise!

In the aftermath of the frenzy virus outbreak, it was once thought that unrest wouldn't strike the old world in such a short amount of time. But that has soon been disproven.

In spite of a lack of ongoing ecological catastrophes like the elder's crossing, frenzy virus, or the awakening of powerful elder dragons like alatreon; the guild has recorded an unprecedented spike in Hunter deaths, with deaths averaging in the hundreds in at least one day, researchers are baffled by the sudden spike that did not coincide with any ecological catastrophes. Researchers say that this rise in hunter death tolls is beginning to rival the death toll during even the frenzy outbreak and continue to rise day by day.

Researchers of the Wycademy are sent to investigate the strange phenomenon and progress remains in its infancy, but in the meantime there is a prevailing theory as to why there has been a spike in deaths.

And four monsters are to blame, so to say.

The dominant theory centers around the emergence and population rise of four monsters with some newly discovered, that whilst not being elder dragon leveled; they possess a high risk to most hunters due to their obscurity as well as their strange powers. These monsters are the following.

ASTALOS - Hyper-aggressive flying wyverns that pose a threat to even the ecological balance of the ecosystem. They are quick to enrage and will kill a hunter on sight, using their electricity to paralyze and beat down a downed hunter ruthlessly with punches or slashes.

GAMMOTH - Enormous fanged beasts of the snowy tundra, intelligent yet aggressive, hunters thinking that these are gentle herbivores are crushed in an instant.

MIZUTSUNE - Normally docile leviathans, males in heat become so aggressive as to kill hunters on sight, hunters unable to deal with the bubbles spread about are sent to a watery doom.

GLAVENUS - Clever but territorial brute wyverns, using their tactics to swindle hunters underestimating their intelligence, their tail can cleave through tough armor and kill hunters with one swipe.

The public and some hunters have given them the nickname The Fated Four, and the guild urges utmost caution when they invade a quest. In the meantime, there are other theories but none are quite as credible as the theory of the four with the current knowledge we have.

"Huh.."

The girl muttered with a raised eyebrow, eyeing the pictures of the fated four plastered onto the notice. They were an odd few even at a glance, the picture of the glavenus showing a powerful brute wyvern with quite a massive tail.

She felt a slight tinge of fear at the thought of encountering it, hands were clenched without thought as the thought ran to her, and then they suddenly freed themselves when she took deep breaths to calm herself.

"Calm yourself down Tera, they're not even here and besides; at least ya got told about what they do before running into battle and dying by them. If anything... I guess it would be a chance to prove myself to see if I'm truly above the rest"

Said the girl- or Tera to herself, for the final time, her eyes lay upon the Fated Four with a longest stare sent to the leader of the four; the glavenus, a small hint of determination made way to her face and her lips pressed tensely, her fists began to clench again without thought, and soon she turned and began heading back to her house.

"Maybe, just maybe"

She told herself before going inside.

Maybe she could beat the fated four and uncover the mystery of the hunter deaths when she became good enough as a huntress to be recognized.

With that done, it's yours truly 8lord7 here, I had a nagging thought of a Monster Hunter Generations rewrite and that thought pushed me to write a fanfic. I always like a bit of writing in roleplay so may as well branch out in a big story in the form of a fanfic for the first time. This is a pilot to simply lay somethings down and don't expect any more chapters until I finish replaying MHGU, and I still need to finish replaying MH4U for that.
