Chapter 2
The Nuclear Student
"Ugh, can you believe that Firestorm guy?", asked Barbra as she walked into Metropolis High with her friends. "He's such a show off".
"I think his massive ego comes from his powers", suggested Karen. "After all, weren't you guys over confident when you first got your powers?".
"But I didn't parade them around like a jackass" said Jessica.
"And I don't even HAVE powers" said Barbra.
"'Cuse me ladies", said a cocky male voice. "Basketball team captain coming through". Walking past them was a Caucasian male with blue eyes and a head of black hair. He wore a yellow and red sport jersey over a white vest and wore red trousers with yellow sneakers. He had a cocky smile on his face as he walked by.
"Who's that guy?" Asked Diana.
"I don't know", said Kara. "But he REEKS of Douchebag".
"Speaking of Douchebags", said Jessica. "Look who just arrived". There, standing next to them was Metropolis High's football team quarterback and Jessica's fellow Lantern Corp member; Harold 'Hal' Jordon. Only this morning, he didn't look happy.
"What's the matter Hal?" Asked Jessica.
"That annoying bastard has been showing off his basketball skills for the past few days and hogs all the girls" answered Hal.
"Who is that guy anyway?" Asked Karen.
"Ronnie Raymond", answered Hal with some disdain. "The new captain of the Basketball team and show off. Man, what a douchebag". The girls just looked at him with 'are you serious' eyes.
"What?" Asked Hal.
"You basically described yourself" said Jessica with a slight chuckle. Hal just scowled before walking away.
Later, the girls had just entered the school's gymnasium to see Ronnie practicing with a basketball and the rest of the basketball team members. After getting the ball in the hoop, him and everyone of his teammates cheered.
"Thank you thank you", said Ronnie. "I'm here all week, autographs can be brought on game day".
"Man, what a douchebag" said Barbra.
"I don't believe it guys", said Jessica. "But I think I found someone more annoying than Hal".
"At least Oliver knew when to shut up" added Zee.
"Tell me about it" said a new voice. The girls then saw someone new sitting next to them.
He was a dark skinned teenager that was about 16-17 years old with very short hair. He wore a purple top underneath a black jacket with grey sleeves. He also wore a pair of blue jeans and black slip-on shoes.
"Who are you?", asked Diana. "I don't think we've met before".
"I'm a more recent student", said the boy. "My name is-".
"Jason Rusch". That voice belonged to Ronnie as he walked up to them.
"Ohohohooo, has little J.R finally worked up the balls to charm the ladies?" Asked Ronnie mockingly.
"No Ronnie", said Jason in annoyance. "I'm just talking to them".
"Eh, well, we can't all be charmers like me", said Ronnie. "Have a nice time with your fake harem J.R". Ronnie then walked away.
"What a dickhead" said Kara.
"I usually don't condone such language", said Jessica. "But, you're right, he is a dickhead".
"Sorry ya had to go through that Jason" said Barbra sympathetically.
"Eh, I'm used to it", said Jason as he got up and walked away. "That's to be expected when you have a douche for a step brother".
