A/n this follows Legacy, one of my favorite episodes, where we learn about Reid's "gift" with working girls! Please enjoy.
That Special Something
JJ leaned back against her seat and closed her eyes. Spencer slept on the bench, and she decided to follow his example and take a nap while they flew home from Kansas City.
"Hey," said Morgan, who sat across from her and next to Emily.
JJ opened one eye and said, "Do you mind? I'm trying to sleep. Go away."
"I will," Morgan replied and, the mischief in his eyes made JJ's guard go up. "You hear about pretty boy?"
JJ shifted and let out an annoyed sigh. "I know I'm going to regret asking, but what about Reid?"
"Hotch said that every working girl they talked to last night propositioned Reid."
JJ kept her eyes closed, but her heart rate rose a little. "So?"
"So. I thought you might want to keep a closer eye on your man."
"What are you talking about, Morgan?"
"Don't pretend you don't know what I mean. Everyone knows about you and pretty boy."
"Morgan's right," Emily said as she returned to her seat with a fresh cup of coffee. "We see the way you look at each other, JJ."
JJ opened her eyes and blew out a breath. She glanced over at Spencer and said. "Guys, we –"
"You don't have to confirm it," Emily said, and she kicked Morgan when he opened his mouth.
"Okay, geez," Morgan said, and then his expression turned serious. "JJ, if you do have something going with my man, I'm happy for both of you."
"Yes," Emily agreed. "You're lucky, JJ. He's a good man."
"Thanks."
JJ returned to trying to sleep without confirming their accusations, and for once, Morgan stayed quiet.

"So," Reid said later that night after they'd spent a wonderful hour watching Charlie Chaplin shorts with the team. "Why were you tossing popcorn at me?"
JJ picked up her bag and took his hand.
"JJ, we're still at work," Spencer squeaked and went rosy pink in the cheeks.
"Yes, but everyone knows about us. So why hide?"
JJ tugged him forward as he said. "JJ, what –"
"Emily and Morgan confronted me about it on the jet."
"Oh, well then let's go."
"You're not upset," JJ wondered as Reid raised her hand to his mouth and kissed it.
"No. I'm glad. After everything that's happened in these last months, it seems strange to hide anymore."
JJ smiled and kissed his cheek. "Let's go."
"Sure, but I still want to know why you were lobbing popcorn at the back of my head."
"Perhaps I'll tell you, one day."

Two days later, JJ sat at her desk and thought about the weekend coming up. She picked up her pen and began to write.
Dear Spence,
I promised you that I would tell you why I was throwing popcorn at your head. It was fun, and I wanted to express a bit of annoyance regarding a rumor I heard about you and the working girls of Kansas City.
Tomorrow is Thursday, and so far, we don't have a case that requires us to work this weekend. I've spoken to Hotch, and he has agreed to give us a long weekend. We don't have to be back until next Wednesday.
I propose that we take a drive up to that B&B Garcia found months ago and stay. We can leave early on Saturday.
There is a price for this weekend, however. I want to hear all about Kansas City from your point of view, and if I'm satisfied with your answers, we will have our weekend away.
Let me know if this is acceptable to you, and remember that night we spent together at your place when I showed you a trick I learned in college. I will give you a repeat if you so desire, Spence. All you have to do is say the word.
Love you,
JJ.
She folded the note and put it in her bag. She was sure Spencer had perfect recall about that night, and his desire to engage would override his need to keep Kansas City working girls and their attraction to him under wraps.
