A/N: If you're here it means the first chapter wasn't that bad so I guess, I did something right.
Disclaimer: Obviously I do not own the Mortal Instruments series or else I wouldn't be writing fanfics about it.
Clary walked out of the Principal's office after getting her schedule and tried to make her way to her locker. The school didn't seem so bad, didn't have many students but they all seemed friendly towards one another like they all knew each other. She stopped wandering aimlessly and looked around, if this locker was 364 and the numbers were going up as she looked to the right then her locker 214 had to be right there. She walked over and typed her code but it didn't work.
She sighed and tried again but to no avail. The bell rang and people started walking to their classes making Clary sigh once more as she tried again. She groaned when it didn't work and kicked the locker forcefully.
"Trouble sweetheart?" someone asked in a sweet voice. She turned towards the voice with a slight jump which earned her a chuckle. She looked at the owner of the voice, and her eyes immediately locked on to the most beautiful set of golden eyes she had ever seen, matching the golden mass of hair on top of his head. A naughty smirk that was nothing short of perfection and a tight jaw she wanted to run her hands across. Her fingers itched for a pencil to draw this seemingly perfect guy in front of her but she couldn't.
She noticed he wore a simple black T-Shirt that showed his lean muscles, and when Clary looked down at his arm muscles her eyes started to wander down south and she almost whimpered at the sight of all of him but stopped herself. Pull yourself together, Clarissa.
He seemed to have noticed but she shrugged before he could comment on it and sighed, "Nope, I'm no trouble. This thing is though".
He chuckled, "They can be a bother, right? Here let me show you. What's your code?" He moved quickly and wrapped his fingers around her own and started showing her how the locks work. The electricity from his fingers sparked through her own that she had to hold in a gasp of shock. He let her fingers circle back and forth between the numbers on the lock but she wasn't really paying attention to his words, she could only hear the melody of his tone and feel his touch on her skin.
The lock opened and she stared at it in shock, "I'm not gonna lie. I did not get that".
He chuckled, "Well looks like I'll have to stay around you until you catch on".
"Well that doesn't seem like a bad thing" Clary almost smiled mischievously as she put two books and a gym bag inside her locker, "I'm Clary Fray, new girl". Before he could introduce himself he was cut off by a loud female roar.
"Jonathan Herondale, you and the girl, stop flirting and get to your classes" They both turned to look at a woman, one of the teachers, ushering them. After getting over the initial shock of the name, it's not him, it's just a name, easy Clare. Clary was about to apologize but then she said "We were not flirting".
"I kind of was" the guy, Jonathan apparently said with ease as he leaned on the lockers and smirked with half sided grin and Clary blushed lightly but hid her face under her blonde hair.
"Well stop immediately, off to class, both of you. Now" the teacher said hurriedly.
"Miss Dorothea-"
"That's madam Dorothea, madam. Why is that so hard for you students? Say it with me Madam Dorothea" the teacher was almost livid with anger, jeez it's only a name.
"Madam Dorothea" Clary spelled out, drawing it out like a first grader reading for the first time and earner herself a chuckle from the guy and a glare from the teacher.
"Class, now" Madam Dorothea said and they nodded courtly and left the hallway.
"Damn" Clary muttered and Jonathan looked at her questioningly. "I don't know where I'm going, I don't know where my class is and I really wanna save face and not have to turn around and ask her".
Jonathan chuckle, "No worries, I'll help you. What class do you have?"
"History with Mr Starkweather" Clary answered.
"I have that too, come on" before she realized it, his hand had swept to interlock with hers swiftly and almost naturally as he lead her down the hallway, and she almost flinched, at first because of the initial shock and then at the jolt of electricity that sparked from the contact. She held in her gasp at his touch and decided to start talking before she thought too much of it.
"So Jon-athan-" she almost choked at the name she couldn't say in years now. This would be the first time in over four years that she said the name.
"Jace" he said.
"What?" Clary asked.
"My name is Jace, my full name is Jonathan but no one but the teachers call me that" he said.
"How do you get Jace from Jonathan?" Clary asked suspiciously.
"You don't. My name is Jonathan Christopher Herondale, JC are the initials, Jace" he said and Clary breathed out. He has the same name and middle name as her brother.
"Ah" Clary said finally, she looked down briefly at where their hands met and looked up at him but if he noticed her eye movement he didn't look like he did and wouldn't comment on it. "So Jace, as thankful as I am for helping me out, I have to ask why would you?"
"I'm a gentleman, you're a damsel in distress. Of course I would help, it's called chivalry" Jace said with a smirk on his face that made Clary chuckle and let out a "Bull. I don't buy it".
Jace laughed, "You don't think I'm chivalrous?"
With that naughty smirk? No way. "No" Clary settled on not mentioning his smirk but she chuckled letting him know she was only teasing.
"We're here" Jace said momentarily letting her hand go and she tried not to show him that she actually missed the touch of his hand, he opened the door wide for her to go in and teased in a hushed tone "Still don't believe I'm a gentleman?"
"Far from it" Clary answered back in a low voice as she entered and he followed her closing the door. Her eyes immediately glanced all over the classroom, hushed whispered flared all around as she looked over the unfamiliar faces.
"Ahem" Her attention was pulled towards the teacher, a blond haired man, surprisingly attractive for his age. He wore a gray suit that he tugged the hem of twice before his hands went to the digital clock on his desk. "I wasn't aware that the rest of the class and I were five minutes early, Mr Herondale thank you for being on the right time".
The class snickered lightly and Clary stopped herself from blushing, "Sorry, first day. I got lost before Jace found me".
"How kind of you Mr Herondale" Mr Starkweather said dryly.
"Just doing what any gentleman would do" Jace said obviously teasing and Clary heard an echo of chuckling and very distinctive snort from a black haired girl sitting at the back row.
"Just take your seat, Mr Herondale, my job is hard enough as it is" Mr Starkweather said then turn to Clary, "Don't make a habit of tardiness Miss..?"
"Fray, Clary Fray" Clary said and he nodded.
"Would you like to say something about yourself?" he asked.
"Not really" Clary said and Mr Starkweather nodded as he gestured for her to take a seat. Jace was already making his way to the back and she moved to follow him when a hand was placed on his wrist pulling him to one of the seats in the middle.
A petite blonde haired girl glared at her as she pulled Jace to her side and Clary rolled her eyes none too discreetly, she has no time for high school drama. She found a seat at the back and plopped down as Mr Starkweather started talking.
The black haired girl who snorted earlier pushed her chair closer to Clary and she immediately started talking, "New girl in the middle of November? What happened?"
Clary found the girl a bit nosy and answered dryly, "I killed someone and now I am running away and hiding as a school Junior".
"Mmm yeah, I know the feeling. But if you are running from the law might as well do it in heels" The girl said before chuckling a bit.
"I would fall on my ass faster than a hooker's knickers on payday" Clary said and the girl laughed. Clary loosened up slightly as she heard the girl laugh. Maybe not every girl's company is bad.
"I'm Isabelle" she said, Clary looked up, noticing the girl's features more now that she was giving her more attention. She had a very dark shade of brown-black eyes and a stunning complexion. Her black hair was like a wave of silk that reached down to her mid back and even while sitting down Clary could see Isabelle had the curves she had wished for all her life. She looked like a movie star or a model.
"Clary" she answered finally as she looked back at Isabelle.
"So Clary what do you think so far?" Isabelle asked.
"Your lockers are stupid and your teachers are mean" Clary answered immediately making Isabelle chuckle.
"I meant your thoughts on a certain boy" Isabelle said wiggling her eyebrows, which is apparently something everyone but Clary could do. Clary followed Isabelle's line of sight and saw Jace, looking back at them briefly. She thought he would turn around when she caught him looking but he didn't. He winked and Isabelle stuck her tongue out at him.
"No thoughts." Clary answered quickly and she couldn't help but let her eyes wander between the two, she really tried not to pry but couldn't stop herself and asked, "You two really close?"
Isabelle chuckled, "Translation? You wanna know if Jace and I are a thing".
Clary scuffed "Why would I care?" she couldn't even convince herself of her words so she doubted Isabelle would.
"Because you do. It's obvious" Isabelle said and Clary averted her eyes trying to focus on Mr Starkweather's voice. "Don't worry, in every way, he is like my brother" Isabelle whispered.
Clary tried to contain the little bit of joy she felt when she heard Isabelle say that and tried not to show it. "So Clary, what do you-"
"Miss Lightwood, Miss Fray. Are we bothering you?" Mr Starkweather cut Isabelle off loudly.
Clary stopped herself from snapping a 'Yes'. And muttered out a "Sorry" while Isabelle just chuckled soundlessly as she shook her head indicating a 'No'.
"You know Miss Fray when I said not to make a habit out of tardiness. I didn't mean to find another" Mr Starkweather said and Clary just bit into her lower lip trying to stop herself from saying anything she'd regret.
It was only her first day after all. Taking a deep breath she said, "Won't happen again".
"I hope not" Mr Starkweather just muttered and turned back to the board.
"What crawled up his ass and died?" Clary whispered to Isabelle.
"Don't know. It's been there for at least three years though" Isabelle whispered back and the two girls stopped themselves from laughing aloud.
"You know what, Fray? You're actually alright" Isabelle said.
"You're not so bad yourself either, Lightwood" Clary said and the two girls decided to start paying attention to the teacher then. Class went by quickly enough, when the bell rang, Clary was so ready to leave, gathering her books quickly when Isabelle asked her what her next class would be.
"Science with a Mr Lorenzo Rey" Clary said.
"Ooh better not be late to his class, he doesn't like tardiness, you get out of here, take a right until the end of the hall then a left at the end of the hallway, you can't miss it" Isabelle said, "But I'll see you at lunch?"
"Of course" Clary nodded smiling before turning to walk out of class. She liked Isabelle, she was fun and funny. But Clary knew not to get too attached, it's only a matter of a few months and she's on her way again. She heard her name being called and stopped turning around.
"Hey wait up" Jace strutted to where sh stood and she had to stop herself from admiring the way he walks with such a charisma. She heard a squeak of "Jace" in a whiny tone. The girl who pulled him to her earlier whined as she walked after him and Clary almost vomited.
She couldn't help the stab of jealousy in her stomach as she saw how close the girl was getting to him. He has a girlfriend. Of course he has a girlfriend. Not wanting to be pulled into whatever drama this situation offered she stumbled out, "Oh can't Mr Rey doesn't like tardiness. Gotta go, bye".
She almost ran out of the classroom when she heard Jace call her name one more time but she kept walking and she made a right turn she could see the girl's hands take hold of Jace's arm and drag him in the opposite direction and she looked away quickly.
She scolded herself for feeling jealous. She's his girlfriend, not you. You have no right to be jealous. Don't get attached.
She walked into science class and the teacher paired her up with some guy, telling her to sit down. "Okay guys, we are finishing where we left off last week. Miss Fray since you are new, in the middle of November, your partner will fill you in on what we did last week".
Why must everyone comment on the November thing? Being a new kid in a small town was hard enough, transferring in the middle of the semester was worse. Do I have to be reminded all the time?
"Hey, I am Raphael" the guy said with a hint of a Spanish accent and Clary smiled, "Clary".
"Nice to meet you, chica" he said, "So basically what we did last week was testing the effects of different acids and how each would react and documenting it down. Uuumm what I mean is basically, you look at your paper, see what they want you to mix, look for the bottle that has the same name on it, mix them and write what happens".
"I swear I'm not as blonde as I look" Clary chuckled, "I think I've got this".
Raphael chuckled lightly, "Sorry, I hadn't meant to insult you, chica".
"Oh no, I was just kidding really" Clary said smiling brightly, "You want to go through one by one together? Or split the questions half by half and then share answers?"
"I think it's better if we work together one by one, most of the questions will be on the quiz next week anyways and seeing it is better than reading it" Raphael said and she nodded. The class went by as they occasionally engaged in small chit-chat, she said she was from New York, he had told her he was from Mexico but his family moved here a few years back. Other than that it was just '100 mills from this' or 'Stir that' or 'Can you hand me a-'
Clary's mind couldn't help but wander back to Jace and then a smile plastered itself on her face as she thought of him more. Get a damn grip Clary Fray, You know better by now.
"300 mills of sulfuric acid" Clary confirmed as she poured it quickly to bottle with sugar.
"I said 100, not so fast, what are you-" Raphael was cut off as he ducked under the table. Clary was not so lucky, her reaction coming a lot later than Raphael, and only stood there gaped mouthed when masses of black carbon almost popped out of the tube and onto her face, her clothes and her table.
Clary groaned, "Maybe I am as blonde as I look".
Raphael ducked out from under the table laughing, "You were just distracted, chica. It's okay".
Mr Rey was in her face before Raphael finished her words, "Miss Fray, problem?"
Clary chugged two masses of black carbon from her cheeks and said sarcastically "Problem? No why would you think that?"
"I would suggest you clean yourself quickly, Miss Fray before the carbon begins to burn" Mr Rey said sternly. Does carbon burn flesh? She didn't want to risk it. "And get a mop from the janitor's closet to clean this up. The rest of the class, dismissed."
"I can help" Raphael said but the teacher shook his head.
"No need Mr Santiago, you may get to your next class" Mr Rey said and Raphael nodded, as he passed by Clary he muttered, "Sorry chica".
Clary scurried to the bathroom cleaning herself up, great just great. Clary thought as she saw herself in the mirror, she quickly washer her face and hands then decided to use the toilet. While she was inside she heard a few girl come in to the bathroom, talking loudly, gossiping. Clary realized was about her.
"Did you hear about the new girl?" One voice said.
"I heard she's cute" Another answered.
She heard a scuff as a third voice said "I saw her, no she isn't".
Ouch, well I thought I was cute. Clary tried not to think too much of their words.
"I heard she almost blew up the lab in science class" The second voice said. How did they knew about that already, it literally just happened.
"I heard it wasn't an almost" the first voice said.
"Great, we've got a walking talking catastrophe on our hands, why couldn't movie magic come true and we get a hot new guy at school?" The third voice said and the three chuckled as they walked out. The sounds of their shoes dimming more and more.
Well isn't this fantastic? Only the first day of school and already she's the girl who blew up a lab. Not that that was accurate but people apparently don't care. She's now a 'Walking talking Catastrophe'. Clary shrugged as she got out of the stall, washed her hands and tried to remove as much of the stains on her shirt as she could but it was no use. The top would be ruined.
She left the bathroom, noticing the halls were empty, Clary sighed. Now she would be late to the next class as well. Her record on the first day was bad. She found a janitor's closet and opened the door quickly to get a mop but stopped immediately in her tracks as she caught sight of two people in the closet.
A tall black haired, blue eyed guy and another, slightly shorter Asian guy his hair black with a little pink at the end of a few strands and more glitter than she had ever seen before in her life.
"Uuumm" Was all Clary could say.
"Don't you knock?" the first guy, with the blue eyes almost shouted at her. He looked like a deer caught in a car's headlights.
"Yes on bedroom doors not Janitor's closets" Clary sassed back immediately and the guy glared, walking out of the closet with no other word to her or the guy he was with and bumped her shoulder as he walked out.
Clary stumbled slightly and scuffed, the other guy, the Asian held a finger up to her chin sighing, "Don't take it personally biscuit. It isn't about you". It sounded like an apology but without the word 'Sorry'. Clary just shrugged when the other guy left as well and she took a hold of a mop and some cleaning wax and went back to the lab. She cleaned the desk and the floor and a bit of the window when Mr Rey said that good enough.
"Try paying more attention Miss Fray. Today's incident was only black carbon mess next time it's broken glass or fire everywhere" Mr Rey said.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again" Clary apologized and he nodded handing her a paper. It was a slip for being late to her next class, signed by Mr Rey. She nodded and scurried off to find her next class.
When will lunch get here, she's had it up to her height with bad luck.
Next she had Math with Madam Dorothea, This should be wonderful. "You're late" Madam Dorothea said as soon as Clary opened the door.
"I have a slip" Clary handed her the paper, Madam Dorothea took it hurriedly and scanned over the words.
"Well I'm happy you aren't late because of Mr Herondale again" Madam Dorothea said then pointed to an empty seat at the front. "Sit down".
Clary almost groaned and quickly scanned for any other possible seat. "I said sit down Miss Fray". Clary held in a breath as she went to sit next to none other than Jace's girlfriend. Just Great.
She felt the girl glaring at her during the entirety of the class and Clary almost sighed in relief. Okay maybe this isn't so bad, maybe there will be no drama.
The girl handed her a note, Clary held it suspiciously and read over the words Stay away from Jace. Or not.
Clary groaned and wrote down quickly You're ridiculous. It is so not like that. As she passed it over, she could see the rage on the girl's face and she scribbled out more words and handed the note back to Clary.
Don't call me ridiculous. I am warning you now. Stay away from him.
Clary started to get angry again. She could have said she didn't want to go anywhere near Jace anyways but she couldn't help responding with a certain anger, it was the redhead in her, Or what?
She got the note back after the girl wrote something down but Clary just scrunched the piece of paper in her hand and put it back on the desk without reading it. The bell then rang and class was dismissed, Clary was ready to leave when she felt a forceful shove from behind her and she shrieked as she stumbled on her feet and was knocked over against the desk next to her. The desk immediately hitting a soft spot in her side and Clary groaned.
"Alright, listen here you little bitch" Clary turned with a glare and a harsh voice at the girl.
"What is going on over there?" Madam Dorothea jumped up looking at the two girls. The girl masked an expression of complete innocence, "I- I don't know I was j- just helping her after she almost fell and she just started calling me names". The girl even had the nerve to stutter.
"Miss Fray, you actions are simply unacceptable. I do not know how American school systems work but here we value respect over all else. Apologize to Kaelie now" Madam Dorothea said.
Clary narrowed her eyes and said "I am not apologizing to that-".
"Miss Fray" Madam Dorothea screeched and Clary groaned.
Clary should just apologize and get it over with. She knew it would be easier. But seeing that discreet smirk on the girl's face, Clary snapped and said instead "I am sorry you are a bitch, you should work on that".
The girl- Kaelie, looked at her shocked, clearly she expected her to roll over and play nice but Clary would not give her that satisfaction.
"Miss Fr-"
"I don't care how much of a fancy name you think you have, you can't make me apologize. Nothing in the school rule book says I have to, legally you can't force me to" Clary argued back.
"I can send you into the principal's office if you do not" Madam Dorothea smirked and Clary scuffed.
"Legally you can't blackmail me either" Clary huffed out as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Principal's office then Miss Fray. Now" Madam Dorothea said. Clary let her nails claw at the skin of her arms trying to hold back yelling some more. She took the slip and walked out of class stopping at the door then turning back to say "Also 'Madam' is not better than Miss. It's just stupid" then walking out heading to the principal's office.
What a series of unfortunate events. One blow after the other.
When she walked into the principal's office, after the secretary let her wait over half an hour tapping her foot anxiously, he gestured her to sit down and listened to her version of the story. After Clary went on and on explaining that she may have lost her temper but she was certainly provoked into it, he sighed dramatically.
"Miss Fray, you are a very bright, artistic.. if slightly outspoken young girl. Just try not to get the teacher's attention when you get into your next word spat. Apologize to Madam Dorothea when you see her again and avoid the other girl if possible" he said.
Clary stared at him gaped mouth, did he really just say that? "Th- That's it?"
"Yes that is it. Now it's lunch time and we have cake in the teacher's lounge so I must be on my way. You play nice next time, right?" Clary just nodded and the principal clapped his hands happily, "Wonderful. I hope I don't see you under bad circumstances again, Miss Fray".
Clary stumbled out of the principal's office, a little confused. Europe was so weird. The bell rang and Clary finally sighed content. Finally it's lunch time. Her head hurt and she was tired already. But the stress of lunch took its toll on her as well. It can be a little overwhelming in her experience. Not because she thought people were as mean on TV as they were in real life but because everyone would be so familiar with one another and she really didn't want to sit with a bunch of strangers and just hear them talk so familiar with one another.
Although Isabelle did offer they have lunch together and she liked Isabelle but she didn't know who she would be sitting with as well.
She made her way to the cafeteria and looked around for a familiar face when she caught Isabelle, she hurried there, tapping her on the shoulder lightly. "Oh Clary, Hi".
Isabelle made room for her and Clary sat down, Clary looked around catching sight of Jace, his girlfriend and surprisingly that guy she caught in the janitor's closet. The one with the blue eyes, he glared at her as soon as he saw her and three more faces she didn't recognize.
"Everyone this is Clary, she is new. Clary you remember Jace, that is Kaelie. That is Aline, Maia, Sebastian and my brother Alec" Isabelle introduced. Alec scowled at her more but she could see slight fear in his eyes. Like he was afraid she might burst out and expose a big secret of his, like he collected toe nails or something.
The rest just smiled at her while she noticed Sebastian's eyes followed her closely. "No cafeteria food?" Isabelle asked friendly.
"No I got my own lunch" Clary just said taking out a peanut butter sandwich.
"You're lucky, this stuff is gross. I'm not sure it's even food" Aline said.
"Then why do you insist on getting it everyday?" Sebastian teased Aline and Clary heard a slight accent in his tone.
"So I can bitch about it, cousin. Why else?" Aline joked back. They were cousins apparently.
"So Clary how was your first day?" Maia asked cheerfully and she heard Jace snicker. Assuming he heard the rumors already.
Clary smiled sarcastically as she said "Now I know what Hell feels like".
They all chuckled except for Alec and Kaelie which didn't surprise Clary. Jace looked up teasing "You already have quite the reputation".
"Well I was late to my first class, almost blew up a science lab, had a fight with a student, a teacher, and got sent to the principal's office. Has it seriously been only four hours?" Clary said, she looked straight at Kaelie when she said 'student' and she seemed to be quiet. Oh now in front of everyone else she was Miss Innocent.
"Now I would say that is quite the reputation" Sebastian said, "Are you trouble, Clary?"
"More like troubled" Kaelie muttered under her breath and Clary stopped herself from yelling You wanna go? Let's go, right now.
"Very much so" Clary smirked as she adressed Sebastian.
"We hadn't had this much buzz and gossip in too long" Aline joked, "Not to mention the mysterious reasons why a new girl shows up in middle of November".
"I'm an FBI Agent, I'm undercover. It's just the job" Clary said seriously.
Jace chuckled as he pointed out, "Well you are not doing so well on the undercover thing if you're saying it outloud".
"Why? Do you think I am an FBI Agent?" Clary said narrowing her eyes.
He shook his head 'No'.
"And that's why it works. See? It's brilliant. Hiding in plain sight" Clary said and the group chuckled.
"So Clary where did you move from?" Maia asked.
"New York" Clary answered shortly.
"Do people move out of New York, I thought people moved to New York. The city that never sleeps" Isabelle said, a hint of dreaminess in her tone.
"How about it Izzy? We keep Clary and we send you to New York instead" Jace teased and Clary's eyes caught Kaelie moving closer to Jace and almost snuggling up to him.
"Then who's gonna get rid of your weekend fuckmate on Saturday morning before mom finds them and whips your backside for it?" Izzy said teasingly and Clary tried so hard not to spit out or choke on her food as she said that. Weekend fuckmate? So Jace does get.. around a lot.
But that was none of her Clary's business, right? Right?
Besides he has a girlfriend who is currently sucking on his neck like she hadn't heard Isabelle's words.
Wait a second, Izzy hinted.. or said that.. Do Izzy and Jace live together? She also said 'mom'. Where they siblings? Clary's mind wandered off to when Isabelle told her that Jace was her brother in every way possible. But that sounds weird to say if they were actual siblings right? If he was her brother she would have just said Jace was her brother.
Besides they did not look related, Izzy and Alec both looked very much alike but Jace looked so.. different.
"You're not doing your job well right now?" Jace whispered to Izzy and gesturing with his eyes to Kaelie.
"It's not Saturday morning" Izzy joked and the table laughed, all except for Kaelie who was busy leaching on Jace's neck, which totally didn't make Clary even slightly jealous. Nope. Not at all.
Okay Maybe only slightly.
Jesus Christ Clarissa you only met him today, get a freaking grip.
"So anyways Clary since you are new, you probably don't know about the football game on Friday" Jace said looking straight at her.
"Europe has football?" Clary teased.
Jace smirked "It's the real football, you know the one you Americans call soccer?" Jace said, "Anyways, Alec Sebastian and I are on the time. There's a game Friday night and a victory party at our house after. You should come".
"Already planning your victory party? That confident?" Clary questioned.
"Always" Jace said then winked at her and Clary rolled her eyes teasingly.
"He's right Clary, it'll be fun" Sebastian said.
"It's really not, but if there's a chance one of these guys will get kicked in the nuts, get a ball in the face or fall down, do you really wanna miss that?" Maia cut in laughing and Clary chuckled.
"Well when you put it that way, how can I say no to that?" Clary nodded, "I'll love to".
"Wonderful, now we have to work on not losing, we have a pretty girl in our crowd, we don't want to disappoint" Sebastian said and Clary blushed slightly.
"Now we have-"
"Excuse-"
"Boy, you better-"
All the other girls jumped up and started talking out loud, it was unclear what each had said but it was obvious they were all angry at Sebastian and Aline shot one of her fries at his face. Jace laughed hysterically at him.
"I did not mean it like that" Sebastian said, three sets of eyes set on him, waiting, expecting, he stumbled on his words as he scratched the back of his head "I just meant.. I mean that.. I thought.. Jace? Would you tell them what I meant?"
"No, do I look like an idiot?" Jace laughed, wallowing in Sebastian's misery.
Sebastian looked at Alec, "Alec? Help?"
"Yeah sure, he meant he doesn't see any of you as pretty girls" Alec said simply and Clary couldn't believe that the guy could make a joke.
"Thanks mate" Sebastian said sarcastically, glaring at him.
"No problem" Alec nodded going back to zoning out of the conversation.
"How can someone who lived in Paris, the city of romance be so badly unsmooth?" Jace teased.
"You lived in Paris?" Clary asked.
"Yeah I have an Aunt who is French, practically raised me herself" Sebastian answered. Clary wanted to ask about his parents but thought better of it. They weren't that close yet so she simply nodded.
"Whatever" Izzy said as she rolled her eyes and changed the topic of conversation again. Clary could honestly say she had fun. She didn't expect that much. But they were a fun group of people. Even if Kaelie was with them.
When the bell rang they all were ready to get out of the cafeteria when Izzy asked Clary what her next class would be. "Art with Miss Catarina Loss".
"It's on my way I'll take you" Clary couldn't help the shocked expression as she turned to the owner of the voice. Of all people. Alec? She hadn't expected that.
"Don't worry, Alec doesn't bite" Izzy said as she saw Clary's expression and Clary nodded. Well she hadn't thought about him biting her head off before, but now she sure was. Or maybe he will just kill her, he looks like he would murder someone.
