Clary walked inside the house, her feet stomping loudly on each step, her frame hunched over in dismay, as her mother stared her over. "Clary is something wrong?"

"Is anything not?" Clary countered annoyed as she immediately headed up to her room, slamming the door shut behind her as she forcefully dropped her backpack, the frustration she was feeling ascending with each moment she looked at her stupid blonde wig in the mirror.

Just another stupid wig and a stupid name and a stupid fake life where she couldn't get what she wanted. She though of everything that ha transpired in these last few days, she pushed Jace away yet again and he just completely disappeared for he rest of the day. He then showed up at her doorsteps in the middle of the night with Sebastian and asked her to come with to his parents' graves.

She suspected the fact that he was beyond drunk was the only reason he talked to her at all. She thought back to last night with a shake of her head, how did she do that? Sneak out in the middle of the night with two boys to a graveyard? If her mother or Luke ever found out, she would be grounded for life.

a certain smile pulled at her lips at the memory of it either way, but it was immediately shattered by what happened this morning. She had been right, Jace was so drunk, he forgot everything. Or at least that's what it seemed like.

"You're late" Clary announced as she got in the passenger seat of Isabelle's car, despite her statement, Clary didn't sound particularly bothered or angry with that.

"I'm sorry, I got held up" Isabelle said with a certain smile that made Clary frown suspiciously momentarily. What was that all about?

"It's okay, were you on Max duty again?" Clary asked.

"Mmhmm" Izzy muttered with a nod as she focused on the road in front of her, pulling out of Clary's yard. "Exactly" Izzy repeated with a smile. She couldn't help it. Although lying wasn't her favorite sport and she certainly didn't prefer it but she couldn't help but take little pleasure in all this secrecy, it was hot, sneaking around like that.

"You would not believe what happened last night" Izzy exclaimed. Wanna bet? Clary had wished to say but she surprisingly wanted to keep what happened with Jace to herself. It felt private and that talking about it would dissolve it or shatter it, undermine it. And she had no idea where Jace stood on that subject so as much as she wanted to tell Izzy, she decided it would be better to keep quiet.

Clary felt that nothing would surprise her anymore, after the night she had, whatever Isabelle said, it would not compare to the weirdness of her own.

"Alec kissed Magnus in front of my parents" Isabelle said.

"WHAT?!" Clary shouted immediately, her voice ringing loudly "No" she exclaimed, dragging her words unnecessarily.

"Yes" Isabelle nodded happily.

"No" Clary exclaimed again, her eyes still wide with shock.

"Yes" Isabelle said.

Clary leaned back, letting the shock settle into her brain. Alec? She wouldn't have guessed he would so soon, he was so determined on no one finding out, she couldn't believe it. Oh he and Magnus were so cute.

"Goddamn" Clary said breathlessly.

"Oh shit" Isabelle suddenly said, "I can't believe I told you too. I didn't even ask Alec how it went last night."

"Who have you told as well?" Clary asked surprised.

"Uuumm" Isabelle muttered, "Everyone?"

"Everyone?" Clary repeated.

"Everyone" Isabelle confirmed with a sheepish look, "I texted Jace and Sebastian, actually. I was gonna call Maia and Aline but they are both late, Aline is walking because Sebastian took forever to get ready and Jordan is dropping Maia off".

"Jordan? When did that happen?" Clary asked.

"I have no idea" Isabelle said.

It didn't take them long to get to school, the morning traffic already had passed apparently since they were so late. They had met up with Maia and Aline at the school gate, who were late as well. When they were walking to class Izzy demanded they have a girls night so she can hear all about the details of Maia's love life and they all had no choice but to agree.

When Izzy and Clary sat down in History after getting reprimanded by Mr Starkweather for being late, Clary couldn't help but notice that Jace wasn't sitting in his chair by her side as he usually did. In fact he wasn't in class at all.

She wondered if it was because of his hangover, which no doubt would be killer, or was it that something else was wrong. But she didn't have to wonder long, because not five minutes later, Jace had walked in, ruffling a hand through his golden hair that seemed a mess, but the kind of messy that added to its allure. Clary could see dark circles under his swollen red eyes from the back of the class and she held in her breath.

Jace had barely spared Mr Starkweather's lecture a glance before he sat down, somewhere in the middle of the class, completely ignoring Isabelle and Clary's presence all together.

And unlike the first day, he never turned around to look at them and make weird faces at Izzy or wink at Clary.

Clary felt her heart fall slightly at that.

Why are you surprised? She asked herself. He clearly doesn't remember anything from last night and was probably still angry at her, that thought hadn't eased in her mind one bit. She thought with time she would come to accept it, or at the very least it wouldn't feel this sour, but it hadn't.

Jace had ignored her the rest of the day as well, he hadn't shown up to lunch or English class. In English she had to be paired with some of the guys who had talked her ear off about every single aspect in the book and had agreed with everything she had commented on the book.

It was annoying.

She hadn't expected she would miss being challenged by Jace in English so much, or arguing with him over every single point, or his funny remarks at lunch. She had found herself thinking to herself at everything the others said something along the lines of If Jace were here he would say...

It had taken a bigger tole on her than she had imagined, today had been exasperating and she was tired. Now the thought of hanging out with the girls when she was feeling so down, just seemed like a drag. She heard a soft knock on her door and she sighed, taking her wig off and letting her mother in, "Yes?"

"Do you want to talk about it?" her mother asked, softly.

Clary asked, "If I said no, would you leave me alone?"

"Highly unlikely" her mother said jokingly, "But we can just sit here is silence."

Clary refused to say anything as she pretended to be distracted with her bald cap, taking it off and letting her red curls free. "Or you know, I could talk to myself, alone, all by myself, with no response from you. I mean it wouldn't be our first one sided conversation so I can just talk to myself. I do actually amuse myself a lot, more than others amuse me".

Clary still said nothing.

"I swear sometimes I feel like some conversation with people would have been better had I been talking to myself" her mother said with an over exaggerated sigh, "I swear, sometimes you just need an intellectual conversation and not many can provide that".

Clary took off her jacket and laid back down on her bed, glaring at the air in front of her. Trying not to let her mother know she was getting to her. "But then again I always liked it when you contributed to the conversation with your bad temper, it's always fun to see what comes out of your mouth".

"Bad temper?" Clary screeched out. Why does everyone think she is bad tempered? It's like if she had any tiny reaction to anything slightly annoying she is bad tempered. Well maybe sometimes that something is actually really annoying and she is just reasonably tempered and her reactions are justifiable.

Her reactions meaning yelling, hurting feelings and throwing things.

"Yeah like that" her mother said in a cheerful manner as she gestured to Clary.

Clary scowled as her mother grinned wickedly, knowing she got her. Clary rolled her eyes, sitting up on the bed as her mother joined her, and she sighed before explaining, "I'm just not having a great time adjusting".

"Does this have something to do with that Jace kid?" her mother asked.

"Mom, you don't even know him" Clary argued, tiredly. If her mother would just turn this into a 'That boy is bad for you' discussion, she really would rather skip the whole conversation.

"I'm just asking" her mother said, and Clary could hear in her tone she was genuine, "Is it?"

"Kind of" Clary admitted.

"Do you like him?" her mother asked.

Clary looked up at her biting her lower lip. She didn't want to admit it, since she never said it out loud, in fact she had never admitted that she likes anyone outloud, ever. Especially to her mother, who was always very cautious about the people she would let in. "I'm not sure".

"Clare?"

"I'm not sure, I.. I think so. Maybe, look it doesn't matter" Clary said, as she cast her eyes away, "I mean it's not like if I did, I could do anything about it".

"Clary, I know this is tough and maybe one day.. in a few months maybe, when we get settled for sure and we know your father won't be coming after us. Maybe then you can have the normal life you wanted" her mother said as she reached her hand out to touch Clary's shoulder.

Clary just glared at the touch and looked back at her mother annoyed, "Normal life? What normal life? This wig? This ID? Clary freakin Fray? What life can I have if I am lying about everything? How can I have a life when I am worried, every second of every day that he will just show up? Kill me or hurt my friends or take you away from me".

"Clary you're raising your voice" her mother said softly, trying to calm her down.

"What do you think that one day we'll just wake up and Valentine would send us a 'I'm sorry about all the shit I pulled' fruit basket and a 'Take care. Love, Dad' post card?" Clary asked annoyed. Can't she see that they will never be free? "Of course I am yelling I am angry and frustrated".

"Clary I am not the enemy here" her mother said and Clary groaned annoyed, realizing she is letting her anger out at the wrong person. And it angered her more that she can't take her frustration out on the right person.

"I'm sorry, I just can't- I can't just keep waiting for a miracle that's never gonna happen" Clary sighed, just tired and her mother hugged her tightly.

"I'm so sorry, Clary. I wish if there was something I could do." Clary rested her head on her mother's shoulder. She didn't want to answer her because she knew that the only answer was that there wasn't. There wasn't anything she could do.

Clary had laid in her mother's hug for what seemed like forever, clinging on to her like it would somehow protect her from the dangers of the world and at least it gave her the feeling that it could. The warmth felt heavenly, like it was truly capable of keeping the bad guys away until Clary had ultimately pulled back.

Her mother had brushed Clary's hair back behind her ears, "I know that someday, you will never have to worry about your father again. You just have to have faith, Clary".

Easier said than done.

"Clary, you have to believe that and if you can't have faith in the universe," her mother sighed as she looked her over with tear filled eyes, "Have faith in me".

Clary breathed out, letting the hurt and anger out and settling for a soft smile, if not for her sake at least for her mother's.

"Now how about I make you your favorite lunch?" her mother asked smiling at her, her hands still holding Clary's face.

"How do you know that's the answer to cheering me up?" Clary asked.

"Your my daughter, I wouldn't expect anything else" her mother joked.

"Hey mom, I need a favor" Clary said as she helped her mother clear the plates from the table.

"Anything sweetie" her mother said.

"Get out" Clary said dryly, in all seriousness.

Her mother turned to her perplexed, "What?"

"The girls and I were planning a girls night and I thought maybe we can hang out here so I will need you to call Luke to pick you up from whatever crappy motel he is staying at and get out" Clary explained again with an innocent smile. The truth was that Izzy had suggested they hang out at her house and Clary was not in the mood to run into Jace and being ignored again.

"Clary I think Luke probably has plenty of work to do-"

"Which he will drop happily as soon as you pick up the phone. Haven't you been paying attention?" Clary asked. How can her mother be so oblivious to Luke's attraction? Did she really think Luke would travel across the sea just to give her a boxing lesson?

"Fine but only because you were really depressed earlier and you need this" her mother said, a clear warning of 'Don't get used to it'.

Clary smirked "Being depressed have never been more rewarding".

"Don't get cheeky with me" her mother said as she propped her hand on her hip.

Clary faked innocence "Am I ever cheeky?"

"Yes, all the damn time" her mother said rudely, "You get that from me unfortunately, if I had known this, I would have been nicer to my parents".

"The angels just brought that back around full circle, didn't they?" Clary said, a half sided grin on her face.

Her mother sighed agreeing, "They can be that way", she then added with sarcasm dripping from her tone as she looked up teasingly at Clary "It's just wonderful all around".

Clary laughed at that. She definitely got her sense of humor from her mother. She had texted the girls quickly.

Clary- Hey girls, how about we do girls night at my house?

Izzy- Does this mean I have to change out of my pajamas? *Tired Emoji*

Clary- No but it does mean you have to bring with ice cream.

Maia- I'm game, wherever as long as I pick out the movie.

Aline- As long as it isn't one of your superhero movies that are soooooo long and boring.

Maia- Just for that, I am picking a superhero movie.

Izzy- You had to piss her off, didn't you, Aline?

Aline- It was unintentional and somehow not surprising at all.

Clary- I'm good with whatever movie.

Izzy- As long as there is a guy for me to fantasize about.

Maia- Can I come in my PJ's too, Clary?

Clary- Of course.

Clary- Actually since you're all coming in PJ's. How about we make this a sleepover too? You're already staying out late.

Aline- My parents won't mind.

Izzy- Mine won't either. Especially since I won't be asking them.

Maia- That does make it harder for them to protest.

Aline- I said it before, I'll say it again, as long as there's food...

Clary chuckled, then she called out "Mom, we're gonna need more sleeping bags".

"You want me to give birth to one?" her mother's sarcastic voice came from the living room.

"No you can hatch one just as well, I don't mind" Clary retorted back, and her mother popped up with an unimpressed dry look and Clary smiled innocently, almost frightened at her mother's hard glare. "I'll just text Izzy to bring with them".

"Good choice" her mother said before picking up the phone and stepping away from Clary, heading outside. She dialed the number and it picked up after two rings, "Hey Luke".

"Miranda, is everything okay?" she heard his voice on the other and almost sighed annoyed. She hated when he didn't call her her real name, but she knew that he would never call her her real name, he was a professional and she is cautious.

"Yeah, just the moment we all feared is here now, my daughter is kicking me out to hang out with her friends" Jocelyn said with a chuckle.

"And you want me to kill her friends? I'm not really a hit man" Luke joked.

"Let's call that Plan B" Jocelyn teased, playing along.

She heard Luke chuckle on the phone "So what's Plan A then?"

"Dinner" Jocelyn said bravely then immediately regretted it, she played with the dead skin on the edges of her nails anxiously, "You know as friends, dinner maybe a movie, just to give the girls some space?"

Luke paused for a moment and Jocelyn's heart picked up instantly in speed, just a little bit completely terrified from what he might say, "Yes to the dinner, no the movie. I was thinking maybe dancing? I know a place just outside the city, can I pick you up at eight?"

"Sounds wonderful, I'll see you then" Jocelyn said smiling at the phone before ending the call, she turned around to head back in the house and stopped as she realized Clary was there, leaning on the door frame with a smirk on her face.

"You were saying?" Clary asked teasingly.

Jocelyn narrowed her eyes as she accused halfheartedly "I was saying I raised a very sneaky girl".

"Very sneaky and with no respect for people's privacy" Clay added as if she was proud of it too.

"We brought ice cream" Izzy said excitedly as she walked into the house, no knock or invitation needed and Clary thanked the angels she had put her wig on long before they got here, Aline sent Izzy a scolding look to which Izzy noticed then proceeded to ignore.

"Great, come in" Clary said as she helped the girls with their stuff putting the ice cream in the freezer.

Clary had pulled up her blonde hair in a messy bun and was wearing a casual sky blue pajama bottoms and a white top with blue sleeves matching the bottoms. Izzy had pulled her hair in a gorgeous braid and resting it on her shoulder, wearing black knee length bottoms and a fitting purple shirt. Aline was wearing pink bottoms with little hearts on them and a pink loose shirt, while Maia was wearing a forest green long sleeved shirt, easily two sizes too big for her and leggings.

"So I picked up Eat, Pray, Love-"

"We are not watching Eat, Pray, Love" Maia interrupted Izzy who sent her an eye roll and stuck her tongue out childishly.

"You girls are watching Eat, Pray, Love? That's mine and Clary's favorite" they all turned to look at the stairs where Clary's mother emerged, adjusting her earring in the mirror, then proceeded to dust off imaginary dust from her red dress.

Clary admired the dress that she hadn't seen in awhile, it was sleeveless, only having two sides of the material reaching to knot behind her neck, exposing just a hint of the skin of her cleavage, tightening around her small waist and flowing down freely to reach just below her knees. Jocelyn popped her hip to the side as she opened her arms for the girls to see, "What do you think, too much?"

Izzy wolf whistled teasingly as the rest of the girls quickly rushed to compliment, "It looks wonderful".

"Damn Mrs Fray, hot date?" Izzy asked, ever the bold one.

"Yes" Clary answered quickly.

"No, just seeing an old friend" her mother protested.

"Very hot date" Clary repeated as if her mother hadn't said anything.

"Must be some friend" Aline joked in Maia's ear, who covered her mouth, to muffle her chuckle.

"You know Clary, you and your mother look so much alike" Izzy said, "Except for the hair".

Clary's smile dropped at the mention of the hair and growled, "I've been told".

"So, it's nice to meet Clary's friends" Jocelyn said.

"Mom this is Izzy, Maia and Aline" Clary introduced quickly, "Guys this is my mom, Miranda".

"Nice to meet you all, aren't you Dr Robert's daughter?" Miranda asks, smiling at Izzy.

Clary could swear she saw Izzy's right brow twitch for a moment, but her smile never wavered, "Yeah I am".

"He speaks highly of you and your siblings" Miranda said. Clary saw Izzy nod tightly and wondered what the hell had gotten into her? At the mention of her father, she started acting weird.

"Luke's gonna be here any minute" her mother commented as she moved a bit nervously from side to side, looking herself over in the mirror once more, "Should I put my hair up?"

"No, it looks good" Clary said, "You look beautiful, it's just first date nerves".

Her mother whipped her head to look at her with teasing annoyance, "It's not a date and even if it was, it wouldn't be my first".

"Well you're acting like a girl going on her first date" Clary said.

"How would you know what a girl on her first date looks like?" her mother said with a raised eyebrow.

"Boom" Maia commented immediately.

"Shots fired" Aline adds.

"Damn, Mrs. Fray" Izzy says, shaking her head.

The three girls look at Clary, having never seen her at a loss for words in a wit match except for when she was with Jace. Clary shrugged, "Sometimes she wins". Just a tiny bit embarrassed at the blow to her dating life but she shrugged it off.

Someone then knocked on the door and Izzy, ever the bold one, looked through the peephole and smirked, singing "I see a suit, that means date".

Maia pushed her to the side just a bit to see as well, "A very hot suit".

"Not as hot as the man wearing it" Izzy commented and Jocelyn smacked each of the two girls in the back of the head lightly, just enough to get their attention.

"Keep your eyes on guys your own age" she chided facetiously.

She opened the door carefully as all the girls moved to the side to stand next to Clary on the counter in the kitchen that was on the right of the door as you walked in, all swooning.

Luke was wearing a nice casual suit, navy blue overcoat, white dress shirt and black jeans. Clary rested her elbows on the counter as she leaned forward, propping her chin on her fists and the girls imitated her move.

Luke stopped for a moment, "Jo- Miranda, you.. are beautiful".

Jocelyn breathed out relieved slightly that Luke hadn't said her real name in front of the girls, and smiled, "So do you Luke.. not that you are beautiful, I mean you are, handsome that is. You are handsome".

Clary stopped herself from laughing at her mother's expense, she was acting like a teenage girl, more so than her. "Hey kid" Luke said, as he turned to Clary.

"Hi Luke" Clary said smiling wildly.

"Hello girls" Luke acknowledged her friends.

"Hi Luke" the three girls dragged out teasingly, in unison, making Luke chuckle and Clary's mom glare at them.

"Shall we go?" Luke suggested and Jocelyn could only nod as she followed him outside, before closing the door behind her, she sent the girls a 'I'm watching you' signal and they all laughed as they waved her goodbye.

"Your mom is funny" Maia commented first and Clary chuckled.

"I know she is just like me" Clary said joking, then stopped as she thought of an idea that terrified her, "Thursday night and my mom has a date while I'm at home. Does my life even have meaning anymore?"

The girls chuckled before Izzy changed the subject, "You two seem very close" Izzy had said and Clary wasn't sure if she heard a slightly bitter tone in her words.

Clary nodded as she smiled, "Yeah we are, she is the closest person I have".

"Must be nice" Izzy said but before anyone could say anything she shrugged, "Who wants milkshakes?"

"Is that even a real question?" Maia joked, "I'll set up the movie, Clary get the popcorn and Izzy you make the milkshakes".

Aline stood up straighter, "What do I do, boss?"

"Sit there and look pretty" Maia said in all seriousness.

"Sir, yes, sir" Aline said and the three girls suddenly stood up straighter and saluted Maia before each heading out to their mission.

Clary stopped as she was organizing the stuff the girls brought over, "Who brought booze?"

"It's for the milkshake" Izzy defended.

Clary looked over the booze thinking it over, "Not just for the milkshakes".

"Hard day?" Izzy asked and Clary nodded, "I could tell".

"You could?" Clary asked unsure.

"Of course, you were practically sulking all day, that's why I got the booze" Izzy said with a shrug, "I just thought if you didn't want to talk about it, you might want to drink and forget about it".

Clary looked over Izzy in shock, "You see a lot more than you say, don't you?"

"One of my many fabulous talents" Izzy said with a sigh as if it pained her to admit as she started preparing, putting out the ice, the ice cream and chocolate treats as Clary microwaved the popcorn.

Clary hadn't expected Izzy to have noticed her down mood, she really hoped she wouldn't put two and two together and figure out what happened with Jace. Because Clary was in no way, shape or form ready to talk about that.

"Talents? As in plural?" Clary asked, faking confusion as if the concept was foreign to her.

Izzy turned to her with a smirk as she added the booze to the blender, then started putting in Oreos "I'm sorry, and you do what exactly?"

"I manage to get myself into the worst situations possible" Clary said looking half way proud, and the other half completely wrecked. Izzy looked her over for a minute before picking up the booze and adding a lot more to the blender and Clary nodded, "Wonderful idea".

"Here here".

The girls laughed loudly at something ridiculous Izzy had just said. The movie had ended an hour ago and they had all sat down for a game of Truth or Dare and they were all just a little bit too drunk.

"You did not" Maia screeched laughing.

"I swear I'm not kidding, my underwear is still up there on the telephone line" Izzy admitted.

"Iz, I have to say you are crazy, I mean breaking and entering school at night and having sex on the roof?" Clary laughed as Izzy told the story of her and 'mystery guy's escapades on the rooftop. "Unbelievable".

"Okay your turn Clary" Aline said.

"Dare" Clary said instantly.

"No, no more dares for you, you only pick dare" Aline said.

"How is that a problem?" Clary asked.

"Because I am convinced you fear nothing, girl" Maia argued. It was true, Clary wouldn't turn down a dare, so she already had drank half of the rum in one gulp, ran around the street making animal noises and pole danced around the edge of the staircase.

She didn't know if she would have done any of those things if she wasn't just a little bit tipsy but her stubborn nature combined with liquor practically made it impossible for her to refuse.

Besides, dare was the safe choice wasn't it? At least that's what a person hiding secrets would say.

She realized the girls wouldn't budge and she rolled her eyes, "Fine, truth".

"Good" Maia said then looked over to Aline who looked over to Izzy who looked back at Maia. They didn't have a question.

"Do you have any-?"

"No, do you?"

"No, do you?"

"You just asked me"

"Hehe sorry... do you?"

"You guys are too drunk" Clary laughed crazily.

Izzy pointed an accusing finger at Clary but she could barely see straight and she was actually pointing at the TV behind her "I know you -hic- I know you -hic- are but -hic- actually maybe I -hic- am".

"Oh, I have one" Aline said dizzily, "Why don't you want to be with Jace?"

Clary sobered up instantly at that question, "Who says I don't?"

The girls exchanged looks before Maia asked "So you do wanna be with Jace?"

"I didn't say that either" Clary said, pulling back.

Maia tilted her head to the side in the most confused expression ever shaking her head, "I don't get it".

Me neither. Clary thought but she didn't say, "It's complicated".

"What's so complicated? Do you like him?" Izzy asked.

"Yeah, do you?" Aline asked.

"Do you?" Maia repeated and then started laughing, at what Clary wasn't sure.

Yes. "It's complicated" Clary repeated, as she looked away from the interrogating eyes of the group.

"Oh I know what we should do" Izzy said, "Kar -hic- Kara -hic- Karakoke".

"Karaoke" Aline corrected.

"What did I say?" Izzy asked, unsure.

"Karakoke" Aline laughed.

"And what did you say?" Izzy asked.

"Karaoke" Aline answered.

Izzy stopped for a moment, "Aha, And what did I say?"

Clary slid over the counter, her long socks helping her slide smoothly as she held a spatula in her hand and sang, "Whoa! I feel good".

Maia shook her shoulders with the music as she sang on the couch, "I knew that I would".

Izzy slid down on the handrail from the second floor down as she sang, "I feel good".

Aline did the swim dance as she sang to her almost empty liquor milkshake, "I knew that I would".

They all gathered at once, "So good" they sang in unison as the flipped their hands back and forth to the beat of the music, "So good", they shook their heads to the music, "I got you" they pointed to each other before Clary broke out, "Whoa, I feel nice".

"Like sugar and spice" Aline sang to her milkshake.

"I feeeeel nice" Izzy sang dramatically into a hair brush.

"Like sugar and spice" Maia sang as she danced.

"So nice" Clary yelled out and they all twisted their hips to the beat of the music. "So nice".

"I got you" Izzy yelled to her brush as they all broke into dancing.

They all ended up falling down and laughing as they gathered around the TV again. This was great, Clary thought, exactly what she need, a night to not think about you know who and how her you know what is causing her problems with the other you know who.

"We need more girls nights" Maia said.

They heard the sound of a car park outside and Clary freaked, "Hide the liquor".

Izzy closed the bottle and hid it under the sleeping bag they had put in the living room. "Act natural" Clary whisper yelled, with the amount of alcohol in her body managing to look absolutely crazy.

They all laid around when the door opened as Maia bluffed, "And that's how a bill becomes a law".

"Oh" they all nodded pretending to understand what she was saying.

Clary turned around, smiling falsely, faking innocence "Oh hey mom, I didn't hear you come in".

"Yeah" her mom said smiling and Clary frowned confused.

"Yeah?" Clary asked again which seemed to have snapped her mother from her state. She walked over to the girls, "Hope you girls are having fun".

"Yeah, you know. Not too much fun" Maia laughed winking and Clary stopped herself from smacking her head with the palm of her hand. Maia laughed until it was awkward enough then looked at Izzy who was glaring at her, Maia sent her a look that read 'I'm sorry I panicked'.

"Good, I'm glad. Can I try that?" her mother asked as she went to grab half a milkshake from the ground and they all panicked, eyes wide as they moved to stop her.

"No!" Aline screamed as she took the milkshake, Miranda gave the girl a weird shocked look and Aline went on, "My milkshake, see? Mine". Aline felt everyone's eyes at her at that moment and drank the milkshake down in one breath, "My milkshake".

"She likes her milkshake" Izzy explained with an apologetic smile.

"Okay" Miranda said after a moment, then stood up, giving the girls a weird look as she headed up the stairs "Goodnight, I think".

The girls waited for Miranda to reach the top floor before they all burst into quiet laughter, trying not to draw attention to themselves again, "I'm gonna throw up" Aline said as she jumped up, trying to steady her feet, the last big gulp obviously affecting her more than she realized and she headed to the bathroom, knocking into the wall before doing so as the girls laughed.

"She doesn't know where the bathroom is" Maia whisper laughed as Clary went to help her.

The girls had woken up with a headache due to Clary's mother making so much noise o early in the morning. At one point they imagined they heard a trumpet playing the bugle call of the military which knocked over Maia from the couch to the floor, flat on her face but she hadn't moved since then and she suspected Clary's mother had guessed alcohol was involved last night.

"We couldn't wait one night for girls night? We had to do it on a school night, didn't we?" Maia groaned with an accusing tone.

"Why are you yelling at me?" Izzy cried as she put the pillow over her head. "Can someone please turn off the sun?" Izzy muttered behind her pillow.

Miranda walked by them, "Come on girls, up and at 'em, today is Friday. Last day of school this week, don't be lazy".

"Clary, I'm gonna kill someone" Aline whispered, sinking her face down into her pillow further.

"Please stop shouting" Izzy repeated.

"Guys, Clary isn't here" Maia said in a dry tone and they all looked over and saw Clary, not in her sleeping bag but in the far corner of the living room, on the couch, one foot on the wall and the other on the ground, while her mouth hanged open, drooling slightly.

"Water?" Aline suggested with a hint of an evil smirk.

"Like I need water" Izzy said as she crawled over to Clary, the pounding in her head still too distracting to let her walk straight. She reached Clary and reached her hand back to land a smack on her face.

"Wakey wakey" Izzy joked, as Clary jerked up from her sleep by the slap and fell down on the ground, hitting her face. "Up and at 'em".

"Owe" Clary muttered into the carpet, before pulling herself up, "Okay who's gonna tell the band in my head that the party's over?"

The constant beating inside her head made her believe her brain cells were doing the Oompa Lumpa. Her ears ringing loudly as she shielded her eyes from the light, was the sun always this bright? Bile rose in her mouth, she was gonna throw up.

"You guys owe me a new brain" Aline said as she rubbed her temple.

"You guys, we need to get up" Maia said finding the courage to stand up, almost falling as she lost her footing but then straightened herself back, "I'm okay". As soon as she took one step forward, she fell sideways to the floor.

"Why is everyone yelling?" Izzy groaned again.

"We are so gonna regret last night" Clary muttered.
