"Okay so then you-"
"I know what to do" Clary waved a dismissive hand, effectively cutting off Sebastian's instructions as she held her cards, looking them over with interest, he had been telling her what to do for the past hour and she wanted to win one deal by herself with no help from him.
"Five minutes in and she thinks she's some kind of a master card genius" Sebastian said with a teasing glint in his tone as he leaned over her chair.
Clary kept her face impassive as she studied the faces of the gentlemen around the table as they each exchanged their cards, she remembered what Sebastian told her about the possibility of what each one had according to the number of cards they asked to exchange.
"And how many for you, little lady?" The dealer asked, looking her over with obvious teasing and a condescending tone. They had all been looking at her like that, only making her more angry and more determined to win.
"None" Clary answered as she lowered her cards, letting them face down against the table.
All the gentlemen's eyes widened as they quieted down, finally, for the first time during this game, giving her their full attention. Sebastian's poker face behind her remained impeccable as ever and she only let one side of her lips twitch up in a half sided grin.
"I raise you a hundred" The man on her right said, looking her over as he scratched the shadow of a beard on his face, throwing a few of his chips at the center with the rest.
"I see your hundred" The blond man with the mustache said, throwing a few chips as well.
The guy sitting across from her, who couldn't have been more than a few years older than her looked around the room with a nervousness apparent on his features. "I'm out" he sighed, slamming his cards face down on the table.
Raphael who was sitting next to him raised another hundred without saying a word, only momentarily stopping to look at her with a look that asked 'What are you doing?'. She was surprised to see him here at first, even more surprised when Isabelle had greeted him with a hug and was now, against all logic, standing next to him, watching with special interest.
Iz rested her hands against his shoulders and Clary saw Raphael smile, pulling on of her hands to lay a soft kiss on her open palm. Clary was shocked to say the least at the closeness between Isabelle and Raphael, she had known they've gone out on a date or two and they went well, but they were acting like they were a couple or something and Isabelle didn't exactly seem like the lovey-dovey coupley girl.
She heard rustling behind her from Sebastian as he lowered himself so that his head was level with her own and she felt his breath on her neck before she heard him whisper, "Please beat his foreign ass for me?"
Clary sensed unusual hostility from Sebastian towards Raphael but she shrugged it off as she nodded with a smirk, she was planning on doing it anyways.
The last man sighed rubbing his eyes, "I'm out" he announced, throwing his cards down in the pile.
"I see your two hundred and raise you a hundred" Clary announced throwing a few chips in the pile of money.
The man on her right narrowed his eyes at her as he put in another two hundred and raised another hundred.
The man on his right looked at his cards with a solemn expression and sighed, "I'm out".
Raphael looked at his cards again with a solemn expression before he sighed, "Dios mio chica, I'm out".
Which left only Clary and the man on her right, "I see your hundred and I raise you another" she said.
"I see your hundred and raise you another" the man countered as he put some chips in the pile.
Clary smirked, "I see your hundred and raise you... all in, in fact".
The man jumped back as Clary dragged all her pile of chips to the center with the rest, the man's eyes widened as he shook his head, seemingly thinking she wasn't serious or he was hallucinating and he hadn't just heard what he thinks he heard.
"All in? Are you mad girl?" the man asked.
"Do I look mad?"
"Yes you do" The man answered back and Clary smiled happily at that. He looked from her to his cards then back at her with nervousness. What to do? She could even see everyone else at the table looking with interest at the game.
The man scratched at his jaw as he bit his lower lip, looking from the cards to Clary again. She could see the struggle in his eyes, does he match her price or back out? It was a hefty price as well. Does he take a chance or remain safe against this little girl with an evil smile?
The struggle ended when an annoyed grunt left his throat and he slammed his cards down, "I'm out" she could hear the venom in his voice as he said it too.
Clary jumped up happily as she dragged the pile of money to her side and she heard Sebastian cheer behind her happily, "Wooaho". She looked around and saw Isabelle giving her a smile, and the others looking at her with impressed expressions.
"So what did you have?" The man on her right asked.
"I'm not telling" Clary said smiling.
"Come on, tell us" the man asked.
"Venga chica, tell us" Raphael said.
Clary sighed overdramatic as ever as she took her cards and threw them in the center of the table, letting them scatter around and face everyone. All eyes looked with peaked interest before the man on the right shouted in an incredulous manner "You have nothing!".
"Exactly" Clary said happily as she turned around, getting out of Sebastian's chair and giving it back to him. Sebastian had the most proud expression ever as he looked her over, "I love you, Clary" he said.
Clary chuckled as she clapped her hands happily, "That was so fun, I can't believe I won".
"And just in time" Clary heard Jace's voice say and she turned to look at him, who also had an impressed expression on his face and just a hint of excitement.
"Just in time for what?" Clary asked and in answer Jace took her hand in his and started walking away, dragging her with him. "Where are we going?"
"To get you a front row seat to the race" Jace answered as he opened a door and the two walked down the set of stairs. They were outside once again and Clary realized they were on the track. Her eyes widened as she looked over at Jace to see if he was serious. He definitely was.
"You're crazy" Clary commented, but she didn't know why she was smiling.
"Be crazy with me?" Jace suggested.
"Yes" Clary answered quickly, she hadn't even expected that of herself, to give him an answer, let alone a 'Yes' and yet here she was.
She saw Alec as soon as he saw her, "What is she doing here?" he asked sounding shockingly annoyed.
"She's coming with" Jace answered.
"Jace, what are you doing?" Alec asked, "Why are you doing this?"
"Everyone should get in a car race at least once in their life, don't you think?" Jace said with a smirk, "Besides she wants to come with".
"I really do" Clary added nodding frantically.
Alec rolled his eyes and sighed, "Fine, whatever but if her weight makes the car go slower and you lose-"
"Excuse me?" Clary squeaked out.
"Alec, she's like a hundred pounds of blonde hair and anger issues, what damage could she do?" Jace said with sarcasm and Alec only grumbled a response as he stood at the side. Clary followed Jace as he opened his passenger seat for her and she got in excitedly.
She saw outside her window, Jace leaning forward to shake the hands of his opponent, a dark haired guy who seemed roughly their age. Seconds later, he propped down in his own seat beside her, "Seatbelt" he said.
"You never once asked me to put the seatbelt when you drive" Clary pointed out as she reached for the seatbelt anyways, seeing him do the same.
"I'm not driving now, I'm racing. How am I supposed to explain it to your mother that you flew out of the car window and got squashed during a race?" Jace said with sarcasm dripping from his tone.
"I wouldn't explain it like that" Clary said, "In fact I wouldn't explain it at all, just skip town, run. It would be best".
"Noted" Jace said.
The broadcaster's voice announced the start of the game and Jace's car vroomed to life, its wheels scratching against the track ground, the sounds echoing loudly in her ear. With an ungodly speed, the car made its way through the track, Clary looked wide eyed and excited at everything around her. The view and colors moving too fast for her barin to comprehend, sharp turns and Jace.
Jace was different like this, he seemed happier, more relaxed, like this was the most calming bubble bath ever for him. So focused and his smile seemed to stretch wider. She couldn't believe the rush of emotions she had at a car race of all things.
Three laps went by quickly, she almost didn't believe it was over and she stood there for a moment completely frozen in shock as the broadcaster announced Jace had won this round.
She looked back at Jace who was an image. A radiant teasing smile on his face, one arm resting on the open window by his side and his fingers barely resting on the wheel while his other arm leaned over so that his hand held the edge of her seat. He looked even more golden now if that was possible, the darkness all around made him seem even brighter and her fingers itched uncontrollably for a pencil to draw him.
She realized she wanted to draw him like this, with him looking at her with an expectant look, his golden eyes giving her his full attention.
"So what did you think?" Jace asked.
"When can we do this again?" Clary asked excitedly.
"So I'm guessing this means you liked it?" Jace asked.
"This may be the slight buzz talking" Clary said, remembering she had a few shots, "But yes".
Jace chuckled as he got out of the car, openning the door for her to get out as well. She saw him give the keys to one of the guards and shake the hand of his opponent again as they headed towards Alec, Clary saw the two do that guy hug thing as Jace smirked at Alec, "Go get them" he said.
"Always" Alec responded as walked out.
Clary and Jace stood by the track, waiting to see Alec's game when that earlier thought popped into Clary's brain, and maybe it was the alcohol that gave her the courage to ask, "Can you teach me?"
"What?" Jace asked looking at her.
"Can you teach me how to race?" Clary repeated looking at Jace hopeful.
"It's pretty dangerous actually" Jace said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"I know" Clary nodded.
"And you don't even know how to drive" Jace pointed out.
"I know" Clary repeated, not missing a beat.
"And this place only opens at night" Jace said.
"I figured" Clary nodded.
"And your mom would kill me if she found out" Jace said.
"I don't doubt it" Clary answered with a nod.
Jace licked his lips as he smiled, "Sure, I'll teach you".
"You will?" Clary asked excitedly.
"I will" Jace answered smiling. If he was being honest with himself, he wished she would be interested in it as he was. He was hoping she would want to learn but he didn't actually expect it at all. Maybe him and Clary are more alike than they think. Maybe this is what it is supposed to be like between them. Maybe this way they could...
No!
Jace brushed that thought out of his head. Clary and him agreed they would be just friends for now, and when she changes her mind she will have to make the first move. So until then he will just have to keep those thoughts to himself, no matter how much he wanted to kiss her right about now.
Alec's car crossed the finish line for the third time signaling he just won the race and Clary cheered happily and excitedly with Jace. Even though Alec was an ass sometimes, she was glad he and Jace won.
Alec stepped out of the car cooly, looking unimpressed as if it is all just a part of his everyday routine. Jace and Alec shook hands happily as the broadcaster announced they were the winners.
"Well this is very moving and all" A voice interrupted them and they all turned around to see who it was. Clary saw a guy roughly their age wearing a dark suit and dark blue blazier, his black hair looking freshly cut and short, his sharp features looking almost sinfully beautiful and he also seemed familiar.
"And here I was thinking Raziel already took out the trash tonight" Jace said as he crossed his arms over his chest, raising an eyebrow and looking disinterested.
"Jace, good to see you again" the guy said.
"Azazel, wish I could say the same but I would be lying" Jace said.
Clary's barin clicked at the memory when she recognized the name, and it probably had something to do with her slight buzz but when she figured it out, she couldn't help but blurt "It's the douche".
The douche from the party, from the Lightwood's party at their house all that while back.
The douche, Azazel, looked at her with narrowed eyes, "Jace you still have the same set of lips attatched to your-"
"Watch it, Azazel" Jace said, raising a threatening eyebrow as he puffed himself out and stood in front of Clary, shielding her from Azazel's gaze, "Be very careful what you say".
"Well that's the look of a man in love if I've every seen one" Azazel said. Clary's cheeks blushed as she tried to seem not to pay attention to Azazel's words, like they didn't effect her. She couldn't look Jace in the eye, afraid of what she might see in them. Azazel was crazy, right? How would he know? She didn't know if he was right or not and she didn't know what possibility terrified her more.
"You know Azazel, I really don't have time for you" Jace said with a roll of his eyes.
"Well you should maybe start planning some time, sooner or later we're facing off again" Azazel said.
"Which means we get another chance to win against you two again" Alec said with an annoyed expression, looking completely disinterested in the conversation, "Great, can we go now? I got some celebratory drinks waiting for me".
"He's right, see you around Zaz. And send my hello to Tweedledum and Tweedledee" Jace said with a smirk as he took Clary's hand in his and holding it firmly, tightly, for the first time, his grip on her hand seemed overpowering and demanding, like she couldn't slip her hand away if she wanted to and he pulled her away.
Walking past Azazel, she felt another hand grab her wrist firmly, this hand on her skin gave her chills but for a very different reason, she felt a little appalled by it, annoyed. She turned back to look at Azazel who grabbed her wrist but it was quickly wrenched out and away from her.
She looked wide eyed at Alec who had grabbed Azazel's hand off of her and was pinning him to the nearby wall, his face and front mashed against it as Alec had his arm pinned behind his back with one hand and an arm to his neck.
Clary stared shocked at the scene before her, had Alec done that? For her? She couldn't believe it. Alec Say-I-Hate-You-To-Your-Face Won't-Give-You-A-Chair Lightwood had defended her? He looked beyond angry now as he whispered in Azazel's ear, dangerously, deliberately slow and threatening, he had never looked as scary as he did in that moment, "Never. Try That. Again".
Was that worry on his face? Worry for her safety?
Maybe she was dreaming? Or she was drunk and imagining things? Maybe he thought she was someone else? Or maybe he had gone crazy?
The last one seemed the most plausible to her right now.
That's the only thing she could think of to explain Alec's actions.
Jace's hand in hers tugged again as Alec let go of Azazel and the three left the scene, quickly climbing up the stairs and back to the club, Clary looking between the two guys, who had permenant scowls on their faces but neither said a word to her or to each other.
"So" she started.
"No" Alec simply said, cutting her off.
"Right, gotcha" Clary nodded, Alec wouldn't let someone hurt her but he would never be nice to her about it. She smiled a little secret smile to herself at that. Alec caught her and only glared at her but she couldn't help it or bother dropping her smile.
As they reached the club again, they met up with the rest of their friends who congratulated Alec and Jace on their win, not knowing what just happened with Azazel and since the two didn't mention it, Clary didn't either.
"Chug chug chug chug"
Her firends cheered her on, as Clary chugged at the beer and then she herself cheered loudly jumping up and down at the table as she finished it all in one gulp, "Wooaho".
Clary swayed a little on her feet, getting dizzy and lightheaded, she shook her head thinking that would help her focus but it only made her head spin faster, before she knew it she was losing her footing and her balance on the table, was she falling.
Before her brain could comprehend that her body was falling, the spinning stopped as she felt strong arms wrapping around her small frame, holding her tightly as to not fall. She looked up at her rescuer trying to will her brain to focus when she caught glimpses of gold, she chuckled, she didn't know why she found it funny, "Sorry".
"I think you're drunk" Jace's chuckling silky voice came at her.
Her eyes widened immediately, as she whispered "Don't tell Clary".
Jace didn't waste a second responding in a hushed tone as well, "I won't if you don't".
Clary felt the hard chest under her head and she could smell Jace's scent and she took a good whif before closing her eyes, she was tired and her eyes were begging for sleep, "Clary?" Jace whispered.
"Shsh, sleep" Clary grumbled as she placed her head on Jace's chest. Mmm this is so nice.
"How about I take you home?" Jace said.
"Mmmhmmm"
"I think that was a yes" Sebastian said.
"You can't take her home like that" Isabelle protested.
"Why not?" Jace said as he looked between Isabelle's annoyed face and Maia's and Aline's.
The three girls exchanged looks, before Maia stepped up, licking her lips and trying to reason with Jace "You want to take an unconscious girl out of a club and into your car and drop her home?"
Jace's eyes widened, "What? I would never-"
"We know you wouldn't" Aline interrupted with an eyeroll.
"But how do you think it would look like?" Maia asked.
"What would people say?" Isabelle pointed out.
"I don't care" Jace said with a raised eyebrow, "But what am I supposed to do with her then?"
"Let us sober her up first" Isabelle suggested.
"How are you gonna do that?" Sebastian asked.
"I'm gonna put her head under ice cold water" Isabelle said as if it was the most obvious course of action.
"Are you sure that is-?"
"Positive" Isabelle said interrupting Alec, "Put her down now".
Jace tried to put Clary down but she protested, "No sleep good here" she grumbled against his chest.
"Clary" Maia started with a soft tone as if talking to a child but her voice held enthusiasm, "Want to go put our heads under cold water?"
"Yes" Clary jumped up happily excited as she got to her feet and started following the girls.
The guys started walkingbut Alin stopped them with a firm hand in the air and a raised eyebrow as she said, "Where do you guys think you're going?"
They all exchanged looks before Jace pointed in the direction Isabelle and Clary went in, Aline shook her head "Uh-uh. Stay".
"Woof" Sebastian joked at her retrieving form and she sent him a middle finger without turning her head to look back.
The guys looked at each other with confused expressions for the longest time before finally the girls emerged with a shivering Clary, blonde hair wet from head to tip, sticking to her neck skin and her clothes, her eyelashes wet and dripping over her cheeks as her teeth chattering loudly as her lip was covered with a shade of blue, her arms folding around herself as she shook.
"What did you guys do to her?" Jace asked annoyed as he took off his jacket immediately and put it around Clary's shoulders.
Clary accepted graciously, as she answered Jace's question "Try to kill me". Her eyes seemed more focused now, her tone clear, she was definitely sober now.
"Please don't ever sober me up" Sebastian said.
"Second it" Alec agreed.
"Pansies" Isabelle accused.
"What time is it?" Maia asked suddenly
"Almost two" Aline answered, looking at the time on her phone.
"Almost what?" Clary's eyes widened, she completely lost track of time and forgot that she was supposed to be home now. Worse, that her mother was supposed to be home now.
"Do you want me to drive you home?" Jace asked and Clary nodded. "Okay let's go" Jace said with a nod.
Clary got up hugging the girls all at once, "You guys thank you for tonight, I had so much fun".
"Don't worry, we'll be back sooner than you realize" Maia said, "And hopefully next time we won't drown you".
"Preferably" Clary agreed.
"We'll see you Monday" Isabelle waved goodbye as Clary followed Jace out.
"I'm glad you had fun tonight" Jace said as they started making their way through the crowd of people, Clary slipped her hand in his to not get lost.
"I did, I have no idea how time flew by so quickly" Clary said, "I just hope my mother hasn't come back home yet".
Clary bit her lower lip as they left the club and got into Jace's car which was somehow in the parking lot again, "Okay seriously what is up with this thing? Can your car teleport?"
Jace chuckled, "No but the guards take care of moving it to the track or to the parking lot" Jace said as he got into his seat.
"Oh" was all Clary could say to that, "Jace now that I know you are a racer you will have to race me back home before my mother does".
"How are you sure she isn't there yet?" Jace asked as his car vroomed to life.
"Because I would be dead" Clary answered chuckling as if it was obvious as Jace started driving her back home.
"Are you cold?" Jace asked as he turned the heat in the car, Clary pulled her legs into the chair, holding onto Jace's jacket that smelled like him. She tried to take a whif of it without being caught. It smells so nice.
"Thank you" Clary said with a smile as she wiped the water from her cheek. A sudden question that had been bugging her all night crossed her mind again, "Hey Jace?"
"Yeah?"
"What was up with that Azazel guy?" Clary asked and she watched as Jace's features hardened.
"Nothing, he's just one of the competitors at the game, he doesn't like that I beat him. Last time he cheated to win the race, paid off the broadcaster and Raziel pulled him out of the game temporarily and he blamed me for that" Jace explained.
"Why did he blame you?"
"Because I was the one who found out and told Raziel" Jace said and Clary nodded in understanding, "How's your wrist?"
Clary looked down at her wrist self cautiously, which had a red mark forming on it. She rubbed it soothingly, she hadn't even noticed it, it didn't hurt compared to what she's been through. "Oh it's nothing, it doesn't hurt at all".
Jace's hand took her own as he caressed the skin on her wrist in soothing circular patterns, his touch leaving delightful shivers in its wake, his eyes switching from the road to her and back to the road. "You should stay away from him at all costs".
"Don't worry Jace he's not gonna-"
"You don't know what he's capable of, just.. please stay away from him?" Clary looked up at Jace, shocked at the sincere tone and pleading gaze of his, like he needed her to stay away from this guy.
Clary wanted so badly to just nod and tell him that yes obviously she would stay away from this guy, but she couldn't, something inside of her twitched at that thought. She wasn't scared of Azazel, she wasn't scared of anyone, all her training with Luke made sure she could take care of herself so she never had to fear anyone again and so she angrily wrenched her hand away from his touch as she bit out "I'm not afraid of him. I can take care of myself".
"I didn't say you couldn't" Jace narrowed his eyes.
"No you just implied it" Clary said annoyed, "I'm not afraid of him".
"You should be" Jace said, growing more annoyed, "What's the deal with you? Do you want to see him again?"
"No"
"Then what's the problem, why can't you just stay away from him?"
"It's not about that" Clary shook her head annoyed, "Not about him. I can take care of myself Jace and I won't be afraid of him or anyone else".
"Clary you don't know what this guy is capable of" Jace said annoyed.
"You don't know what I am capable of" Clary countered.
"Why is it so difficult for you to just see sense? You don't have to be stubborn about every single thing" Jace growled.
"Pot, kettle, have we met?" Clary said with a grin.
"Clary" Jace bit out annoyed as he sighed heavily, his car had reached her driveway but both of them hadn't been paying it much attention.
"I'm not weak" Clary said with narrowed eyes, "I don't need you or anoyone else protecting me because I am not scared of anything".
Jace stopped for a second taking back, giving himself and Clary a second to breathe as he took in what she said. He hadn't meant to imply that she was weak, in fact that was the farthest thing from his mind, he started talking again, more softly this time, "I don't think you are weak".
Clary was taken back by the sudden change of demeanor, she looked at Jace over wondering what he was thinking right now? Did he think she was crazy now? Or maybe he thought she was a breakable toy, ready to explode at any time so he had to be careful with her. Clary looked away from him, not wanting to see that in his eyes. "I don't need you to worry about me".
Jace tensed again, her comment taking him back, why can't he worry about her? "Why not?"
"Because I can-"
"Take care of yourself, I get it" Jace interrupted, "But that doesn't mean I won't worry about you".
"I don't need you to" Clary said annoyed.
"Well it's not your choice as much as it isn't mine" Jace bit out. It wasn't his choice really, to worry about her or to care about her but it just happened and now he cares about her and can't help himself. It wasn't his choice, it just happened.
Clary sighed annoyed, "Why can't anyone ever believe in me?" she seemed to be talking to herself more than to Jace. She bit back the bitter taste in her mouth. Everyone thought of her as weak, her mom, her father and now her friends too. She never expected Jace to be just another who believed her incapable of taking care of herself. She opened her door, slamming it aggressively behind her as she headed inside the house.
As her hand reached the front door, two arms shot from behind her, slamming against the door on either side of her head, stopping her and she turned around sharply, "That's not what this is Clary" Jace yelled out.
"Oh yeah, then what is it?" Clary said with sarcasm as she crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against the door. They were both standing so close now, both their angers radiating off of them creating a thick tension.
"The thought of him hurting you because of me kills me, Clary. Is that what you want to hear?" Jace yelled out, breathing hard "Can you understand that?"
Clary froze up, she knew Jace had cared about her, but she had thought it was a simple attraction. Could it be more than that? Could he actually care about her the way she did him? She kept thinking that his attraction to her would fade, because why wouldn't it? She thought she was the only one who felt this way. Could it be more than just one sided?
Clary shook that thought away, his worries may be because he cared about her. But it was because she cared about him, because she cared what he thought that she hated to seem weak in his eyes, "I can take care of myself".
"I fucking know that, Clary, but I don't want you to be put in a position where you have to because of me. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?" Jace said, the same annoyance in his tone.
Clary chewed the inside of her cheek, what could she tell him? Sorry I am emotionally damaged and I can't accept that? She thought that wouldn't go over well. So she stayed quiet as she looked into his eyes, his golden intense eyes staring her down. "Jace" she finally let out, her anger washing away.
That's what she was doing too, isn't it? She wanted to keep Jace away from him at all costs so what was so different between them? He wanted to keep her safe so he wants her to stay away from Azazel, and she wants to keep him safe so she needs to push him away.
Can you understand that? Jace's voice echoes in her brain.
More than you know. She wanted to say.
"Just.. promise me you'll stay away from him?" his pleading tone shook her, she couldn't help it. She gulped down nodding quietly, her intense gaze holding his own, "I promise".
Jace nodded, his arms falling from the door behind her, their gazes still interlocked, "I should go before your mother gets back".
Clary nodded and started to take off his jacket before a hand clasped around her own, "Keep it" Jace said.
As Jace started to walk away, "Jace" Clary called out to him one last time, "Thank you for tonight, I know you took a chance on me so thanks". She couldn't see his face as he was turned around and facing the car but she saw him nod and heard him echo a "Goodnight" and if she wasn't mistaken there was a hint of a smile in there, which brought a smile to her own lips.
"Goodnight" Clary said too as she watched him go, taking a deep breath. She rushed back inside. It was so weird her mother wasn't home yet, it was almost three now, she has never stayed out this late if it wasn't for work, she figured things with Luke must have been going good.
She headed to her room and quickly took off her wig and changed into her pj's, taking care of setting Jace's jacket on her chair to dry from her wet hair. She looked at it one more time and smiled as she smelled it again. Why was his scent so intoxicating?
She was going down for a snack when she heard Luke's car outside her house.
Shit, shit, shit. She was supposed to be in bed, what to do now?
Her front door opened and Clary closed her eyes and rubbed one of them with her hand faking tiredness, she let out a fake yawn as she saw her mother, "Mom?"
"Clary, I am so sorry I was late, Luke and I lost track of time and.. oh honey were you scared alone?" her mother asked.
"No I'm fine, I was sleeping just got up for water" Clary said slowly as she kept her eyes narrowed.
"Oh I'm sorry" her mother said.
"Good, I expect better from you next time" Clary said teasingly, "I'm heading up now".
"Okay honey, goodnight" her mother said as Clary climbed up the stairs, cursing mentally for not getting herself a snack. Once she was in her room, she realized she couldn't sleep now, there was something else on her mind. She pulled out her sketch book as she pulled her hair into a bun, grabbing a pencil and she started drawing.
A/N: Hey guys hope you liked this chapter so anyways, I won't hold you much longer, I'll see you in the next chapter.
