Chapter 5: The Bright Tulle Of Love

The quiet calm of 11 is was serene for Erza, but not enough to steady her.

Ever since she woke up, like a continuous toddler crashing a car into your foot, her thoughts were restless and have been ramming into her brain. She's tried to relieve herself of the pain by taking up household chores, but nothing's been helping all that well.

She hasn't received her daily task this morning from Lucy, and believe her, she's checked her phone every second. Erza also made sure to check if her phone was on silent, which, it wasn't.

She knew it wasn't healthy, to become this obsessive, as studies have shown it's detrimental to one's hea-

Ding.

Erza pivoted around, immediately running to her phone like a caveman to his newest kill. It was from Lucy. The red-head opened her phone, clicked on Lucy's contact, and read the message. She nodded in understanding, grabbed her things, and fled the buildings.

The little town was bustling with people, animals, and birds going about their daily lives. It was nothing special, nothing new- so why exactly was she sent here?

Erza climbed out of her car, apprehension running through her body like blood. She started to second guess if this was a good idea, and why the hell she decided to trust her friend's girlfriend -someone she doesn't know. And usually, she the precautions one!

She rechecked the text from Lucy, vigilant to reread every punctuation and word; one of the things she could appreciate about Lucy was her crafty word choice. She guesses it comes from being a writer. That and her perfect grammar.

Once she was she was satisfied with her work, she brushed out her red summer dress, and stepped out of the car, looking to the town like a man on a mission. She, with determination, headed to the specified rendezvous point.

She arrived rather quickly.

A person greeted her at the door of the music store, escorting her to the back. While heading back, the employee dramatically showed off the glinting instruments; Erza ooed politely, and instead, enjoying the dull hue of polished wood of the violin. When she is done with the task, she'll immediately buy that violin.

They finished their short journey and then went inside the break room. It was colorful and light and with good vibes -reminding Erza of a hippie's joint. It was nice though, and Erza felt at home along with the bright, gliding tulles.

She guessed it was made by the employees, and, like her own break room at the workplace, was most likely made without permission from the boss. It was most likely was, considering how elaborately and dramatically decorated -in contrast to the usual requirements of a break room.

The employee then moved to a wooden chest over by the vending machine, bent down, and opened it quietly. Erza was too blinded by the lights to see anything far away, so she was left guessing what the mystery item was. Soon enough, the employee came back, handing a book off to her. And then, nodded to her phone.

Erza was right, it was a giant scam.

She immediately placed a hand on her phone protectively, and shook her head. The employee raised an eyebrow and held out their hand. The redhead curved her lips sourly, a voice nagging at her to get the hell out of here. Once they saw she wasn't budging, they stomped their foot.

They got out their own phone -now holding the book under their arm- and presumably texted someone their predicament. After a few seconds, Erza's phone rang out in a default ring. She checked her screen, seeing a text from Lucy. Erza's eyes widened in surprise.

Lucy (11:44 am): Erza, it's fine. I called them up this morning to give you mystery boy's present.

She looked back to the employee, sincerely apologizing. The employee nodded with understanding, a arm through their raven hair. They held out the book quietly and she took it, running off with it like a chipmunk with a rare acorn in wintertime.

The employee then sighed and went to their phone. It was going to be a long journey if she's going to put up a fight every time she gets a task.

Me (11:47 am): She got her present. Honestly, it took forever. Lucy (11:50 pm): Relax, Gray. She justhas some trust issues, that's all.Me (11:50 pm): Hmh, well, I'll see you later Lucy.Lucy (11:51 pm): Bye Gray.

Gray stared off after Erza, glinting with a thoughtful smile. If this is the girl Natsu wants to get, how come they're so unrelated?

Once Erza found shelter in her car, she popped open the book.

It was relatively long, about 400 pages, of the Sci-Fi genre. The cover was horrendously depicting a woman getting captured by aliens, with more hordes of aliens being the leader. Erza narrowed her eyes in thought. So mystery boy likes the science fiction genre?

The book was in mostly well condition, despite it smelling musty; some pages had spots of stains, and they crinkled as you turned them. And it was definitely well-read, and much loved.

To her surprise, when she flipped open the cover, there was a name -scribbled out, of course- with Lucy's name at the top. It looked it was a gift for Lucy to mystery boy for his birthday or something. She, once again, answered her own question when, at the bottom, she saw "Enjoy your 20th Birthday" signature in glorious script- again, most likely Lucy.

This leads Erza to one of three conclusions: 1) He enjoys Science Fiction -something Erza can definitely get behind. 2) Enjoys music and works at a music store. And number three, over 20. Which is good, considering Erza was in her mid-twenties.

She sighed with relief as she held the book in her arms; out of all the things she's dreamt of in her entire life, finding a cute mystery boy, and going into a romantic pining game wasn't one of them.

"I can't wait to find you, mystery boy." She said, fondly.

And, there's chapter three! Hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you in the next chapter! Bye~!
