Chapter 6: A Brand New Violin
Lucy was immediately running to her phone after hearing the ding.
And, to her delight, she received a photo of Erza, holding the Sci-Fi book Lucy set up in their break room. She squealed with excitement and leaped up in the air.
Juvia, who was sitting at the counter, raised her eyebrows in question. "What happened, Lucy-Kun?" She asked, sipping her tea. Lucy cursed internally, not realizing Juvia had no idea about the pining game. She turned around slyly, weighing her love's reaction accordingly, and put on a sheepish face.
"Well, I- uh, initiated something... that sounds very wrong..." Lucy bit on her nails, sheepishly averting her eyes from Juvia. The mentioned woman looked confused. "It does sound very wrong. So, what happened, Luce?" Juvia stepped closer. A phone ding ruined her stature, and Lucy grabbed her phone in her ecstatic state. She completely ignored Juvia by all means and typed back to Erza.
"Sorry, Juves, I gotta go. Love you!" She quickly grabbed her purse off of the metal hook, threw open the door, and headed out. Juvia heard the roar of the engine outside and a minute later, silence. The blunette exhaled tiredly; it was hard to deal with Lucy sometimes.
Erza heard the slam of the car door outside and scrambled to the window. She peered outside, hoping to catch a peek of Lucy. Once she pied the moving, blurry, blonde mass making its way up the stone path, she walked to the door, and let her in.
"Ah, good afternoon, Erza-chan!" She threw open her arms and tackled the red-head in a big hug. Erza tensed from the sudden contact, but soon relented and welcomed the hug. Lucy peeled herself after a few seconds. "Good afternoon as well, Lucy-chan. How are you?", She asked politely, gesturing to Lucy's shoes. The blonde took them off and put them by the door.
"I'm wonderful. So, what is your task?" She asked. Erza fetched the boiling tea on the stove, pouring two mugs for each. Lucy gratefully nodded and cautiously sipped the tea. Lucy fished her phone out of her bottomless pocket in her jeans. She set herself up.
"I plan on... _" Erza explained, with a smile. She vividly explained her task, much to Lucy's amazement. It was a cool concept, she wasn't going to lie. Though doing something so personal so early in the game wasn't a good idea; best to leave him in the dark. "Ok, I love the idea but maybe not do something personal," Lucy suggested.
Erza frowned. She rested her arms on the couch arms, dissatisfied with Lucy's verdict. "Oh ok, I mean, I don't mind. What do you suggest I do instead?" She asked, on edge. Lucy appeared thoughtful for a second then had a eureka. "What about..., _. ," Lucy suggested. The red-head scrunched her features to survey the idea, and after five minutes, nodded.
"Sweet! I'm so glad you think it's ok. I just hope you're not too mad I switched _ with _..." She bit her nails. Erza launched herself forward to comfort her. "It's ok, I understand. I just hope he enjoys it." Erza smiled softly.
"Yeah, me too."
Natsu waved them off, like always, with a smile and a simple wave. The customer reciprocated their greeting and ran off with their gift.
He exhaled, exhausted beyond belief; it was a long, drifting day. As most days are at work. Natsu eyed his fellow employer, busy at work. He seemed lost in his world as he diligently stocked the shelves. Unlike Natsu, who was having trouble focusing at all.
"Excuse me, sir, but could you please ring these up." Natsu looked to the source of the voice and was surprised to see his best friend Lucy. She only carried one thing to cover up her disguise, a violin.
"Sure, miss. Cash or credit." He said. Lucy fished into her purse to find her wallet, but her eyes trained on Natsu. Once she found it, she handed it over and waited. The other patrons around her shifted awkwardly, uncomfortable with how this woman was acting. Natsu nodded to Lucy, gesturing towards the patrons, and consoled them it was fine.
Though many doubting thoughts may keep them from their beliefs, they still held and nodded understandingly. Lucy passed over her credit card as payment with a little slip of paper huddled with the card. Intrigued, Natsu turned it over to find a beautiful, dramatic script outlining a new task.
Natsu looked over wide-eyed at Lucy, but she smiled then winked. He could feel himself burst with energy; it was one step closer to finding the mystery girl! Lucy gently shoved the violin towards Natsu -who didn't quite notice, because he's in lalaland- and crept out.
Let me say, first off, how sorry I am. I know this was supposed to be posted on Friday, but I found myself going down the Dangaronpa rabbit hole... meaning, I started finishing DV3. And now I'm obsessed.
However! I do have good news! A new story of mine will be coming out earlier than expected, and will be making its debut in two weeks! I'm very excited to share it, as it's one of my favorite stories I've ever written, but I'm very excited.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed it; a new chapter will be coming out on Saturday. Have a good day/night, stay safe, take care of yourself, and I'll see you all later! Bye~!
