Disclaimer: I don't own Star Wars.
Time-line: Six months after Naboo.
Chapter 2: A Day of Contemplation
It was early. Earlier than her usual morning, and yet... she felt well rested. Sighing, Rae stood and went about her usual morning routine. She'd just pulled on her jacket when she gave a little laugh and shrugged it back off. "It's my day off," she said, hanging her jacket on its hook. Her boots went back on the rack by the door and she made her way back into the kitchen for another cup of tea. She sighed, breathing in the scent of her favorite blend, before sinking down to sit cross legged on one of the two large pillows she'd bought for the two Jedi in her life to use for meditation when they came over. Now, sitting on it, sipping her tea, Rae decided to give meditation a try as she finally felt she had a moment to truly sit and breath. She cast her mind back to when she first arrived in the Star Wars universe, six months ago.

Fear. Pain. Loss. Hysteria. Fangirling. Fear. Calm. Amusement. Loss. Grief. Hope.
/*/
She frowned at the resurgence of emotions. That... hadn't been what she wanted with this little experiment. Taking a sip, she cast her mind back, specifically looking for the beginnings of a plan she may have had back then.
/*/
Live. Survive. Help. Help Anakin. Help Obi-Wan. Training. War? Fear. Live first, help second, stay out of the war. Can't do anything anyway. Normal human still. Be a friend but don't get involved, want to live.

Another slow sip of her cooling tea. Yeah, that sounded about right. But... could she stick to that outline? Could she just... live her life? These weren't just characters in a story anymore, they were her friends. Could she really just... quietly support them from the sidelines? Without even trying to change the course of the War? Or... should she try to stop it? Theoretically, it was possible. Tell the Jedi and the Senate about the real reason she spread the word not to vote Vallorum out and Palpatine in during the Blockade and... no. While it might be possibly for the Jedi to defeat Palpatine, his plots and traps were too well laid and, honestly, the Republic and Jedi Order had stagnated and begun to rot. Oh, it was slow and was still at a point where it could be cut out but... That was assuming her word would be taken as truth. No, if she wanted to out Palpatine as Darth Sidious, she was going to need solid proof and plenty of it. And if she wanted to fully end the Clone Wars, she was going to need to take care of Count Dooku, Ventress, and the Banking Clans. Possibly the Trade Federation as well. The Hutts were an enduring evil that could be dealt with after the poisonous snake had been beheaded and the festering rot had been burned away.
Wait.
What was she thinking!?
Was she really considering... Obi-Wan's face after the Duel on Mustafar came to mind. Anakin's hateful bellow and pained gaze, a sickly corrupted yellow. Her eyes snapped open and she shakily raised her mug to her lips, only to taste the despair of cold tea. She sighed and set her cup aside, resting her elbows on her knees and her forehead on her fists.
Yes. She was. She had to at least attempt to stop that. She sighed and stood, shaking the pins and needles from her legs from having sat cross legged for so long.
"If I'm going to be gathering evidence to back up what I Know, then I'm going to need a very specific set of skills," she muttered to herself. The two that came immediately to mind were stealth and hacking, or as they called it here 'splicing.' A glance at the clock and she called the one person she felt would be able to teach her at least one of those skills. "Jazz? How are you with computers?" she asked.
(The low thrumming at the back of her mind took on an almost approving tone and the buzz of Coruscant lulled her to sleep that night.)

A/N: So... I felt like Rae needed a clearer goal, to actually understand what she's doing. This is an attempt to make the Mary Sue more human. Her flaws are in her personality rather than her skills and abilities. At this point, she hasn't realized that nine times out of ten, she's going to succeed at what she tries... as long as it doesn't conflict with a Fixed Point.
