AngelFallenDemon - I'm happy you like the story so far. Yes, I've been thinking about it too, what the powers should be like. To be honest I thought of making him into tiger, but decided to make it a bit more complicated.
Here's the new chapter, hope you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 2
KAEMON VILLAGE!
Zoro couldn't believe his eyes! He's back! He's back once again! The village of his past, bearing so much memories within it.
Even though it wasn't his hometown, Kaemon village was related with his family, more than any other island except his hometown, for generations. It's jungles contain the source of the powers only his family could find and possess. Why only them, he wasn't sure, it was lost in the history. He only knew the legends his father told him.
It was the place where the men from his family came, when they reached the age of twenty-one and started feeling "pulls" of their powers - accompanied by headaches, fevers and breathing difficulties - to hold the ritual named The Recieve, needed to fully get hold of the abilities. The Recieve is essential. Without it the man's body will corrupt and the powers would take on darker, obscurer shades and in the end absorb him, killing him or making a monster out of him. When The Recieve is done right, the man will obtains abilities, powers and features of another being, most likely of some kind of animal or plant, depending on how strong the pulls and the man himself are. The being would walk by his side in it's natural form and concect with him when when necessary. Zoro's father had one of the strongest - a lion. Zoro also still remembers Zayelle's - his older brother's - ritual. He was really excited about it, maybe even more then Zay himself.
He thought he would never see this place again. And now that he's starting to feel the pulls of his powers, he's returned.
'This is like fate...but when I think about it now, it's possible that my pulls started because the island's being close.' Zoro wondered. 'This is great, now i can do The Recieve and-...no wait, what am I thinking, like it would be that easy. My family's...gone...and I have no idea of what happened after I was forced to escape. The monk in charge of the rituals might be long gone now. I should be carefull, one never knows who might be able to recognize me and-
"HEY~! Earth to the Marimo~! Don't think so much, you'll hurt yourself. I already see some smoke, coming out of your ears." Sanji called, as he waved his hand in front of Zoro's face, efectively disturbing his musings.
"Ha!? What do you want, curly-brow!?" Zoro replied, annoyed. "Can't live one minute without my attention, ero-cook?"
"HA!? What crawled up your ass and died!?" Sanji defended, turning to him fully, lifting his leg.
"The same thing to whom you owe for that dartboard of an eyebrow." Zoro growled, griping Wado's hilt.
"Carefully, I heart that marimo barbecue is a big trend on this Island, piss me off and I'll make some money out of your useless moss-head."
"Humpf, l doubt that. Your brain is too small for such a complycated schemes."
"Not as small as the thing in your pants, Marimo."
"BASTARD! I'LL KILL YOU!"
"With that needle of yours, swordsman? My turn to doubt you."
"NOW you did it fucker!!!"
"Hey, hey! Calm down idiots, we only just docked, don't make fuse or I'll higher your depts!" Nami yelled at them.
"Yes~, my angel~, whatever you say I'll do~" swooned Sanji with hearts shaped eyes, even managing to produce little ones all around.
Zoro ignored him and turned back to face the town, arms resting on the railing, falling back into his train of thoughts.
They made a list of things they needed done and separated to groups. Sanji was to restock food supplies, with Chopper and Brook going with him to help carry the bags. Franky and Usopp went to find some crafting tools they needed and Robin with Nami decided to go shopping for clothes, maps and books, then find a hotel. That left Luffy on shipwatch, alone, which was a situation, no one liked (Luffy less so, he was eager go discovery-expedition on the new island, what Nami promptly refused, saing they had to stay here at least two weeks for Log Pose to set on the next island and if he caused problems the first thing after arriving, he was to be on shipwatch whole two weeks), so they decided to leave Zoro with him, on "luffywatch". He didn't mind though, it was better that way for now.
"AaaAAahhh~... I'm hungry~...Zooroo~ help me~ feed me~...hungry~...and booored~...play with meeee~~..."
The eternal whimpers of his rubber captain was begining to give Zoro murder thoughts. He wanted to stay on the ship, SHOULD stay on the ship, but if he listened to Luffy's cries for a while longer, he would have to leave it anyway, to hide the body - or what's left of it. He knew Luffy was clever and keen leader when it was needed, but otherwise he could be really childish. Zoro tried to talk to him, to get him to SHUT THE FUCK UP, but the others took too long and the food that they had in stock wasn't clearly enough.
Now Luffy was unstopable.
Zoro decided to go now or never. He needed some fresh air, he wasn't feeling good, his head hurts and his body was once hot - once cold. Also he should go and do some research about where the monk could be, also about what happened with his homeland while he was gone. He didn't look forward to that one.
" Luffy!! I'm going on a walk." Zoro called. He went to the boys' cabin, stripped off his green coat, shivering when the cold air came to contact with his naked feverish skin, grabbed black, ankle-length, sleeveless wool-cape from his drawer, dressed and when he wrapped his black bandana around his heat he put the hood on, shadowing his face.
"Tell the others I'll be right back." he added as he got on the deck and walked over to the railing.
Luffy looked up. "Okaay~ If you m...Woah, Zoro! Why are you dressed like a thief?"
"My clothes are all drenched in sweat, this was the first thing I grabed."
"Oh, is that so? By the way, are you okay? You look a bit pale and sweaty."
"Yeah, all fine and jumpy." Zoro assured as he hopped off the ship to the docks.
"Hmm...if you say so...See ya." he yelled after Zoro.
"See ya." Zoro said back as he headed to the village.
to be continued...
