Chapter 3

"See ya." Zoro said back as he headed to the village.

Everything surrounding him was slightly familiar, prickling at the back of his mind, awakening fragments and pieces of memories like when you try to light candles in a dark room. The scents of the local food like fruits, bowls of strange azure-blue colored soup, pouchs of yellow jelly sweets or richly spiced grilled pieces of carmine-red meat. The cords with drying laundry hanging above the open-air market from one building to another opposite of it.The lanterns and chains of lights hanging everywhere around him. The loud, happy laughter of little kids, scurrying around the stalls with merchandise, playing games like he used to back then.

Zoro had to admit it felt good to be here once again.

Right now he needed to get to the main plaza though. There was something he wanted to do before anything else and decided to go via one of the market-filled streets. He could go thrue one of the less crowded ones, but somewhow his usual solitary self was pushed away by the pleasurable feelings that filled his heart upon the sight of the familiar stalls and diminutive shops.

So here he was, shuffling among the crowd, unwaveringly making his way to the plaza, ignoring all the yells and shouts of salesmen, trying to lure him into buying some of their goods.

As he neared his destination the crowd diluted and the number of salesmen, stalls and stands decreased, 'till he completely left them behind. The path narrowed and then merged into big round area, consisting of rows of potted trees, decorated with lanterns and the clocktower in its center. It was surrounded by wooden benches, street lamps and shops, occupying lower floor or the buildings. The plaza itself wasn't so crowded as the market, only a few people - mostly couples - were wandering under the trees, sitting on the benches or shopping in some of the stores.

Zoro took some time to enjoy the view, before leisurely walking along the line of shops, reading various name tags bearing the stores names, searching for particular one. He came across flower shops, bookstores, clothes shops and some others, 'till he finaly found the one he was looking for.

YORU BAZAAR

-Antiquities And Home Accessories

The swordsman smirked fondly - the name tag is still the same, even after all those years. Some things never change, huh...

He stepped closer to the stores display and looked inside the store full of different kinds of merchandise, his eyes wandering around for a while before finding what he was looking for. The scene that was offered to him had his heart flutter like a bird trapped in a cage and his breath to catch on his throat.

There, inside, behind the counter was young woman with deeply tanned chocolate skin, short, dark brown, almost black hair, full lips and honey colored eyes. She was dressed in black harem pants and navy blue tank top. She seemed to be cleaning some prettily decorated wooden jewel-boxes with a piece of rag. Her face looked distant, lost in thoughts.

Zoro clenched and unclenched his hands at his sides. Yes, he came here looking for her, but still, when she's finaly here, standing right in front of him...it felt so...surreal.

He slowly paces towards the bazaar, ascends three stairs leading to the door and enters.

A bell rang and the woman lifted her head from her work to look at the new client. "Welcome," she said with a polite smile. "How can I help you?"

The man moves leisurely to stand in the middle of the room. She couldn't see his face clearly, because of the hood casting shadow over it and the black bandana on his head, but...she couldn't help but feel somehow...familiar about him...like she met him somewhere, or as if he reminded her of someone...it was making her insides churn, making her restless...

"Um...excuse me sir, but...d-do I know you?" she asked with unsure voice, her gaze glued to the mans face.

His hands slowly moved up and grasped the hem of the hood, pulling it down, then taking of the black bandana...

He lifted his face and their eyes locked.

Her hands started shaking, dropping the wooden jewel-box on the counter with a dull "thud".

She began to back away, her eyes wide with shock, shaking her head in disbelieve.

'This...' she thought, covering her mouth with her hands 't-this isn't real...thi-this is impossible...he can't be-...'

"...zorodom?..." she whispers softly, afraid that if she talks any louder he might disappear.

Tears of joy appeared in his eye, as he smiled genuinely and said:

" Savannah "

The moment her name lefts his lips, she moves.

Savannah jumped over the counter right into his open arms hugging him tightly, almost knocking him to the ground.

"ZORODOM!" she cries into his shoulder. "You-you're alive! You're right here and you're alive! I-I thought you're dead, I thought-...I thought I lost you forever that night!!! But how!? And where have you been all the time!?...Oh Zorodom, I missed you so much!"

He bits his lip and squeezes her firmly. " me too, we have a lot to talk about..."

"Yes, we do, but first lets stay like this for a little bit." she states, rubbing his back lovingly.

Zoro nods and buries his face in the crook of her neck, leting the tears he was holding back fall, soakind his old friends clothes.

"I'm back."
