Let's start with the story, shall we?*
Chapter 21
"Wah! She did it! She got fourth place! That was amazing! She practically flew through the entire thing!" Rinako bounced as she shook Akira by her shoulders, the dark hair female sipping her juice despite the vigorous movement.
Rinako hadn't stopped with her shaking ever since Mizuki came out from the tunnel with a big smug look on her face. She even laughed. Having to see her this carefree and full of enjoyment had both of them excited. Though, Akira would never admit it.
"Yeah, as expected from Mizuki. The others in her class are insane though. Especially, my boy, in particular," Akira sighed in a dreamy tone as she relaxed in Rinako's grip. She stared at Shoto, hearts dancing in her eyes.
"Speaking of boys, the redhead made it as well! He's in the top ten! Did you see how he broke through that robot? It was amazing! I hate to admit it but Mizuki has good taste," Rinako said and Akira chuckled.
"I agree. Who would've thought?" Akira was finally released from Rinako's grip, the blonde pulling out her own slush puppy to finish. She had been freaking out for the past two weeks about watching the festival, her childish excitement bothering a lot of people except Akira who was used to her.
"I'm a little concerned about Mizuki," Akira said, her brows furrowing and Rinako raising an eyebrow. "When she finished the second obstacle, she slowed her pace drastically and nearly fell behind. I wonder if she's still struggling with the backlash of her injuries."
"Huh? You think so? I hadn't even noticed!" Rinako said in a tone of disbelief as she observed her friend standing indifferently with her hands pocketed. "Shouldn't she go see a nurse about it then? I mean, won't it worsen her performance?"
"Probably or probably not. Mizuki's too stubborn for her own good. She knows that she's still unwell but she's still not backing off," Akira said and sighed in defeat. "That girl. When it comes to things like these, she's exactly like her brother."
Rinako giggled. "That's what makes Mizuki, Mizuki, right?" Rinako pointed out and drank her icy drink. Akira snickered with a nod. At least they won't have a boring time by watching the first year stage.
"Gah! Brain freeze!"
"Idiot! Don't finish it in one go!"
Mizuki frowned deeply, her thoughts running around rapidly in her mind as she stared at her childhood friend. Initially, she had faith that he would share everything with her in a later stage and trusted him. Now, however, she felt differently.
Toshinori sat next to Thirteen on the platform where the hero course teachers sat. Mizuki never saw him at the school before. Ever. There was one thing that was bugging and driving her insane. She needed one vital piece of information to connect all the dots.
"Mizuki! Well done! Damn, you got fourth!" Eijiro called from behind her, Mizuki turning to face him. Speaking of things that she needed clarity on. The redhead came running towards her with a pout on his lips.
"I got behind by the second obstacle course, my Quirk not any help to get passed The Fall," he said with a small smile. He found that Mizuki was merely staring at him, not reacting or saying anything to him.
"Are you-""Eijiro." His eyes widened when she used his name. It was the very first time that she said his name. Unfortunately, she said it in a low and serious tone of voice that made him swallow thickly.
"After I take the next round, we need to have a little chat. Don't even think of running off," Mizuki told him and he stared at her with a nervous expression. Mizuki then walked off, the redhead left alone with his thoughts.
He had an idea what she wanted to talk to him about. He ignored her and dodged any possible conversations with her to focus on the festival. He also didn't want to put himself in a difficult situation when it came to her. He thought after two days he would feel better but he felt worse.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Mizuki glanced up to see a familiar grey-haired male walk towards her, her red eyes giving him an unimpressed look. She didn't have time to deal with any type of idiots and he was undeniably one of them.
"What do you want?" Mizuki was blunt and cut him off, the male sticking in his tracks. He felt his mouth run dry, the crimson orbs staring at him looking through his soul. He could feel his heart give a squeeze and had to look away.
"W-Well done in getting fourth place! Y-You were very manly out there!" He complimented and Mizuki raised an eyebrow. His way of speaking reminded her of Eijiro, her mood becoming fouler at the thought.
"Whatever," she grunted and moved passed him, the male's eyes widened when he smelled the faintness of cinnamon and firewood. He felt his heart shoot out of his chest and pressed his lips together tightly.
She smells nice too!
Mizuki went to stand next to her brother who was fuming, yet not saying anything. He felt his sister next to him and her calmness put out a piece of the fire inside him. Strange. He would never understand how only her presence calmed him down.
"You won this round. Don't think I'll let you win the next," Mizuki told him and Katsuki found himself chuckling darkly. Despite the fact that he lost to Izuku and Icy-Hot, he won his sister and he wasn't going to back down now.
"I'll crush you along with the others, MizukI!" Katsuki snapped at her, Mizuki lazily looking at her brother as he grinned. She felt her lips involuntarily twitch up in a smirk and gave him a playful shove with her elbow.
"Oh, shut up," Mizuki murmured and found herself feeling a bit better. Physically, the nausea subsided and she didn't have any after effects of the vertigo. Emotionally? She didn't have time to think about it.
"The first game of the first-year stage is finally over. Take a look at the results!" Midnight announced, pulling her glasses up and seductively touched her lips. The screen behind her paged up, showing position one to 42.
"The top 42 made it through to the next round. It's unfortunate, but don't worry even if you didn't make it! We've prepared other chances for you to shine. The real competition begins next! The press cavalry will be all over it! Give it your all!" She stated and licked her lips as she hit with her whip.
A holographic screen appeared behind her once again. "Now then, here's the second game. I already know what it is, but what could it be? What could it be? Here it is… Cavalry battle!" She said and Mizuki smirked.
Perfect.
"Let me explain. The participants can form teams of two to four people as they wish. It's basically the same as a regular cavalry battle, but the one thing that's different is…based on the results of the last game each person has been assigned a point value," Midnight explained.
"Mm, in other words, each team is worth different points depending on who's on the team!" Ochaco concluded and Mizuki hummed in thought. The point system was much like the entrance exam's point system.
Midnight growled and slammed her whip on the ground. "You guys don't hold back even though I'm talking, huh?!" She snapped and Mizuki chuckled at the female's raging temper. "Yes, that's right! The points assigned go up by five starting from the bottom and the point value assigned to first place is… Ten million!"
The atmosphere dropped drastically, the shock brief and quick to be replaced by a heavy burden that was put on Izuku's shoulders. She could practically see it weighing him down, everyone's predatory eyes looking at him.
Isn't that a little too much? Mizuki thought and chuckled. It was U.A. The only down fall was that Izuku wasn't used to being at the top. He wasn't used to the pressure that was being poured onto him and it made him an easy target for everyone.
"Those at the top will suffer more. You'll hear this many times as you attend U.A. This is what 'Plus Ultra' means! Izuku Midoriya, who placed first in the qualifier, is worth ten million points!" She clarified, Izuku swallowing hard against the gazes of those around him.
"Let's start with the explanation! The time limit is fifteen minutes! As you know, each team is worth the total of its member's points and the riders will wear a headband with that number on their foreheads. Teams will try to grab each other's headbands until time runs out, and try to keep as many points as they can," she continued.
"Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up. The more you steal, the harder it's be to manage them! The most important thing is that even if your headband gets stolen, or if your teal falls, you're not out," Midnight said and Mizuki crossed her arms over her chest.
There would be about ten to twelve teams in the field the entire time who were all trying to steal the top points. Most of the teams were aiming for the ten million which would make it easier to snatch their points, seeing as they would let their guards down.
Even so, Mizuki was going for large numbers. That meant she was going to have to go up against her brother and Shoto. This was the one stage that she wasn't going to go after Izuku. She made that decision the moment he was put on the Ten Million Points pedestal.
"During the game, it'll be a cruel fight where you can use your Quirks but it is still a cavalry battle. You'll get a red card for attacks that are trying to male people fall on purpose! You'll be removed immediately!" She elaborated and had both the twins click their tongue.
"Now, you have fifteen minutes to build your teams! Start!"
Mizuki was practically tackled by a bunch of people from her class, Sato, Shoji, Jiro and a few others trying to get her attention. Bakugou was in the same position. Unfortunately, he didn't know anyone's Quirk that asked him.
"Please let me be in your team, Mizuki!"
Mizuki sweat dropped at the pushing people and took a step back in retreat. She didn't have any strategies to deal with a bunch of people simultaneously. What made things worse was that it was only those of her class.
"Shut up, you're making my ears ring!" Mizuki snapped and inhaled deeply. "Look, the other classes think we're full of ourselves, right? Wouldn't we be showing them they're right when we team up with the same people we know?" She asked and had everyone's eyes widened in realization.
"But picking those you don't know anything about will put you in a disadvantage, won't it?" Jiro pointed out and Mizuki gazed at the girl, a smirk forming on her lips. She stared at the ash blonde, unsure about what was going through her head.
"Exactly! That's why I'm only picking one. Welcome to my team, Jiro," Mizuki told the female and her eyes widened in surprise. The others walked away with shoulders slumped in defeat, Katsuki their next target.
"Me? Why me?"
"Easy, I need someone who can do ranged attacks. You can extend your earphone-like lobes, right? It'll be much easier to do ranged attacks and even to steal points," Mizuki pointed out and Jiro smiled.
"You can count on me!" She made a fist, her face falling soon after. "But what are you doing to do about the rest of the team? We won't have any advantage if it's just the two of us," Jiro stated with a frown.
"Hey, hey, hey! Then I'll join your team! You need some manpower, don't you?" The two girls caught sight of a white-haired male walking straight towards them, Jiro paling and Mizuki raising an eyebrow.
"Isn't that the guy that yelled at us that we shouldn't be getting cocky? You know, the one from class B?" Jiro whispered to the ash blonde who let out a sigh with a nod. Mizuki didn't know what this male's story was, especially since he basically despised their class.
"Hey, Steel Bastard, what's your agenda here? I thought that you hated class A? You want to bring us down by sinking the entire ship?" Mizuki asked the male, crossing her arms over her chest and her eyes glaring at him.
Tetsutetsu froze up and squinted his eyes as she shone brightly in front of him. He averted his eyes, a faint blush on his cheeks. "No! I heard what you said and it sounded like you were taking the other classes in consideration! I respect that!" He shouted and the two girls blinked.
Where is he looking?
"A-Anyway, you have that explosion Quirk, right? You're going to need someone in front who won't yield! You need a strong steed and I can be that!" Tetsutetsu said with a smirk and pointed towards himself, turning into steel.
Mizuki found herself glancing towards her brother, Eijiro trying to convince him to join their team. He didn't even consider her team. She clicked her tongue, her annoyance growing and looked at the male in front of her.
"Sure, why not? You better be prepared, Steel Bastard. I won't hold back even if you're the one in front," Mizuki told him with a smirk and he gave her a big grin, his pointy teeth showing. Jiro gave Mizuki a sceptical look but said nothing.
She knew well enough that Mizuki was good at strategy and that she beat Shoto on the first day they had basic hero training. She had a plan and she was strong. Jiro didn't need anything else to motivate her to stand by her side.
"Would you look at that, a bunch of students only from the hero course forming a team. I thought you were taking everyone in consideration? Aren't you all talk like your brother?" A gruff voice spoke up and Mizuki's eyes narrowed onto a pair of worn out eyes.
"You little-!" Mizuki's hand shot out to stop Tetsutetsu from giving the male a piece of his mind and didn't notice him freezing up with a blank look on his face. The indigo coloured hair male smirked at Mizuki.
"Isn't that the other guy that declared war against our class?" Jiro asked, and Mizuki frowned deeply. She didn't know what was going on but there were a bunch of weirdoes that she attracted. This one, however, gave her a bad feeling.
"You're all so overconfident with your blessed Quirks to give you're an easy advantage. Though, it must be bad being in your brother's shadow, huh?" He mocked and this time had Mizuki growling at him.
"Screw you-!" Mizuki was cut off in her yell towards him, her face going blank and making the male's smirk widen. She was the last one to fall into his trap, her other two companions already under his control.
Hitoshi Shinso
Age: 15
Quirk: Brainwashing
"Too easy. It would be humiliating to have the number two in the entrance exam for the hero course to bring me victory, wouldn't it?" Shinso stated as he rubbed the back of his head and then walked towards Mizuki.
She couldn't move, her brain filled with thick fog and she found that she couldn't make any thoughts. She didn't know what was happening or what she was doing. She couldn't even see what she was doing.
W-What's going on…? She tried to form the question in her mind and tried to find anything in the fog. There was a small white light on the other side. She reached towards the light, the fog swallowing her up and stopping her.
Katsuki…
Katsuki's body suddenly went rigid when he heard Mizuki's voice in his head. He could feel the hairs on his arms and neck stand on end, his crimson orbs snapping towards where his sister was standing and his team giving him confused expressions.
"Hey, Bakugou, are you alright?" Sero asked, Eijiro frowning when he saw Katsuki staring at Mizuki's unmoving figure. In front of her was a familiar indigo haired male, grinning smugly as he towered her and it had a fire burning in his stomach.
"Tch, I'll be right back," Katsuki said and walked off, leaving the trio to call out towards him. Something was wrong. He could feel it. Something was very wrong with Mizuki but he couldn't place what it was. All he knew was that his entire being called him towards her.
Shinso huffed and pocketed his hands. "Do me a favour. Win this match for me, okay?" Shinso told the trio, his eyes only looking straight at Mizuki who vaguely nodded. He then chuckled and walked past Mizuki, his shoulder shoving against hers.
Clear thoughts.
There was a sudden ignition of small explosions and in a flash, Shinso was on the ground, Mizuki on top of him as she held his face. Her crimson eyes were threatening, her other hand palm ready to strike at him with an explosion.
"You little shit. What the hell did you just do to me?!" Mizuki snarled angrily at him, his eyes wide in shock. She was slightly out of breath, a trail of sweat cascading down the side of his face as she growled at the male.
W-What?! T-That's not possible! She should be under my complete control! Shinso thought and tried to activate his Quirk. He felt the grip on his face harden and swallowed thickly as she moved her hand closer to his face.
"Whoa, he must've really pissed Mizuki off. She's about to blow up his face!" Eijiro stated in disbelief. He hadn't seen Mizuki this angry in quite a while. Katsuki stopped pursuing his sister, the need fading away.
He didn't know what happened but he was going to discuss this with Mizuki later on. He had a cold chill rocket through him at the thought of his sister being in danger. Luckily, she seemed to be able to take care of herself.
"I'll ask you nicely once again before I blow up your entire worn-out face. What the hell did you do to me?" Mizuki threatened, the male paling and his heart thumping in his chest. He swallowed thickly, his eyes quivering.
"I-I'll tell you," he said holding up his hands in surrender. Mizuki narrowed her eyes as she stepped off the male. He looked up at her, a frown on his lips and his brows furrowing. It wasn't possible. Why wasn't his Quirk working on her? It just worked!
"It's my Quirk," he said and Mizuki's brows twitched. "I can manipulate a person to obey my commands as soon as they verbally respond." Mizuki felt herself on the edge of destroying the male who stood in front of her.
"You thought it was going to be funny to humiliate hero students by getting them under control?" Mizuki told him and his frown intensified. Mizuki waited for the same effect on her but there was nothing that happened.
"Too bad. Doesn't look like your Quirk affects me as you had hoped. Must be pretty embarrassing, huh?" Mizuki said and he growled at her, his hands balling into fists by his sides. He was spelling frustration.
Mizuki smirked and relaxed the tension in her muscles. "Alright, you're in." His eyes widened. "You had the balls to try and trick me, I like it. I'll let you on my team, only if you promise not to use your Quirk," Mizuki conditioned, the smirk not reaching her dangerously blazing eyes.
"You expect me to rely on your Quirks? I don't think so," he told her and Mizuki shrugged, unfazed by his words. She crossed her arms over her chest and idly looked at the clock that only had a few minutes left.
"Suit yourself. If you can find anyone in this short time span, then go ahead. Too bad if you don't though. I thought you wanted to be transferred into the hero course? It's sad when a person is handed the perfect opportunity on a silver plate but doesn't use it," she mocked.
Shinso bit down hard onto his teeth. He glanced at the clock and then at the already formed teams. His plan backfired and the only choice he had left was to stay with this team. He was pushed into a corner and he didn't like it.
"F-Fine…"
Mizuki chuckled and gave him a smug look, the male greatly disturbed that his Quirk wasn't working on her. How was it possible? Every human being had a brainwashing switch within them. Did it mean that she genetically didn't have one? No, she succumbed to him the first time.
"Mind if you, un-brainwash the rest of our teammates?" Mizuki asked as she pointed at the two students who had blank expression on their faces. Shinso hesitated briefly, the crimson eyes narrowing at him.
"Ah!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed and then looked around in confusion. "Huh? What was I doing again?" He asked, Jiro in the same confusion as he was. She glanced back at Mizuki, the female smirking victoriously and Shinso behind them, looking defeated.
"You! Who do you think-!" Mizuki cut off Tetsutetsu by putting a hand on his shoulder. He felt heat rushing through his body and gazed up at the female's blindingly beautiful expression. He forced himself to look at her.
"It's all good. He's joining our team," Mizuki said and had the two brainwashed victims exclaiming in shock and disbelief. "We only have little time to plan a strategy so do you want to bitch and moan the entire time or listen?"
"Huh? Where did the time go?!"
"You… How do you plan on winning without using my Quirk?" Shinso asked the ash blonde as Tetsutetsu asked Jiro about the time, the female just as confused as she was. Mizuki huffed and put her hands on her hips.
"One can't be a hero with just one trick, right?" She pointed out, their eyes widening at her words. Jiro recognized the words from Aizawa and couldn't help but smile. Tetsutetsu flushed and Shinso felt the words hit him right in the chest.
"T-That's so cool!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed, the words ringing in his head as he stared at Mizuki in astonishment. This girl was amazing! She did everything with graze and had a strength in her eyes that never faltered.
"Let's get to that plan, shall we?"
A few minutes later…
"After fifteen minutes to form team and talk strategy, twelve cavalry teams are lined up on the field!" Present Mic returned after waking up his companion next to him, his loud voice catching everyone's attention.
"There are some interesting teams out there," Aizawa stated, his eyes trailing over the field where the groups were all waiting to start. He caught sight of Mizuki as she was held up by Jiro, Tetsutetsu and Shinso. A peculiar combination.
"Now raise those cries! It's time for U.A.'s bloody battle! Light the signal fire!" Present Mic riled the crowd up. They were all going crazy, enjoying what lay ahead of them. "Let's go! Counting down to the brutal battle royal!"
"You guys ready?" Mizuki asked as she tightened their headband around her neck, smirking along with the rest of her team. Jiro was on her left wing while Shinso was on her right wing and Tetsutetsu stood in front, ready for anything that came his way.
Team Mizuki
Points: 540
"Are you sure about not tackling the 10 million, Mizuki?" Jiro asked the ash blonde female who nodded. It was what she decided from the beginning that she wasn't aiming for Izuku. She had another plan at hand.
"I'm sure, Jiro. Most of the teams are going to aim for the ten million, right? It'll be a battle for it from the beginning and as soon as it's snatched away, we go for it. I don't care who I'm blowing up," Mizuki said and Tetsutetsu chuckled.
"3…2…1…start!"
They sprung off as soon as the alarm went off to start and as predicted, almost everyone was charging towards Izuku. Mizuki's eyes scanned around her and took in everyone's points, her smirk widening into a smirk.
Izuku's team consisted of Mei, Ochaco and Tokoyami who were all supporting him. They easily used Mei's items to escape, their main goal to run away and wait until the time was up for them to win. A typical Izuku strategy.
"Mizuki!" Tetsutetsu called and she smirked, sparks forming in her hands when a group of females from Class B came from behind. Unfortunately, they were going to be their first target, and fell right into their trap.
Team Kendo
Points: 225
"Better grit your teeth, Steel Bastard!" Mizuki shouted and he activated his Quirk, his entire body becoming steel. "Now!" Mizuki called, Jiro and Shinso snapping them around and the team from Class B had their eyes widen.
Mizuki let loose an explosion from her hands, the smoke screen enough to make the girls cough and cover up. Jiro took the opportunity and snatched away their head band with her earphone jack in another instant.
"W-What?"
"Sorry, Kendo! No hard feelings!" Tetsutetsu called towards the rider as they ran off and the smoke clearing. He deactivated his Quirk, smirking as they continued to run ahead and Mizuki put the headband around her neck.
"Tetsutetsu! You jerk!" Kendo called and gritted her teeth in anger. The girls who carried her were quick in pursuit to get the ten million and their headband back. They were completely caught off guard by the sudden onslaught.
Team Mizuki
Points: 765
"We're already pretty high up in the rankings already. Let's keep going!" Mizuki said and her teammates nodded, Shinso not saying a word. He was surprised at how fast they got the first point, Mizuki's strategy better than he expected.
Mizuki felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up and an explosion erupted from her backside in warning. Crimson eyes snapped around and quickly managed to dodge a purple ball that was aimed for her face.
"Hey! Don't go setting off explosions without warning!" Shinso scolded the ash blonde female who instinctively felt if all the headbands were still there. Luckily, her explosion was enough to scare off the attackers.
"Sorry about that. It looks like we've got company…and a lot of it," Mizuki said as they came to a halt, two teams ganging up on them. They also had their eyes on their points, instead of the ten million.
"Oh?! What's with this development! team Mizuki seems to be in a pinch with two teams from both Class A and B pursuing them! How will they get out of this one?!" Present Mic announced as Aizawa's brows furrowed.
"Mizuki!" Crimson eyes found Mineta's perverted eyes next to another hidden figure inside the shelter that Shoji made. "You thought that you finished me off at the obstacle course! Now, I'm going to steal your points! You got cocky when you made yourself the only one with an offensive Quirk!" He shouted angrily.
Team Shoji
Points: 420
"Mizuki, I saw Tsu-chan join their small team earlier. Be careful of her tongue!" Jiro called and Mizuki grunted. They were at a disadvantage when it came to the attacks they couldn't see and a group whose Quirks they didn't know.
"Sorry, Tetsutetsu, but we'll be taking those!" One of the men called out from the front of the group from class B and Tetsutetsu gritted his teeth. Shinso's eyes darted between the two groups as he steadied his own group.
Team Awase
Points: 730
Yosetsu Awase
Age: 15
Quirk: Weld
The girl with the vines seems to be the one who wanted to steal our headbands. I don't know what the others' Quirks are but it's best that we get our distance. Mizuki thought, her senses heightening as she looked around.
"Damn it. I'd like to see you try, Awase!" Tetsutetsu snapped back and looked up at Mizuki. "Watch out for the one on the right! He can soften the surface we step on!" He warned as the said ash blonde activated his quirk.
Juzo Honenuki
Age: 15
Quirk: Softening
Shinso's reaction time was quirk, pushing the entire group to the side as the ground beneath them was manipulated. Jiro tried to compensate for the change of wait while Tetsutetsu growled out, digging his heels in the ground.
As they moved, a tongue shot out from the side and Mizuki smirked. She suddenly jumped into the air, using her hands to propel her with her explosions. Her group's eyes widened at her sudden actions.
"Cocky, you say? With my team supporting me, I'm more than enough offense, Shit For Brains!" Mizuki yelled at the group and shot off and held out her hand, letting loose a small and blinding explosion.
"Ah! My eyes!" Mineta's cry came forth, Mizuki smirking as Shoji briefly opened his arms to reveal the smaller male. Jiro was quirk to use her earphone jack as soon as Mizuki gave her the chance to see their opponent's headband.
"Mizuki, watch out!" Tetsutetsu called as a vein approached her. Mizuki smirked and let loose an explosion from her feet, the group caught off guard by the fact that she could use explosions all over her body.
"Don't underestimate me!" Mizuki snatched their headband cleanly off their head and let loose a last of her explosions to shoot her back. The female wanted to pursue her with her vines but the explosion stopping her from doing so.
"W-What was that?! Mizuki used her explosions to keep herself in the air the entire time and managed to steal two headbands?! Is that even fair?!" Present Mic yelled loudly, jumping out of his chair.
"Shit! We got you!" Tetsutetsu called and Mizuki landed in the grip of her teammates. They softened the impact greatly, the points on the screen rocketing up to second place as she bound the headbands around her neck.
Team Mizuki:
Points: 1915
"She didn't land on the ground and didn't do anything to make the other teams fall either. It's permitted!" Midnight declared as she slapped to the side with her whip and the spectators went wild.
"You're crazy, you know that?" Shinso asked Mizuki who laughed as she repositioned herself on her group member's shoulders. He was taken back. She launched herself with enough explosion not to damage her teammates and used her Quirk to keep her in the air.
She blinded one of the teams for Jiro to see where the headband was and simultaneously aimed at the other team's headband. She didn't even flinch at the fact that she was outnumbered or that any of them possibly had an offensive Quirk.
"Yeah, I know," Mizuki laughed and then smirked. "I'll be sure to keep an eye on our backside. I leave the rest on your hands!" Mizuki said and had all her teammates nod, smirking as they ran along and managed to get away from some of their chasers.
"Now, let's take a look at each team's points. It's been seven minutes! Here are the current rankings up on the screen!" Present Mic announced and Mizuki glanced at the screen, her eyes widening.
"What? Wait a minute! Other than Midoriya and Mizuki, Class A isn't doing so well… Huh? Bakugou? What?" Present Mic asked in confusion, Mizuki staring at the zero points showed next to her brother's team's name.
Katsuki's got zero? When did this happen?! She thought and looked around to find her brother, his headband stolen by one of the males from Class B. She could feel the indescribable anger that rose inside her chest. That guy was as good as dead.
"Bakugou's team has zero points? How's that even possible?" Jiro asked in confusion. Not believing her eyes. She was relieved to see that they were in second place, she did however, not expect them to even top Shoto.
"Serves him right."
"Steel Bastard." Tetsutetsu jumped at Mizuki's words and swallowed thickly, hoping that she didn't hear him. "Who the hell is the idiot that stole Katsuki's headband. He's in your class, isn't he?" Mizuki asked and Tetsutetsu sweat dropped at her usage of nicknames.
"That's Monoma. His Quirk is copy. He can use another person's Quirk after touching them. He can only copy four Quirks for 5 minutes, though. And um…he really hates class A more than the rest of us," Tetsutetsu explained and Mizuki frowned.
"Ah! Not you, MizukI! You too, Jiro! You guys are amazing! We initially planned to overthrow Class A, observing you from behind but…" Tetsutetsu trailed off, the two females merely staring at him with blank facial expressions. He laughed sheepishly. He had a reason behind his actions for abandoning his class and the reason was still unknown.
"Less than half the time is left now! The cavalry battle is about to enter the second half! In the unexpected rise of Class B, who will wea the ten million points in the end?!" Present Mic announced, gaining their attention.
"Hey, what's the plan from here on out?" Shinso asked Mizuki, the teenager's brows furrowing. They were in second place. The only other thing they could do was to get the ten million points to get them on top. Something she didn't have the need to do.
There was a sudden movement from the left side, Jiro's earphone jacks quickly hitting away the attack. Mizuki clicked her tongue as she felt a bunch of new eyes on their group and sparks appeared all over her body.
"First thing's first." She smirked darkly. "Let's show these idiots that they can't mess with the number two team. Then we head to the others!" Mizuki told her team and they prepared for defence.
Mizuki was able to fend off most the attacks, explosions erupting from her hand palms the safest way she could control her explosions. She occasionally let sparks fly on her backside to warn those who wanted to try a sneak attack.
They keep coming. Tch, their irritating! Mizuki thought as they ran on her crimson eyes eyeing those of Class B who had it in for Class A. By the way they were trying to defend, it was going to eat away at time. She eyed the board, her chest giving a squeeze at her brother's zero points.
Katsuki, don't you dare let them beat you! You too, Red! I want to see you in the finals! Mizuki shouted in her head, hoping that her words would reach the two men who were trying to get their points back.
"Steel Bastard! Grit your teeth!" Mizuki shouted at the male in front and he activated his Quirk, hardening his entire body in steel. Mizuki held out her hand palms and smirked at the teams who charged at them before letting loose a large explosion.
The smoke and the impact had the teams on their heels, pushed back by the sudden onslaught. It bought Mizuki's team time to escape, their eyes landing on an icy ridge that was made by none other than Shoto.
"One minute left! Todoroki made it so he'd have the ten million to himself to seize in an instant! At least, that's what I thought five minutes ago! But unbelievably, Midoriya's been able to keep away in that cramped space for five minutes!" Present Mic declared.
"I see it! That's where the ten million is, right? Let's go get it!" Tetsutetsu called to Mizuki and she frowned. An image of a green haired boy flashed in her thoughts. Jiro's brows furrowed wondering what Mizuki was thinking while Shinso frowned. He didn't think it was a wise choice.
"We advance for now, but the main objective is to keep our points! I refuse to have any lower ranking!" Mizuki stated and had the trio look up at her in a brief silence. They then smirked and nodded.
"With less than a minute left, Todoroki currently has four headbands! He wrestled away the top spot from Midoriya, who was running away like crazy! Moreover, Team Bakugou seizes two headbands to move to third place!" Present Mic updated them and Mizuki frowned.
Katsuki, you've been aiming for the top since we were little kids. Both you and Izuku. I… I never did. I only wanted to be by your side and even wanted to make a twin hero team. Even so, when you're around, I also want to give my best! Mizuki bit the inside of her cheek.
Your goal isn't something small like getting first place. Your goal is much larger. You want to be the indisputable number one. That's why those who underestimate you will always fail. Mizuki defended their rear guard, letting loose another explosion and exhaled.
"Monoma… Class B's strategy was certainly reasonable and good. But there's just one thing that's unfortunate. Those who are always aiming for the top, and those who aren't. You didn't take the difference in tenacity into consideration, did you?"
Mizuki could feel the rush of victory soar in her chest and smirked. Katsuki destroyed those who underestimated him. She didn't expect anything less, though. He was her stupid perfectionist brother. He was her inspiration.
"They're coming from all over now! We won't have time for the ten million points!" Jiro called and Mizuki gritted her teeth, her smirk never fading. If second place was what they had, then she was going to make sure to keep it that way.
"Hey, I hope you know what you're doing!" Shinso told her and Mizuki chuckled. Cavalry battle was one of her strong points and her Quirk was perfect to keep their attackers at bay. She wasn't going to lose this fight.
"Give me a boost!" Mizuki called and had Jiro along with Shinso throw her in the air as a hand came for the headbands. Mizuki twisted herself in the air, a black-haired male with a braided ponytail's eyes widening at her agility.
"Don't get full of yourself!" Mizuki shouted at him, ripping off his headband. Before he could counter, she propelled herself with an explosion, the cloud of smoke making him cough. She used her explosions to take her straight towards her team and they caught her without a problem.

"Time's about up! Start the countdown! 10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1… Time's up!" Present Mic announced and everyone in the crowd cheered. "That's the end of the second round, the cavalry battle!"
Mizuki and her team breathed heavy from the running around, the ash blonde jumping off those who held her. She grinned and held onto the headbands they managed to get, a feeling of satisfaction washing over her.
"Let's take a look at the top four teams right away! In first place, Team Todoroki! In second place, team MizukI! In third place, Team Bakugou! In fourth place, Team Midoriya! These four teams will advance to the final round!" Present Mic informed everyone.
Mizuki chuckled, putting her hands on her hips. It seemed like the four she had put her hopes in had advanced to the final round. She was positive that Katsuki was livid for not getting the ten million and that her team beat him.
"We did it. Well done guys," Mizuki complimented her team and gave them all a wink. Tetsutetsu nearly fell over, his cheeks flushing and Jiro smiled. Shinso was already walking off, not sparing any of them a glance.
"One can't be a hero with just one trick, right?"
He could hear her statement ringing in his head and huffed, pocketing his hands and an unconscious smirk came onto his face. Bakugou Mizuki. He was going to remember her. He expected her to be as arrogant as her brother. Yet, it turned out that she had a rational side.
"We'll take an hour's break for lunch before we start the afternoon festivities! See ya!"
"That asshole! He didn't even say thank you!" Tetsutetsu growled out, making a fist as his temper flared. Mizuki, on the other hand, merely chuckled as she took off the headbands and looked at her two teammates.
"It's fine. We'll see each other in the finals," Mizuki said and walked off with a wave. She couldn't wait to get in something to munch and rest her body for a while. She was still far from overheating but she knew that if she pushed herself too far, she would have her vertigo coming back.
"Mizuki, wait up!" Jiro called and the ash blonde glanced back at the female. She came running towards her, a smile on her face. "I-uh. Thank you for letting me join your team," she said with a small blush and Mizuki chuckled.
"Don't mention it."
"Mizuki-chan!" Mizuki felt her mood sour at the nickname that came from Tetsutetsu, Jiro paling. "You wanna grab something to eat? We've got an hour! We can kill some time together!" He offered with a big grin and Jiro gaped.
He was trying to pick up Mizuki?! That was the reason he joined their team? It all made sense. The reason why he basically betrayed his entire class. He had a crush on Miuki and as she thought about his behaviour, it all made sense.
"No thanks. I have somewhere to be," Mizuki turned him down without a second thought, his face falling onto sadness that resembled that of a puppy. Jiro let out a sigh and shook her head as she looked at Mizuki's figure that walked off.
The poor soul for having a crush on Mizuki.
