I in fact do not own the rights of Percy Jackson, all credits go to...well you know who.
To demonboy- Valid points, I guess I did force some stuff, and it didn't mix well. But I don't feel like I should change it because then the whole story structure will change, but I will be changing it in future chapters. So yeah thanks for the review and I respect your no fucks attitude!
TW: Mention of Suicide
Ink- Hallow, how are you guys? I hate my mental because I have to get past the 1000 word mark until I can get any work done. For example, in chapter eleven. Also after this chapter, I'm taking a break for like a month
Scenario- demonboy I read your review too and yeah, like ink said above, extremely valid point.
After we get to the clearing, Aphrodite places a hand on my shoulder.
"The reason I came to talk to you is that Artemis wanted me to check in with you. How are you, Perseus?" She asks sincerely. Her face is weird. I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but it keeps changing into pretty people and it's very unsettling. Aphrodite read my mind or something because her ears perked up immediately.
"Oh, sorry Perseus, lemme just fix that." She morphs into a beautiful woman who has red hair and brown eyes. She probably passes as Mom's sister.
Aphrodite smiles, "That's the look I was going for, Perseus." Ok, well that solves that.
"Umm, Lady Aphrodite I prefer to be called Percy, if that's fine with you," I say timidly. I don't know how to act around her, maybe I already screwed it up if she is super uptight and is one of those kinds of gods. The mean ones.
"Of course Percy! Also, for your information, I am not one of those goddesses." She says, laughing at my shocking expression. Oh shit! Right, people can read my mind. Not fair, why can't I do that.
"So, why did you make such a big show with my claim? Couldn't you just be like-shazham!-and claim me?" I ask as I realize I am a lot more comfortable now. Aphrodite visibly laughs and she shakes her head.
"Gods you sound like Athena, and that may not be a good thing." She explains seriously. I think she is joking, or maybe not. Wait for a second... is she?
"Why do people keep saying that I sound like her," I complain. Aphrodite pats my back the way Zoe does.
"Anyway, the reason I wanted to make a big show is that I wanted to meet you, plus Artemis told me that Zoe told her that she wanted you to get embarrassed so I guess that's mission accomplished." Of course, Zoe said that.
"Well, she could have seen it for real if she stayed here," I say passive-aggressively. I lean my body weight on a local tree. I made sure that there weren't any unsuspecting tree nymphs nearby. Aphrodite surrenders her hands.
"Hey, don't shoot the messenger!" She jokes. I'm getting a good vibe with Aphrodite. It's a similar one to that of Uncle Apollo.
"So what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" I say, eyeing her pointedly. Aphrodite goes to sit down on the grass but while she is in that position she just floats. And I'm not kidding, she just floats.
"Umm alright, why?" I ask accidentally, saying half my sentence. Fortunately, the goddess of beauty understands my language, unlike a sister of mine. I don't know how she doesn't understand me, I mean, my English for the most part is almost perfect.
"To answer both of your questions, I didn't want to get my outfit dirty. Also, I wanted to bless you." She says bluntly. I half-believe her. On one hand, I believe she does not want to get dirt all over her stylish outfit. She has a baby blue blazer on with a plain tight white shirt and has matching blue straight pants on. Her shoes are some Nike shoes going up to her ankles and small what looks like olive leaves on the back tab.
On the other hand, why does she want to bless me? I haven't done anything to get it. I mean, I don't mind getting a free blessing, but I want to earn it. I want there to be a reason I got 3 Olympian blessings, including Moms. Currently, I have accepted 2 without doing anything.
"Lady Aphrodite, why am I receiving your blessing? I didn't do anything to deserve it." I say to her. Aphrodite laughs and starts floating to me at an alarming speed, which freaks me out. I mean, how scary is it when a person in a lotus position in mid-air maneuvers towards you.
"I conversed with Apollo, and according to him, 'Yah, Percy and I are pretty much best bros.' So I assume you have a good relationship with Apollo?" I nod as she continues, "but anyway, he told me about your past, not to remind you, but he and Arty told me that you deserve all of what they gave you after everything you've been through." Aphrodite says imperatively. I'm glad I'm on the ground because if I weren't I probably would have fallen to the ground.
A wave of emotions rolls off of me. Sadness, gratitude, and embarrassment. All of those feelings mixed make me extremely nauseous. I roll over on my back on the cool grass. I groan loudly. Aphrodite does her weird floaty thing and comes near me.
"Are you ok, Percy? Do you need me to do anything?" Aphrodite says kindly, analyzing my body. My hands are at my stomach and I think about what Zoe and Artemis told me about Aphrodite, that she is the prettiest woman ever and she has a power called charm-speak. Charm speaking is where she can essentially sweet talk people into stuff without their will. At the time, I thought it was a cool power, and to be honest, I still do. It's just people underestimate Aphrodite several times when at the end of the day, she is still an Olympian Goddess and can probably shred them into fine pieces.
"Can you get my mom?" I ask her. I know it's not a manly thing to do, calling for your mommy, but I don't care. I'm homesick as it is. I just want to leave and get healed. Aphrodite pursues her lips and thinks.
After a minute of thinking, she finally comes to a decision, "Alright Percy, but give it a few. In the meantime, do you need me to heal anything?" I take stock of what I have left.
"Can you heal my back? Ooh and my stomach!" I say excitedly. after remembering my stomach injury. That is a sentence I never thought I, or any kid on the planet, would ever say. I lift my shirt so the goddess can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
She stares at my wounds, examining them. I couldn't quite place my finger on why her look seemed so familiar until it hit me, that's the same gaze that Silena had when taking care of my same wounds. I guess their looks and gazes are something that runs in the family.
"Umm, I can heal your stomach, but the scar will stay. Your back on the other hand…" Aphrodite trails off.
"What! Why not?" I cry. Aphrodite has the guts to crack a smile.
"That's because your back is already healed! My claiming must have healed, as an addition to altering your visual appearance." That explains why my back felt a lot better when claimed. Sick, I get a new back!
"Wait what do you mean by 'altering my visual appearance.'?" I ask. I glance at my arms and assess. Nothing changed for the most part. Aphrodite shifts around uncomfortably.
"Uhh allow me to summon a mirror," Aphrodite says as she indeed summons a mirror. She creates a full-body mirror and it stands in front of me. I gasp when I peer into the glass.
In it, is me, but a lot more attractive. Like I'm A-list celebrity-level handsome. My hair isn't a nest of hair anymore. It's neat and wavy and my jawline is more defined. Then my clothes-my clothes!
"I look amazing! Do you by chance make the outfits?" I say turning to Aphrodite, peeling my eyes off of myself. Ugh, I know such an egotistical thing of me to say. Aphrodite gives me a smug view.
"I do, what's it to you?" Aphrodite says amusingly. I shrug, my outfit seemed to have the same style as what she had on.
"Nothing, I just think the hunters and mom could use some inspiration for their uniforms," I say. Unintentionally a smirk rolls onto my face when I think about them. My clothes consist of the main color of forest green. I have a soft plain white shirt with an open green jacket around it with a matching pair of forest pants. Then my shoes are these cool low shoes with the top edge being the similar green and a large weird N in the middle.
Aphrodite shares a troublemaker grin with me making me wonder if she is related to me.
"Alright, I will run it by her to get the hunt a wardrobe change. And honestly, you are right, their whole attire needs to change, I mean their vibe needs to be a lot more friendly to recruit more people." Aphrodite honestly says summoning a bean bag and sitting on it. Thank the gods because her magical flotation was starting to stress me.
"I suppose I should get going with the blessing shouldn't I?" Aphrodite says after giving me some time to survey my clothes.
"Alright, I guess so what, do I have to kneel like normal?" I ask and the goddess nods. I kneel in front of the goddess and I stay frozen.
"Okay, I'm doing it now," Aphrodite says as she places her hand on my forehead. Her hand is soft and cool which I just now noticed since my forehead is sticky with sweat. I feel a beam go from her hand into me and it makes my head vibrate.
"Wait for a second what?" Aphrodite suddenly says, "How can this be? No way…" She trails off and I open my eyes to see a very frantic olympian. I didn't get any time to ask her a question because just as my mouth opens, a white flash materialized next to me. It's Mom and she is also very stressed out.
"Hey Aphy, I came here as quick as I can...What happened?" She says to Aphrodite then noticing Aphrodite's scandalized demeanor. Artemis then quickly comes to me and pulls me into a hug.
"Did anything happen to you?" She murmurs into my ear. I ponder on what she means by that.
"Nah not really," I say honestly.
At the same time, Aphrodite says, "Actually something happened." Mom pulls back and gives me a pointed look. Uhh whoops.
"Alright, so someone tells me what happened or I storm up to camp demanding what happened because I'm guessing that something involves the camp?" I didn't feel like talking to mom about that right now. Well, I don't feel like talking period.
Luckily Aphrodite comes to my rescue, "So there was a hunter vs campers capture the flag game, right?" Artemis instantly jumps to a conclusion aggressively.
"What happened? I want to know what happened to his back!" I stiffen and freeze.
"How do you know I got hurt in the back?" I ask her curiously. Artemis's expression turns proud.
"Well you are my child, you'd think your mother wouldn't see if her child is hurt?" She boasts and hugs me. I blush and hide my face.
"Moommm not in front of people!" I complain.
"I'm only one person!" Aphrodite laughs, then says in a more serious tone, "Artemis, today during the capture the flag game, the hunters won-"
"That's hardly anything to worry about!" Artemis interrupts.
"I wasn't finished," Aphrodite says calmly, "Anyway the game ended, but some idiot Ares spawns got angry at Percy for hiding and attacked him." Mom didn't move, she just kept her gaze on Aphrodite.
"That's fine," She says, I gawk, "I assume Percy handled them, and they are in the infirmary." Aphrodite looks at me, guess she is done talking. I stand there awkwardly.
"Yeah about that, I would have, but I didn't have time since the wine dude kinda whipped me." Now that got Mom's attention.
"Excuse me who did it?" She demanded calmly. I don't immediately answer. Did I say something wrong? Did I break like some Olympian code of giving a god a dumb name?
"Dionysus. He did it." I tell her. Artemis's gaze narrows and I can feel the heat from her intense glare.
"He attacked a child and didn't get any punishment!" She growls, her voice rising at every word. Aphrodite goes to Mom and places a hand on her shoulder, and whispers something. Her words have an effect because Mom calms down and thinks things through.
Oh crap, if Zoe was here, she would have a cow if she saw that I already made an enemy god. Or is it making an enemy? His actions were very unexpected? Like he didn't even know me, what would be the point of attacking me? Very suspicious.
After some minutes of thinking, she comes to an answer, "I'm going up there and beating his ass." Aphrodite instantly objects.
"How is the going to work, explaining why you defended Percy. Then you will be forced to spill." The goddess of love reasons.
"Then what am I supposed to do? He's going to get away scot-free!" Artemis says helplessly.
Aphrodite sighs, "Percy, do you mind if the adults talk here?" I nod but masking my actual feelings. That's exactly what the people said when they came to take mom away. They wouldn't listen to me about how Gabe got her. I thought it would be my one chance to get away from him, only it landed me in more trouble with him.
All because the personnel didn't listen
"Alright, see ya later Lady Aphrodite, "I conclude and start walking away, but Aphrodite runs up to me. And she runs instead of the weird floaty thing.
She does something unexpected, she hugs me.
"See you later Percy! I hope next time we don't have to talk about the possible beating of a wine God. And you can call me Aunt Aphrodite, or maybe Aunt Aph for short!" She says as she walks back to Mom.
While I'm leisurely strolling back to camp I hear Mom and Aunty talking.
"Really Aunt?" I catch Mom saying.
Then I listen for Aphrodite's answer, "What? You don't like it?" I don't know how, but I know for a fact that she was smirking while she said that. Call it a sixth sense.
Anyway, it is far dark by now when I head to the cabin. The moon is out and shining while I walk back. I trek my way, past the strawberry fields and to the Aphrodite cabin.
To my surprise, the lights were still on. I lightly push open the door to see an angry Silena.
"Where were you! We waiting for you for an hour now, everyone went to sleep except me!" Silena explains furiously. I look at her funnily, did Aunty not tell her.
"I was talking to y-our mom? She didn't tell you?" I stutter out. Internally, I breathe a deep and long breath, thankful that I didn't just blow my cover. Silena lays down on her bed and makes an audible sigh of relief.
"Oh thank the gods the first one in a while didn't perish. And no she didn't tell me." Silena breathes easily. One thing catches my attention of what Silena just said.
"What do you mean by 'first one in a while'?" I ask her while going to sit on a bed.
Silena suddenly grabs me by my arm and yanks me up. A jolt courses through my shoulder.
"Ow! What was that for!" I say sharply, rubbing my shoulder. Silena glares at me once again, like I'm supposed to know why she acted so aggressively.
"You are SO dirty and disgusting right now. Ain't no way you are getting into bed right now, go take a shower, I'll tell you what I mean after." I roll my eyes, does she have to be so dramatic.
"Gods you sound like Z-" I caught myself, then I think. Maybe some people take cleanliness seriously. "Alright, I will," I walk to the shower, and grab a towel on the side.
Silena runs up to me, with a bundle of clothing in her arms, and a pair of shoes on top.
"Here, take these, I guessed your size if that's fine with you. It's an Aphrodite Cabin tradition to give the newest cabin-mate a sick fit. I hope you like them!"
I take a step back, no one has ever given me a present before, other than my Mom, Sally Jackson, I mean. I didn't know how to react, as I've said before, I have no experience. Mom barely had enough money to slide by, and buying me presents wasn't on the list of surviving. And yet, she sometimes did, though not commonly. So far my streak is 6 years.
"I-wow- thank you, I don't know what to do," I stammer. Silena laughs and pushes me into the bathroom where she closes the door behind me.
"How about taking a shower!" She says behind the door. I laugh and get ready to shower. I turn the knob for the water. Warm water starts pouring down on me while I soap myself.
After the shower, I get a better idea of what my new clothes are. It seems to be the theme around water and blue. It's creepily fitting. I clump up the sweaty clothes that Aphrodite gave me into a neatly folded stack and wear the clothes Silena gifted me. The shirt was a blue Camp Half-Blood shirt with a horse on it, with a pair of dark green soft pants. Those matched well with my new shoes, which are Nike shoes with a blueish purple tab.
I emerge out of the bathroom clean and replenished, wait sounds weird. I was uhh refreshed.
"Ahh there we go, you look a lot more presentable than before," Silena critiques after I toss my towel into a nearby bin full of other used towels. I raise an eyebrow at her but don't say anything. She is sitting on the only bed that isn't occupied.
"Is that my bed?" I ask her, pointing to where she is sitting. Silena nods and scoots over to the head of the bed and pats to where I should sit. I sit and motion to my clothes.
"I didn't get to say thank you for the clothes, these are really nice," I admit, looking to the rest of the Aphrodite cabin who was fast asleep, dreaming in the realm of Hypnos.
"You realize you already said thank you but your welcome!" Silena gushes, "Also the whole cabin would have been there to present it to you, but your talk with mom was late, so they all fell asleep. So I guess it was just me, as their Head Counselor." I smile at her and nudge her.
"You are the Head Counselor, at 12? Also, you know I don't mind if it was just you, but what were you talking about earlier?" I remind her.
Silena winces but acts like she didn't, probably so I don't notice. Naturally, I do."I was hoping you wouldn't remember," She confesses, "But I do owe you an explanation."
I was about to explain to her that she didn't owe me anything but I didn't get to. She was in full story mode.
"It's not an interesting story, but I didn't think it was suitable for a 10-year-old." I give her a look like I give a dam. She notices my look and rolls her eyes.
"Yes, I know you don't care, but Chiron thought it was better if you didn't know," Silena illustrates, "Speaking of which I probably am breaking a couple of rules and twisting some arms to tell you this." I pull a worried look. I have a feeling knowing this could give me a bit more information to work with for my lie...I mean cover. Yes, cover.
"Don't worry Percy, I'll tell you." She says messing with my hair.
"Hey! Don't touch that, I just showered!" I snap, I'm always crankily. I hate it when people touch my wet hair. I didn't use my normal trick where I just use my powers to make my hair instantly dry. It would look rather suspicious, wouldn't it?
"My bad, anyway, the Aphrodite Cabin hasn't had a male descendant of Aphrodite for over 50 years now, so your arrival is pretty shocking," Silena says.
"Well, clearly they are stunned, in fact so surprised that they fell right to sleep." I crack, observing my sleeping cabinmates. Silena doesn't react, she continues with her story.
"Then right before you got here, we got a prophecy." I stiffen. I've heard of prophecies before. Zoe was telling me about them one day, how one of them separated her from her sister. So I assume they aren't good.
"It said something about the arrival of the descendant of the doves and such, so I'm guessing that's you, good luck," Silena says bluntly.
"Thanks for the heads up," I say rolling my eyes.
"Though, you should be fine if you do go on a quest. I mean you put a hell of a show out there, you'd have no time finding a mentor." Silena says remembering what previously happened today.
"Mentor?" I ask her. Wonder what that is? Apparently, I set myself for it though.
"Yeah a mentor, the older kids at camp teach some of the younger kids in the camp to get everyone to the same level. Though most of the better young ones get picked first." Silena says.
"Are you one of those people who mentor, Sil?" I ask her, fiddling with my shirt. My ADHD has been going overdrive today because of all the events. I'm not sure but I may be shaking too. Silena senses this and clutches my shoulder. I start to relax a little and I lean back.
"Are you good? Do you want me to go get you some water or something?" Silena stresses. I laugh and shake my head no.
"Nah I'm good, just I'm jittery on energy," I say, as I'm speaking my teeth chatter. I roll my eyes at myself. Silena studies my face and touches my cheeks and temples.
"You are dehydrated," She announces, "Did you drink any water today?" I shrug, that's not something a running counter on.
A sharp stinging pain emerges from the back of my head. Silena slaps my head, and her expression is angry.
"You are supposed to drink a gallon of water each day! C'mon, we are going on a walk?" Silena orders as she yanks me up forcefully
"What? Now? Aren't we going to get shredded by those birds?" I yelp. Luke told me about sneaking out in the camp, whether it's about creeping out past curfew or just getting outside of camp, that you would get tackled by the Harpies, a half-bird half-human, and crazy psycho.
"Nah, I have away, but as you said, you have the jitters. The best way is to get them out." Silena jumps out of the bed and stares at me expectantly. I stare back at her, with a blank expression.
"What?" I say defensively, "Stop looking at me like that, I'm not going to get obliterated by the bird lady!" Silena slaps me again, really she needs to stop doing that.
"You aren't now get up! Also, be quiet they are sleeping." I was going to point out that she is louder than me, but the argument seemed pointless. So I gathered up my will, and shoveled down the impending dread, and got up and head for the door. Before I can get my hand on the doorknob, however, Silena grabs my shoulder, says nothing, just points to a small hatch in the roof. I stare at her wide-eyed.
How did I not notice the very obvious secret trapdoor? Then I coming to think of it, that sentence is very contradicting.
"Alright, but how does Chiron and Mr.D not find out about this," I ask her. She shields her expression from me, but I do see a hint of satisfaction when she speaks.
"Let's just say the Aphrodite Cabin is good at convincing." I get the underline. Charmspeak. I thought only Lady Aphrodite herself could only use her sweet talk. As I'm thinking about all this Silena already has a rope ladder to the roof and is climbing it. She pushes the trapdoor and pulls herself up to the reddish-brown roof.
"Where'd that ladder come from?" I call up. Once Silena reaches the top, she pokes her head back down.
"I jumped, now get up here," Silena demands. I oblige and climb the small ladder. The ladder wobbles as I climb it. I start shaking like before, it's weird I'm 3 feet in the air and I'm getting scared. Then back when I was Gabe, -shudder- gods him, I used to jump off that balcony every day I wasn't afraid of anything, not me hurting or anything. I figured, nothing can hurt me more than I already am, so who cares.
But now that I have people to care about, I'm more cautious and get more aggressive. I need to calm down. Zoe and the rest of the hunters would probably disagree with that mentality, actually maybe not Zoe. Zoe always tends to surprise me with her mindset, it's so much different than the other huntresses. I once heard a story about her that she tried to convince a boy out of suicide. Most huntresses would just ignore him, and let him kill himself.
Then again, I'm only 10, I don't really understand the point of killing yourself. That may be insensitive, but what's the point, you got a life, you are just wasting it.
I manage to ascend up the step ladder, step by step. I'm about 8 feet above the floor of sleeping girls. At the worst time possible, I realize, this is just another hunt situation. I'm stranded as the only boy in an all-girls club, with no mother to save me this time. Silena pokes her head back into the hole and extends her arm. I grab her wrist and pull myself up.
"Nice, we got up. Now, all we have to do is jump down." Blood drains from my face.
"C-can we just stay up here it's nice," I say sliding up. Gods, what is wrong with me? Can barely stutter out a sentence. Luckily, Silena doesn't make me go on a walk, she scoots over and lays down on the shingles.
"Come here, albeit it's not the most comfortable, but the view is nice." Silena pats the space next to her like what she did on my bed. Not like the whole roof is taken and the only spot is next to her, but I do as she says. Or really motions.
I lay back and take a gander up. I finally relax, my shoulders drop as my eyes see the stars and the moon. The moon is glowing providing little light that seems to ease my stress.
"So...how's your mentoring?" I ask awkwardly after a while of just us. Silena hides her face when she answers.
"Actually, no one wanted to be with me," Silena admits. I raise my eyebrows.
"Why's that? I'm sure you would be great." I say honestly and I meant it too.
"Yeah that makes two of us, apparently no one wanted a daughter of Aphrodite mentoring them." She says bitterly.
"Ah, is it because of the daughter part of the Aphrodite part?" I ask gently. I remember Zoe telling me that some people think that boys are better than girls and that girls are incapable of what boys can do, which is dumb.
"Aphrodite part, campers are more than happy to be a protege of a psycho Ares child." She says sourly. I think about what she says, I figured that I would like to cheer her up.
"So are you saying that the campers can get to pick who their mentors are?" I ask her. Silena nods supportively.
"The mentors or people like Chiron can give recommendations, but ultimately the power is in the camper," Silena explains, her eyes sparkling.
"Alright cool," I say without hesitation, "you are going to be my mentor." Silena goes pink and does a double-take.
"You can't Percy! You are too good for me," Silena tries to reason, then looks away to hide her frazzled face.
"Should probably go with Luke or Charlie," Silena mumbles in her hands. Charlie? I don't know a Charlie. Then I realize that she probably called Beckendorf, 'Charlie'.
Then I remember Luke. 'Almost everyone calls him Beckendorf." Almost. I smirk and think about making fun of her, naturally, but I felt like Sil's self-esteem is down right now.
"You know, a mentor doesn't have to be fighting, you could teach me stuff about being a demigod, or just life in general because I most definitely need help with that," I explain, putting a hand on her shoulder. Silena still doesn't look convinced. So I whip out my secret weapon.
"Please Sil," I plead, putting on my puppy dog eyes. No one could resist them, well other than Mom. Ah, my gaze waivers at the thought of Mom, but Silena couldn't overpower the gaze and cracks.
"Alright Perce, gods you are persistent. But if you are going to be my student, then you should probably go to sleep now, because I feel like we have been up too long. Demigods should probably have stricter schedules than normal mortals, but here we are." Silena explains. I nod mutely, partly because I haven't drunk water yet since my bottle is on my bed.
I head down the ladder, rather quickly as to quicken the process of me getting down. I don't I just don't like the feeling in the air. As I touchdown on the ground, I spin myself around to see how Silena retrieved the ladder earlier, but she is already on the floor. The ladder is locked up somewhere above and she is ready to sleep.
"Alright lil brother, thank you for the boost," Silena smiles shyly, as she nudges me. I whip around, stunned.
"Wait, wha-" I say stunned. No no no no this is bad, this lie has gone too far.
"What?" Silena sounds hurt. Oh crap, I can't hurt her. I'm feeling really bad when I let down a person. I can't, I'll explain it to her later, I don't know when, but I will. I can't keep this away from her. She is one of the only ones who were friendly to me.
"Nothing, I just tired," I lie.
"Yeah me too, see that's why you gotta listen to me," Silena jokes. I just laugh weakly. Silena strides towards the lights. Now that I'm wondering, how did no one notice that the lights are on? I guess they are just used to the Aphrodite cabin not listening to the rules. The lights turn off and I set my head on the pillow. I instantly start nodding off.
Just before I get unconscious, I realize something. What happened when Aphrodite tried to bless me?
Ink- The shoes I was talking about earlier that Aphrodite was wearing are the Nike Blazer 77 Flora Pack in Indigo. Also, Percy's were the New Balance BB480LV1 in White with Timberwolf and Nike SB Bruin React in Dark Obsidian Hyper Jade. I swear these names for the colors are mad weird. Like I said at the beginning, I'm taking a break for around a month, since school is about to start, until next time. Au Revoir!
