Phew... finally got the next chapter done!

Enjoy! ;)

Chapter 12: Wrath of the Reset Bomb

"Trifle… Are you alright?" Jewel asked cautiously, as things were now a little tense in Palutena's Temple: Trifle has been feeling grumpy all day, and wouldn't stop muttering bad things about Viridi.

"No, I'm not alright." Trifle retorted. "The more I think about that stupid loli goddess and her hypocrisy towards humans, the more I want to beat her up for that!"

"We get where you're going with and we agree that what she's doing is wrong, but don't you think that beating her up is a bit extreme?" Eight asked.

Trifle only scoffed in response. "Say what you want, but if we ever find a way to confront her directly, I'm going to give her a piece of my mind."

"I… wouldn't do that recklessly." Palutena advised. "You do know that you're challenging a goddess, right? And besides, she probably doesn't like direct confrontation that much so maybe we should leave her alone."

"Pfft, right… leave her alone." Trifle rolled his eyes. "How can you say that when she WON'T STOP TALKING TRASH ABOUT HUMANS!?"

"Woah, watch your volume!" Pit exclaimed after everyone else flinched by Trifle's sudden outburst. "Let's not go too overboard about this, okay?"

"Ugh… whatever you say."

"Okay, tell us, Trifle… Why exactly are you so mad at Viridi's hatred of humanity?" Melia asked.

Trifle sighed. "Because… She reminded me of someone very close to me who shared a similar kind of hatred and attitude…"

"And who that might be?"

"King Zacharia Cerulean I… My father."

[BGM: Regret – Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition]

Everyone else, except for Zelda, had their eyes open wide in shock. "Your father…?" Shulk breathed.

Trifle sighed again. "It all started back when I was 2 years old, where I and my father went to pay a visit to the Kingdom of Hyrule so that he could see his long-lost brother, King Rhoam, and that I could meet a distant cousin of mine, whom you all know well is Zelda. After that first visit, I and Zelda became so close that my father settled that we would always visit them every week, and since then, I would always go play with Zelda while my father would have friendly conversations with his brother, aka, Zelda's father. But then one day… when I was 7 years old, my father and Rhoam got into a horrible argument, and it began when Rhoam rejected my father's proposal of uniting both kingdoms of Hyrule and Labrynna."

"And why did he reject that?" Eleven asked.

"Because he thought that by doing this, there would be religious and cultural conflicts between the Hylian and human races." Zelda answered for Trifle.

"Thank you, Zelda." Trifle said. "Anyways… because of that argument, my father started hating Hylians. I remember that he kept saying that Hylians were selfish and arrogant who consider themselves to be superior than humans, but I knew that not all of them are the same. Does that sound like someone we know?"

Everyone knew exactly who he meant. "Oh…" Solo said.

"And it gets worse. As soon as his hatred consumed him, my father forbade me to see Zelda ever again just because she was Hylian like her father. You all can't tell how heartbroken I was when he said that to me."

"I was heartbroken too." Zelda crestfalled. "And… we haven't seen each other for 13 years ever since that day."

"13 years?! Oh my…" Jewel's eyes widened.

"I and my mother, Queen Carlisle, tried our best to convince him that not all Hylians were that bad, but he refused to listen… and then he said that he would declare war on Hyrule in order to get revenge on Rhoam." Trifle continued.

Everyone gasped. "He actually said that? Now that's taking things way too far, even for me." Arusu said.

"Yes, he did say that and went down that dark path. I and my mother could clearly tell that the old Zacharia was dead, and that a vengeful new one took his place. So, the war happened… and Labrynna lost the battle. The result was a massive decline for the kingdom, and a lot of people suffered from hunger. As for my father, he suffered from a massive breakdown and I and my mother could do nothing about him, and we would always listen to him talking trash about Hylians almost all day." Trifle was on the verge of tears by now. "And then… once I turned 9, disaster struck both on Labrynna and Hyrule; the Demon King Ganon broke free of his ancient seal and attacked both kingdoms. A lot of lives were lost… including those of my parents."

"Oh no…" Eight frowned sadly, as did the others.

"I remember that my parents told me to run away from the kingdom that I had spent so much time growing up if I wanted to survive, and when I did, I looked back to see them getting brutally impaled by Ganon's claws. Tears gushed out of my eyes, of course, but I still kept on running and I didn't look back anymore after that. Soon after the attack ceased and Ganon had been sealed away again, I was found by a blacksmith by the name of Marcus, and so I was raised by him. And as I reached my adult years, I heard that Labrynna has been reconstructed, but it was no longer considered a kingdom anymore… and I think it might be for the best."

Everyone was left astonished by Trifle's tragic backstory. "Oh my goodness… Trifle, I… I never knew you had such a tragic past…" Jewel breathed. "And I've been your girlfriend for quite a while, too…"

"It's fine, my beloved…" Trifle replied. "But, because of all the torment I went through with my father's hatred towards Hylians, that's the reason why I would loathe anyone who despises humans, my race, thinking they're all the same and the best way to fixing their problems is with omnicide. And that Viridi is no different."

"We can clearly see that now." Pit said.

"But, wait…" Palutena began. "You didn't agree at all with your father's view of Hylians, even going all out on declaring war on them, right? Yet you're wanting to beat up Viridi because of her view towards humans, which sounds almost the same as declaring war on her. Aren't you basically doing the same thing as your father did?"

"That's exactly what I was going to say!" Melia threw in.

Trifle's face went sour again. "It doesn't change anything. If she does show up in person to us, I'm going to let her have it."

"…I still think you're blowing this out of proportion."

"Oh, you think I am?!" Trifle lashed out at Melia. "Don't you know what we're facing with?! A hypocrite goddess wanting to erase all humans in existence, for Hylia's sake! And from what she said before, she's going to launch another doomsday bomb somewhere else… and I'm going to tear it down once we find it. And I've said this multiple times, and I'm going to say it again… If she comes in to face us, I'm going to kick her ass while I'm at it, and that's final!" after saying that, he walked off in a huff.

[BGM End]

A moment of stunned silence occurred between everyone in the room, until Pit broke it, "Uh… Is he going to be okay?"

"Oh, don't worry about him. He's just on edge with this whole ordeal." Zelda assured. "Hopefully he won't get himself killed if he does fight Viridi, though."

"You and me both." Jewel said.

"In fact, there could be a logical explanation for why he wants to beat up Viridi so badly." Solo interfered. "He might disagree with Zacharia's actions, but that doesn't stop him from possibly inheriting his vengeful nature… and I believe he might not be realizing that he's technically following his father's footsteps."

A troubled look appeared on everyone's faces. "Oh, boy… Let's just hope Trifle won't end up losing himself like his father did…" Eleven trailed off.

Sometime later…

"We're headin' out!" Pit said as he and his friends ran out the gates, and once they did, they were met by the sight of the Underworld Army and the Forces of Nature battling each other among several floating islands.

[BGM: Wrath of the Reset Bomb – Kid Icarus Uprising]

"The Underworld Army and the Forces of Nature are engaged in battle." Palutena said.

"What? Why are Hades and Viridi fighting?" Eight wondered.

"Isn't it obvious?" Viridi spoke up.

"You again…" Trifle growled quietly with a clear hint of venom in his voice.

"These brutes have a complete disregard for life. They're even worse than humans!"

"Ho ho ho! You're one to talk, little goddess!" Hades chuckled. "At least I give the humans YOU kill peace after death."

Pit then flew closer to Trifle and gave him a little nudge. "Hey… At least Viridi doesn't consider humans to be the worst things in existence, see?" he said sheepishly with a shrug, hoping to give Trifle a hope spot and make him chill out.

Obviously, that didn't work out the slightest. "Tch, I don't care." Trifle replied with a glare. "All I'm concerned about is stopping that brat from unleashing another one of those doomsday bombs before I beat the crap out of her if she ever decides to confront us." he said and proceeded to shoot at a few Nutskis, making Pit sigh in defeat before opening fire at a Belunka right from below him.

"We have an opportunity here, everyone. Let's use this chaos to our advantage." Palutena said.

"OK. What's our target?" Pit asked.

"Viridi is planning to drop another Reset Bomb in this area." everyone's eyes immediately perked up by that, especially Trifle's. He'd been waiting for this.

"What? Where exactly?!" Shulk asked.

"I'm still not sure."

"And with Hades's army after them too, the humans don't stand a chance!" Zelda exclaimed. "We have to do something!"

The gang then flew higher and higher into the sky, taking out a few monsters from both opposing armies while looking for the bomb. Eventually, just like last time, Jewel managed to catch sight of something falling in the far distance.

"I think I see the bomb!" she reported, pointing at it.

"We'd better hurry!" Palutena ushered.

"Roger! That bomb won't be resetting anything when we're done with it!" Trifle proclaimed as they all flew off towards the bomb.

"What mischief are you all getting into now?" Viridi questioned. "Rise, my children, and pluck these dweebs from the air!"

"Dweebs?!" came the gang's offended reply, while cross-popping veins appeared on Trifle's head.

"I swear to Hylia, she REALLY knows how to make me pissed off…" Trifle thought.

"I'm sorry, but that's one point for Viridi." Palutena chuckled.

"Thanks a lot…" Arusu grumbled in annoyance.

"Yeah? Well…every dweeb has his day!" Pit said.

"Hmm… Make that two points for Viridi." Palutena replied.

"Oh, come on! Whose side are you on?!"

"The funny side."

"Well, I need you on my side!"

Everyone kept flying up, shooting down several Badoots on the way, and soon enough, they made it out of the clouds and finally reached the falling Reset Bomb. "The Reset Bomb is going to wreak havoc if it hits the ground!" Pit said.

"There's NOTHING natural about that." Palutena chimed in as they flew down after the bomb once it fell past them.

"How do we stop it?!" Eleven asked.

"Careful – the bomb could explode if you all just start shooting indiscriminately." Palutena warned, and then she saw some green targets on it. "Oh, I know. Destroy the green targets to remove the crown and expose the core. Then destroy the core."

"Huh! It's like a shooting game. I can almost feel the controller in my hands!" Pit exclaimed before they began aiming at the green targets and shooting. It took a while, but the gang managed to destroy all green targets and expose the bomb's yellow core.

"The core's exposed. Hurry!"

"Come on, bomb! Do your worst!" Pit roared as everyone opened fire at the core. Several shots later, the core was successfully destroyed and the now harmless bomb fell down. "Yeah! Destructimated!"

"Ha! Eat it, Viridi!" Trifle grinned.

"I don't believe this!" Viridi shouted in disbelief.

"I know! Isn't it wonderful?" Palutena smiled before accelerating the gang's wings, hoisting them high in the air again. "But we can't rest yet. Viridi has a Reset Bomb factory that we need to shut down. Once we deal with it, that'll be the end of these horrid things."

"Aye aye!" Pit responded. "Your reign of destruction ends here, Viridi!"

As they continued their way up, the gang found themselves flying over some what appear to be plant-shaped battleships as they were shooting at several Forces of Nature troops. "Watch out, everyone!" Palutena warned… as the ships suddenly began to open fire at the gang with laser beams.

"Laser beams?!" Melia exclaimed as the gang did their best to evade all this enemy fire.

"Children! You must protect the Reset Bomb Depot!" Viridi commanded in a desperate tone.

"It won't work, Viridi!" Trifle barked. "OK, we get it. You have a problem with us humans… but FOR THE LAST GODDAMN TIME, most of us aren't that bad and more destruction won't help ANYTHING!"

"Oh, please. Why should I even listen to you… especially since you're working with that flying munitions depot himself!" she referred to Pit at the last sentence.

"Flying munitions depot…?" Pit wondered.

"Seriously, you're ALL as destructive as a hundred Reset Bombs!"

"WE'RE destructive?!" Trifle shot back. "Says the one who previously destroyed A WHOLE TOWN in the blink of an eye!"

"And plus, we're destroying evil! It's totally different! Look it up." Jewel smirked.

The gang eventually managed to fly past all the battleships and reached a huge, floating island littered with large leaves and crystalline structures, and on its underside were multiple Reset Bombs protruding from it that looked like they could fall off at any moment.

"We're approaching the Reset Bomb Depot." Palutena told them.

"Wow… This is not what I was expecting." Solo awed.

"It's huge!" Eight exclaimed.

"I'll look for a place to land." Palutena said as the gang flew around the Depot, killing off more Forces of Nature troops while doing so. After circling around the entire Depot, the gang next flew into a long corridor before going down a long tunnel afterwards, and then they emerged out from the other side of the Depot. "Up here looks like a good spot. Prepare for landing. It could get a little rough!"

Trifle paled up. "Oh, no…" aaaaand they shot up into the air.

"WAAAAH!" they all screamed, as they came diving down towards the Depot.

[BGM End]

[BGM: Reset Bomb Depot (Exterior) – Kid Icarus Uprising]

Because of that hard dive, the gang had landed sprawled on the ground. Palutena then made the group's Magic Wings disappear before they all got back up on their feet.

"Sure, a third time wouldn't hurt…" Trifle grumbled sarcastically, and then they proceeded to walk forward.

"Just going to stroll in without backup? That's brave, if not very smart." Viridi snarked. "Rise, my children! Politely destroy our guests!" and right on cue, a small wave of Nutskis came to greet the gang.

"And how exactly do you politely destroy someone?" Melia questioned as they shot at the Nutskis.

"Hello there! Welcome to Viridi's Reset Bomb Depot!" Palutena announced playfully. "We would love to give you a tour of our facilities, but by order of Mistress Viridi, we're afraid that we must destroy you. We hope you don't take this personally and have a nice day!"

"Very. Funny." Arusu muttered flatly with a deadpan look.

After getting rid of the Nutskis, the gang ran down the path and made it into a square, where they suddenly found themselves trapped as two small cyclopic bombs with wheels confronted them.

"What is this?" Zelda wondered.

"That's a Bumpety Bomb." Viridi answered.

"Cute name. It almost feels wrong to destroy them." Palutena smiled. "…Oh, well. Just watch out for their blast radius, everyone!" she warned as they easily got rid of the Bumpety Bombs, which exploded and took out a Zert in the process and then the barriers on the square disappeared, allowing the gang to continue on. "I brought a few Cherubots for you."

"Oh, sweet!" Shulk beamed as he instantly hopped on one, Pit hopping on the second one and Trifle getting on the last one.

"Oh ho ho! Now this is what I'm talking about!" Trifle grinned, picturing himself beating the crap out of Viridi while on the Cherubot.

"I can't imagine those piles of metal being very fuel efficient." Viridi said, watching the Cherubot trio making a mess of things on her Depot.

"Actually, they run on goddess power, which is totally renewable." Palutena replied with a hint of smugness in her voice as the gang fell down into a circular arena, where they found themselves in the middle of a fight between two groups of Urgles and Skuttlers.

"Dang it, Hades! Get your filthy troops out of MY bomb depot!" Viridi demanded.

"You're awfully cute when you're flustered, rosebud." Hades teased.

"…Did he just attempt to flirt with her?" the group thought dumbfounded.

"The Underworld Army and the Forces of Nature are still fighting." Pit pointed out the obvious.

"Then take them BOTH out." Palutena said.

Everyone immediately spread out and opened fire on all enemies on the arena. Two of the Urgles attempted to charge at the Cherubot drivers, but Trifle just swatted the two away with his Cherubot's melee arm, and then a Belunka came in, only to get pelted to death by multiple shots from the gang before it could even summon reinforcements.

"Destructified!" Pit declared as the way forward opened for them. "All right, Cherubots. Good job." Pit said as he, Shulk and Trifle got out of their Cherubots so that they could use the jump pad with the others and make their way to a long walkway with some walls… where a Lethinium's laser nearly struck them. "Wowza!" Pit yelped, he and his friends quickly running behind the nearest wall.

"Lasers seem like overkill." Palutena commented.

"We usually get much bigger enemies here." Viridi said.

"Too bad Pit and his friends are just so…tiny."

"Hey, we can hear you, you know!" Arusu snapped.

"Well, if a bigger enemy does show up, I can just use my Size Peridot!" Jewel winked before shooting a pink blast with her Blast Pink Tourmaline to take out the Lethinium as they proceeded onwards, but there was another Lethinium up ahead as it fired a laser at them, forcing them to quickly take cover again before Solo sniped it with his staff.

With that taken care of, the gang made their way across the rest of the walkway until they reached a small circular platform and found themselves facing off against a literal living mass of mud.

"There's nothing like fighting a pile of mud to make a guy feel tough." Eleven said, he along with Arusu and Eight recalling their several encounters with Muddy Hands and their tendency to call for backup when things get tough for them.

"Mudrones are pretty resilient, so you all actually DO need to be tough to fight them." Palutena replied. "To completely defeat them, you have to take them down three times."

"THREE times?!" the gang yelled.

"…Yeah, I'd rather fight dozens of Muddy Hands than this thing." Eight said, with Eleven and Arusu nodding in agreement.

Three KOs later, the Mudrone finally melted away and the gang went down the path, seeing two Handoras battling a Pew Pew. The gang defeated them all and went up a path with walls of purple electricity dividing it down the middle.

"I really don't think we should be touching these walls." Pit noted.

"Good instincts." Palutena said.

"Bok bok bok!" Viridi imitated a chicken. "What are you? Chicken?"

"No, we're just sane." Solo replied sternly. "There's a difference."

They made their way up, where they were met by a few Cacaws and Skreetles that were easily taken care of, and next they found themselves at a crossroads. They moved around, avoiding two rotating electric walls by timing them just right and soon entered another arena, in which they could see two Skuttlers battling a Boom Stomper.

"More Underworld forces!" Viridi exclaimed in exasperation.

"I get what Viridi has against Hades. He's destructive and evil. But what does Hades have against Viridi?" Pit wondered as they proceeded to take down the enemies.

"I think you answered your own question. Destruction is fun for him." Palutena pointed out.

"Well, five points for the squares!" Hades chimed in enthusiastically. "It's true. This is just my idea of a good time. Not that these serious ladies would know anything about having a good time."

"Don't even put Lady Palutena in the same sentence as the goddess of brutality!" Pit barked.

"It's goddess of nature!" Viridi corrected, with annoyance in her tone.

"Yeah, a nature goddess that's brutal." Trifle muttered, dodging a Captain Flare's meteors before shooting it back.

"You'd think the lord of the Underworld would be too busy for mischief making." Palutena said.

"Oh, no. Making mischief is one of my principal responsibilities." Hades replied nonchalantly.

Once all enemies in the arena were dealt with, a door opened up, revealing an elevator on the other side. The gang wasted no time in taking the elevator and going down to the interior of the depot.

[BGM: Reset Bomb Depot (Interior) – Kid Icarus Uprising]

The interior of the Depot was not something the gang would be expecting: it was vast and mostly colored blue everywhere. "We're approaching the bottom of the fortress." Palutena informed.

"Everything seems to be made out of natural materials." Shulk observed, taking in his surroundings as they were going down the path while shooting at some Nutskis and Monoeyes.

"Viridi sure is quite an ecological goddess, isn't she?" Melia remarked.

"So true. And I guess Reset Bombs must grow like fruit." Palutena said.

"ORGANIC fruit." Viridi corrected proudly.

"And when it's ripe, it falls off the vine and just organically destroys everything in its path?" Hades guessed.

"That's not exactly how it goes."

"But I'm in the ballpark, aren't I?"

"Nature dictates that all life must eventually break down. This is just an accelerated version of that process!"

"The only thing accelerating is how fast we'll trash this place!" Trifle declared.

Reaching a crossroads, the gang took the left path and jumped across some gaps to reach a treasure chest at the end. However… that chest turned out to be a Mimicutie.

"Oh, come on!" Arusu complained.

"Neener neener!" Viridi taunted as the gang proceeded to destroy the Mimicutie before going back to take the right path from the crossroads, killing any more Forces of Nature troops that got on their path and then they used a jump pad, only to be met by a Toxiecap and a Pew Pew. "Children! Destroy these intruders!" Viridi commanded.

"Not on our watch!" Pit proclaimed as they easily defeated both enemies, but then the next one that appeared was pretty peculiar; it looked like a rhino beetle with long legs.

"What's the deal with this enemy?" Eleven wondered.

"It's called a Meeba, and it's actually a kind of parasitic fungus." Viridi replied.

"That shell will block your attacks. Try getting behind it first." Palutena advised.

"Hey! Who asked for your advice?!"

"Too late now!" Jewel grinned, going behind the Meeba to attack it repeatedly until it was defeated.

They pressed onwards, getting rid of a Boom Stomper on the way before jumping across some gaps and using another jump pad to get onto a grind rail, making enthusiastic cheers as they traversed it.

Viridi, however, was a little bugged out by their enthusiasm. "Are you always so insufferably upbeat?"

"And what's wrong with that? It's always good to have a positive outlook on life, Viridi." Eight smiled, his optimism kicking in.

"Well, for one… humans like you should be dead by now, and two… upbeat annoys me to no end!"

"…Oh, how I want to throttle you so badly right now…" Trifle growled, wanting to tear Viridi into pieces. And even though Trifle couldn't see it, Viridi was basically sticking her tongue out at him in response with a teasing face that just screams 'Bleeeh! You can't even reach me~!'.

Eventually, they hopped out of the grind rail, but before they could continue, they were ambushed by a Megonta and two Cacaws. The gang first rolled out of the way to avoid the Megonta's rolling attack, and then the group attacked it back while Pit took care of the Cacaws by firing shots from his Guardian Orbitars. Then, they used the jump pads to reach the next platform, and this one had three Bumpety Bombs, two Skreetles and a Zert on it this time, but because there was a bomb in the center, the gang just fired a shot at it to make it explode and obliterate all of the enemies instantly. A jump pad appeared afterwards as the gang used it to get to the upper level and walk around while dealing with more Forces of Nature troops.

"Fight harder, children!" Viridi commanded. "They're just nine little humans and one little angel! If this fortress goes down, that's the end of all Reset Bombs."

"That's right." Palutena said. "Ready yourself, goddess of nature!"

Once enough monsters were defeated, an elevator nearby appeared for the gang as they got on it, and it proceeded to take them up… and back to the Depot's exterior.

[Replay "Reset Bomb Depot (Exterior)" BGM]

"Wait, we're back outside?" Solo asked.

"This is disorienting…" Pit trailed off… and right on cue, they were ambushed by a swarm of Nutskis, Dibble Dops, Zerts, Skreetles, Urgles, Meebas, and a Boom Stomper. Luckily, Jewel and Eleven found two Cherubots nearby as they decided to hop on them and aid the others with destroying the enemies while piloting the Cherubots.

"Aw yeah!" Jewel cheered, she and Eleven hopping off the Cherubots once all enemies were defeated and high-fiving each other before everyone moved up the path, heading towards a nearby crystalline structure.

"This will take you to the heart of the depot up ahead." Palutena said.

"It's so close!" Zelda exclaimed.

"In Palutena's name, we will eliminate the threat of the Reset Bomb!" Pit proclaimed.

"Yeah!" the others cheered.

"It's time to put an end to the Reset Bombs once and for all!" Palutena declared.

With that, the gang went forward and took down the last line of defense before they walked into the door, and went down another elevator.

[BGM End]

As Palutena said before, the elevator took the gang to the heart of the Depot. In this large room, a glowing round rainbow-colored object was hanging over a pit by vines and branches.

"Everyone, destroy the Reset Bomb Pod to take down the entire depot." Palutena instructed.

"Not a problem!" Trifle smirked.

"That's what you think!" Viridi shouted. "Guards! Wake up and report for duty!"

At that moment, green robotic figures from behind the Pod suddenly jerked awake and jumped up, landing in front of the gang. One problem was… the guards were short in numbers compared to the gang of 10.

"…Really? That's it?" Arusu questioned.

[BGM: Wrath of the Reset Bomb – Super Smash Bros For 3DS/Wii U]

"Ugh! I should've brought more soldiers. More competent soldiers!" Viridi groaned in disappointment.

"Sorry about that, sprout. I'm afraid they're busy fighting my guys." Hades smirked.

"But you have to admit, Hades. My troops are no joke, right?"

"Oh, yes, they're just terrifying. Quake-in-your-boots terrifying."

One of the guards opened fire at Eight with its cannon, but he casted Bounce to send the energy shot back at it before repeatedly shooting it with his palm, as its fiery shots were slowly burning down the guard's armor since it was made out of leaves, and then Shulk came in swinging his Monado at the guard, cutting off its arm. Meanwhile, Eleven blocked a cannon swipe from another guard by raising his club above his head, causing the guard to recoil back and giving Eleven the chance to whack it away and into the pit below. As for the two remaining guards, one of them was bisected at the waist by Arusu, while the other was decapitated by Trifle.

"Fire away at the pod, everybody!" Trifle exclaimed as they all gladly did so… but no damage was dealt to the Pod.

"No use! There's a shell protecting the Reset Bomb Pod!" Pit noted. "How do we crack it?"

"Try blasting a guard into the trench." Palutena suggested. "The resulting explosion will help knock the shell loose, which is your cue to fire away!"

"Alright! …Only problem is, we already took out the guards…" Shulk replied sheepishly… but just then, more Forces of Nature Guards came into the scene to replace the destroyed ones. "Oh… Never mind!"

"Plus, I've already knocked one down the trench, so let's send some more down there!" Eleven said.

One guard aimed its cannon at the gang and fired a laser, but they dodged it and Solo shot a Kaboom at the guards, causing them to get blown back by the explosion. Coincidentally, two of the guards just so happened to be close to the trench before the Kaboom spell was fired, and so they were both sent down into the trench by the explosion. Next, one of the two remaining guards unleashed rapid fire shots at Melia, but she dodged them all and first used Shadow Stitch to bind the guard in place before attacking it with Spear Break and Starlight Kick to topple it to the ground, and then Jewel fired a charged shot at it, sending it into the trench too. The last guard then suddenly turned its arm cannon into a sword and charged at the gang to swing its sword at them, but they just stepped out of the way as Pit stuck his foot out to make the guard trip before Zelda kicked it into the trench.

With a total of five guards in the trench, an explosion occurred, and the shell around the Reset Bomb Pod was destroyed.

"The shell is off!" Pit exclaimed.

"Now's your chance! Attack!" Palutena hollered.

And with that, everyone immediately proceeded to annihilate the Reset Bomb Pod as it was soon destroyed before its shell grew back.

[BGM End]

"Obliteration!" Pit declared.

"Ha ha! The Reset Bombs are no more!" Trifle exclaimed.

Just then, before the gang could celebrate, the Depot began to rumble, making them cry out in surprise as they stumbled a bit. Thankfully, at this exact moment, Pit's wings glowed while the Magic Wings appeared on the group's backs.

"Let's get you all out of here!" Palutena said and guided everyone out… buuuut the explosion caught up to them, sending them all careening out of the Depot that was slowly falling apart.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!" they screamed.

"My depot! THAT'S IT! YOU ALL ARE NOW OFFICIALLY AT THE TOP OF MY TO-KILL LIST!" Viridi yelled furiously.

"Uh-oh. I'd better get you out of there, everyone." Palutena said, quickly whisking the gang away.

Later, at Viridi's Temple…

"AAAARRGH! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" Viridi screeched. "My last Reset Bomb Depot, DESTROYED! And what's even worse, it was not only destroyed by an angel… BUT BY FREAKING HUMANS! JUST WHAT KIND OF HUMANS EVEN ARE THEY?!"

"Ahem." a voice came from behind Viridi as she turned around. "Perhaps some green tea will help you calm your nerves, dear mistress?"

"…Thank you, Arlon." Viridi said, taking the tea from Arlon's tray and drinking it.

"Feeling better now?"

"…A little." Viridi muttered.

"I understand your frustration, mistress. Say, if it's not too much trouble, perhaps I should take a crack at Pit and his apparently 'special' human friends?"

"Sure…go for it." Viridi sighed.

"Then I shall go make preparations right now." Arlon began to leave. "Somehow, I'm having a feeling that they might head out to the Lunar Sanctum… and I have to make sure that they won't let it escape in the process." he turned around one last time to make a bow. "Take care, mistress Viridi." he then left.

To be continued…

Well, now you all know why Trifle despises Viridi so much. I did my best to write Trifle's backstory as detailed as I could by taking the summarized version of it from FrenchMarioBros's profile of his character. And, FrenchMarioBros, if you're reading this, I hope you liked the way I wrote your character's backstory! ;D

Off to the Lunar Sanctum next! But...who's this "it" that Arlon mentioned? You actually won't be finding that out until much later in the story. Well, see you next time!

Trivia for this chapter:

1. During this chapter's aerial mission in the game, if one looks closely at the sky outside of the Depot near the visible galaxy, a large spherical object can be seen in the distance. It could possibly be the Lunar Sanctum itself, as if the game is foreshadowing where the next chapter is going to take place.
