Hi, everyone! I hope you all enjoy this story as much as I did while writing it. Please feel free to review, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Disclaimer: I don't own My Hero Academia or any of its characters. Mizuki, however, is my own creation.
Let's start with the story, shall we?*
Chapter 38
The last two days of the internship went by faster than anyone anticipated. Mizuki kept strictly to her routine. She woke up early each morning and went on her morning jog, followed by a day of paperwork and ended with her training session.
She and Shoto found themselves occupied with one another during that time. She developed her new technique and tried to work around Shoto's flames as he consciously tried to control the temperature.
She wasn't going to admit it aloud, but it was enjoyable to practice with him. He brought a certain calmness along and didn't laugh at her even if she face-planted herself against the wall…multiple times.
She never would've thought that she would be able to talk comfortably and normally with the male. He was another promising future hero in her class that she initially only wanted to beat and now he was a friend. It was nice.
Between the busy activities, she managed to dot down each and every single costume of the flaming sidekicks and Endeavor's costume. As soon as she had the chance, she made adjustments to her designing.
"You want a baby that can flush out steam on your legs when you heighten your temperature…" Mei's voice said over the phone, Mizuki holding the phone in place by pressing her ear into her shoulder while finishing with packing her costume.
"Yes, I was thinking of bracers or even adjustments to my combat boots. I can send you the costume layout and designing," Mizuki replied, putting away her combat boots. She clicked the metal case closed and took the phone in her hand.
"Hehehe, no need! I made sure to keep a copy of it!" Mizuki paled, her skin colouring blue beneath her eyes. "Also, I think I have the perfect baby for you! With a few adjustments it will be perfect! You can count on me!" Mei told her and Mizuki smiled.
"Thank you. Sorry that I suddenly put this on you. You can take your time with it. I don't need it urgently at all. I owe you one, Mei," Mizuki said, relief laced in her voice. As long as there was a way that she could improve her technique, she was happy.
"Don't mention it! I've been tinkering endlessly until I got a project like this!" Mei replied and laughed in an evil way making Mizuki swallow thickly. The crazy pink haired female was going to do something unnecessary again and make Power Loader scold her.
"Ah! You're at your internship…what day is it again? Oh…! It's your last day. It's already been a week?!" Mizuki sweat dropped. "Anyway, I hope that it all went well that side! I have a lot to show you so don't forget to come around!" Mei said and Mizuki chuckled.
"I'll be sure to take a turn there when I get back. I'll see you soon and thanks again for everything," Mizuki ended the call after Mei said her goodbyes. She chuckled once again as she stared at her phone's empty screen.
That girl is bonkers.
"HEY!" Mizuki's door was slammed open with much force, revealing a familiar copper green haired female. "Shouldn't you have left already?! Seriously! Let go of your room!" Burnin shouted and then laughed.
Burnin wore her usual confident grin, her eyes screaming with energy. As always, she burst inside the room without an attempt to even knock. Luckily, Mizuki wasn't sleeping or she would've damaged her begging again.
"I'm going! I'm going! Geez, can't a girl catch a break here?" Mizuki asked, only to feel the intense and heated gaze that was upon her. Burnin's face showed her disbelief mixed with shock and surprise.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" Mizuki asked once again, wondering what was the reason behind her speechlessness. It was odd for her to not have anything to say, especially since she had an endless amount of vocabulary.
"You…Why are you dressed up like that?" Burnin asked, pointing at Mizuki's outfit. The female wore a turquoise coloured summer dress complimented by leather boots, belt and over jacket, giving it a sophisticated and rough around the edges image.
"Don't tell me…you're going to party?! Are you a delinquent?!"
"No!" Mizuki snapped at the female, veins pulsing out from her head. She let out a sigh and slung her backpack with her necessities around her shoulder. In her other hand she had her silver case containing her costume.
"I was invited to dinner and I hate it not to look my best. It's a designer's duty to always stay fashionable," Mizuki told the female, pride shining around her. She grinned confidently, eyes blazing brightly.
"A date?"
"A dinner! D-I-N-N-E-R!" Mizuki spelled out each of the words and then sighed in defeat. "Why am I even trying to explain this to you…?" She wondered aloud. She must've known by now that the female was quite impossible to handle.
"Haha! Like I believe that! Well, I didn't come here to listen to your love life. Endeavor wants to see you before you go," Burnin told her and then blinked. "But you might want to hurry since he told me that ten minutes ago."
"You're shitting me! Why didn't you say so sooner?!" Mizuki asked and burst out of the room. Burnin watched as the female ran off and rested her hand palms on her hips. She let out a laugh and then walked in the opposite direction.
"Just kidding~!"
Mizuki cursed the female flaming hot sidekick all the way until she reached Endeavor's office. Burnin could've told her everything beforehand but she had to tease her first. She would never understand what was going through the female's mind.
Mizuki took a breath, clicking her tongue in irritancy as she adjusted her clothing. The last person she needed on her state of clothing was Endeavor. He always had something to say about her 'discipline' and 'manners'.
As she stood in front of the door, she found herself smirking. This was the very plane where she entered on the first day of her internship. She expected the worst to happen and it led to a more rewarding internship in the end.
Hosu. Nomus. Gran Torino. Hero Killer.
Everything felt so long ago and yet, it was all still fresh in her memory. She could feel a tinge of embarrassment as she thought about how she reacted at the hospital. The trio honestly made her worry.
Burnin. Endeavor. Hero Tasks. Self-discipline.
Mizuki looked at the wooden door in front of her and then knocked. He scowled at her the last time she burst inside and didn't have the patience to deal with his aggressiveness. Despite his rejection to train her and banishment to a desk, she still learned a lot regarding administration and regulations of hero work.
"Come in."
Mizuki opened the door and stepping inside the enormously spacious office. She had wondered on several occasions why he had this much open space. Then again, if it was to make his ego feel at home, he was going to need much more than a building.
"You're early. It seems that some manners stuck with you," Endeavor said, standing behind his desk. His flames floated around his face and costume, his arrogant and cool gaze resting on Mizuki's figure.
Mizuki resisted a remark, his words making her briefly stop. She was early? She could hear the laughter of Burnin in her head and gritted her teeth. That woman! She made her rush on purpose! Mizuki was going to kill her when she saw her again.
Mizuki let out a breath, walking towards his desk in a reluctant stride. "I heard that you wanted to see me before I left. Are you going to lecture me again? Or tell me how much of an eyesore I was?" Mizuki asked, her voice laced with sarcasm and made the male's eye twitch.
"As far as I'm concerned, you don't listen to good advice." I do, just not yours, Asshole. "Unfortunately, I have to commend you on your work. Your work was neat and organized. I only received compliments from your time sitting at the desk," Endeavor stated and Mizuki gave him a smug look.
She wondered how much he hated to give her an indirect compliment. He was probably going to throw one hell of a tantrum later on. She might not have gotten everything she wanted out of the internship but she was satisfied with his agitated expression.
"However, it is not the work of a hero to be chained to a desk while doing paperwork." He just had to add something. "You seem to have learned your place somewhat. I hope you remember what it feels like losing," Endeavor said and Mizuki's brows twitched.
"Use that anger and frustration to push yourself to become stronger," Endeavor said as the door to his office opened behind her. Mizuki's eyes were wide, mouth almost gaping at what the male said. It was difficult to process what just happened.
Did he… Did he just… What happened…?
"Shoto!" Endeavor's booming voice had Mizuki snapping out of her thoughts. She glanced back at the teenager male that stepped inside, his different coloured eyes both showing a gleam of annoyance.
"Mizuki, I see you're early," Shoto said as he completely blew off his father's shouting. Mizuki resisted a snicker at the number two hero's briefly frozen state. Shoto went to stand next to her and gave her an acknowledgeable nod.
Endeavor, who was shunned out, cleared his throat and regained his composure. He gazed at the two in front of him, brows furrowing. Mizuki and Shoto's relationship had developed in such a short time. He didn't know what exactly was between them. It was…unsettling.
"The internship ends here. I hope that you know what it is you lack and that you'll concentrate on improving. Shoto, I trust that you will develop your flash fire. You still have a long way to go," Endeavor said and Shoto frowned slightly.
"Yeah."
"Remember, you're not heroes yet. That means that you can't run off and do as you please. There are important rules and regulations that we need to follow. Doing as you please doesn't make you any better than a villain," Endeavor stated.
"I expect great things from you," Endeavor said those words while looking at Shoto. Mizuki stood on the side, not expecting anything from him. After all the only reason why he scouted her, was because he wanted to show his dominance.
"And you," Endeavor attracted her attention and Mizuki gave him a dry look. She was sure that he was going to get something in right before letting them go. She was waiting. Staring. Expecting the worst.
"You want to be a limitless hero. You better start working on your limits," he told her and Mizuki blinked. "That's all. You're dismissed." Mizuki wasn't given an opportunity to retort as she walked outside, Shoto giving her a glance.
Mizuki's eyes snapped towards the roof, the male jumping in alert with his eyes darting around. Brows knitted together and crimson eyes gleamed with worriedness and anxiousness. She then let out a sigh of relief and ruffled her hair.
"For a moment I thought a piano was going to fall out of the air." Shoto gave her a completely blank and whitened look. "He actually said something decent to me…twice… I think the world is ending now…"
Shoto blinked and then stifled a chuckle. He shook his head and walked off, the ash blonde lingering behind him. "You're weird," Shoto told her with a small smirk. It led to Mizuki making a face that showed the offense she took.
"You wanna go, Ice Bastard?! I don't want to hear that from you!" Mizuki snapped at him, glaring at him with crimson coloured eyes. Shoto watched her from the corner of his vision, taking in her clothing.
"You're dressed…different."
"Hey, hey, you're really bad at giving a compliment, aren't you?" Mizuki said and sighed, holding her head and shaking it. "You're supposed to say 'You're special' or 'You look nice' or 'Your dressed neatly. Something like that. I have a feeling that we're going to have to work on your vocabulary."
Shoto cupped his chin and hummed. Mizuki watched in amusement as he took her words into consideration. It was adorable to watch how he tried to do something about the immature childish part of him.
"You look unique."
Mizuki sweat dropped. "Well, I guess that's better than 'different'," Mizuki murmured to herself and then smirked. "I'm glad that you find it acceptable. This is one of my best designing choices. Though, it was a bit more difficult than you'd think."
"You made it yourself?" Shoto asked, Mizuki giving him a grunt. He was surprised. He thought that she merely drew but it seemed like she was much more talented than he was aware of. Yet, there was once thing he couldn't quite understand.
"That's impressive… That reminds me. I've been pondering on this for a while now. If you love designing and making clothing so much, why did you want to become a hero?" Shoto asked the ash blonde female and Mizuki averted her eyes towards the ground.
"That's because-""You're finally leaving, huh?" Burnin cut her off, crimson eyes meeting a pair of copper green coloured orbs. Burnin stood with a big grin, hands resting on her hips and a laugh escaping her lips.
Sparks appeared in Mizuki's hand palms as she glared at the female. "You made me run in this outfit for nothing…" Mizuki said through gritted teeth, her anger brewing as steam came from her hand palms.
"Huh? Mizuki-chan? Why are you dressed like that?" One of the flame sidekicks asked as he popped in next to Burnin. He was oblivious towards the threatening aura that was directed towards his partner.
"I invited her to dinner," Shoto replied, everyone gaping at his blunt statement. Mizuki, who was about to blow up the female sidekick, stared at him with wide eyes. The way he said it had everyone assuming the wrong thing.
"EH?!"
"Hey, hey, hey, aren't you railing them in, huh? First it was that Red fella and now it's Endeavor's son. You've got balls, Nova!" Burnin laughed and Mizuki flushed with a mixture of anger and embarrassment.
"It's not like that!" Mizuki retorted, giving Shoto a brief glare before something clicked in the back of her head. She looked back at Burnin, her face filled with disbelief. "What did you just call me?" She asked, her aggressive tone gone as fast as it came.
"What? It's your hero name, isn't it?" Burnin pointed out and Mizuki vaguely nodded. She was caught off guard. She's been called 'brat', 'kid' and 'Mizuki-chan' but all this time no one had ever dared to call her by her hero name.
"We've got a dispatch request! Contact the patrol-squad!" A voice boomed over everyone, a male holding a telephone next to his ear as he called. His voice averted their attention towards him, Bunin grinning.
"We'll go! We were on our way for our rounds anyway!" Burnin replied with a wave, her team nodding in reply, shouting 'flame on'. Burnin then looked back at Mizuki who was still in a stunned state and Shoto who stood impassively next to her.
"I guess that's it! We'll see you two around! Make sure you become strong enough so that we'll see you again, next time as heroes!" Burnin said with a laugh, her comrades nodding in agreement. They were both promising future heroes, not only because of their strength but because of their dedication.
"They're full of energy," Shoto mused as he watched the group of flaming sidekicks rush off. They left a bit of smoke behind, duo coloured eyes blinking a few times. They were a lively bunch but he had learned much from them.
"Yeah…"
Shoto observed the female next to him from the corner of her eyes. Mizuki was dazed next to him, crimson eyes staring at the spot where the lively group exited. He watched as she then huffed and a smirk formed onto her lips.
"Definitely not going to miss the way they barged into my room!" She said, chuckling and pocketing her hands in her leather jacket. She was going to miss the energetic bunch and the way they would always treat her to a cooldrink during lunch time. She wasn't going to say it aloud though. She had her own pride and image to uphold.
"We forgot to tell them about the training room," Shoto spoke up next to her, crimson eyes glancing his way. A gleam of mischief passed through her eyes, the male instantly knowing that she was up to something.
"It's a present! You shouldn't spoil surprises! We worked so hard to make it happen. What good is a farewell without a farewell present anyway. Besides, I think Prickhead is going to love it," Mizuki sarcastically ended her statement.
Shoto chuckled, enjoying the way Mizuki was thriving off her 'present' they left his father. He was sure that it was the exact opposite and he was going to hear about it later on. Right now, he merely wanted to feel accomplished.
They walked side by side out of Endeavor Hero Agency, on their way towards the train station. The conversation was light and the silence that occasionally lingered between them. It was a peculiar sight, that neither of them paid any attention to.
Later on…
It was a normal busy day at the Endeavor agency, everyone keeping their heads above the water as she finished off with requests. They were quick to dispatch teams when there were requests that were out of the reach of the patrolling team. There were no problems…except one.
"I think that you should tell him."
"What? No way! He'll scorch me!"
Burnin overheard a conversation and raised an eyebrow as she walked by. The two males were panicking, standing in the hallway that led to Endeavor's office. They were arguing about who was about to inform the number two hero, both filled with panic.
"Tell him what?" Burnin piped in, the two men jumping at her sudden presence. She leaned into their social distance, copper eyes gleaming brightly. The two males gave each other a glance and then swallowed thickly.
"It's about one of the training rooms… It's the one the interns had… It's um…in a very bad state…" He told her, Burnin blinking a few times. A smirk formed and a chuckle escaped her lips as she processed the information.
"We need to tell him right away!"
"W-Wait! Burnin! Wait!" They tried to stop the female from advancing by grabbing her. She walked right through them despite their arms wrapped tightly around her legs. She knocked on the office door, the two men laying by her feet paling.
"What is it?" Emdeavor's voice was laced with annoyance and impatience, only making them panic more. Burnin, on the other hand, was completely unfazed by it all and opened the door, peeking inside.
"Sorry for the disturbance! We seem to have a problem in one of the training rooms," Burnin informed the male. Blue eyes stared at Burnin as she stood with two sidekicks clutching her legs and scoffed, brushing passed it.
"Then sort it out."
"I would but…it's the training room where the interns were…" Burnin trailed off and seemed to catch the male's attention. "If I remember correctly, Nova had been practicing in that room," she added and the male's eye twitched.
"Hey, you're not supposed to call her that!" One of the males glanced up from the ground as he whispered hard enough for her to hear. They all had strict orders never to call the female by her hero name.
Until Endeavor deemed her worthy as a future hero, no one was allowed to call her by her hero name. That's why most of them called her by her name. They didn't want to disobey direct orders from him.
"Mm? You're still here?"
"You're only noticing that now?!"
Burnin laughed and rested her hands on her hips. "What are you doing? Like this will ever stop me!" Burnin stated and the two men let their heads fall in defeat. Burnin then looked at Endeavor, the male quietly observing.
"You already saw something in her, didn't you, Endeavor?" Burnin stated, the two men blinking in confusion while Endeavor frowned. Burnin decided to call Mizuki by her title all on her own without his consent. However, there was something that made her do it.
Burnin was aware that Mizuki had worked harder than anyone had this week. In the early morning hours, she jogged to keep herself fit. She helped with extra paperwork despite her own load and she went to train until late in the evenings.
"This is an absolute waste of my time," Endeavor growled out as she walked past the trio, his agitation shown in each step he took. Burnin chuckled. Even though he thought it was a waste of time, he was still walking.
"Look what you did!"
"He's going to scold us!"
"Haha! I wonder!" Burnin replied and walked off, the two men left on the floor. They quickly picked themselves off their feet and ran after her. Their curiosity had them wanting to see what was going to happen.
This was ridicules. Why did he have to go sort out problems with a mere training room? He had personnel if there was a problem with one of the facilities. Then why on earth was he about to do this himself.
By the time he arrived at the training room, a pair of sidekicks had finished putting up a sign that said 'out of order'. They greeted him punctually, a trail of sweat falling down the side of their faces as they watched the scene fearfully.
"Whoa! Look at this mess!" Burnin had come out of nowhere, sliding open the door after he reached out to do it himself. She briefly laughed and then became quiet as she stared at the scene, wide eyes and her grin forced.
"What are you…?" Endeavor's own words failed and died down in his mouth as he stepped inside. The room was…scorched. The wood on the floor was covered in black spots and there were clear holes where it was burnt through. The roof and the walls weren't better off.
"Haha! They went all out during training, didn't they?!" Burnin then burst out laughing as she took in the state of the room. They had guts and a lot of it. She knew Mizuki well enough to know that she had planned this. She purposely didn't warn them before they left.
It was clear that it wasn't just damage made from her. After all, they knew she training with Shoto in the evenings. They both made this kind of damage for one specific reason and by the way Endeavor's flames fumed, they accomplished it.
"THAT DAMN BRAT!"
Meanwhile…
"Achoo!" Mizuki let out an abrupt sneeze, a chill running down her spine. It came sudden and se nearly didn't have enough time to hold back slightly. She let out a breath, rubbing her nose while Shoto held out his handkerchief.
"Are you getting sick? Or are you allergic to the flowers?" Shoto asked, Mizuki shaking her head as she denied his gesture. Shoto insisted, the ash blonde female's eyes twitching in irritation and she soon snatched it out of his hand.
"Neither!" She lightly blew her nose and then let out a breath. "It came out of nowhere. Also, I have never been allergic to flowers!" She pointed out towards him and then realized that she soiled another one of his handkerchiefs.
Where was he getting them anyway?
"Enough exposure to a specific stimulus can induce allergic reactions," Shoto stated and Mizuki gave him a dry look. She didn't appreciate his sudden smartass commentary at all. She folded the piece of cloth neatly, careful not to drop the flowers and then pocketed the soft cloth.
She insisted that they stop at a flower shop on their way to his house, not taking 'no' for an answer. He had told her multiple times already that it wasn't necessary but she wasn't going to go against her own morals.
"I was taught that you never go empty handed as a guest and since you didn't give me nearly enough information about your sister, I had to stick to my gut," Mizuki told the male, crimson eyes looking at the blue flowers in her hands.
"Bluebell is very unusual."
"Hah?! I'll have you know that a Bluebell symbolizes gratitude and it's beauty really stands out in a room," Mizuki informed the male, pointing between him and the flowers she held in the palm of her hand.
"You're quite informed. Do you like flowers?" Shoto asked, Mizuki briefly turning white. What type of question was that? Mizuki shook her head, ruffing the back of her head as she pushed down the urge to give him a bonk on his head,
"We're going to work on your social skills… Anyway, I know a lot about flowers since I delved into research for my designing at one stage. I was looking for a new and fresh angle to approach," Mizuki replied.
"I see. Did you find it?" Mizuki blinked. "Did you find the new and fresh angle?" He asked and Mizuki chuckled with a nod. She wasn't going to tell him that it was the year she modelled for her father. Some secrets were staying with her for life.
"I did, but enough about me. What about you? Is there something you're interested in?" Mizuki asked, despite knowing what the answer was going to be. She watched as he glanced forward once again, his silver suitcase still in his one hand.
"Soba, prepared cold in a basket."
Mizuki nearly fell over at the answer. She had prepared for a bland answer but underestimated the scale of the male's understanding. She saw the male's perplexed expression and resisted to face palm.
"That's not what I… You know what? It doesn't matter." Mizuki snickered and returned her gaze to the front. "Soba, huh? My mother has a killer spicy soba and chicken recipe! It works great to serve hot or cold. Though you don't look like the spicy type I'll be sure to save some for you someday."
Shoto gave her a small smile and a nod. "I'd like that," he said and MIzuki gave him a bright grin. She had a feeling that if she ever invited the male over for dinner, Katsuki would have a fit but to her it didn't matter at all.
Mizuki felt a vibration and took out her phone from her pocket. She unlocked her screen and scanned her messages. Her grin was quick to fall into a straight line, eyes gleaming with a peculiar emotion.
"Is something wrong?"
"Huh? Oh, no," MIzuki replied in deep thought, briefly glancing at the male next to her before returning her gaze towards her phone. She frowned, brows knitting together slightly as she continued to scroll down.
"I receive notifications from a friend of mine about the latest missing person profiles. She's been keeping me updated about everything that's happening around their High School." Shoto frowned slightly and took a glance at her screen.
"Tokyo High?"
"Yeah, I have two amazing friends there! They're crazy!" She laughed, Shoto giving her a blank look before her face fell. "There's been a higher frequency in missing persons around that area. Luckily, she's been keeping me up with the news and keeps me posted that they're safe."
"That sounds dangerous. They should make sure that they stay safe. What about the hero agencies or the police? Have they found any clues yet?" Shoto asked and Mizuki shook her head, letting out a heavy sigh.
"My friend's uncle is an investigator at the Tokyo Police Department. They haven't been able to find any clues on the missing cases. The hero agencies doubled patrol alongside them and the school's security has been heightened. They can't do anything more than that, apparently," Mizuki muttered the last bit.
"You don't think they're working effectively?"
"It's not like that…" Mizuki trailed off, crimson eyes glaring at the sidewalk as they advanced. "I'm worried about them. It was easy to protect them when they were near me, but I can't do it anymore. It's frustrating." She cursed, her shoulders tensing.
She felt a soothing hand rest on her shoulder, crimson eyes meeting a pair of duo coloured eyes. Shoto gave her a reassuring expression. "Don't worry. I'm sure that they're being extra careful and that the authorities are doing everything they can to find these people," he said.
Mizuki felt the tension in her shoulders disperse and smiled. "Yeah, I hope so. I guess I should stay more positive. They won't be heroes and police officers just because, right?" He nodded and she temporarily closed her eyes.
"Thanks, Ice Bastard."
He was right. She had to keep faith that they would be alright. Akira and Rinako would be just fine. After all, they were the craziest bunch she knew. Speaking of which…she hadn't told them that she was invited to dinner by the said male.
Akira would kill her whether she told her or not since she was obsessed with him. She might even hack her phone and come invade his house personally. Mizuki paled at the thought. Depending on how bad the fangirl became in Akira, it could turn out bad.
The dark-haired female was lazy and didn't find anything entertaining besides hunting down boys and cracking security systems. If she combined both it meant disaster. Good thing she stopped her from hacking U.A.
"We're here," Shoto's voice had Mizuki snap out of her thoughts. She glanced up, standing in front of the gate, crimson eyes widening in disbelief. The entire house including the gate and walls were part of the traditional Japanese culture. The house had outside views from walkways and even had a garden in the middle.
I-It's huge! N-Not to mention it's so traditional! Oh no…should I have worn a kimono?! Mizuki thought, her facial expression filled with horror. Her worst nightmare came true. She wasn't dressed correctly for the occasion!
"Are you coming?" Shoto asked, already halfway towards the front door. He stood still in his track, looking back at the ash blonde female as all the colour drained from her face. Mizuki blinked and then pointed accusingly at him.
"Y-You-! Why didn't you tell me about…this…beforehand! I would've made a plan to dress accordingly! There's no way I can enter your house dressed like…this!" Mizuki gestured towards herself and Shoto gave her an impassive look.
"There's nothing to worry about. We all wear normal clothing," Shoto said and Mizuki gaped. Why? This was the type of house where samurai lived and thrived. She imagined the servants wearing kimono's and calling him 'young master'.
This doesn't feel right. I'm completely out of place here! Why did I agree to do this again? Mizuki thought and swallowed thickly as she glanced at the line that separated her and the pathway leading to the Todoroki residence.
Three seconds of intense bravery, Mizuki! She took a deep breath after mentally motivating herself and took a step. She held her breath, expecting something to happen when she touched the ground on the other side… Nothing happened.
Mizuki then walked with one foot in front of the next, looking around with wide eyes filled with wonder. Crimson eyes sparkled when she saw the sunset paint the sky with light colours, the garden view breath-taking.
Shoto watched her, his eyes widening at the unexpected facial expression. He had never seen her filled with wonder and amazement before. It knocked his wind out as he stared, the view beautiful.
Mizuki let out a laugh, the sound soft and gentle. She turned her crimson gaze towards him, warmth emitted in waves. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Mizuki asked, Shoto finding his mouth dry. He swallowed with difficulty and nodded.
"Yeah…"
Mizuki blinked in dumbstruck at the answer. He sounded so unsure. She raised an eyebrow, wondering for a moment if they were both referring towards the sunset. He was in a complete haze, not seeming to be in reality with her.
"Hey, Ice Bastard. Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost," Mizuki asked, managing to snap him out of his thoughts. Shoto nodded, turning his back towards her and walked towards the front door.
"Let's go."
