Hospital Playlist doesn't belong to me
What the heart wants
It was a weekend, and one when he didn't have to work. It wasn't that rare of an occurrence but somehow today Yang Seok Hyeong was somehow glad to have time to catch up on some housework and think, really to pass the time until it was time for their band practice.
His phone pinged and he stopped to read the message. An unimportant message about an upcoming conference; a conference still over a month away. He wondered why the reminder had been sent today.
He'd barely put the phone down when he received another message. His heart slowed briefly and then hammered on, and forced himself to read the message again slowly.
Chu Minha has fainted.
He quickly called Ik Jun and told him that he couldn't make it for band practice.
As he drove to Yulje, Seok Hyeong told himself many times over to breathe and also to remind himself that Minha was in very good hands, and that she would be fine.
He didn't talk to any of the medical staff at the reception of the ER except to find out the room in which she was in and he made his way there quickly.
Minha was in the bed sleeping.
He had talked to the doctor who had treated her and he knew that she was fine and was just resting but he couldn't leave until she had woken up and he talked to her. It was nothing he wouldn't do for any of his residents, he convinced himself. In fact he would do the same for all his colleagues. Liar a small voice inside his head told him, but he pretended not to hear it. He was just concerned about a fellow doctor, and that was the story he was sticking to.
After what seemed like hours, although it was barely fifteen minutes, Minha opened her eyes and looked at him. Her confusion and disbelief at seeing him at her side made him want to laugh out loud. He done a much better job of hiding his … feelings towards his bubbly resident than he'd thought.
"I can't believe you came," Minha told him, after she'd finally stopped crying. He had been alarmed when she'd burst into tears but that had later turned into amusement. She really was adorable.
"I know." He knew that he should probably leave, especially since he could see that she was fine but somehow he couldn't make himself walk out of the ward.
Twenty minutes later Seok Hyeong got into his car and drove back home. He couldn't for the life of him remember what they been talking about but all he knew that he enjoyed being with her.
"I hope the surgery went well," Ik Jun said. His friend had called as soon as Seok Hyeong had entered his home.
"It did," Seok Hyeong replied. "How was band practice?"
"We got a new keyboard player," Ik Jun laughed. "You may have lost your spot."
"I doubt it," Seok Hyeong replied. "I happen to know that I'm irreplaceable."
"Everybody thinks that until they are replaced," Ik Jun said. "I hope Minha is okay? It wasn't very serious, was it?"
"Good," Ik Jun said. "Good night."
As he prepared for bed, Seok Hyeong briefly thought of calling Yulje and checking in on Minha but talked himself out of it. He would go by early in the morning and see her.
