Silver light slithered over the clear night sky, making its way onto Dunan Castle. Sierra drank it in, feeling its coolness sooth her ancient bones. The moon was at its fullest which made her feel her most powerful, even more so now that the Blue Moon Rune was now back in her possession.
Since joining the Dunan Unification Army this was the best she had felt. What has it been? Two hundred years? No. Four hundred maybe? She mused, now remembering how good it felt bearing the rune which allowed her kind to live in the world.
Sierra remembered the villagers that the nefarious Neclord had destroyed when he stole the rune from her. He was charming back then.
"Relinquish the rune, Sierra." Neclord spoke softly. "Relinquish it and leave the village with me. Forget Rean, let him have it." He had said to her. Admittedly she had foolishly fell for him. He had turned not too long before and still had a human quality to him that she had always found attractive. Rean had certainly fulfilled her for a while, but he was more vampire than human. Klaus had felt the brunt of that human attraction a couple of months previous in Tinto.
"Don't tempt me, Lord Nechtan of—" She teased, before he cut her off.
"I am no longer 'of' that place, Sierra." He pulled her close. "I am yours."
Shuddering, she pushed the memory from her mind. She should have known better then, but she was young. Vampires that had turned from humans still kept parts of their human traits and unfortunately like most humans Neclord lusted after power.
"Need company?" A voice from behind startled her. She turned and saw one of castle's soldiers.
Not him again. "No thank you," She paused, feigning that she had forgotten his name. She sensed his annoyance but he hid it well.
"Ace. It's Ace." Ace? More like a Joker. He produced the bottle of wine from behind his back. "It's from Kanakan." He said confidently, his hazel eyes lustily burrowing into her own violet eyes.
"I hate Kanakan. It's, ah, too warm."
"Your loss, sweetie." He popped the cord and took a swig before turning on his heels. "A fine vintage too." Charming. She just about overheard him mutter: "Now, where does that Rina sleep?"
Smirking, she turned back towards the landscape in front of her. You could see most of South Window on a clear day from the top floor of the castle, well so she was told. Her eyes allowed her to see most of it at night. At that moment she decided she would remain with humans at the conclusion of the war. Some of them were interesting and she was slowly beginning to know them better.
Stop it. The rune continued trying to show her memories of Neclord. Almost taunting her for even considering befriending humans. It had been in his clutches for so long it would take her a while to bend it to her will like the old days. Maybe I will even learn to love another human again. They can't all be as bad as that fool.
Sierra looked up to the celestial cousin of the Blue Moon Rune and she saw the face of that rogue Nash. She bared her teeth and laughed.
