Chapter 36
Liv was sitting in a cute little café, waiting for Jess. She asked her to meet for breakfast, because now that she and El were official, she needed to tell her about the relationship, well most importantly who she was in a relationship with.
She was a bit nervous about what Jess's reaction would be but she also couldn't wait to finally talk to her about him and everything that was going on between them.
"Good morning, sexy lady." Jess said.
"Good morning." Liv said, smiling.
"This place is really nice, why wasn't I here before?"
"Yeah, it's really nice and the breakfast is delicious."
After they had ordered Jess looked at Olivia for a while.
"What?"
"I don't know. Something's different. You look like..I don't know." Liv looked at her confused.
"Happy, you look happy. Yeah, that's it. What happened? Last time we saw each other you had a little breakdown."
"Well, I am happy. Really happy. You know the guy I am with, well we are finally official. So no secretivity or hiding anymore and we will move in together." she said, smiling brightly.
"Wow, that's great hun. I am really happy for you. But now I want to know it all.
Who is he, how did you meet and how is the sex?"
Liv shook her head laughing.
"You're unbelievable. I am kinda nervous to tell you."
"What? Why? Do I know him?"
Liv nodded slowly.
"Oh my god! Don't tell me you are with Stabler!"
Liv looked at her with big eyes, not able to say anything. She didn't know what Jess thought about it. Did she like them being together or not?
"Oh my god. I really thought, you two would never figure it out."
"Figure what out?"
"That you are meant to be together, that you are the perfect match!" Liv started to smile.
"So you like us being a thing now?"
"Like it?! I love it! I bet the sex is amazing. He is so tall and muscular and you are smoking hot and you really know how to move your body."
Live shook her head, feeling slightly uncomfortable but she was also amused.
"Jess, this is really weird. Don't talk about us like that. We aren't porn stars."
"You could be. I mean you would make tons of money."
"Jess, stop it!" Liv said laughing.
"Just sayin'. So tell me about it.
When did it happen and how did it happen?"
She saw Liv's look and added, "I meant the change in your relationship, not the sex. Olivia Benson, you are one dirty minded woman." she said jokingly.
Liv started to laugh.
"Ya, I am the one with the dirty mind here, alright." Jess grinned.
"Well, it all started with the holiday…"
After she was finished, Jess looked at her with big eyes.
"I am really happy for you and Elliot and that the kids love you and stuff but how on earth can you handle his bitch of an ex wife? She is fucking crazy!"
"It isn't easy for her, her ex is with the woman she was afraid to lose him to for years. I guess she was always jealous of the time we spent together, because when he was at work, he was with me. And I guess that the kids and I get along so well, doesn't really help either. Sarah started to come to me with her problems. I love her and enjoy spending time with her but if she was my daughter and she wouldn't come to me with her problems but to my ex husband's new girlfriend, I would go crazy too."
"Girl, you are way too nice. She treats you like shit. That's not okay and the situation she is in, isn't an excuse. Not at all!"
"I know. Believe me, I am not that nice and calm when I am in front of her but I can't start a fight with her in front of the kids. There is enough fighting because of me, I just think, me talking back at her won't make it better.
But if she won't calm down soon, I need to say something. I just don't know what I could do or say to make her hate me less."
"If I were you, I would have punched her in the face months ago. She is way out of line and really disrespectful. How can anyone hate you?" Liv smiled at her.
"I am the new girlfriend and if that isn't enough, I am also the one person she never wanted in hers or her family's life. I am her worst nightmare."
"Wow. This woman is seriously crazy.
Come on. She divorced him, she had a new boyfriend first and she attacked you even before you two were an item.
I mean what kind of person invites herself to a holiday, with her ex husband and his best friend, who she hates? That's really fucked up!"
"..."
"Let it out. It's me. I won't tell anyone how much you hate her and how much you want to punch her every time you see her."
Liv started to laugh.
"I don't hate her. I don't even really know her. But yes, I felt the urge to punch her more often than I would like to admit but what good would it do?
Being nice and considerate to her is the better way. She can't control herself around me and it makes her look bad, not me.
But I have to admit it is really exhausting.
I hate that she can't just ignore me. She starts a fight every single time she sees me. But I told Elliot to stop defending me, because it only makes her go even more mad and although he isn't really good at not fighting back, he accepted it and most of the time I can stop him.
But then there is Sarah, this girl is amazing. You really have to meet her. She always stands up for me and acts like I am this amazing person, who is nothing but perfect.
It's weird and sometimes uncomfortable but also really sweet and flattering."
"I like her already." Jess said smiling.
Liv's phone started to ring.
"It's El." she said before picking up.
Jess watched her talking to him and noticed the huge, happy smile on Liv's face which made her smile too. She was so happy for her. If someone deserved this then it was Liv. She has always been taking care of others, she deserves to be happy and loved.
"We caught a case. He will be here in about 10 minutes to pick me up." Liv said apologetically.
"I thought you weren't on standby this weekend."
"I am not but it is some kind of special case. I don't know, Elliot didn't know much either. Only that the victim is the daughter of someone important. I am sorry. I really wanted to hear about your date with Eric."
"Don't worry. I know how it is, work comes first. We are all the same. And the date with Eric was good. He really is a nice guy but I don't know yet. I guess I need him to be less nice and more naughty."
Liv started to laugh. "Of course you do."
After they paid they left the cafe and Liv saw that Elliot was already waiting in the car for her.
"I am really happy for the two of you. I have never seen you this happy with someone before. You should have seen your face while you were talking to him. You couldn't wipe the smile off of it."
"Thank you. He really makes me happy." Liv said while hugging her.
Liv walked towards El's car but turned around again and said, "And the sex, oh my god, it's incredible."
Jess started to laugh and Liv got into the car with a huge grin on her face.
Their work day was crazy. The victim was the daughter of a senator. She had problems with drugs in the past, but was clean for over a year now.
She was raped and brutally murdered and there was nothing at the crime scene or on the victim that could help them identify the murderer.
They worked like crazy but at the end of the day, they weren't anywhere close on catching this bastard.
Around 1am the captain told them to go home to get some sleep before starting early again tomorrow.
Liv and Elliot fell in his bed and when the alarm woke them after a few hours they felt like they had just lay down.
The next few days were crazy. Of course Elliot had to cancel his day with the kids, which Kathy used to start a fight again. They didn't even bother to get home to sleep anymore, they just lay down in the cribs for a few hours every now and then.
On thursday, they were finally able to arrest the son of a bitch who raped and murdered the senators' daughter.
Elliot and Olivia made him confess after a few hours of interrogation and he told them why he did it. The senator's rival assigned him to kidnap her and when he didn't answer his calls anymore and didn't pay him, he decided that it was too risky to keep her alive. So he had "fun" with her and killed her afterwards.
They all were pretty devastated that this young woman had to die because of one politician who thought winning was more important than the well being of his rivals' daughter.
They decided to go for drinks, because they all knew they were way too agitated to sleep.
"I need to talk to the senator but you guys can go ahead, I'll just come by later." Liv said.
"You want me to talk to him with you?" Elliot asked her caringly.
"No, it's fine. I guess it will be easier for him if it's just me. You can go." she said with a small smile.
"You sure? I can wait here for you?"
"Go. I will be fine."
He looked at her still unsure if she was saying the truth but decided that maybe she needed the time alone to cope with the case.
"Okay. See you later."
About an hour later Liv entered the bar. She looked for her colleagues and saw them in one of the booths in the back. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Daniels was all over Elliot. She flirted with him like crazy. And although Liv could see that Elliot didn't feel comfortable at all and tried to signal her that he wasn't interested, she was annoyed.
Oh my god, this little bitch. She totally touched El's bizeps and Liv was sure she told him that he was such a strong and muscular man, or something like that. She wasn't really jealous, well maybe a bit, but what really made her angry was the fact that Daniels was aware of the relationship between Elliot and her.
What kind of woman acts like that?
A fucking slut, Liv thought to herself.
She walked over to the table and at least three men gazed after her. One even hit on her and wanted to invite her to a drink.
She knew she could trust Elliot but she didn't trust Daniels, not at all.
Elliot noticed her first. He looked even more uncomfortable, than before. He expected her to be mad, to make a scene, but she wouldn't give Daniels the satisfaction of that and Elliot didn't really do anything wrong. Sure, he could have moved to the other side of the table to sit next to Ferguson but she was pretty sure that he wasn't the one who sat down next to Daniels in the first place.
"Hey guys." Liv said.
Elliot looked at her guiltily. Ferguson looked pretty uncomfortable too but Daniels just smiled at her, not moving an inch away from Elliot.
Liv sat down next to Ferguson and took a sip from Elliot's glass. Daniels started to grin.
She wouldn't make a scene, why should she? She had trust in Elliot and it wasn't his fault that this little bitch was hitting on him like a prostitute. So calm down, Liv. She thought to herself.
"How was the talk with the senator?" Elliot asked.
"It was hard. He thinks her death is his fault. I felt so sorry for him."
"This poor man." Ferguson said.
"Ya, let's not talk about it anymore. Aren't we here to zone out?" she said grinning.
"You are absolutely right!" Ferguson said with a smile. "Let's get you a drink."
He turned around to look for a waiter but the young guy who worked behind the bar was already on his way to them.
"What can I get you, gorgeous?" he said, winking at Liv.
"Vodka Cranberry, please."
He smiled at her and turned around to go back to the bar.
"I would like to have another one of these yummy cocktails." Daniels said, fluttering her eyelashes.
The waiter turned back around and asked a bit annoyed, "You have to tell me what kind of cocktail you want, lady."
Daniels looked pretty uncomfortable and told him what kind of cocktail she wanted. He walked away and Liv had to suppress a smile.
Why did Daniles act like this? She didn't have to prove anything to anyone.
She was a good looking, young detective. Noone doubted that she could get most of the men she wanted, she didn't have to act like this.
Liv could feel Elliot's stare, she knew he didn't like that she didn't really interact with him and that another young guy hit on her in front of him. But she couldn't show any affection right now. Daniels would totally think that Liv wanted to mark her territory. Liv had to play it cool although she hated games like this. It was childish and unnecessary.
So she touched El's leg gently with hers, to show him that she wasn't upset. She didn't want to leave him hanging, only because she had to play an act for Daniels.
He relaxed a bit under her touch and she smiled.
The waiter came back with their drinks and ignored Daniels again but he flirted with Liv. He invited her to visit him at the bar later and even told her when he was finished with work later. Daniels was fuming. She started to touch Elliot again. She was practically clinging to him.
He tried to move away but he was already sitting at the end of the bench.
Ferguson looked at Liv apologetically, he was obviously embarrassed of his partners behaviour. Liv smiled at him to tell him that he shouldn't worry and that she was alright.
The rest of the evening was okay. Daniels started to calm down after a while and stopped touching El every two seconds and she even had a decent conversation with Olivia.
