Oliver and Shane walked home from their date at Ephlat arm in arm. Oliver looked at Shane and seeing she was deep in thought inquired, "What are you thinking about?"
Shane looked up at him. "I was just thinking about how I almost quit the DLO."
Oliver chuckled. "You did quit, more than twice."
She stopped walking and looked in his eyes "But I didn't because I…"
"Because?" he probed, gazing back at her.
She took a deep breath and continued, "Because I started falling for this postal detective who didn't know how to order coffee at a coffee cart."
"Hmm," said Oliver as he smiled at her, "I seem to recall there was a beautiful woman with a mesmerizing smile, who managed to get in front of me in line and even ordered my coffee for me."
"Well," said Shane, "When she quit her job that gentleman came after her, brought her coffee and even remembered what kind of coffee she liked."
Oliver looked at her fondly. "That gentleman was pretty astonished at his own actions, that after two days he felt like he could not bear to let go of his "temporary employee." He could not admit it to himself but he is pretty sure he was already falling for her as well."
Shane squeezed his hand and looked up at him with a smile. He returned her gaze with an intense look in his eyes that made her heart beat faster.
"Shane," said Oliver softly, "I am thankful every day that you stayed."
"So am I." said Shane as they settled on the porch swing to enjoy the rest of their evening together.
