What A Lovely Cat

After the Corona Pandamic started Alfred had to sit at home and do his work from there. He walked around in his pyjamas all day long, didn't bother to shower and watched one show after another. But most of the time he just slept.

On one sunny morning as he tried to be productive for once and cleaned his apartment he noticed a very cute cat sitting at a window in the opposite apartment building. He came closer to his window and observed the cat from afar and how cute it looked with it's white and brown fur and little ears, while it looked at the birds flying around. It made Alfred smile.

Then an idea popped into his head. He could draw the cat. He hasn't drawn in awhile because of his study's so now is a perfect chance to do it. He took a paper and a pen. Positioned himself infront of the window and startet the sketch. After a while the cat jumped off his place and left Alfred alone.

"Aww he's already gone?" Alfred pouted.

'Well, that's ok, I'm almost finished.' He now thought with a smile as he looked at his art.

"Hey, I have a great idea! I'm gonna give this to the owner ot the cat. I just need something to put it in."

He started looking for an envelope and only found pink ones he had bought and used for his nieces birthday because her parents or more specifically his brother had bought the false ones so Alfred had to fetch some.

He put his drawn picture into the envelope and started his journey. He walked across the street to the other building while praising himself for the great idea. It wasn't hard to find the right mailbox since he lived on the 4th floor and the cat he saw was definitely on the 3rd. He put the letter in and just smiled to himself. 'I wonder how the owner is going to react when they see this masterpiece I created.'

When Arthur found a pink envelope in his mailbox without an adress he didn't know what to think of that. He thought it could be a love letter or his landlord wants nicely to say to get out but he surely didn't expect a drawn picture of a cat and not just any cat, no, it was his cat.

Out of curiosity he walked to his window and looked at the building infront of him to see if he could take a glimpse at the one who had drawn the picture but he could not find anything. There were just to many windows. His cat jumped on the windowsill next to him and meowed at him.

"Look." Arthur showed him the drawing. "Someone drew you. You like it?" His cat just meowed back at him like he could understand what he said. Arthur just laughed sweet at this and petted the head of his furry friend. "Yeah, I like it too, its really cute."

In the following two weeks Arthur received five more of these cat drawings one cuter than the other. They all came at different times and without a pattern so Arthur couldn't figure out who sent them.

Arthur stood at the window with his tea in one hand and with the other he was petting his cat while it purred happily. The pictures were laying beside him on the windowsill as he looked at them.

"I get more and more of them. It seems like you have a fan or you are a muse for someone, who knows." Arthur shrugged his shoulders and sipped his tea. He didn't even notice that someone was watching him.

Alfred stood by his window finally seeing the owner of the cat. "I thought the cat belonged to an old lady or something but damn, he's cute just like his cat." A small smirk spread across his face. "I'm gonna draw him with his cat that would be sweet. Yesss I'm such a genius but I'll make a picture first in case he goes away."

Arthur was shocked when he saw the drawing with himself the next morning. He didn't thought that someone would draw him, he didnt even notice it. "Well this is creepy. How could I not notice?" Arthur paced in his apartment up and down. "When did it even... Wait, I'm holding my mug here." The realization hit him. "That was yesterday!"

Arthur started scretching his head. "Hm." He looked at his cat which was lying on the couch.

"I mean it does look nice I guess...Right?" His cat just starred back at him.

"Meow."

"Great, that's exactly what I wanted to hear."

Alfred put his jacket on ready to go to the grocery store. He took his keys and wallet, slammed the door behind him and went downstairs. Halfway through he stopped in his tracks. "Argh, I forgot my mask!" he growled and took the stairs back up again.

At the store he stood in an aisle starring down the different snacks. Deep in thoughts which he should take and at the end he choose almost everything.

He put them in his cart and as he turned around he bumped into someone. "Oh sorry."

"Its okay," the person replied and walked past him and out of the aisle.

Alfred looked at the person and couldn't shake a certain thought out of his head. 'He looks rather familiar. Especially his eyebrows. Hm...'

Alfreds eyes widened 'That's the cat owner. Oh my god. I should talk to him!'

Alfred started jogging with his cart in the direction the cat owner walked. As he spotted him he walked straight at him but the closer he came the more nervous he got. So instead of going to him he walked past him.

'Gosh I'm stupid what should I even say? "Hey I'm the guy who paints your cat." No this is kinda creepy. I'm creepy. He definitely thinks I'm creepy for doing this. Ughh I dont know.' Alfred sighed. 'No, It's okay he will understand, I mean it's not that creepy I'm just overreacting, right? Right? Maybe I should say hello first of all.'

He straightend himself and got a good grip on his cart. 'Ok lets go.' He returned to the aisle were Arthur should have been but he wasn't there. Alfred started to look out for him but when he found him Arthur was already at the checkout. Alfred sighed again. "Maybe next time."

Four days later and Arthur started to feel a little upset because he hasn't received any drawings lately and these pictures were the highlight of his day in this boring time. He couldn't go to work because it was closed in the meantime and he also didn't liked to sit at home all day. That's why he took little strolls at park in the evening to get some fresh air.

When he reached the bottom of the staircase he saw a young man sliding a pink envelope into his mailbox.

'A pink envelope? This can mean only one thing.'

"Hey, you!" Arthur approached the startled man who turned around with wide eyes.

"Hey," he said with a nervous grin.

"You are the one who draws my cat, aren't you?" Arthur put his hand on his hip.

"Uh, yeah." Alfred nodded and rubbed the back of his head with one hand.

"You're really talented. I like them and the cat likes them too."

A big smile spread across Alfred's face.

"Oh thank you so much, you know I got bored and had nothing to do and then I saw your cat and it was super cute I just had to draw it. And it makes me so happy to hear that you liked them."

Arthur let out a small laugh. "I'm Arthur by the way." Arthur stretched his hand out for a hand shake.

"Ah, nice to meet you, I'm Alfred." Alfred took his hand and shook it.

"Nice to meet you too, Alfred." They locked eyes with each other until they parted their hands.

"Do you have any plans tonight?" asked Arthur.

"Nope." Alfred shook his head while bouncing on his feet.

"Do you want to join me in my walk perhaps?"

Alfreds smile grew bigger. "I'd love to!"

They started to walk out of the building when Alfred asked, "What's your cat's name actually?"

"His name's biscuit."

Little did Arthur know that he and his cat would see Alfred much more often now.
