"MAROON AND THE EARTH-NI PROTECTORS!"

BOOK THREE: RESURGENCE

CHAPTER NINE: COBALT EMPIRE

According to the brilliant physicist Albert Einstein, time is a relative concept. The flow of chronology varies from timezone to timezone, planet to planet, dimension to dimension. However, there's a certain world where hours go by in the blink of an eye, and entire eras pass in a day; This bizarre world is known by many names to many cultures, but its designated title is "Dimension X-103." In this harsh and hellish domain, a tyrannical regime was born.

Ten years passed since the Earth-Ni Attackers escaped into Hekapoo's realm with a stolen Cleave Ray. Over the decade, Wanda and her lieutenants amassed Cobalt Watch agents from all over the globe, and brought them to the Ukushra Badlands to build their mighty forces. Wanda used her brilliant brain and mastery of Magitech to construct an army unlike any other.

First off were the new foot soldiers of the Watch; The Cobots. These abominable automatons were upgraded WattBots with plasticine blue plating, black underparts, and heads adorned with four azure, luminescent eyes. Like their government-sanctioned counterparts, the robots had jet thrusters in their backs, but they used wrist-mounted laser guns, as opposed to energy rifles. Lastly, they were enchanted with a Magitech algorithm that gave them one purpose; Terminate all who oppose the Empire.

As for Dragonfly's human troopers, the Magitech menace took a page out of Queen Solaria's book, and built thirty-foot "Slayer" mechs for her goons to pilot. In addition to those monstrous Magitech mechs, she commissioned various high-tech hover-tanks and armed VTOL aircrafts to round out the Watch's engines of war.

Lastly, there was the piece de resistance of Wanda's fleet; Not one, but SIX flying dreadnoughts armed with countless cannons. To destroy Earth-Ni once and for all, she had taken Oberon's original plan, and perfected it. All of these formidable weapons and warships were situated at her new base of operations; The imposing Fortress Cobalis.

At long last, the day of reckoning had finally come. Wanda had gathered all her forces into her fleet, and commanded the Magitech warships to take flight. As the war fleet cruised through the Ukushran skies, Wanda stood proud on the deck of the Malcolm, the mightiest of her six dreadnoughts. Her likeness was cast onto television screens on each of the ships, so her underlings could hear the speech she waited a decade to give.

"Ten years ago, the world was changed forever by the disastrous Cleaving, which brought an age of darkness and chaos upon the world. But at long last, that hellish time will come to an end. We will wipe out the aliens invading our Earth, and bring it to safety under our watchful rule. Today, we will exact righteous conquest upon the deviants and their allies, and once the Earth is safe...we'll spread our reach across the Multiverse! The moons will never set upon the Cobalt Empire!"

"LONG LIVE THE COBALT EMPIRE!" The resounding chants echoed through the halls of the dreadnoughts, as it was repeatedly spoken by the Slayers and Attackers. They, too, had waited a long time for this invasion, and they were going to make it count. The six flying warships spread out across the sky, and each one activated their secret weapons; Huge guns mounted to the dreadnoughts' undersides, which were made by reverse-engineering the Cleave Ray. The ships all fired their Cleave Cannons, creating portals leading to the various merged regions around Earth-Ni. Tonight, the world would face its greatest threat yet...

The worst had come to Echo Creek; One of the Empire's dreadnoughts had appeared over the cleaved city, harkening the coming invasion. This ship, aptly named the "Dauntless II," was originally made for Oberon Capers; But once Wanda ousted him over clashing ideologies, she gave it to Admiral Wade Burroughs, the Cleave Foundation spy who made her army possible. As innocent people fled in terror from the Empire's deadly forces, Burroughs watched from the command bridge, and grinned. To him, this abominable attack was the highest form of justice.

However, there was a ray of hope for the innocent civilians endangered by the Cobalt invaders; The Earth-Ni Protectors, along with Moon and River Butterfly, quickly headed out towards the battlefront. Star and Austin were flying on Cloudy, Marco, Janna and Kelly rode on Nachos, River soared through the sky on his eagle, and Moon hovered by his side in her Butterfly form. Alas, nothing could prepare them for the gut-wrenching sight that greeted them on arrival; All over town, the Cobalt Empire's insurmountable forces were reigning terror. The whole team was at a loss of words, as the attack felt too large for even them to stop; Nonetheless, it was their duty to protect Earth-Ni, or die trying,

"There's too many of them..." Austin droned, unsure of how to tackle the enormous invasion. As a fellow strategist, former queen Moon gave the best counsel she could.

"To stop them, we need to split up. Austin, take Janna and Kelly with you. Star, go with Marco and Thomas. River, stay with me."

"You heard the queen, let's go!" Tom exclaimed.

"For Earth-Ni!" Star shouted, then morphed into her golden Butterfly form and took flight. The other heroes all headed on their separate ways, dividing up to stop Echo Creek from being conquered...

While the invasion raged through the streets, many mewmans and monsters hunkered down together in a most unexpected safehouse; The re-constructed Castle Avarius. As the threatened civilians took shelter in the throne room, Dennis, Ludo, and several of his henchmen-turned-friends were barricading the entrance with whatever furniture they could find.

"Whew! That ought to hold them." Ludo huffed, and wiped the sweat from his brow. Suddenly, Dennis's attention was caught by a high-pitched metallic whirr; Something was coming fast.

"Get down!" Dennis tackled his older yet smaller brother to the ground, and the other monsters followed their lead. Not even a second later, the castle door was blasted open by a powerful pulse of energy. The devastating destruction came from a Cobalt hover-tank, which was accompanied by a squadron of twelve Cobots. As the malevolent automatons marched towards the castle, the tank's barrel glowed once more, charging up for a devastating blast.

Just before the assault vehicle could open fire on the opposing stronghold, it was blown up by a precise and sudden Rainbow Rocket Blast. The Cobots stopped in their tracks, and saw a trio of heroes standing tall atop the castle's roof; Lady Butterfly, Martial Boy and the Violet Devil had come to the rescue!

"Our turn." The three crime-fighters leapt to the ground, to deal with the mechanical invaders. Marco pulled out his sword, and slashed through some Cobots' metal bodies like they were made of bamboo, while Tom used his telekinesis to fling chunks of debris at his foes. Star fired on all cylinders with her spells; First, she hit one Cobot with a Narwhal Blast, then ripped another limb from limb with her Raspberry Ribbon Lassoes. Finally, she took down the three remaining robots in a most explosive fashion; Good ol' Supersonic Leech Bombs.

"You guys okay in there?" Marco asked the castle's denizens.

"It's safe now." Tom added.

"Look again." Ludo anxiously remarked. The ground shook as a mighty metal clang was heard; Looming towards the castle was a thirty-foot-tall metal colossus, with ominous glowing accents.

"Giant robot suit. How original." Star scoffed, clearly unimpressed by the sinister Slayer. Tom and Marco both entered fighting stances, but Star extended her arm to call them off. "Stay put, boys. I got this." A mile-wide grin befell the magical merman's face, and she cracked her knuckles as she walked up to the slayer. The armored giant aimed its wrist-mounted cannon at Star, but she closed her eyes, and began to cast a classic spell.

"SPIDER WITH A TOP HAT BLAST!" With that incantation, a cartoonish-looking, top hat-wearing arachnid appeared out of thin air. The magic spider turned his hat into a high-powered gattling gun, and opened fire on the malicious mech. His hat-shaped bullets chipped off the Slayer's armor plating, and blew off both its arms. Lastly, he shot a swath of little hats at the colossus's legs, causing it to fall flat on its face, and go up in smoke. Once the Slayer was downed, Spider With A Top Hat looked towards his maker, tipped his top hat, winked, and disappeared, causing her to smile.

"I missed that little guy."

In the streets of the New Monstertown district, an overwhelming Imperial force was wreaking havoc. Dozens of Cobots were out to ruthlessly raid the monsters' homes and businesses, while an armed VTOL aircraft fired at the ground below. Both police officers and courageous monsters took up arms against the attacking forces, but they were being hopelessly overwhelmed. A bear-like monster picked up a rock and hurled it at a Cobot, but the metal marauder was hardly effected. It raised its wrist-mounted blaster, and shot the monster's shoulder, causing him to roar in pain.

"AGH! It burns!"

"There's too many of them! We need backup!" One of the cops spoke into her radio.

"We need a miracle." Another monster remarked, as the group fell back further into the district. The fight seemed to be hopeless, but their luck soon changed when the attacking aircraft was shot down by a magical blast of lightning. The VTOL burst into flames, and everyone looked to the sky to see their savior; Moon the Undaunted, in her mighty Butterfly form.

Some of the monsters were intimidated by Moon's newly-regained magic; After all, they knew the tales of how the queen fought their ancestors in the monster army, during her tumultuous youth. Luckily, their fears were relieved when she landed on the ground, and cast a barrier shield to block the Cobots' blasts.

"Get to safety! I'll hold them off." The former queen commanded. While the police and monsters fled, Moon quickly blasted several of the automatons with magical energy. Then, she conjured six magical energy swords, and lunged towards the Cobots to hack them to pieces. While the warrior queen ripped the most of the squadron to shreds, one of them strayed away from the group, and jetted off towards a group of monster civilians. It aimed its blaster towards the innocents, but was tackled out of the air in the nick of time, but who but the famous Wild King!

"TALLY HO!"

River used his club to crush the Cobot's metal chassis, effortlessly ripped off its head, and let out a mighty war cry as he brandished it in the air. The civilians clapped and cheered, as a larger-than-life hero had come to their rescue.

Meanwhile, trouble was brewing in Cornstalk Flats, the town's first and only mewman/monster housing district. Due to it being entirely inhabited by non-humans, it was a top target for the ruthless Empire. The only thing standing between the innocent Mewnians and total annihilation were three powerful protectors; Maroon, Snatcher, and the Wooly Warrior.

The heroes were working up a sweat fighting Cobot hordes, to safeguard the civilians holed up in their homes. Kelly was having a hell of a time tearing robots apart with her sword; Since they were lifeless mechanical beings, she didn't have to worry about holding back. The fleecy fighter sliced through her metal foes with extreme prejudice, spilling sparks and oil all around.

Janna was using every spell she knew to fight off her share of the baddies, except for curses; They only worked on organic beings. A whole platoon of Cobots charged towards the mage, so she chose to go for broke, and try a spell she hadn't yet perfected.

"BLACK VELVET INFERNO!" The fledgeling sorceress thrust her sticks towards the robotic horde, and a beam made of dark-colored butterflies formed into a dome above the bots. The cover of darkness cracked, and burst into a harsh, blinding light; When the spell ended, the Cobots were reduced to naught but ash.

"Sweet."

Although the girls were doing well fighting off the Imperial forces, Austin was a different story. The caped vigilante parkoured across the rooftops of houses, while fighting a mammoth mech. He launched his wrist-mounted grappling hook, and it plunged into the metal giant's neck; He then swung on the cord, and flipped up onto its shoulder.

Maroon fired a flurry of wrist-blasts, but they did nothing; Next, he tried his trusty wrist-blades, but they left only scratches on the Slayer's thick armor plating. Before he could try anything else, the mechanical warrior swatted him off its shoulder, and the hero tumbled to the ground. The Slayer raised its arms to smash him, but Janna rushed in, and shot the giant with an an energy beam, staggering it.

"It's armor's too thick, Ausitn! You can't break it!" Kelly warned.

"We need something bigger! We need-" Suddenly, a ferocious roar shook the streets; Seconds later, the Slayer was knocked to the ground by a powerful punch from the size-shifting king of monsters himself, Globgor.

"Pick on someone your own size!" The mighty monster shouted, as the neighborhood erupted in applause. Globgor helped build this district with his bare hands, and he wasn't about to let a tyrannical regime burn it all down. Before he could revel in the cheers of his peers, two more Slayers charged down the street, quaking the ground with every step. Globgor quickly stomped towards the mechs, and fought both of them at the same time. He combined the agility and evasiveness of his tiny form with the brute strength of his giant stature, which proved to be a devastating combo. However, as he pounded away at one of the mechs' armor, the one he downed before got up, and slammed both arms down on his back, causing the monster to bellow in pain, and collapse.

As the three Slayers continued to beat down on Globgor, the three Protectors hurried to save their size-shifting ally. However, a swarm of Cobots hovered towards them, and engaged the heroes, keeping them busy. While they tussled with the metal horde, the battle-damaged Slayer activated an energized blade, which jutted from the wrist of his mech.

"Say goodnight, you four-eyed freak." Unbeknownst to him, a horrified spectator had watched the clash of giants unfold. Eclipsa was downright mortified to see those hulking brutes beat down her valiant monster love; They had gone through so much turmoil together, but now, their cherished relationship could come to a tragic end. The former Queen of Darkness felt helpless to stop the Slayers...and that made her feel furious. A mix of rage, grief, and love overwhelmed the teal-haired mewman, and she felt something deep inside her about to break free.

The colossus was about to plunge its blade into Globgor's heart, when it was struck in the back by a dark beam of energy. It caused the trooper's armor to wither away, and he fell to the ground without a mech. The other two Slayers turned around to see an enraged Eclipsa, whose hands and spade-shaped cheekmarks were glowing bright with magical energy.

"Get her!" The pair of Slayers aimed their wrist-mounted guns towards the queen, but Globgor rose back up and slammed their heads together, destroying the metal fiends. He then hurried towards his beloved wife, then picked her up to examine her newly-regained cheek marks.

"Boo, your magic! It came back!"

"It seems you're right." Eclipsa remarked unsurely; Even she was surprised to wield magic again, since she normally was limited to using her wand. However, dipping down with this new breed of magic made her more powerful than ever. Globgor caringly caressed his lover's newly-marked cheeks, only stopping when a voice called out to him.

"Hey, Globzilla!" Standing amidst a strewn-out pile of robot parts was Maroon, who was flanked on both sides by his loyal teammates. "I got something for you!" The masked hero tossed a silver ring to the towering monster, who caught it in his massive palm. Globgor shrunk down, and carefully examined the ring; Engraved on it was a stylized letter "G."

"What is this?"

"It's a hero ring. If you wanna save the day, you gotta look the part."

"Wait, you want me to be an Earth-Ni Protector? Even with my terrible reputation?"

"I've had this thing on me since the day you moved out." Austin proudly remarked. "Now suit up, we got a city to save!"

Near the edge of town, the deadly dreadnought Dauntless II loomed like a shadowy specter. By now, the ship's deadly cannons were fully charged, and could rain hellish fire upon the people of Echo Creek. However, said guns were occupied with shooting down a trio of airborne heroes; Star, Moon and Tom were all flying through the starry night skies, trying to take the ship down. The Butterflies struck the warship with their spells, while Tom sent forth an overwhelming inferno of demonic fire. Alas, the infallible frigate was hardly scathed, and the heroes returned to the ground unsuccessful.

"That didn't work?" Marco wondered.

"Its armor's too thick, we can't break it." Tom replied, when Moon suddenly jolted up.

"Marco, LOOK OUT!" A stray Cobot flew towards Marco like a rocket, but right before it could reach him, a huge sword impaled its chest. Kelly shouted loudly, raised the robot over her head, and slammed it to the ground, deactivating it.

"That's how it's done." Kelly remarked, as she brushed her hands together. The Woolett was soon joined by the rest of her group; Austin, Janna, Eclipsa and Globgor. The latter of the heroes was clothed in his new "King Sizes" outfit, which consisted of a navy blue vest with a "G" on it, an off-white undershirt, black shorts, a golden belt with matching bracelets, and a black, four-eyed domino mask.

The ten heroes gathered in a circle, to decide how to down the deadly dreadnought. "We need to sink that ship before it blows us all to bits. Any ideas?" Marco queried.

"I'll gather an army of eagles to destroy that blasted battleship!" River enthusiastically exclaimed. "Of course, they'll likely kill the crewmen and devour their livers...which I can certainly live with."

"I could use the Spell With No Name...but it would use up all my energy. It's only a last resort." Eclipsa added. Austin stroked his chin, and tried to think of some way to stop the Dauntless II in time. He looked around at all his friends and allies, until he saw Star's trusty bow. A bright idea popped into his head; It was a crazy plan, but could it be crazy enough to work?

For his first action as an Earth-Ni Protector, King Sizes was put in a compromising position. He had shrunken himself to the size of a quarter, and held on tight to the head of one of Star's arrows.

"Austin, are you SURE about this?" Eclipsa worriedly wondered.

"Don't worry, this is gonna work. Saw it in a Marvel movie." The masked vigilante retorted. "Now, Star!"

"Hold on tight, lil' guy." Star pulled back the drawstring, and launched her arrow towards the flying warship above. The arrow boosted itself farther than normal thanks to its magical enhancements; Poor little Globgor's hair flowed in the wind, as he struggled to hold on. Once it soared over the deck of the Dauntless, King Sizes leapt off it, and grew as large as he could. The crew of the ship, especially Admiral Burroughs, gasped in shock and horror as a hundred-foot-tall monster came hurtling towards them; Globgor raised his arms up high, and used them to smash right through the middle of the ship, bisecting it in two.

Globgor shrunk down to a much smaller stature, and hurtled into a free-fall. The size-shifter began to panic, and flapped his arms around wildly. It was then he found out a special hidden feature in his suit; Built into his underarms was a stretchy membrane, which served as a built-in wingsuit! The monster superhero glided through the sky like a flying squirrel, and quickly dove towards the ground. Once it was safe, he grew back to his regular size, and hit the ground in a dramatic three-point stance, shattering the asphalt beneath him. Overwhelmed by a rush of adrenaline, Globgor let out a hearty guffaw.

"Ha ha ha! Being a superhero's more fun than I thought!"

"Guys, we got a problem!" Tom called out. "That wreckage is coming straight for us!" Lo and behold, both halves of the Dauntless II were on a collision course with the cleaved city, endangering countless civilians. Star, for one, wasn't going to let them face such a cataclysmic catastrophe.

"C'mon, follow my lead!" Star signaled to Moon, Eclipsa and Janna. The four magic-wielding women hurried towards the oncoming wreckage, with Star and Moon morphing into their Butterfly forms.

"LEVITATO!" Star and Moon hit the first half of the ship with that classic spell, and mustered all their strength to hold it in place. Eclipsa and Janna did the same, but they weren't strong enough to keep holding it. To prevent the deadly debris from hitting the ground, Eclipsa tapped into a higher level of power, one she hadn't unlocked until the old magic's very end. A stunning transformation took place, giving Eclipsa the boost she needed to successfully suspend the wreckage; Her Butterfly form.

"Woah..." Janna droned, surprised by her mentor's spectacular show of power.

"My Darkest Star..." Globgor had never seen his wife's Butterfly form until now, and it was indeed a breathtaking sight. Six arms, two feelers, and delicate violet wings; What's not to like?

The four mages slowly set the Dauntless's wreckage on the ground, in a nearby field lacking any buildings or people. Once it was clear the dreadnought was downed, the civilian onlookers erupted into cheers.

"Looks like the day is saved." Kelly boastfully remarked, when a gray van suddenly barreled towards the heroes, while running over any stray Cobots it could find. The vehicle pulled over near the Protectors and queens, and out came Dr. Tran and a few other Cleave Foundation scientists.

"Now's no time to celebrate." Elisha somberly spoke.

"What happened this time?" Janna wondered.

"You may have stopped that ship, but the battle's FAR from won. Take a look." Another scientist showed the group a monitor, which was split five ways. It depicted footage from the other five Cleave hotspots, in Chile, Kenya, Australia, the South China Sea and Darby Glen. All of these locales had one thing in common; Each one was being attacked by a Cobalt warship!

"Oh no..." Star was downright mortified by the footage she witnessed; Here she thought her team saved the day, but what had gone down in Echo Creek was happening worldwide.

"What can we do to help?" Austin asked. In response, Elisha handed three spare Cleave Rays to him, Janna and Star. The latter of the three refused, as she could create her own portals when in her Butterfly form.

"These devices are set to the other Cleaved regions. It's time for you to save Earth-Ni; All of it." Dr. Tran commanded. The heroes grouped up into three teams; Star, Marco and River joined forces, Eclipsa pitched in to help Janna and Tom, and Globgor teamed up with Kelly and Austin. The only hero left behind was Moon.

"Mom, aren't you coming?"

"The ship may be stopped, but our town is still in danger. Queen or not, it's my duty to protect my people."

"And she won't do it alone." A mysterious caped figure leapt down from a building, and landed next to the former queen. Although her face was concealed by a helmet, the familiar filtered voice and similarity to Maroon's outfit gave away the mystery hero's identity.

"Sabrina? You brought your suit?" Austin inquired.

"It's Echo Creek, something like this was bound to happen. Helps to be prepared." Sabrina retorted. In addition to her, more backup had come; Buff Frog leapt into the fray, armed with a huge spiked war hammer.

"Sorry am late. Had to make sure babies were okay."

"Good luck out there, everyone. Earth-Ni's counting on us." Moon stated.

"Now let's go save the world." Maroon commanded. Star opened a portal with her innate magic powers, as Austin and Janna used their borrowed Cleave Rays. The three teams leapt into their portals, and went their separate ways to save the day...

Down in South America, another flying ship loomed above the mountainous Bandada province of Chile, which had cleaved with Mewni several months ago. This rough and rugged region was sparsely inhabited until the merge, which brought strange new beings to the land. There were clans and tribes of monsters that conflicted with Cobalt Watch, as well as the Pigeon Kingdom, which mostly isolated itself from both monsters and local humans. However, the avian kingdom was now under attack, from the wrath of the dreadnought Crusader.

The airborne warship rained fire upon Pigeon Palace with its energy cannons; The sapient birds all fled in a flock, as parts of their magnificent castle were blown to smithereens. Meanwhile on the ground, hordes of Cobots, Slayers and tanks were seeking out monsters to slay; Most of them had gone into hiding to avoid humans, but that wouldn't stop the Empire from hunting them down. The only resistance against the vile invaders was Prince Richard Pigeon, who was battling a Slayer in his mechanical war armor. While he slammed the metal colossus into a rock and pecked it, three helpful heroes arrived through a portal on top of a mountain.

"Alright, Teach. What's the plan?" Janna queried.

"I'll handle the ground forces. You and Tom will storm the ship, and take out whoever's commanding it." Eclipsa ordered, when a furious voice boomed out of the ship's speakers.

"DEVIANT SINNERS, THE AGE OF RECKONING HAS COME! PERISH IN THE NAME OF THE EMPIRE!"

"I got a pretty good idea who that might be." Tom joked.

"Good luck to you both." Eclipsa morphed into her Butterfly form, swooped down into the lowlands, and began raining dark spells upon the invading forces, much to the awe of her allies.

"She's so cool..." Janna droned, proud of her mighty magical mentor.

Tom quickly flew towards the raging Crusader, with Janna riding on his back. The half-demon prince launched a smoldering plume of fire from his hands, melting a hole through the sturdy metal roof. Once it was big enough, the pair of heroes leapt inside, beginning a battle thousands of feet up.

The crew of the ship, which were helmetless troopers armed with blaster pistols and stun batons, charged towards Janna and Tom. While Tom used fire-boosted melee moves to beat up the bad guys, Janna went hog wild on them with all sorts of frightful spells. The teenage mage felt a rush fighting off the watchmen; It was a far cry from her hostage situation last time she was on a Cobalt ship.

The dynamic duo continued charging down the hall, destroying the weapon controls as they passed them. As soon as they reached the command bridge, a helmeted warrior clad in blue plate armor let out a shrill shout, and lunged towards Tom with a huge broadsword. However, Janna threw her across the room with a Levitato before she could strike the demon royal.

"Paladin. You changed your look fast."

"Don't patronize me, witch. Through the years, I seized sacred relics from that forsaken dimension. This enchanted blade kills all demons, no matter how many souls they possess. I've waited ten years to plunge it into Prince Lucitor's heart!"

"Plunge THIS!" Janna fired green magic blasts towards the wicked knight, but she blocked it with her shield of Neverzonian steel. Paladin lunged towards the girl, but Tom knocked her off-course with a flame-bloosted dropkick. The demon and the sorceress worked in tandem against their crusading foe, hitting her from both sides with fireballs and magic spells. Janna struck Paladin with an Obsidian Explosion, but the villain stood her ground. However, Tom suddenly burst out of the smoke like a rocket, and landed a fiery punch to the face, shattering Prudence's helmet.

Enraged, Paladin let out a yell and swung her enchanted blade towards Tom; The demon swiftly dodged, barely avoiding decapitation. He felt weak simply by being in its presence; A wound from that weapon would surely be lethal, immortality be damned. The warrior kicked him down with her armored boot, and raised her sword to slay the bane of her existence.

"Die, prince of demons!" Before Paladin could kill the heir to the Underworld, A swarm of Goth Moths came her way, and pestered the scoundrel to no end. She swung her weapon wildly, slicing apart the magically-constructed insects. When the swarm subsided, Prudence looked to see a furious sorceress staring her down intensely.

"That's enough." Janna funneled intense dark magic into her Kali sticks, which manifested in the form of sharp green energy blades. The raven-haired mage leapt towards the mad crusader, and swung her magically-augmented blades at her. Janna attacked wildly and ferociously to try and take out the psychopathic Paladin, but her rageful attacks were no match for ten years of experience with the blade. Paladin easily parried her attacks, and knocked the fighting sticks out of Janna's hands, cutting her off from her conduit. She slammed the heroine against the wall, and pointed her sword towards her throat.

"At last, justice has finally come." Prudence menacingly snarled. It looked like the end for poor Janna, when a mighty explosion shook the entire realm. Tom began to smile, as the sound was familiar, and quite a relief to hear.

"I'll say."

Paladin looked out the window, and saw something that shook her to her core. In the lowlands, the ground had given way, revealing a deep, dark hole. Out of the sinkhole burst a large horde of winged demons, wielding tridents and spears of wicked make. What's more, they were commanded by the ruler of the underworld herself, Queen Wrathmelior Lucitor.

The winged warriors flew towards the warship, while screeching spine-chilling war cries in demonic tongue. Paladin was frozen with shock, as her worst nightmare had come to pass; She had angered the Lucitor Kingdom, and was now facing their full fury.

"Foul demons! Face your undoing!" Paladin tried raising her devil-slaying blade, only for her heart to skip a beat when it wasn't in her hands.

"Looking for something?" Janna had swiped the sword while Prudence was distracted, and now wielded it in her grasp. The mischievous heroine slammed the wretched weapon against the floor, destroying it for good. As the demon soldiers began melting a hole through the side of the Crusader, the Paladin began to feel genuine, primal fear.

"Insolent witch!" The warrior in white lunged towards Janna to retaliate, but Tom lobbed a well-placed fireball that burst against her chest, knocking her towards the edge of the command bridge. As the demon soldiers seized Prudence with their wicked talons, she angrily shouted her last words to the Snatcher.

"You're going to HELL!"

"Where I'll be the queen." Janna smugly retorted. As the demons dragged Paladin down to the Underworld to for some unknown and likely horrible fate, Tom sheepishly walked up to his magical girlfriend.

"Wow...that was pretty hot." Tom awkwardly admitted, causing Janna to blush. A loud, ferocious growl echoed through the mountains; It came from Queen Wrathmelior, and translated in Mewman as a greeting to her son and his darling girlfriend.

"Hey, Queen Lucitor!" Janna exclaimed, while waving to her boyfriend's massive and intimidating (albeit kind-hearted) mother. From their bird's-eye-view, the couple looked down at the battle unfolding on the ground. The tides had turned with the Lucitors' arrival; Now swarms of pigeons, legions of demons, and monster rebels were working together to push back the Empire. Eclipsa was a force of nature on the battlefront; Using telekinesis, she levitated four hover-tanks high in the air, and slammed them to the ground, causing the assault vehicles to explode.

"Seems they got this handled." Janna remarked.

"Then let's get going." Tom added, and held the sorceress close to his side. He flew out of the defeated dreadnought, and Janna pulled out her Cleave Ray to summon a portal leading to the next front to fight on...

Meanwhile, all the way across the globe, another Cobalt invasion occured in the forested Spiderbite Kingdom, which ended up smack dab in the middle of the Australian countryside. While a woodland kingdom appearing in the Outback was quite shocking at first, the Spiderbites ended up getting along with most of their neighbors; After all, the native giant spiders were right at home with all the other frightening Australian wildlife. But now, the peace was broken, and all hell had broken loose on the kingdom.

While the warship Xanadu reigned terror from above, Austin, Kelly and Globgor entered the battlefront from a portal, which opened on the ground. Chaos was rampant throughout the kingdom; Imperial forces were easily breaking through the castle's archaic defenses, like catapults and ballistae. While the teenage heroes were justifiably horrified, Globgor was appalled on a whole other level; The Cobalt Empire's ruthless invasion reminded him of the wretched wrath he wrongly brought upon the kingdom.

"We gotta take out that ship." Kelly pointed upwards towards the aerial assault ship, which hung ominously over the canopy.

"Globgor, give us a boost!" Maroon exclaimed. The monster hero grew till he towered above the tallest trees, then lowered his palm for the costumed couple to get onto. Then, he wound up and threw the duo into the air. Kelly held her vigilante lover's hand, and he activated his rocket boots, continuing their ascent towards the fearsome frigate.

As the pair of Protectors soared into the sky, King Sizes remained on the ground. He saw Spiderbite Village, with all its mewman and monster subjects, was overrun by Imperial weapons of war. The size-shifter had quite a nasty reputation in this land, but it mattered not; The Spiderbites needed a hero in their hour of need, and by Earth and Mewni, he was going to help them regardless.

Globgor charged into the woodland village, crushing swathes of Cobots with every earth-shattering step. Cobalt tanks raised their guns towards the monster, but he endured the stinging blasts, and crushed them under his feet. Suddenly, he was struck in the back by an aircraft's missiles; To a regular-sized monster, they would mean instant death, but at his size, they were more like mere bug bites. The costumed giant uprooted a large deciduous tree, and used it to swat the pesky VTOL out of the air.

The resistance against the invaders, which consisted of both the Spiderbite royal guard and a monster militia, were shocked to see such a legendary figure in Mewnian history fighting alongside them. His arrival had leveled the playing field, giving them an edge against the technological terrorists.

"It can't be? Is that Globgor?" One of the guards wondered. The last king of Mewni then charged towards the palace, which was currently being attacked by more Imperials.

"He's headed towards the castle!" We have to help him!" A stout, one-horned monster rallied. The ragtag defense force rushed towards the royal palace, while tearing through Cobots with their swords, spears and axes.

Further in the village, an enormous Slayer mech bashed the castle walls with its mighty mechanical arms, exposing the throne room. The guards fired at the armored abomination with their crossbows, but mere arrows couldn't even dent the giant. It took the guards out with a shoulder-mounted energy cannon, and slammed its arms into the ground, causing a chunk of debris to fall on Eurigan, the Spiderbite king.

"EURIGAN!" Queen Mileena rushed to her injured husband, who struggled to break free; Alas, he was pinned by the rubble. The Magitech mech aimed its cannon at the pair of monarchs, to rid the world of one of Mewni's remaining kingdoms; All of a sudden, a familiar four-eyed monster rose above it, and ripped its left arm out of its socket. Before the Slayer could retaliate, Globgor broke off its other arm, and began beating it to the ground with both of its own arms. Once the mech was downed, he tore off its head, raised it up into the air, and let out a mighty roar of victory.

Once the Slayer was slain, Globgor shrank down to his regular size, and leapt into the Spiderbite throne room. An air of tension emanated in the room, as last time he visited Spiderbite Castle, he brought about its destruction. Unbeknownst to them, the feared Crusher of Skulls was a changed monster, and one who was about to do the right thing.

The size-shifting superhero dug King Spiderbite out of the debris, carefully brushed the dust off his body, and gently set him on the ground. Mileena carefully examined her husband's body; Miraculously, he wasn't dead, only injured.

"Your Highness, are you alright?"

"You...you saved me..." Eurigan moaned. "But you're the Prince of Darkness! You burned down our kingdom! Why would you choose to rescue me?"

"It's the right thing to do. I can't undo the mistakes of my past, but I want to make up for them." The size-shifter spoke. "And I'm not the Prince of Darkness, that name is dead to me. Call me...King Sizes." By saving Spiderbite Village in its time of need, Globgor had done the one thing he never thought he could; Atone for the sins of his past...

As Globgor rallied a retaliation on the battlefront, the frigate's commander watched from above with disdain. The Xanadu was helmed by who but the Ringmaster, who got some major upgrades since the fight at the Cleave Center. Instead of a primarily red circus outfit, Richard now wore an armored jumpsuit and a helmet, both of which were in the colors of Cobalt; Blue and black. In addition, his plethora of throwing rings were exchanged for a pair of cutting-edge Magitech gauntlets. While they didn't look like much, their capabilities were nothing short of extraordinary.

All of a sudden, the doors to the bridge opened, revealing a heroic duo; Austin and Kelly were standing in front of a pile of slain Cobots, their blades and bodies covered in black oil.

"Stop right there!" Kelly shouted, catching the villain's attention.

"You buggers again? How'd you get all the way here?" The supervillain squawked. "No matter! Embrace this fantastic spectacle, for it'll be your last!" Ringmaster held out his hands, and used his special gauntlets to form a ring out of hard light. He whipped the weapon, and Kelly and Austin dove out of the way; The sharp ring bounced around the command bridge three times, then Ringmaster called it back to his hand.

"Since when could he do that?" Austin clamored. Ringmaster lobbed more Magitech rings towards the heroes, who moved as quickly as they could to dodge his deadly attacks. The dangerous discs ricocheted around the room unpredictably, keeping them on edge; At one point, Austin was nearly hit by one of them, but Kelly deflected the weapon with her heavy sword.

"I can't land a hit on him! What do we do?" Austin queried, then jumped up with his rocket boots to dodge one of Ringmaster's bladed energy rings.

"We gotta switch it up! Do you know Woolhairdo?"

"No, but I know how to improvise!" Maroon then leaped into Kelly's abundant hair, and disappeared, much to Ringmaster's abject confusion. The valiant Woolett then leapt towards Ringmaster and swung her sword; However, he easily blocked it with his dual ringblades.

"Pathetic! Is that all you got?" Ringmaster boasted, but his hubris was punished by a gloved fist that popped out of Kelly's hair, and punched him in the face. Now that he was caught off guard, the couple continued hitting him with their Dual Mode attacks; While Austin's hand-to-hand combat wasn't as skilled as Marco's, he made up for it with genius innovation. For every punch Kelly threw, he fired off a wrist-blast in tandem. For every kick she delivered, he added a swipe of his wrist-mounted blades. It was a daring act that required two players, but they certainly worked well together.

While the supervillain struggled to keep up, the heroes kept on fighting; Kelly shattered one of Richard's gauntlets with her sword, Austin broke the other with his wrist-blade, then leapt out of her hair to deliver a swift kick to Ringmaster's solar plexus. The kick knocked the Cobalt enforcer back, right by the window at the stern of the ship.

"Let's finish this." Austin removed one of his utility bracelets, and slapped it on Kelly's right forearm. The pair of Protectors jumped towards their Attacker adversary, charged up their blasters at the same time, and sent him flying out the window with a proton-powered punch!

The fallen Ringmaster screamed in fear as he fell towards the ground, towards an all-but certain demise. But in a bizarre miracle, he was caught at the last second, and nearly had a heart attack when he saw who saved him; It was Globgor!

"GAH! Unhand me, you hideous ogre!" Ringmaster cried, and tried to summon throwing rings to fight with; Alas, his weapons were destroyed in his final fight. Globgor glared towards the captured supervillain, then threw him high up in the air. Masters yelled out in terror, and the statuesque size-shifter opened his mouth to seemingly devour the verminous villain.

Needless to say, almost everyone was appalled and horrified by Globgor's apparent man-eating, including Austin, Kelly, and especially the Spiderbite royals. Luckily, he was only bluffing; The size-shifting hero hocked a big loogie, and spat Ringmaster into the nearby woods, much to the relief of those around him.

"Ach! That's disgusting!" Once he landed, Ringmaster tried to wipe the monster slobber off his face, but his limbs were immobilized; To top of his traumatic karma, he was trapped in a giant spider web! The Scottish supervillain struggled strenuously, attracting the most notorious denizens of the forest; Grotesque spiders the size of Great Danes. As the arachnids crawled closer and closer towards Richard, the evil enforcer screamed in terror, helpless to stop his well-deserved fate.

With the Xanadu disarmed, the battle's favor had turned in the favor of Earth-Ni. As Globgor and his forces battled the invasion force's remnants, Austin and Kelly watched in satisfaction.

"Looks like Big G's got this covered." The Wooly Warrior remarked.

"I agree. Let's find somewhere else to go save." Austin took out his Cleave Ray, and opened a portal to his next destination. Before he could enter the wormhole, Kelly tapped his shoulder.

"For luck." Kelly quickly undid her buddy's helmet, and gently kissed his cheek, causing the boy to blush. He quickly redid his trademark mask, held his lovely lady's hand, and jumped into the portal to fight for justice elsewhere...

Beyond the mountains of Chile, the Forest of Unlikely Spiderbites, and the cleaved city of Echo Creek, another all-out battle was raging on the Kenyan plains, in an expansive game reserve that cleaved with the Johansen Kingdom. While the rowdy barbarians feuded with nomadic monsters, conservation officers and Cobalt Watch troopers, River soon came from overseas to help his kin get along with their neighbors, both human and monster.

Keeping up with the pattern, this Cleaved savanna was under attack from the Cobalt Empire, which had come full-force with a vengeance. However, its inhabitants were far from defenseless; The Kenyan military fought off Cobots with their assault rifles, while the mighty Johansens fought them with their brute strength and trusty steeds; The giant eagles native to Mewni, and local rhinoceroses they ended up taming. Some of the eagle-mounted barbarians even attacked the flying warship Fenrir, but the raptors' talons couldn't pierce its sturdy armor.

A small, gold-hued portal opened up in the sky, and out of it flew Marco on Nachos, River on his eagle, and Star in her super-charged Butterfly form. The trio of heroes flew across the savanna skies, and looked down to see their allied forces actually holding quite well against the Empire.

"Wow! Star, your family's kicking butt!" Marco exclaimed.

"But they're helpless to stop that horrid contraption!" River remarked. "How in corn's name can we stop that monstrosity?"

"Don't worry, Dad, we've done this before. Just follow our lead!" Star swooped down towards the rear hull of the Fenrir, and cut out an opening with a heated beam of magic. Once an entrance was exposed, Star reverted to her regular form, and leapt into the main cabin of the ship, with her boyfriend and father following soon after.

The three Protectors stormed through the halls of the ship with ease. Star used plenty of Narwhal Blasts and Rainbow Fists to take down troopers, while Marco laid low man after man with skilled punches and kicks. Most terrifying of the three was River, who wildly threw the watchmen around the frigate like ragdolls, and put them in painful wrestling holds.

"Ha ha! This flying boat is a blast!" The barbarian king cheered.

"Yeah, it's much easier the second time around." Star retorted. The heroes hurried to the head of the ship, and Star blasted down the bay doors with an explosive Cupcake Blast. Standing proud on the command bridge was a long-haired Caucasian man with a shaggy beard, who was adorned in an azure suit of armor. Although his lack of a lupine aesthetic made his identity ambiguous, it was clear who this evil enforcer was; Remus Loeb, the sinister Steel Wolf.

"Cease this invasion, evildoer! Or face the wrath of Wild King and his trusty sidekicks!" River loudly boasted, earning confused looks from his close-knit teammates.

"River Butterfly. It's been ages since we last battled."

"What are you talking about, that was half an hour ago! And what are you wearing, you look nothing like a wolf!"

"Yeah, but Dragonfly blessed me with something far greater than mere armor. Behold!" Remus flexed his muscles, triggering a grotesque metamorphosis. His brown eyes turned a blazing yellow, and black fur began growing like moss, all over his body. His musculature doubled, and he grew sharp, fearsome claws and a distinct lupine tail. As the villain's human visage turned into that of a vicious wolf's, his new nanotech armor adaptively modified itself to fit his fearsome new form. Once his transformation was complete, the new-and-improved Steel Wolf let out a ferocious howl.

"What the..." Star droned in awe, while Marco was downright speechless with shock. River, on the other hand, was not impressed.

"Look at that fool! He's so weak, he had to turn into a monster to fight me!" The barbarian guffawed, causing his nemesis to snarl.

"Boast all you want! But today is the day that Wild King DIES!" The beastly mutant leapt towards River, and tackled him to the ground. Although the Wild King was strong, he struggled against Remus's therian might, and couldn't punch or kick his way out of his grasp; The villain's armor absorbed his blows. Before Steel Wolf could dig his claws into River, he was struck in the back by a well-placed Rainbow Fist Blast.

"Hands off my daddy, were-freak!" Star shouted. Enraged, Steel Wolf shot at Star with his forearm-mounted blaster, but she cast a barrier to deflect his fire. Marco jumped at him from behind, and kicked the beastly baddie in the face, then kept his wicked claws at bay with swift swipes of his sword. Remus aimed a rocket at Diaz to retaliate, but Star hammered him down with repeated Dagger Crystal Heart Attacks, which scratched his hardy armor. River then joined the party, and clobbered the werewolf over the head with his ram-headed war club, causing him to yelp like a wounded hound.

Infuriated by the nasty bruise River left on his noggin, Remus grabbed the warrior king by the arm, and hurled him into the control panel. When he collided with hit, River accidentally activated the giant Cleave Ray attached to the ship, creating a wormhole large enough to fit the full frigate. As the Fenrir slowly floated through the portal, both Star and Marco underwent startling developments, to the shock of both River and his rival; They had transformed from teens to fully-grown adults, indicating the dimension they had entered.

"I must be seeing things..." Moaned River, who was still reeling from the impact of literally hitting the deck. Steel Wolf snarled and charged towards the now-matured heroes, but Marco easily dodged his attack, slashed him a couple times with his trusty sword, then kicked him in the face. The wolfman snarled, and tried to kill Marco with a brutal bite; However, he was muzzled by a Raspberry Ribbon Lasso, and thrown across the room by his snout by Star, who had grown stronger with age.

Intent on ending things, Star changed the fate of the fight by going Butterfly once more, this time as a fully-grown woman. Her beautiful transformation evoked feelings of shock and awe from River and Marco, as well as nerve-wracking fear in her fiendish foe. Star placed all six of her hands together, and blasted Steel Wolf out the bridge's window with a massive blast of energy. As the villain took a fall, Star swooped towards her allies, picked them up, and made her way out of the fearsome frigate.

Once the heroes out of harm's way, Star took to dealing with the dreadnought with a frightening show of force; She took hold of the Fenrir with a titanic telekinetic force, and thrust it into a rough, rocky canyon. Once the warship was downed, Star gently landed on the ground, with the two men she loved most.

"Star...is that you?" River asked in disbelief; The warrior woman nodded, confirming what seemed like a dream. "You look beautiful." The king swelled with pride, as his daughter had literally grown up before his eyes. Star hugged her dad with all six of her arms, causing Marco to smile warmly.

"And look at you, Marco! You've become a rugged warrior, with a body carved from stone! Not as muscular as mine, of course." River joked and knocked on Marco's abs, much to his discomfort. However, his jest was interrupted by the sound of a vicious growl; A battle-damaged and seriously enraged Steel Wolf was charging towards the posse on all fours!

"Looks like our friend wants to go another round."

"We don't have time for that." Star retorted, and used her innate magic powers to open a pair of portals; One led back to the Johansen Kingdom, and the other led elsewhere. "Dad, you should go back and help your kingdom. We've got a world to save."

"Will do! Good luck, you two!" River leapt into his portal, and let out a glorious yell. Star and Marco looked at each other, nodded, and headed to their next destination, closing both portals just as Steel Wolf pounced towards them. The armored werewolf let out a hateful howl, for his fate was sealed; He was trapped in a deadly dimension, with no hope of escape...

Pie Island. This lowly land located off the coast of mainland Mewni was famous for two things; Tasty pies, and a populace of duplicitous scammers. Due to the Cleaving, this seedy key ended up in the South China Sea. At first, this calamitous event meant profit for the Pie Folk, as they had plenty of human tourists to trick and swindle. However, their deceit would bite them in the rear, as some of their vengeful victims would go on to join Cobalt Watch. Now, the Empire was razing the island of tricksters and thieves, as the warship Jupiter floated above the sea.

Currently, the Pie Folk were in a battle against their Earthly invaders, and they were losing by a country mile. The Pie King and his ragtag forces threw explosive pies at the enemy, but the gunpowder-laced confectionaries hardly scathed their Magitech might.

"Retreat, retreat!" The Pie King cried. As the pie-loving pirates began fleeing towards their factory stronghold, one of the king's lieutenants remarked to his superior:

"You think we deserve this, for scamming all those human folk?"

"Well, I wouldn't go that far." The trickster retorted, and barely avoided a trooper's blaster shot. "Oh, what does it matter? We're all dead meat!" Just when it seemed like all hope was lost for the (un)fair folk of Pie Island, a portal opened above them. Out of it leapt a masked warrior and a costumed Woolett; The latter took down a small squadron of Cobots with her dagger-throwing skills. Still, the invasion of the island was far from finished.

"Well, we're still outnumbered." The Pie King snarked, when another portal opened. Out of it came two former foes of the Pie Folk, who had unexpectedly come to help them in their time of need. Star fired at the fiendish robots with her spells, spilling oil and splitting metal.

"Now it's even." Austin remarked, when a third wormhole opened. Out of it flew the dynamic witch-and-demon duo, who pushed the Imperial forces further back with demon fire and dark magic.

"And now it's a party." Kelly excitedly added. Now, all six core members of the team had arrived, leveling the playing field for the people of Pie Island.

"Earth-Ni Protectors, ATTACK!" With Star's rallying cry, the six superheroes charged towards their imperialist enemies, to give them one hell of a fight for freedom...

Back in Echo Creek, the battle against the evil Empire was still going strong. But as heroic forces fought against the tyrannical invaders, a wounded warrior was sneaking through the warfront. This lowly, humbled man was a traitor to the empire he created; Such was the plight of Oberon Capers, the now-disgraced Commander Cobalt.

Oberon clutched his injured abdomen, as he skulked across the Cleaved City. Due to the invasion overwhelming the police force, he was able to escape the warehouse after hastily treating his wound. It bewildered him to see mewmans and monsters, who had been ancestral enemies for as long as they'd known each other, were fighting side by side with Earthly humans. The armored man hid when he saw Moon flying through the skies; If she caught wind of Oberon, then he was surely doomed.

However, the commander's attention was caught by an appalling sight; One of Dragonfly's mindless drones had cornered a family; A human family, with a toddler no less. And now, it was about to kill them for whatever reason. To stop such a heinous crime, Oberon quickly shot the robot several times with his wrist-blaster, destroying the infernal invention.

"RUN!" As the frightened family ran for shelter, a wave of horror overcame Oberon. The Cobalt Empire was not only against Mewnian deviants, but innocent humans who resisted their totalitarian will. The Watch had now become the very thing he feared; A tyrannical threat to the entire Earth, using advanced, almost alien weaponry to wage terror and war upon the innocent.

Oberon then looked to a nearby display of televisions from a derelict store, and saw a surprising sight; His son, along with his team of valiant superheroes, were fighting the Empire in a merged region thousands of miles away. It was at this moment that the callous commander realized what he had to do.

"I created a monster...and now I'm gonna kill it."

Outside the cleaved city, Wade Burroughs awoke in the wreckage of the second Dauntless. To his horror, royal knights, monster warriors and even the National Guard were fighting back against his legion; He was losing the battle for Echo Creek.

Burroughs began to panic; If he was caught, who knows what perilous fate would await him. He quickly pulled out his Cleave Ray, and aimed it in the air to summon an escape portal. But just as he was about to pull the trigger, his solar plexus was pierced by a lethal blast of energy. Wade let out a strained cry and fell on his back, his executioner standing over him.

"Oberon...y-you t-traitor..." The admiral weakly huffed.

"That makes two of us." Oberon swiped the ray gun from Burroughs' person, and created a portal; A gateway to his redemption...

While the Earth-Ni Protectors battled Imperial forces in the streets of Pie Island, the flying frigate Jupiter loomed high above the ocean. In a part of the sea close to Pie Island, the Waterfolk Kingdom was under attack from an electrifying enemy. Indra Watts, the sinister second-in-command to the Empire, stood on a custom-made platform beneath the command bridge, her dark hair flowing in the wind. The villainess grinned sadistically, as white-hot lightning surged through her body; She released her discharge in the form of a mighty bolt that struck the water's surface, shocking the innocent Waterfolk bellow.

"Time for the world's biggest fish fry." Indra charged up for another deadly strike; Her powers had grown tenfold during her time in Dimension X-103, albeit at the cost of her sanity. Just as she was about to unleash hell upon the sea-dwellers, the living generator was hit by a Narwhal Blast, which knocked her off the platform. Indra caught herself with her levitation powers, and looked to see who but the Earth-Ni Protectors.

"This ends now, Lady Lightning!" Shouted Star, who was carrying Marco, Janna and Kelly in her six-armed grasp. Talk about having your hands full. Indra retaliated by firing lighting towards her foes, who dispersed to avoid her attack. Tom flew up and punched her through the window, knocking the villainess into the command bridge. Star and her posse entered the room to fight, as did Maroon, who swung into the room with his grappling hook.

"Surrender now, and no one has to get hurt." Maroon spoke, when Indra lashed out and hit him with a bioelectric pulse.

"You're all ants compared to me. I'm an all-powerful GODDESS!"

"Aaaand she's lost it." Janna remarked. Lady Lighting cast a flurry of electric darts towards the heroes, but they all evaded her first attack, beginning yet another clash of good and evil.

No single one of the superheroes could take Lady Lightning alone; Thanks to a decade of experience, she was one of the strongest magic users on the planet. So, the troupe of crime-fighters worked in tandem, using their diverse powers to tackle the electric evildoer. Martial artists Marco and Kelly leapt towards Lady Lightning, and engaged her up close with a plethora of punches and kicks, while Star and Janna peppered her with magic blasts.

However, Indra laid Marco out with a series of electrified jabs to his pressure points, and he fell to the ground in a heap. Kelly tried taking her down with her sword, but she blocked the blade with an electrical energy blade, then struck the Woolett with said weapon. The static electricity caused her abundance of hair to stand up on end, hindering her ability to fight.

Next came the masked vigilante Maroon, who was surfing on Tom's back as he flew around the bridge. The demon prince launched a plume of fire towards the mage clad in blue, but she narrowly spared herself with an electrical barrier spell. Austin swung from a ceiling pipe with his grappling hook and kicked her in the shoulder, then Tom crashed into her with a powerful punch. The heroic duo peppered Indra with fireballs and wrist-blasts, but she ragefully retaliated by electromagnetically lifting her armored enemy, then she threw him into Tom at blinding speed, taking them both down.

Star and Janna hit Indra from both sides with two similar spells; Honeybee Tornado Swarm, and Tarantula Tornado. The two cyclones of arthropods hit the Attacker at once, covering her in nasty stings and bites. Unfortunately, they only served to enrage her; She wildly cast electro-darts towards the pair of magical girls, who fired back with Rainbow Blasts and Midnight Shrieks; To end the fight, Indra formed two large orbs of ball lighting, and hurled them towards the heroines, electrifying them into submission. Now, all the Protectors had been taken down by the master of electricity.

"You poor, foolish heroes. The world will be better off without you!" Lady Lighting charged up a final attack to execute her most hated enemies, but lost her focus when her shoulder was singed by a blast of blue energy. She shrieked in pain, and looked in shock to see who had delivered the blow.

"GET AWAY FROM MY SON!"

To everyone's surprise, Oberon Capers, of all people, had come to the rescue! Boosted by his rocket boots, the disgraced commander struck Lady Lightning with a powerful punch, and tackled her out of the command bridge. Indra broke free with a discharge of electricity, and the two Attackers began to battle it out.

Shocked that his father was now apparently on the side of good, Austin ran towards the dueling villains, and fired his wrist-blaster towards Lady Lighting. She cast a bolt in retaliation, which the boy barely avoided.

"What are you doing? GET OUT OF HERE!" Oberon cried, and blocked his foe's electrified punch. "GET OUT NOW!"

Still, Austin tried to aid his father, but felt a tug on his cape. Both Tom and Kelly began pulling him away from the fight, not wanting to lose their cherished teammate. As the demon and Woolett dragged Austin out of the ship, Oberon looked knowingly at his son, and spoke his parting words:

"Save the world, son..."

As the Protectors fled the doomed dreadnought, Oberon continued fighting his dynamic and deadly foe. Using his jet-boosters, he tackled her through the halls, but she overpowered him with electricity, and hurled him into the reactor room. As the injured warrior struggled to get up, Indra menacingly hovered towards him, her fingers crackling with deadly lightning. The angered Attacker brutally beat her traitorous foe with electrified fists, then used an overwhelming discharge to fry him inside his armor. As the mortally wounded commander let out a groan, Indra sneered with disdain.

"Dirty traitor. You may have started the Empire, but you won't live to see it through."

"Neither will you. I designed these dreadnoughts, and a good captain...goes down with his ship." Oberon weakly raised his right arm at the reactor, and snapped his fingers, creating the spark that would doom them both. To him, it didn't matter; Oberon Capers may not have a place in this strange new world, but his son certainly did...

The Jupiter exploded in the sky, taking the lives of both Attackers. As the dreadnought's fiery wreckage fell into the sea, the mewmans of Pie Island and Waterfolk of the ocean cheered and rejoiced, for their invaders were vanquished! Austin, however, felt shocked and conflicted. On one hand, two wicked enemies of Earth-Ni and its denizens had finally perished; But on the other, his father had died in the blast above. As the Protectors rested on a small, rocky islet, Kelly comforted her weary beloved as best she could.

Once the aftershock of the explosion wore off, Star transformed into her Mewberty mode, and opened up a portal leading to the Neverzone.

"Come on, let's get some rest. We've got one last battle to fight..." The six superheroes wearily headed into the gateway; Once they were finished resting, a daunting challenge awaited; The final battle for Earth-Ni...

Next comes the finale; We're in the endgame, now...
