Goodness, 1034 views? 6 reviews? I'm in seventh heaven!

And so to celebrate, I tried to write this chapter faster. Surprisingly, it is earlier than I myself expected. And (lucky for both of us!) it is a bit longer than the previous ones too.

Dang, I'm so in love with all the characters, it's almost embarrassing. How I wish to meet them! But I hope that one day, I will.

Anyways, I hope you like this chapter. Read & review!

5. Promise Day

Calypso & Leo Valdez

"I'm coming back for you, Calypso," he said to the night wind. "I swear it on the River Styx."

When Leo had promised to come back, he hadn't realized the weight of the statement that looked so simple. But what he had realized was that he would, and he had to, rescue Calypso; it didn't matter if he had to come back from the dead for it; no.

Leo lay on his bed that night, gazing out of the customized giant window near his bed. As the Argo II glided noiselessly through the dark sky, Leo tried naming the constellations he could see outside. The stars, they were all so bright today, gleaming like gems inside the dark earth.

He thought about Calypso, about Ogygia, and about all the fun time they had spent together. Each time the view of her mud-splattered face came floating in front of his eyes, with her dark eyes and sunlit caramel hair, strands of which kept falling in front of her face as she worked with him, his resolution to rescue her grew stronger.

So strong he doubted he would be able to think straight until he himself saw Calypso in person.

Leo was thinking so hard about his plans to go back to Ogygia, he hardly noticed the little white Moonlace blooming from the pot on the window sill.

He was busy staring at the sky. The stars were indeed really bright tonight…

The stars.

Calypso loved the stars; they were somewhat like what her life was. So close, and yet so isolated from the rest of the world.

She sighed heavily as she replayed Leo's promise in her head.

"I'm not gonna leave you here! After you helped me and everything? Of course I'm coming back."

How could he say all that with so much confidence? Of course he could. He didn't know the seriousness of her curse. He never would.

But he really loved her, didn't he? Silly.

A neglected tear trickled down her eye, as lonely as she felt.

But why was it her? What wrong had she done? Oh yes, he was a daughter of Atlas, a Titan. She was an enemy of the gods. Effing gods.

And so naturally, she was born to suffer.

Suffer. All Leo could do was suffer.

Wide awake in the dead of the night, he twisted and turned furiously in his bed. He usually sweated a lot, being a son of the fire god and all, but today he was sweating a lot more. He was feeling so stuffy and hot; he could swear that he was being boiled alive.

He tried everything, turned the air conditioner down, changed the ventilation, showered twice, but it was all ineffective. Leo was suffering, suffocating.

The fear that he might not be able to go back to Ogygia was eating him out from the inside, cutting him into pieces. His gut wrenched horribly at the thought of Calypso crying alone, depressed.

He couldn't bear the thought of her cursing him because he had broken his promise, broken her heart like all those other men who left her all alone. He couldn't bear to see the disappointment in her eyes.

Lost in his fears, he didn't notice the little white Moonlace flower blooming from the pot on the window sill.

Calypso's disappointed eyes haunted him, accusing him of giving her false hopes, refusing to leave him alone.

Disappointed? Never.

It wouldn't disappoint Calypso if Leo didn't come back; no. She was already used to that awful feeling. By now, she knew very well that falling in love broke her.

Every time.

But she couldn't deny that she would be a little hurt, just a little bit. Even after all these times of experiencing unrequited love, it was her fault to still let her heart get broken.

Every time.

It was embarrassing.

But with Leo, it was different. Just a little, but it was unique.

Maybe because unlike the previous men that had (very inconveniently) found their way to her lonely island, Leo did not have a love interest to return to, to remember.

But maybe it was because this time, she was getting her hopes way too high for her to be safe from heartbreak.

But whatever it might be, two things were sure.

One, she (unexpectedly) still loved Leo Valdez.

Two, she was getting unhealthily anxious about whether he would actually return or not.

And none of these things were meant to be okay for her sanity.

Sanity was one of the many things that were slowly abandoning Leo Valdez.

He couldn't close his, not for a second. Thoughts about Ogygia and Calypso flooded hia mind, wrecking his common sense.

It was for the first time in his life that he had thought about a girl like that. She was his first kiss. And it wasn't the "it's just a crush" feeling; no. It was love.

Why or how Leo knew that was a mystery. But a greater mystery was how to return to the island where he had found his love.

He laughed drily.

Finally found someone but she was on a mysterious island which nobody found twice? Typical.

His fingers automatically reached up to his lips. The lips Calypso had kissed. He struggled to remember the feel of her soft lips on his rough ones, but he couldn't.

Frustrated, Leo ran his hands through his messy hair. He had to find a way. He stared out of the huge glass window. The stars were so bright tonight, so beautiful

Shining like crystals.

Crystals…

Leo suddenly sat up. It was a crazy idea, he knew that, but he had no other option.

He hurried out of his bed, shoving away the annoying covers sticking to him.

It is a really bad idea, he reminded himself, it's not gonna work.

He opened the shabby cabinet in the corner of his room.

But I really don't have any other way.

As he rummaged the shelves for the things he needed, he thought of the happy time he had spent with Calypso, he thought of the feeling of love he had experienced for the first time, he thought of Ogygia.

At last, he found what he was looking for.

An oath to keep with a final breath.

Calypso's happy almond eyes danced in front of his eyes as he looked at the crystal in his right hand.

And the Physician's Cure in his left.

Leo was happy. For the first time in many days (weeks?), Leo was truly happy.

Grinning like a mad man, his eyes brimming with fresh tears, he once again failed to notice the little white Moonlace flower blooming from the pot on the window sill.

"I promised you, Sunshine, I'm coming back for you."

Sunshine.

He had called her his Sunshine. And she had told him that she had hated that name.

She wished she had a way to tell him the truth. And then her eyes lit up.

Calypso knew what to do.

She couldn't leave, and nor could Leo come back here again. But she had found a way to send her love to him. And hopefully, it would reach him, telling him that she loved him, that she trusted him.

She found her way to the beautiful garden, almost skipping with happiness.

Her eyes fell on the lovely Moonlace plants, and she felt so pleased she thought her heart would explode with the excitement.

Wading through the sea of flowers, she reached the little white ones she needed. Bending down, she plucked one of them.

"Little flower, go and tell Leo Valdez that his Sunshine awaits him," Calypso whispered to it.

The Moonlace plant withered and faded away slowly, its little petals flying out of sight.

Hopefully, they will reach their destination.

They did.

Whew, that was hard work. But anything for my dear readers! So if you liked this chapter, please review :)

Peace!
