Ep 3
Scene 7
She feels relieved coming back to the Nightshade alive and free. She can speak to Garret now.
- I've been meaning to thank you Captain. I would have been executed if that weren't for you.
But Garret passes on just in front of her.
- Just did what I thought Gwynn would want.
(So I thank you and I get the cold shower ? How rude !)
- I said something wrong ?
Following him, she obviously wants to talk.
- Gwynn gave her bond to set you free. And you have no idea of what means, do you ?
- No, not really. I don't.
(And I would like to know why you always so cautious about Gwynn... the little girl of the commander. Everything regarding Gwynn seems to make you lose your usual posture...)
- If you break the law, Gwynn is equally guilty. Wythers will cut off both your heads.
She needed a few seconds so she will not just to yell at him.
(Do you really think I'm a threat for her ?...)
- Well, even if I would do something, I'm not saying I would, but surely her father could pardon her.
- Not lawfully, no.
And Garret seems more and more concern as he pulls her away from the other customers before going on :
- And when the Prime Order comes to investigate, and they will come to investigate, the whole thing puts Gwynn in mortal danger.
- Why would the Prime Order care about Gwynn ?
But Garret is lost for words.
(Who has secrets he don't wanna tell now ?)
- I just... I think it would be best if you moved on.
(So that's it ? Save my life so I could move on ? Where have your chivalrous manners gone ? Can't you just be yourself again ?)
Frustrated she started to get away, but then she changes her mind. She's not done with him yet.
- You don't think I can stay out of trouble, do you ?
- The further away you are, the less likely something will befall Gwynn.
(Oh, I so want to punch that pretty little face of yours !)
- Goodnight Captain !
Seconds later, as Lilly delivers Gwynn's invitation, Talon watches Garrets slowly shaking his head.
(Oh yes captain, I'm gonna accept Gwynn's invitation, look at me, listen to her servant You want me to get away, she wants me here. You won't get rid of me so easily...)
...
- Looks like you're stuck with me.
These are her last words before turning her back on him.
("Stuck with me" ? Maybe not the best choice of words...)
Scene 8
Chasing the Lu-Qiri Talons ends on the walkway upon the wall when she looses its trace.
The sun will soon rise.
(So what now ?)
Suddenly, a voice :
- Scuse-me ! You can't be up here.
And Garret shows up.
(Of course, we meet again, up here on the wall... You can smile, I'm still upset...)
But, he's not here to argue.
- Hello Talon.
He decides he can get closer and have a real conversation.
- What are you doing out there ?
The tone is casual, no accusation, or insinuation. Just kind of small-talk.
- I ... mmm... couldn't sleep, I needed some air.
- But it's nearly dawn. It's far to late for a barmaid to be up.
- And far to early for a captain. What's your excuse ?
(See, iI can chit chat too.)
- I'm on duty.
- Then you can see I'm not here to cause any trouble.
(No trouble at all. Take that moron... See ? Still upset.)
- Yeah, about that, I hum ... I didn't mean to imply...
(Imply what ? Not sure you're gonna fix anything that way...)
But Garret goes on :
- It's just, if... if you tell me more about yourself and what you're doing here.
She has to interrupt him.
- What is there to tell. I'm a barmaid... like you said.
- A barmaid with exceptional combat skills. (Do not flatter me. Exceptional skills ! What do you really know ?) I still can't understand how you kill Captain Magmoor.
(Classical man reaction.)
And as usual she feels the need to talk to him face to face, so she turns to him.
- Why ? Because I'm a woman ?
- No... Partly yes... (Not so classical, maybe... a different kind of man you are...) ... and also the fact that he is twice your size and a legendary sword's man. I'm not sure I could have beat him.
(Oh, honest Garret is back... And that strange connexion too... Yes ; would you have beaten him ? )
- I could show you.
Just for a second she can't stand his gaze. But that doesn't last.
- I'm not sure that's necessary.
(But I WANT to show you, I want you to know who I really am.)
In a swift move she pulls out his sword and points it at his chest.
- Men like you underestimate me.
He accepts the challenge taking a step toward the pun.
- I won't let my guard down again.
(And I want to know you too. Because I love your attitude there : Facing me, plainly looking at me, straight in the eyes...)
- Good. So maybe you'll be a decent match... for sparring partner that is.
The sword down they come closer in the rising sun.
- Sounds dangerous.
- Oh I think you could last a few rounds with me.
- Ah ... I think I can last more than a few rounds.
- I don't think so. I dwell you out.
(You will try to last a few more rounds, and I will enjoy it...)
Another voice calls out : Captain !
Unwillingly Garrets goes to acknowledge his man's report.
(What were you thinking of, when the guard called you ?...
I'm sure I'll be back up here... with you... )
